@Natopp my meals are very healthy - the crap I am eating between meals, not so much! I spend all afternoon eating. It is a disgrace.

ACatCalledLola · 21/04/2020 18:30

It doesn’t feel real to me either. I was told because of my thyroid l it was very unlikely I would get pregnant in the next couple of years and if I did it would probably end in miscarriage so I had a big drunken cry to some friends about this a few days before finding out. I feel like a bit of a fool. The lockdown has made it easy to hide it from friends and family and I’m so anxious about it that I’m a bit scared to tell people even when I can. I’m enjoying that it’s my secret at the moment and not saying it out loud in real life means I can protect myself a bit. I’m over 11 weeks now though, I have a bump and I’m starting to feel hopeful.

Hancock2020 · 21/04/2020 18:33

Ok, so not all symptoms have gone, it would appear as soon as I eat I feel sick for a while. So yey, I guess 🤔

SqidgeBum · 21/04/2020 18:34

@Natopp dont worry! The baby will take all the nutrients it needs from you, but the lack of nutritious food will just effect you, not the baby. Vitamins at this time is more to be sure we get what we need. Baby will basically just bleed us dry.

Hancock2020 · 21/04/2020 18:35

And I've given my boobs the obligatory poke 🤣🤣

Hancock2020 · 21/04/2020 18:37

@Natopp with my other pregnancies I literally ate what I wanted, I've never really been unhealthy but i also dont get 5 a day by any stretch of the imagination, and my boy was a whopping 9lbs8oz so safe to say wouldn't worry too much

burntpinky · 21/04/2020 18:52

@Natopp my diet is terrible and was pre-pregnancy too. I think in the first 12 weeks or until MS subsides it’s a case of just eat what you can and don’t worry about what it is. As long as you’re taking your vitamins you’ll be fine x

Jaffas22 · 21/04/2020 19:00

I had my 12 week scan today. Due 1st November. Iv had very little symptoms and did not feel it was actually happening. Even when baby was moving around on the scan I struggled to comprehend it was happening inside of me!!

Natopp · 21/04/2020 19:09

@ParisInTheSpringtime @SqidgeBum @Hancock2020 @burntpinky

Thanks lovely ladies. Your comments have made me feel less guilty about the baby suffering my bad eating habits. Taking all my vitamins (pregnacare, extra folic, extra iron) but I feel I need to kick myself into gear so I don't become unhealthy myself. Will test the water tomorrow with some healthier meals, my best time to eat I think is the morning as evenings are a write off. Don't want to have lots of extra weight on top of baby weight to try and burn off post pregnancy! Have a friend's wedding (supposedly) in June next year so I'd like to be a good size for that with, I hope, a 7 month in tow!!

Anyway on another note.... Who else is tucked up in bed at 7pm?! Haha

Pcosandpregnant · 21/04/2020 19:25

I’m the same with the food I’m feeling very sorry for myself today 😢 I’m usually really healthy and eat a lot of chicken for lunch and dinner but I haven’t been able to stomach it in weeks, or rice and pasta. I’m still eating a lot of fruit and veg but the only dinners and lunches I seem to like are pork, pizza, chips and sausage rolls! I’m literally eating the same things every day. I’ve convinced myself that if I put on weight it’s going to effect my pcos and that will hurt the baby. But it’s either eat that or just eat cereal all the time! I just hope the chicken, pasta and rice aversion ends in the 2nd trimester and I can eat better again Grin

BuffaloCauliflower · 21/04/2020 19:31

Glad your scan went well @Jaffas22 Smile

I’m feeling increasingly nervous about my scan tomorrow, MMCs seem to be following me about Mumsnet today and it’s hard not to worry, even though I know I have no big reason too. Keep having to remind myself that some babies DO get born, in fact most do. We are all here for a start! Glad DH is going to be able to be there.

Food wise I’ve been up and down. I usually have a pretty good, varied diet but I’ve had a couple of weeks of serious food aversion where I’ve basically only eaten buttery rice, buttery pasta, bread or fish. Not ideal but hasn’t lasted ages. I can eat some veggies again at the moment so taking advantage of that. Still on the buttery rice though! Such comfort

Addler · 21/04/2020 20:00

This on/off exhaustion is killing me. Some days I'm fine and then there's days like today where I fall asleep for 3 hours watching Netflix Confused

I'm back at work on Friday and working straight through until the 11/5 so it's going to be a killer Sad

Sakura54 · 21/04/2020 20:09

I'm not a healthy eater (don't eat much fruit/veg) but I do have a varied diet. I'm pleased that my appetite came back when MS stopped a couple of weeks ago, because if my BMI gets any lower, I will be underweight! I don't seem to have cravings or aversions during my pregnancies though lol...

bluebell94 · 21/04/2020 20:34

@BuffaloCauliflower my scan is tomorrow too and I know I won't sleep tonight with worry. I've got no reason as such to be worried but can't help it. Good luck!

The first couple of weeks I was absolutely starving, always hungry and eating crap but the past few weeks I've no appetite whatsoever. Feel like I'm only eating for the sake of it and it's such a chore. Don't feel sick but just don't feel right if that makes sense 😕

Pink15 · 21/04/2020 20:43

@bluebell94 @BuffaloCauliflower good luck with the scans ladies 😊

Pink15 · 21/04/2020 20:44

Ps I'm so jealous of the early nov babies 😂 my 12 week scan feels like agessssss! I've not even had my booking appointment

Pcosandpregnant · 21/04/2020 20:47

Same as me @Pink15 my due date isn’t until sometime between 24th-28th November! I haven’t had my booking appointment either or even had one scheduled

Hancock2020 · 21/04/2020 20:58

@Pink15 @Pcosandpregnant me too I feel the pain lol

wannabebump · 21/04/2020 21:28

The nerves have really kicked in for the 12 week scan tomorrow 😔 I'm exhausted but I know I won't sleep at all tonight. Haven't been sick at all since I found out I was pregnant although felt sick and been retching - until tonight. Pretty sure it's the nerves.

Good luck to everyone else for tomorrow, I know there are a few of us xx

BuffaloCauliflower · 21/04/2020 21:44

Thanks @Pink15 I’m only 10 weeks, due November 18th. This is an early private scan because I basically can’t wait, and also DH can come and wanted him to be able to be there for the first one.

@bluebell94 good luck to you too. Hopefully we can both report back good news Smile

BuffaloCauliflower · 21/04/2020 21:45

Also haven’t had my booking appointment, next Friday

BuffaloCauliflower · 21/04/2020 21:45

Good luck to you too @wannabebump the nerves are not fun!

FirstBaby2020 · 21/04/2020 21:53

Is anyone on this thread living in Ireland like myself? I've seen a lot of people mention the harmony tests on here and when I googled it for my maternity hospital it says it's an opt in service? Just wondering if I want all that checked should I ask to get it checked before my first hospital scan which dating by my private scan I'll be 13 weeks then? Not sure how to go about it as my induction visit and scan are at the same time so I won't be dealing with anyone in the hospital before then.

BuffaloCauliflower · 21/04/2020 22:01

@FirstBaby2020 Harmony tests are optional in the UK too. They’re £350 where I live. I need to reread the information but I think they’re done around the 12 week scan here.

BuffaloCauliflower · 21/04/2020 22:01

Should add information about them was sent out with my first scan letter
