How are you feeling if so? How far along are you?

I’m due 12th August, 21 weeks 1 day today, first baby and I’m having a boy!

I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed with this whole pandemic and the unknown of whether it’s going to be better by then! Fingers crossed for the best.

I also really want to start buying things but feel bad for shopping online given the current scenario, I just don’t want to leave it all til last minute and be really unprepared.

Would love to hear from you all Flowers

@JMill13 oh that is a good idea trying the exercise ball, I might try that.
Yes I'm so anxious all the time, I have a very active baby and love how much I feel it, but also find it super stressful worrying if they haven't moved for a while.

Beau2020 · 22/04/2020 20:21

Aww I'm 25 weeks also! Due 4th August. Feeling lots of movement, like PP said they feel more like rolls and turns now rather than kicks and jabs. I have a very active baby though and I feel her pretty much all day every day. It makes me so proud that I can feel her getting stronger!

Sickness seems to have returned this week which is crap but apart from back ache and being uncomfortable all is good so far!

NishaaS123 · 22/04/2020 20:29

@JMill13 yeah that's definitely the hope things will be calmer nearer our time I have bought clothes and stuff but for some reason just feel so lost as to what to buy and what not to lol

@Lolxx I managed to get sized on h and m and debhnams

mable88 · 22/04/2020 20:44

@cannotmakemymindup I had a random sick the other day, which was really weird - I felt really nauseous for the first 12 weeks but was only sick a couple of times and then a couple of weeks ago I’d just eaten breakfast and within minutes it had reappeared! I put it down to waiting too long between getting up and eating as I’d got to the pint of seeing sick through hunger before eating.

I’m struggling to find any newborn sized stuff online that isn’t really expensive - think I’ll go to our big Tesco nearer the time and just get whatever newborn size stuff they have. Baby probably won’t be in newborn size for too long anyway!

cannotmakemymindup · 22/04/2020 21:45

@Beau2020 @mable88
I have just realised my sickness today may be tied into me having my Whooping cough injection on Monday. It's one of the common side effects in adults (Upto 1 in 10) nausea, diarrhoea and sickness. So I'm really hoping it improves tomorrow as my DH had to come home from work (self employed) to look after my DD so that she could actually get some school work done and exercise as I needed to nap/rest.

JMill13 · 22/04/2020 22:25

@cannotmakemymindup I keep having biley sick if I brush my teeth too early in the morning. Thankfully working from home I can push it back to nearer lunchtime before I do it now or if I don't eat enough or the heartburn gets too much.

@lolxx I managed to find a bunch of plain vests, socks, sleepsuits and things for newborn and 0-3 months on Next. They've reopened their website for a brief number of orders per day. Prices aren't too bad considering it's Next either. Worth having a look at there's some really nice stuff. I just ordered in case it was too hard to get to Tesco/Asda as my OH won't let me go as too risky at the minute.

If anyone needs I can share the list of essentials my friend sent to me in case you find it helpful.

Lolxx · 22/04/2020 22:33

Thanks everyone! I’ll have a look on next & H&M in the next few weeks☺️ I managed to get some newborn/0-3 stuff on Asda online but it was very limited

JMill13 · 22/04/2020 22:36

@lolxx took me a few times to get on to the Next website because nothing is available once they decide they've hit their quota for the day but was definitely worth it

sel2223 · 22/04/2020 22:42

I've had the sickness returning thing too. Had it bad in the first trimester then thought I was done after about 15 weeks but once or twice a week now it rears its ugly head again.

Jj2431 · 22/04/2020 23:20

I'm 22+2 due august 24th. Anyone else having right rib pain? I've been worried but it feels like a pulled muscle

cannotmakemymindup · 22/04/2020 23:27

Sorry that lot's of you are feeling the same with the sickness, but I am glad that I am not alone in this! Definitely going to try to make sure I am eating enough. Think I have been worrying about eating to much as food budget has had to increase by 25% due to higher costs etc, and just haven't been able to believe I was actually that hungry after so many weeks where food was the enemy (due to sickness).

