How are you feeling if so? How far along are you?

I’m due 12th August, 21 weeks 1 day today, first baby and I’m having a boy!

I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed with this whole pandemic and the unknown of whether it’s going to be better by then! Fingers crossed for the best.

I also really want to start buying things but feel bad for shopping online given the current scenario, I just don’t want to leave it all til last minute and be really unprepared.

Would love to hear from you all Flowers

@oldestchild90s haha I was the same, a whole load of videos of my stomach and me pressing to try and get her to kick. Then yesterday she was moving and I had my phone in my hand and managed to get it.

Then sent to MIL, My mum, sister etc, all of them replied with 'lovely, but what am I looking for!' definitely not noticeable just yet on video Grin

Oldestchild90s · 09/05/2020 11:44

@Thekindyoufindinasecondhand Haha know that feeling! Every time she kicked i'd get my partner to come and feel, i'd say 'did you feel that?' 'No' 'did you feel that one?' 'No' hours later he finally felt a kick 😂 he was happy in the end but what an annoying process 😂😂😂

mable88 · 09/05/2020 13:05

Really helpful lists, thanks for sharing ladies. Although thinking about packing a hospital bag makes it all feel very real and now I’m a bit panicky! Confused

My hubby is getting really frustrated about feeling kicks - I’m sure she is kicking hard enough to be felt now but he’s so impatient and will put his hand on bump for about 10 seconds and then gives up! I can definitely feel her externally now so I’m sure he would if he was a bit more patient! Not sure I’m at the filming stage yet but I don’t think we’re far off! Smile

Beth804 · 09/05/2020 13:09

Hospital bag lists are great thanks girls!

@squashie34 I've just spent the last couple of days in and out of hospital due to getting OC diagnosed 🙄 How are they managing yours? All the guidelines seem to have changed after having it with my dd 3 years ago!

StephD2020 · 09/05/2020 13:39

@cannotmakemymindup yes to getting clumsier! I feel it's more of a balance thing (ie when I'm doing my slut drop to have a good look in the fridge I sometimes end up teetering backwards lol). Can imagine it's only going to get worse!

@oldestchild90s @mable88 it took a while for DH to feel her moving but now he knows what he is feeling for he gets it. She's doing whopper kicks in there now so it's really undeniable. 🥰

cannotmakemymindup · 09/05/2020 14:00

@StephD2020 your comment is making ne really grateful for the fridge/freezer combo we have otherwise, I think I would get stuck going into the fridge to look for food!

I got stuck on the floor last time I was pregnant just trying to get tea bags out of a low cupboard! Not going to make the same mistake this time.

heroineinahalfshell · 09/05/2020 14:21

Ah I'm jealous of all of you who can feel kicks already, my little one is definitely not kicking yet, still just feeling hiccups and flips. 26w today so hopefully it won't be long now!

Hospital bag lists super helpful, thank you ladies.

2020Aug · 09/05/2020 14:36

I managed to get one video but been trying to get a better one but baby stops kicking as soon as I start filming. DH felt hiccups for the first time the other day, I didn't tell him what they were I just said feel here. He said what an earth is happening it's this rhythmic twitch ha, he was very excited when I said hiccups!

StephD2020 · 09/05/2020 14:58

@cannotmakemymindup that's hilarious! My other half thinks it's funny to watch me on the floor for a bit flailing around like a beetle on its back. Can't wait until he is subjected to 5am early starts by the little lady. That will be revenge! 🤣

squashie34 · 09/05/2020 17:17

@Beth804 sorry to hear you've got OC too.. my itching has been unbearable the last two days because of the humidity 😩 I'm having blood tests every week in the fetal well-being unit to keep an eye on the levels and if it gets too high they will put me on Urso to try and bring it down. Anti histamines for the itch 3x a day but they don't help really. I had an extra growth scan at 27 weeks this week and then saw the consultant afterwards- because you don't normally find it diagnosed until after 30 weeks it's just a case of monitoring it for now I think which they seem to be pretty good at doing. The doctor phoned me the day after my consultant appointment to say that my levels had risen further so they're keeping me in the loop too. Nothing has been said about early induction yet except from the original doctor in the labour triage that diagnosed it but I guess that's because it's still quite a while away? I'm packing my hospital bag this weekend so I'm ready just incase!

How are they treating yours? Were you induced early last time?

Nfblues · 09/05/2020 22:08

@squashie34 oh dear that’s exactly what I’m worried about! Our pram set is now discontinued so if they cancel it, I won’t even be able to order it againConfused Just hoping they reply to my email, I’ll give them a few days then will be chasing them up on Twitter. What if I go into labour early and am not allowed home with baby cuz I don’t have a car seat!Shock

Thank you ladies for the hospital bag tips, very helpful. I am planning on packing a cabin sized suitcase with everything just in case - likely won’t need half of it but Sod’s law isn’t it, if I don’t take it I’ll need it!

@heroineinahalfshell I’m also 26 weeks and have only just started having proper kicks recently and definitely can’t feel from the outside. I’ve noticed baby is more active at certain times so DH has been trying to feel but neither of us are sure if he can feel or not lol

Love the slut drops for the fridge! I’m also doing that a lot, as well as lots of grunting to get in and out of the bath haha

Beth804 · 09/05/2020 22:38

@squashie34 ah bless you, my itching is still bearable, but I know it's going to get worse!

Yes I'm in weekly for bloods and ctg, they haven't mentioned any scans yet though. I'm having twins and my 24 and 28 week growth scans were cancelled due to the virus, so it'll be a bonus if I do get a scan! It was a nightmare trying to get both heartbeats on the ctg yesterday, they just wouldn't stay still! I'm 25 weeks now and they said they're used to tracing bigger babies, I guess they can't swim about as much!

