I had a growth scan today and my little monkey is still breech so I have been booked in for a section next week, has anyone had one since the outbreak how did it work with birthing partners? Also how long will I be in hospital for this is my worst case scenario and I'm petrified thank you in advance xx

All being well you could be out in 24ish hours. Some really useful threads about recovery if you can find them on here x

Laurapb88 · 06/04/2020 20:42

Thank you I'm really hoping that will be the case xx

I had a friend who had one last week -she was out after one night -they really don’t want you hanging around longer than you have to.

Hopingforbabyd · 07/04/2020 08:14

@laurapb88 hey ☺️ I literally feel like I've just written this. I had a presentation scan yesterday as I've been adamant for a while baby is breech but midwife said he isn't. He most certainly is the little monkey! They gave me an option of ECV or c section - ECV idea scares me to death but so does c section with the current situation.
I too will be booked in for next week for c section I just need to call to confirm this is what I'd like to do.
Here as a buddy if you need one - I feel so out my depth at the moment & worried about hubby not being able to be with me for long after the birth. Hoping you are okay & sending you lots of support hugs xx

I had an emergency c section last Saturday lunchtime. I was discharged from hospital at around 5pm on Sunday. I was well enough to leave a few hours before that, but I had to wait for the pharmacy to send my medication down before I could be discharged. My partner was allowed in the birthing center and theatre with me, but not the postnatal ward. I spent about an hour in recovery after and my partner was allowed to stay with me then too. I can understand why you are scared I was too, but please try not to worry too much. All the staff were super kind, helpful and supportive. If you need anything just ask them. And don't forget your partner and family are just a phone call away.

Laurapb88 · 07/04/2020 08:35

Thank you, i was in such a tizzy because I was on my own I didn't ask any questions 😯 sounds like they wont keep me longer than needed and I can have my husband there, I feel reassured.
@Hopingforbabyd good luck the thought of the ecv scares me too and theres no guarantee that's why I decided section xx

@Laurapb88 I felt the same, it's so hard when you just want the support there it's like making a real quick decision and then freaking out if it's the right one. Hey, those babies of ours are just comfy up in there 😄 wishing you lots of luck - if you do get any more info/your experience would you mind popping it on here? Xx

Laurapb88 · 07/04/2020 09:13

They are little monkeys 😊 he is our little ivf miracle so safe is bet I think, and of course I have my pre op on thursday so I'll be asking questions then and I'll let you know xx

I packed for about three days when I had my ELCS so was mightily surprised when they discharged me less than 24 hours later! My CS was at 4pm on the Monday and we were discharged at 7am the following morning.

Hopingforbabyd · 07/04/2020 12:07

@Laurapb88 my baby is ivf too! Congratulations! 🥰 We are due 22nd April and I did have an induction for 16th...15th is my 30 birthday! I've phoned the hospital this morning and I did get very emotional. Just waiting on a call for a date and time 🙈 xx

Hopingforbabyd · 07/04/2020 12:08

@Whoareyoudududu thank you! That is very reassuring! I'm going to pack just in case but hope like yourself for an early discharge xx

Mummyspider27 · 07/04/2020 12:09

Another IVF miracle here too! 🥰 xx

Laurapb88 · 07/04/2020 14:14

Awe how lovely with all our little miracles 😊 I cant help think of the irony of making us wait and work so hard to get them for them to be born in the middle of this 😂, looks like we will be having our babies the same day too good luck guys 😍, I've packed plenty of baby clothes not so much for me tho may have to have a re think thank you xx

@Laurapb88 I got a call and am booked in for Thursday for pre-op and they'll tell me then what day he's coming out 😍😬 xx

Hopingforbabyd · 07/04/2020 16:42

I've just spoken to my mum and she put it so lovely about a breech baby. His head is just below my left rib and she said "he's staying that way because he loves listening to your heart" and that has really cheered me up 🥰❤️

ChikiTIKI · 07/04/2020 16:44

I had a c section on 30th March in Manchester... Husband was with me in theatre the whole time. He stayed with me in recovery and in the enhanced recovery area where visiting times for birth partner are 10am to 10pm. I left after 24 hours straight from enhanced recovery area 😀

Bol87 · 07/04/2020 17:42

My breech baby turned the night before my section last month.. 🥴 at the time, I was really upset as I was all packed, prepared & our older DD away with Grandparents but she then flew out on her due date..!

Good luck, they do try to get you out really quickly from my chats to the consultant, I imagine even more so now!

Laurapb88 · 07/04/2020 19:03

@Hopingforbabyd that's a lovely way to look at it 😊, I'll be honest if he turns at the last minute I'll be over the moon I am genuinely scared of a section but consultant wont let me go past 40 weeks anyway so would be induced. I'm glad your deliveries went well 😊 fingers and toes crossed were home in 24 hours xx

Hey ladies
I too am expecting my first ivf baby, a little boy & I have an elective c section booked for 22 April!
With everything going on I decided I would rather some control and for my partner to be with me rather then be induced and in hospital alone for hours (could be up to 12 hrs with balloon system used at my hospital) and know what to expect.
It's lovely to come across a thread of ladies all due at the same time in the same circumstance as me.
I have been a little stressed out which has resulted in a huge coldsore (which comes with its own risks for a little newborn 😩) so have been having quite a hard time of it! Reading through these posts has def helped me to relax though and feel less alone ❤️
Sending love to you all xx

Hopingforbabyd · 09/04/2020 12:55

@Lozzak21 wishing you all the luck in the world! Not long now and I'm sure once baby is here we will be so caught up in our own little bubbles we will forget about the outside world for a bit xx

@Laurapb88 I got my date today for section! 16th 😁 xx

How are you ladies planning to announce the arrival of baby to friends & family? Are you telling them beforehand? I'm trying to think of a special way to announce his arrival as dad only gets an hour after birth which is sad but just want to be able to announce together 🤔 xx

auntienameyname · 09/04/2020 14:13

So glad i found this thread🥰

Im due my 2nd 28th April but will be having an ELCS around a week before. Havent got a date yet!! Ive heard some good stories of people having sections at my local hospital during this pandemic, its filled me with hope but I am so nervous!! Never had surgery in my life and hoping to get home ASAP to my little girl !!

Eagerly awaiting a date! Will be 38 weeks this coming tuesday and was told id get a phonecall around then🤞🏼

Laurapb88 · 09/04/2020 17:00
