Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

@Lavenderpurple yes for me too. Although I have slowly realised that some of it is me learning to manage the symptoms rather than that they have gone away. For example I don't feel sick as often as I've realised if I eat little and often, rather than 3 main meals it helps ease it. Doesn't always work of course, but some days it does and then I feel almost normal again!

ChampooPapi · 28/04/2020 16:50

@firstbabybell congratulations 👣🌈🙌 you have been through so much to get here, I am absolutely amazed at the journeys (for want of a better word!) that so many women, and their partners, have been through to get to this stage. It's all making me quite emotional, you must be ticking off those days too until the next scan. What date is yours? Mine is the 16th of May, I'm about 9.4 and I just fell asleep for the last hour and a half on my daughters bed 😏

So yes, symptoms raging still my end, but eating well and actually went for a walk this morning, though obviously had to take a half time break to sit down and eat a packet of crisps and an apple.

I am officially the most feeble I have ever been. This pregnancy lark is very draining!

@Lavenderpurple Very normal. I felt amazing yesterday and got loads done (aside from the incident with the oranges). Today I woke up at a time with a 4 in it because I needed to pee and couldn't get back to sleep. Eventually slept and then overslept. Had to take a nap this afternoon and have now knocked off work early to lie in bed and eat crackers. That seems to be the pattern for me: some days are just better than others :-)

SYVH · 28/04/2020 17:07

Thank you for all of your kind words. Wishing you the very best with your pregnancies x

lionsmum · 28/04/2020 17:34

@SYVH I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, just to echo what the other ladies have said take all the time you need and be gentle on yourselfThanks lean on your partner as much as you need and take care. Sending love and strength x

peachypetite · 28/04/2020 17:36

I agree there are good and bad days so enjoy the moments where you don’t feel like shit! I’m wfh at the moment and not really worrying about going back to work. I can’t see it being any time soon and I think given my pregnancy my work would be happy for me to work from home even if the office does open.

EithneBlue · 28/04/2020 18:12

My midwife actually asked me today whether I'm likely to be back in work soon (all these rumours in the media of schools reopening) ... I am conflicted on the matter -- I really do miss my job and genuinely want to go back. Just you know ... that pesky pandemic. I'm really really hoping that the teaching unions give out watertight guidance if and when we reopen.

firstbabybell · 28/04/2020 18:41

Yes absolutely, feel the same re the guidance. Is anyone on Twitter? I felt like the royal college of midwives was at odds with the royal college of obs & gynae during a Q&A chat a few weeks ago.

The main problem is this damn virus is so new the evidence just isn't there about how it affects pregnant women. It hasn't even been around a full gestation yet!

Anyway, can I just say how lovely it is to be chatting with other pregnant ladies. I am finding the social distancing quite isolating. Great to hear from people in the same situation.

hollyjg · 28/04/2020 18:49

I'm having my bloods at the hospital tomorrow and it terrifies me going near a hospital during this time - but I'm also so excited to go through the motions. Does anyone else feel this disease is taking away the excitement of pregnancy? Without being selfish as I know so many people are suffering.

My partner stopped work as he has to get 3 trains so didn't want to risk it with me being pregnant and our son being so young, but he's self employed and now we've found out it's twins he's going back as money will be crucial! I'm not sure how I feel about it.

On the brightside my nausea seems to have stayed away for a whole day 🥳 and I have my community midwife appointment next week the day before my 12 week which is super exciting

ChampooPapi · 28/04/2020 21:00

Ladies can I just say I love this thread 🤗 and it makes me so happy that it's bringing virtual support across the UK, and even the world, 👋 at our Aussie.

It passes the time as well which is a major factor in the first trimester under the restrictions we face as so many of us are home and thinking, thinking, thinking (read, worrying, worrying, worrying!).

My mother was a nurse and is currently self isolating as she has copd and is 65 now so can't return to the NHS under those circumstances. But I just want to say thank you to anyone who works for the NHS or has a partner, a loved one, who does.

Who works as a carer, paid or unpaid. Who is out there, or indoors, facing the threat of the virus day in day out.

To all the post office workers, the delivery drivers, everyone and anyone who is having to take a risk to just keep things going. Thank you 🌈

The NHS is not a charity and as much as it's amazing to see all the donations for it, if the government taxed the richest in our society, it would not need us to prop it up with donations.

I am just so amazed at all that people have done for the service, and I hope that some changes occur after this is over that result in the richest of our society finally paying what they should to support these vital services.

