Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

Ladies this is really making me laugh (& am now crying bizarrely). 😂

The mere mention of Captain Tom Moore & I am in floods! 😭

I can so relate to the emotions & the snapping!!!

roro87 · 30/04/2020 17:12

I'm just thinking lucky it isn't Christmas because all those airport coming home for Christmas shows set me off at the best of times Grin Yes I've gone from crying to snapping to apologising in like 10 min. He has realised his work 99% of the time and if that doesn't escape to the shed

hollyjg · 30/04/2020 17:17

@roro87 haha my boyfriend keeps talking about needing a shed when we move house this must be why 😂😂

NatalieH2220 · 30/04/2020 20:08

My OH is another one who has a long commute and still working Monday-Friday. He's usually back around 7pm which is when our son goes to bed so I'm juggling toddler, working from home and the lovely nausea! Hopefully the nausea will die out over the next couple of weeks then it'll be a bit more manageable.

My scan is 11th May so around the same time, counting down the days, glad there's a bank holiday before as that should help speed things up a bit.

I've seen a few people mention the Harmony test. Is that something you get done privately? Does anyone know how much they cost?

JustFrigginNameChange · 30/04/2020 20:24

@EithneBlue Decaf coffee does the same to me too. I switched over to it at around week 5 as I was unsure whether coffee was safe to drink, but promptly stopped drinking it and if I think of it now I get a queasy feeling.

I've gone off eggs too. I used to eat them all the time pre-pregnancy and bought a huge carton full but they've all gone to waste.

All I really want to eat now are foods that are liquidy or runny like soup or a curry in a nice sauce.

I'd kill for a roast dinner though.

peachypetite · 30/04/2020 20:46

I’ve had a bowl of cereal for dinner couldn’t face much. Very up and down! I’m mainly eating beige food, cheese and lots of fruit.

RestorationInsanity · 30/04/2020 21:59

We had a curry tonight as our kitchen sink is in the hall, our kitchen is in the dining room, and the only room downstairs with any lights is the living room. Plus all the flooring for the kitchen is piled in the dining room! I ate some but now I feel exhausted. Today has been an up and down sort of day! Plus I've had to resort to the prunes. Everything had continued to move nicely until the last couple of days. Oh the joys! Hope everyone has managed to get to bed early and has a good rest!

roro87 · 01/05/2020 09:24

Nothing has moved naturally for me since before I got pregnant I had to go on prescription folic acid beforehand as mine was so low despite taking supplements so that backed me up and then got pregnant and haven't been able to go. I have all bran for breakfast, green smoothies, prune juice passion fruit, basically you name it I've tried it. they barely touch the surface I'm going to have to go to doctor about it I think

ChampooPapi · 01/05/2020 09:33

@roro87 get the spatone liquid iron and stop taking the irons pills, they are the worse for constipation

ChampooPapi · 01/05/2020 09:35

Oh I see it's the folic acid pills. I think you could definitely try a natural folate instead as that will still give your baby enough

OP posts:
roro87 · 01/05/2020 09:36

I must try that thanks so much anything that helps at this stage. hope I can stop taking it after my first appointment.

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 01/05/2020 09:40

It contains 400mcg of folate so you could double dose. As it's natural you will just wee out any excess you don't actually need

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 01/05/2020 09:45

@roro87 you may also want to consider a b12 along with the liquid iron and folate and vitamin D. I would avoid any pregnacare horse pills to be honest, they are filled with stuff you don't actually need as well as not helping if your feeling sick still. And they are really expensive for what they are. Those natural liquid alternatives seem so pricey but they last so much longer then a blister pack a much better quality, and completely natural so are very easy on the gut.

It's a personal choice depending on how you react to these things, but you definitely sound like you your body would benefit from more gentle natural alternatives, which have the same potencies and effects, but without the side effects

@NatalieH2220 it's 400 pounds, I'll link you the info. You'd need to book over the next few days as you'd want to do it before your 12 week scan ideally

Week 9 and emotional mess.

Anyone else? I'm totally irrational, emotional and just feeling really really down (and then up, and then down!) The sickness and exhaustion has taken its toll, my 16 month old is particularly challenging and I'm just done with feeling rubbish.

ChampooPapi · 01/05/2020 09:49

@NatalieH2220 all the relevant info is on this thread basically so have a read through. Right now ultrasound direct is probably your only option as many private hospitals have been redeployed for covid NHS work. Unless your in London where there is a few more options on Harley street 😊

roro87 · 01/05/2020 09:53

@ChampooPapi yes definitely. my doctor had advised me away from pregnicare etc saying they will make me 10 times worse. but I will look into the vitamin D and B12 and try the more natural products. you've been a great help.

@meplusfive Yes I hear you some days are very tough but others are not so bad. I'm lucky I don't have any LO to be running around after because some days I wouldn't be able. I think we just have to get through the next few weeks and we'll hopefully feel better. I'm 10 weeks tomorrow so hope things start to improve

ChampooPapi · 01/05/2020 09:53

@meplusfive it's a load of balls isn't it?! Today is my week 10, and I still cry at every tv program I watch (the repair shop was particularly emotional for me yesterday 😆). And the retching continues. It's graft isn't it with the toddler as well, mine is 2 so a bit more independent, so I feel for you. I also am being very hands off currently as my partners here every day. His business went under because of covid, but I can't say I'm unhappy about it quite honestly it was a blessing in disguise.

Your doing so well coping, these last few weeks are a test up until the scans, as well as the plancenta's taking over and everyone feeling a lot better. I think I'm now looking forward to that more then my scan!

MummyShark97 · 01/05/2020 09:55

hello everyone! hope everyone is feeling okay today. I'm not loving this whole exhausted but can't actually sleep business.

@meplusfive yes I'm so emotional !! just can't seem to help it

roro87 · 01/05/2020 11:26

I find sleep difficult. My boyfriend has been getting hardly any sleep also because of me. like I will usually drift back off eventually but that is it for him he is up. plus I will sometimes nap. Yesterday was his birthday and I felt so guilty because at 9 I was like I have to go to bed. he only got in at 7.

hollyjg · 01/05/2020 11:35

Morning everyone👋
Very tired today my little boy has been up since 5.30 full of beans 😴😴😴

@ChampooPapi I was recommended pregnacare but agree they seem over priced and make me feel sick what would you recommend should I be taking anything extra as it's twins - sorry if that sounds silly!
I still haven't seen the twin midwife to ask her all this stuff. Hopefully will do after my 12 week scan.

Does anyone else not feel hungry in the day but then wake up starving at night? I seem to be like that every night recently.

RestorationInsanity · 01/05/2020 12:03

My GP told me just vitamin d, folic acid, and possibly a calcium supplement were fine. I think if you are really struggling to eat a balanced diet, or anything at all, then a more comprehensive vitamin can help, but if you're managing to eat reasonably well, I wouldn't stress. Don't know if this applies to anyone, but I believe that some women are eligible for free antenatal vitamins if there are financial issues. So worth looking into that.

hollyjg · 01/05/2020 12:10

Thanks @RestorationInsanity I asked my GP about free prescriptions for supplements as I'm out of work with my little one being young still - but she said they're not available at the moment.
Going to google some other avenues though - keeps me busy lol!
Thanks for the recommendations.