My consultant said they don't give urso anymore as it's been proven not to help 🤷‍♀️ I took it last time though, I was induced at 37w but my levels got quite high towards the end.

She said normal practice is to induce at 39 weeks now, unless bile acids are over 100, then it's 34/35 weeks 😬 Think that's quite rare though xx

Chez2306 · 10/05/2020 07:28

Hey all, I'm going to jump on this too if that's ok?

I'm 27 weeks as of tomorrow and due August 10th!

Had the worst pregnancy imaginable from bleeding early on, having HG until 20 weeks, mother in law had gender disappointment and now finding out my fiancé has cheating so will be bringing up the baby alone🙃.

Anyway it'll be nice to have women around who are pregnant and due the same time as me to chat to! Xx

squashie34 · 10/05/2020 07:31

@Beth804 wow isn't it crazy how different consultants think different things, mine seemed very sure that once levels got above a certain cut off they would prescribe urso.. maybe she's a little outdated 😆 also about the 39 weeks as I'd been told 37 weeks latest by the doctor on the labour triage ward.. and to be honest if the risk of stillbirth increases between 38-39 weeks I really would just want her out at 37! I do also know that if your itching gets too bad they will induce you around then too just to put you out of your misery as it's meant to stop once you give birth right? A people have mentioned to me that it's quite common for women with OC to have a fast labour, is that what you felt last time?! Will they induce you early with twins too?

squashie34 · 10/05/2020 07:33

@Chez2306 hello lovely nice to meet you! Wow it seems like you have had the most awful few months, you poor thing 🙁 what a scumbag! at least now your MIL can take her snobbiness about the gender and stick it where the sun doesn't shine hey! You sound incredible to have such a positive mindset.. you are all your little one needs ❤️ are you having a little boy or little girl? Xx

squashie34 · 10/05/2020 07:38

@Nfblues yes give them a couple of days to reply to the email but if not search ask mamas and papas on twitter and then direct message them. I did threaten to post a tweet about their awful service so maybe that made them reply 🤣 I just really wanted that wallpaper haha! Try not to worry too much, worst comes to worst and baby does arrive in the next few weeks before you get anything they'd likely be in hospital for a little stay anyway, giving your other half ample time to panic order a car seat 🤭 have you looked on other baby sites for the pushchair model as they might still have stock?

Bert2020 · 10/05/2020 07:48

Hi @Chez2306 what a crazy time you’ve had. Hope you are ok?

Oldestchild90s · 10/05/2020 08:26

@Chez2306 Hello. Like others have said what a crazy time you've had when it should be a lovely time. But well done for staying positive, this thread is great for anything you ever need to ask or get off your chest! 🥰

Beth804 · 10/05/2020 08:48

@squashie34 I know! To be honest, sounds like yours is following the guidelines that I did last time round - no harm doing that though! 🤷‍♀️ I had a look at the research (it's from last year) and basically says there's no increased risk to babies if your bile acids are under 100 which is why it's now 39 weeks (just hedging their bets I suppose!) obvs they still need to monitor though in case things change!

Mine wasn't a fast labour - sorry! She just wasn't ready at 37 weeks so induction took 3 pessaries 8 hours apart before cervix started opening slightly, then they just managed to get in to break my waters then was on the oxytocin drip which ramped things up more quickly! Think I went into hospital on the Thursday and had her the Saturday night. Ended up with jaundice too so had to go back in for 5 days to get that under control, think that was with her being a bit early.

I'll be induced at 37 weeks with it being twins anyway, so it's just keeping an eye on levels until then!

Beth804 · 10/05/2020 08:52

@Chez2306 Wow, what a shit time - hope you've got some great family and friends around you 😘
Onwards and upwards from now and focus on that gorgeous baby! Xx

squashie34 · 10/05/2020 08:55

@Beth804 I'm so surprised with how frequently the levels can change too.. last week my levels went down and I was so happy when the consultant told me at the 27 week scan. Had some more bloods done when I was there, doctor phoned up the next day to say they were back up again more than before 😆🙈 so I get why they need to constantly monitor it which I guess is a good thing!

Damn you've burst my bubble now, I thought the one upside to this OC was that she would come shooting out 🤣 no such luck! Sounds like a long old induction. Was she ok other than the jaundice? Didn't need a stay in nicu or anything?

Bet you can't wait to meet your little twins! I love twins .

2020Aug · 10/05/2020 12:23

Wow @Chez2306 hope you're ok.

I've been wondering what size baggage people are using for a hospital bag. Planning to pack mine at 30 weeks but started making sure I've got stuff for it. I wasn't sure if it would all fit in a cabin size case.

cannotmakemymindup · 10/05/2020 13:26

@2020Aug I definitely packed two bags at least for hospital last time. So one for labour and one for after plus babies stuff in a separate bag! Totally felt like bag lady although felt like that after I had baby to. I think I had large travel bags.

@Chez2306 welcome to this group. Sorry you have had a rough time. Hopefully it gets simplier and easier for you now moving forward.

WorriedButterfly · 10/05/2020 14:22

Hey ladies, I just wondered if any of you had experienced any bleeding at 25 weeks? En route to hospital (as they've called me in) so scared I can hardly breathe! X

sel2223 · 10/05/2020 14:34

@WorriedButterfly sorry to hear that. Try and stay calm if you can and just remember that there are all kinds of reasons you could be bleeding and that the vast majority are harmless. Thinking of you x