Can't say I have had any rib pains. Just my back! Sorry.

mable88 · 22/04/2020 23:31

I haven’t had any rib pains but I did read this morning that at about this stage the ribs can start getting shifted about as baby grows which causes discomfort, so it could be that maybe?

WorriedButterfly · 22/04/2020 23:43

@JMill13 I'm due on the 21st too! I've experienced exactly the same with the movements and I've read quite a few people seem to experience less movement in week 22.

I haven't bought anything yet - I keep thinking I should but just looking at the mo. I booked NCT earlier, is anyone else doing the online course?

Nfblues · 22/04/2020 23:46

Nice to hear from everyone! I’m 24 weeks tomorrow and I feel good physically, finally feeling real movements!! It’s so strange but so exciting, DH occasionally can feel her too, like a little pulse he says but for me it’s quite strong and often surprises me when I lay in bed. Also using the Down Dog prenatal yoga app (currently free during corona if anyone is interested!) which is nice and also helps me fart when I’m getting constipated so that’s good, better than feeling so blocked up. Sorry for the TMIBlushGrin

We were in the middle of a house purchase before corona and now the housing market is suspended. It’s a bit depressing because I would have loved to start planning the nursery and buying furniture but we don’t really know what’s happening or when we’re moving so can’t do that. I know it sounds silly and it’s insignificant in the grand scheme of things but I was really looking forward to painting and putting up decor and folding little baby clothes to put awaySad. Our current place is rented and we don’t have a spare room, I’ve just about made space next to the bed in our room for the bedside crib to go (lots of decluttering whilst on lockdown!) but that’s all we have space for. Guess I’m changing nappies on the bedroom floor!

We have got quite a few other random bits though such as a bath support, baby swing, play mat, some books etc. We’ve got a few clothes in newborn and 0-3m also, DH is just picking up one or two every few weeks during a food shop.

We were supposed to be in Portugal this week for our baby moon and I had booked a maternity photo shoot there. I’m considering getting dressed one day and doing it in the garden but a little embarrassed in case the neighbours see lool.

Sorry for the essay, I don’t talk about my pregnancy to my family/friends so it’s nice to be able to waffle on about it to people Blush

Beau2020 · 23/04/2020 00:12

@cannotmakemymindup oh no! I still need to book in my whooping cough jab, I'm absolutely dreading it!

Sorry to hear others morning sickness has returned. I've noticed that I have a terrible taste in my side alongside this, making foods taste less enjoyable xx

cannotmakemymindup · 23/04/2020 01:27

@Beau2020 the jab itself was fine. Really quick etc,. Plus on the whole side effects side I get to be the 1 in 10 for all of you 😄
My arm was a little sore but that's it! Plus maybe it's just the pregnancy sickness rearing it's ugly head again.

@Nfblues waffle away. I to am very glad for this thread. We're all going through something unique and it's okay to acknowledge that. Plus our dreams, wishes and hopes have had to be curtailed to a certain extent. I to was hoping to go away with my husband for a night or two to a spa as baby will be to little to leave when it is our anniversary. We were looking to move to a larger rented property, as well but are definitely staying put for the foreseeable future. So we have had to rejig things around.

squashie34 · 23/04/2020 06:42

@Nfblues I say sod what the neighbours think and you absolutely have that photoshoot in the garden; you will want some bump pictures to look back on in years to come and us preggy ladies have had a lot taken away from this pregnancy so I say go for it and make yourself feel amazing for an afternoon! 🥰

I'm 25 weeks now and can feel myself slowing down slightly already (could be the lockdown food binges?! 🙄) but other than that I feel ok. How amazing is it feeling those kicks getting stronger??

