Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

Congrats @hollyjg I'd probably contact your midwife to let her know you're having twins if she wasn't previously aware. It may be there's extra appointments/checks needed

MummyShark97 · 26/04/2020 10:53

@peachypetite same here ! rubbish isn't it, but the odd day my symptoms fade it makes me worry! can't win can you :)

peachypetite · 26/04/2020 11:01

Quite a lot of ladies having twins on here!

peachypetite · 26/04/2020 11:04

@MummyShark97 lol I know what you mean but as I progress I am starting to feel less worried if I have a good day and just enjoy it, there are so many women on here saying it’s normal for symptoms to come and go that it’s helped me feel less worried and I don’t think it’s healthy to keep obsessing. Bring on the 12 week scan.

MummyShark97 · 26/04/2020 11:15

@peachypetite same here! Chatting to everyone has been so helpful. I've also found my experience so far has been extremely similar to my mum's pregnancy with me! Really can't wait for the scan now, not got my date yet but should get a letter through soon.

ChampooPapi · 26/04/2020 11:19

@roro87 I hope it's a positive sign as I threw up all my breakfast this morning! 9 and 2 today, really tough few days with the queese and the head. I'm back in bed now, thank goodness my partner is here feeding and watering us all!

Welcome @hollyjg ✨👣, and congratulations on your twins! Are they fraternal twins? Mine are in their own sacks so fraternal but I've found out that one in three of those can still be identical. It's a crazy world!. Are you in the UK? The midwife should either have given you a number to call and book your 12 week scan or she should have said a letter will come to give you the date.

@hollyjg oh I just re read and saw your scan was after your booking in. You need to phone your midwife and say about the twins because you are supposed to see a consultant after your 12 weeks scan on the same day. So Definitely call, even today is fine because you can leave a message 😊

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 26/04/2020 11:23

@hollyjg twin pregnancies are consultant lead not midwife lead. You get a lot more scans though, every 4 weeks after 20 weeks which is nice!

Hey, new here, hope it's ok to join.

I'm 9w today, due on I think 29th Nov with my second pregnancy. First was a MC at 14 weeks many years ago, and since then I adopted my little boy from when he was 6 weeks old as a single parent. He is now 16 months and a while ago I met my lovely partner- who also has two children. We found out we were expecting very early as I was having severe symptoms so quickly and ended up with an early scan 5w2d to check for ectopic pregnancy- luckily all was ok but it was still too early for a HB which was disappointing 😢

Anyway- from 0-4 children in two years 😅 our household will be busy, but I'm excited and now patiently (definitely not patient) waiting for my booking in next week and then hopefully a scan shortly after.

Hope everyone is coping well with the nausea! Mine is horrendous 🤢

meplusfive · 26/04/2020 11:35

Also- has anyone had any luck at booking a private scan? (East Midlands area for me)

hollyjg · 26/04/2020 11:37

Thanks @ChampooPapi for all the advice.
I will try and phone today as will need 12 week scan in a week and half anyways!
Mine are just in one sack - the doctor didn't say much as it was just a dating scan but I assumed myself that meant they were identical!
That's interesting to know twin pregnancies are lead differently I'm glad there is extra scans to put your mind at rest!

ChampooPapi · 26/04/2020 11:44

@meplusfive hello and welcome to queasy town 😉. Congratulations 🎉💜 your family has grown fast girl!. I think currently your options in the Midlands are

  1. Paying for the Harmony/panorama/nipt through a hospital where you will also be scanned (from 10 weeks).
  1. Paying for the same test or a reassurance scan through 'window to the womb' or 'ultrasound direct'
  1. Contacting the fetal medical center for either that anomonly scan or a normal private reassuence scan (nuffield has be redeployed for caronavirus patients)

@hollyjg Im having my next scan in ten days and I'm pretty much counting the days like I'm in prison 🤦. I haven't had my 12 week scan booking yet , I have to phone Monday afternoon to book it. It is usually more like 13 weeks because they want you to definitely be measuring big enough for the anomonly screening they do, otherwise they can struggle to measure the nucal fold ECT if you were say 11 and a half weeks. As long as it's before 14 then it's fine. What area are you in? I'm south west so torbay is my local hospital

roro87 · 26/04/2020 12:09

I'm in Ireland and you get a lot less appointments here so basically I haven't been seen since my doctor confirmed a positive pregnancy test. I've been given no advice on anything and when I rang up in pain one night (bad constipation and gas in the end) I was basically told if your not bleeding we won't even see you. Have my appointment in three weeks so hopefully all will be ok.

CSR4 · 26/04/2020 12:29

@hollyjg TERRIBLE skin! broke out about a week and a half ago in a way I have never broken out before, always had pretty clear skin! Face, neck, chest and shoulders. It’s starting to clear up now but preparing myself for another one as this one really took me by surprise haha!

meplusfive · 26/04/2020 13:00

@ChampooPapi thank you! I will see how I get on Monday with private scans.

Loving queasy town 🤣 I consider this morning a success as I've managed to eat toast, now to get through the afternoon indigestion free!

hollyjg · 26/04/2020 14:09

@ChampooPapi thanks.. yeah I will give a call tomorrow - no answering machine. My anxiety is definitely higher this time around with it being twins so this is all really helpful!
I'm in South West London so St Georges is my nearest but we are moving to Liverpool soon so will probably have them at the Women's hospital there.
Is anyone taking their partners to the scans with all this going on?
I would like to but don't want to take our 8 month old to the hospital and obviously no one to baby sit him!

kkr168 · 26/04/2020 14:56

@hollyjg if it's an NHS scan you have to go by yourself at the moment.
I believe private scans are still allowing you to take 1 person with you.

NatalieH2220 · 26/04/2020 15:28

@hollyjg I don't think you're allowed for NHS. My early private scan I was allowed but similar to you didn't have anyone to watch my son so went on my own. Hoping hubby can come to the 20 week scan instead.

ChampooPapi · 26/04/2020 16:04

My private scan will also only allow myself on my own. To be honest I think I'll find it less stressful alone and I won't be worrying about my partner touching inanimate objects! But third time round here so I totally get how if it's your first you want you partner there by your side

twinsbelly · 26/04/2020 17:37

@hollyjg congratulations on the twins :) my older child was 22 months when my twins were born and even they are more like triplets so I imagine your little one will be just fine. We just included him in everything and referred to them as "his" babies and he adored them from the start. It's only now they're old enough to nick his toys he is getting a bit frustrated! Just treasure your sleep while you can 🤪

JustFrigginNameChange · 26/04/2020 18:10

I have had a headache since i woke up this morning and it just won't shift! My nausea isn't so bad now though. 9+1 here

RestorationInsanity · 26/04/2020 19:32

Have had a headache all afternoon! Maybe it's something about this weekend if we're all suffering. New symptom today...excruciatingly itchy nipples and the peeing/thirst has ramped up to a new level. Really low appetite today too. But have found a mocktail which has given me some energy, ginger ale, maple syrup and grapefruit juice!

JustFrigginNameChange · 27/04/2020 08:10

@RestorationInsanity that mocktail sounds divine!! Do you just mix all 3 together?

peachypetite · 27/04/2020 08:30

@hollyjg partners are not allowed to scans at the moment. I’d expect that to be pretty much universal. I’m hoping husband may be able to attend 20 weeks because that will be mid July but only time will tell.