Together we are def stronger, and I really want to thank you all for joining this thread and uniting us all in our pregnancies through this time 💜

What a lovely message @ChampooPapi. I can honestly say, having had such a long time to imagine what pregnancy would be like, the middle of a pandemic is not one of the scenarios I'd envisaged!

The nausea has ramped up here. Last night I felt so sick when I went to bed, and woke up two hours later still feeling sick and needing a wee! And this morning I still feel sick. It's like the gnawing sick feeling you get when you're hungry but I don't want to eat anything.

ChampooPapi · 29/04/2020 07:45

@RestorationInsanity thanks lovely 🤗, also that's a virtual hug for you. We are certainly on the same page with the symptoms. I felt exactly the same last night and tossed and turned feeling so queasy and was up and down to the loo too.

And I still feel blarg this morning, I am going to be very very useless today 🤢🛌 so sorry you are still deep in the neseua game, it's a load of balls isn't it!

OP posts:
RestorationInsanity · 29/04/2020 07:49

It really is! Virtual hug back! If I find a position to lie that I don't feel sick in it only lasts about half an hour! I've never slept so badly in my life. I would put up with pretty much anything for this pregnancy to all go smoothly, but it's still bloody hard work!

hollyjg · 29/04/2020 07:53

Thanks for such a lovely heartfelt message @ChampooPapi 🥰💪🧸
I think in these times it's all about taking everyday as it comes and being grateful for lol of our health! ❤️

Morning sickness back with a vengeance this morning and concrete mouth all night! The babies seemed to have flared up my asthma as well so I've been wheezing all night! Anyways on a positive going for my bloods today so excited to be pushing forward.
Sending everyone strength during the pregnancy struggles 🤢🤕🤝🤰🏼

peachypetite · 29/04/2020 07:56

Morning lovely ladies. This thread is definitely so helpful these early weeks. I also had a restless night and feeling very tired now. However last night I ate the most dinner I’ve eaten in about a month! I felt starving so we got a takeaway and I really enjoyed it.

firstbabybell · 29/04/2020 08:20

This is our first so it's all new to me - the not being able to sleep & waking up for wees already has come as a complete shock! I didn't think that happened until the third trimester!

roro87 · 29/04/2020 08:40

I had a terrible nights sleep too but mine was due to really bad gas can still feel it I'm hoping it will pass soon. Yesterday morning realised I forgot to take my folic acid usually take it first thing and as soon as I took it nausea hit way worse so think it is contributing

peachypetite · 29/04/2020 08:44

@roro87 perhaps try taking your vitamin after you’ve eaten

ChampooPapi · 29/04/2020 08:45

So sorry a lot of us are still suffering. We are on the home straight now though towards greener pastures! Our plancenta's will be starting to take over and by 12 weeks we all will be feeling so much better. I think week 9 is a bit of a pain because it's when your hormones are at a peak.

Bring on the downward trend 🙏

On another note, anyone got any good pregnancy apps? I have one but it is quite American. On the plus side it gives you daily reminder for kegals & a little daily update (which are sometimes really annoying eg. "Are you worried you haven't gained any weight?" Er no, I'm fat as anything already!!!).

It has lovely weekly pics of the embryo & milestones in development. It's just called "pregnancy" and is green with two
little white footprints on it.

peachypetite · 29/04/2020 09:30

I like Emma’s diary, I’ve been using the website not the app. It’s British which I think is helpful because I did end up on some American sites too and they were talking about different check ups that we don’t have so I’d rather not read about irrelevant info!

EithneBlue · 29/04/2020 12:31

I really enjoy having this group to chat with too :) Especially stuck at my desk when I should be backchatting the students ;)

I'm still using Ovia as an app but it's starting to annoy me with its Americanisms. I like the little daily updates, though -- and the reminders to take my vitamins are good: I would definitely forget otherwise.

I've seen adverts for Emmas Diary but never looked: I just thought it was a trashy freebies site like all the Bounty marketing crap -- I'll check it out :-)

RestorationInsanity · 29/04/2020 13:49

I feel like I've got an extra batch of hormones since yesterday. Woke up to little spots on my face and feel so groggy!

peachypetite · 29/04/2020 14:20

I like the week by week guide and how it links to relevant questions for that week. I’m sorry some of you are feeling so rough today. It probably won’t last but today I’m feeling the best I have felt in ages. I’m having a cup of tea and really enjoying it (first cup of tea in weeks) and haven’t had any nausea.

MummyShark97 · 29/04/2020 14:38

My scan letter just arrived - 19th May, really excited :)! Nice to know what I'm working towards now. Hope everyone is feeling okay today