I do however really need to stop obsessing over the news as it's going to start impacting my mental health- I constantly refresh the daily mail just in the hope of seeing the words ‘everything will be back to normal by August’; I'm totally happy to isolate away from family to keep little one safe until then, but it breaks my heart for our bubbas to be born and family not get to have cuddles. I know the rational part of me says it's 3 months away and no news outlet can tell you what will happen by then!

Rachyrach1930 · 23/04/2020 08:16

Hey all, hope it's ok for I to join the group as due 6the August. It's been a rollercoaster getting to the point but wont bore you with all the details Smile. I too am a little anxious with all this pandemic, my boss doesn't think I'll be back this year. I hope she's wrong and I get to do a proper handover to whoever takes my maternity cover. Just a question, has anyone researched about 4d scans? I appreciate they are not essential but wondered if anyone has given it any thought. I'm around 25 weeks so still a little early to have one but was wondering if anyone has had good/bad experiences? We've been told the baby has a cleft lip which is more of a reason I would like to see it so I'm prepared for the birth. Plus would like something to look forward to. Hope everyone is ok and enjoying their special time as much as possible xx

squashie34 · 23/04/2020 08:41

@Rachyrach1930 do you have a window to the womb clinic in your area? I know they are open in some places and maybe they will do 4D scans? Although I'm not sure if they're just reassurance ones. Maybe if you mentioned about the Cleft palate they might be more inclined?

stairgates · 23/04/2020 08:42

Another new thread joiner here, due the 5th :) I didnt realise we had a thread!

No experience of 4d scans Rachy unfortunately:)

I will catch up with the thread more later but for now I hope everyone is well!

Nfblues · 23/04/2020 08:50

@squashie34 haha thanks, may have to do it as just realised I don’t really have any pictures with the bump considering I’ve been in PJs non stop for a month! Do try not to read the news, I know it’s hard but the more you take it the more anxious you might feel. Things are changing every week never mind by the time August arrives. From what I’ve read and seen, looks like they’re hoping it’s back to normal by the end of summer so I’m hoping we’re lucky and our August babies will be born when it’s all relatively normal. Our parents live 3ish hours away so they won’t be able to pop by to see baby through a window like I’ve seen on FB, it is a bit sad but what can we do!

@Rachyrach1930 Just a week or so before lockdown I had a private gender scan at window to the womb which included a 4D scan - it was a bit early for one and baby did look a bit alien like and weird tbh. If you’ve got one local to you they may still be doing them? x

Nfblues · 23/04/2020 08:53

Forgot to add I was only 17 weeks then hence baby looking weird as she was quite bony and not fully developed, I’m sure she looks just fine now that she’s fattened up!Grin

Rachyrach1930 · 23/04/2020 09:01

Thank you for the responses, will have a look in the next couple of weeks of what's around. I did ring one clinic to test the water and they said they weren't doing 4d scans as not classed as essential which I do completely understand. Really don't want to miss out on this experience but i suppose what will be will be. Thank you for the support x

falkor32 · 23/04/2020 09:07

Hello, I'd love to join in with you all - my baby is due on the 5th August with my first, we're having a baby girl!

Had my 25 week midwife appointment over the phone yesterday, but have been told my next one at 28 weeks will be face to face.

If this is of interest to anyone, as I learnt this yesterday for where I'm based (Oxfordshire). The antenatal pathway has changed so my next midwife appointments are now 28,32,36,39 & 41 weeks instead of the usual 28,31,34,36,38,40,41 and 42 that's on the NHS website for first time mums. Was also told that 36 scans are still running on a day to day basis, based on staffing levels so the the one I have booked in July, I hope will happen still if this haven't changed and there are enough staff members on the day.

Was also told that the biggest impact to services at the moment are unfortunately the breastfeeding support after bith (as in no face to face breastfeeding clinics etc.) but hoping as some of you have mentioned this will change on a week by week basis so fingers crossed things are much better by August!

falkor32 · 23/04/2020 09:09

sorry for the poor grammar in my post!
