How are you feeling if so? How far along are you?

I’m due 12th August, 21 weeks 1 day today, first baby and I’m having a boy!

I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed with this whole pandemic and the unknown of whether it’s going to be better by then! Fingers crossed for the best.

I also really want to start buying things but feel bad for shopping online given the current scenario, I just don’t want to leave it all til last minute and be really unprepared.

Would love to hear from you all Flowers

Hope everything is ok @squashie34

Beau2020 · 04/05/2020 08:28

@squashie34 definitely best to give midwife or triage a call if you're worried! When I was in hospital they hooked me up to a monitor and it measured babies heart rate, movements and if there was any contractions. And then you have to press a button everytime you feel any kind of movement, kick or roll. Hope you're okay! Xx

squashie34 · 04/05/2020 08:40

Thanks ladies, they've told me to come in to fetal well-being after I've had something to eat to put me on the ctg monitor which must be what you are explaining @Beau2020 ? X

Beau2020 · 04/05/2020 09:43

@squashie34

Yes that's the one! Hopefully you'll be able to get some reassurance from that! 💕💕🤞🤞

StephD2020 · 04/05/2020 10:06

@Beau2020 did you find out what had caused the bleed in the end or did they think it was just a random one off?

@mable88 I've had a few days like that so know how you feel. Maybe go for a nice long walk or something to take your mind off things if you can? Especially as it's nice weather today?

I count all movements @squashie34 but defo best to get checked if you are noticing something different for sure. Let us know how you get on! X

cannotmakemymindup · 04/05/2020 10:24

@squashie34 really hope your appointment goes well and they see baby just having a lazy day!

I actually had to ring maternity triage myself yesterday morning because my baby had massively slowed down movements, for about 24 hours but thankfully perked up yesterday evening as usual. So I didn't go in. Although I had a Midwife appointment today early am so that helped to know I was getting seen. However I to am keeping an eye on the movements.

2020Aug · 04/05/2020 10:34

I'm finding it really hard as my baby seems to be in a pattern where they're quiet one day, then mad kicking the next. It's been like it over a week and went in last weekend and also spoke to the midwife again on Wed on the quieter days. I could tell they were in a different position last night and fortunately still got some wiggles so wasn't too worried. Baby has now been really active the last two hours, keeps kicking near my ribs - only had one strong kick actually in the ribs so far - ouch!

squashie34 · 04/05/2020 10:55

Thanks ladies, Baby had decided to get herself into a nice awkward position, lying diagonally and wedged in so that just her shoulder blades were facing me 😂 took the midwife a while to find her heartbeat and had to dig right in to get it! The ctg showed a few movements but I couldn't feel them and then a couple I did (typical!) so it's likely because of the position but they were happy with heart rate and everything. Apparently 26/27 weeks is a tricky gestation because you feel some movements but they're not strong enough to feel them all so they see ladies quite often at this time.

However just had a call off a lovely midwife at the hospital who was checking for any covid symptoms before my scan and consultant appt tomorrow and she said don't assume after going in once and it being ok that accounts for more future reduced movements and to make sure throughout the day we 'take time to put our feet up and check in on baby'. Her words were 'you wouldn't leave little one in the cot all day until they cried you'd keep checking in on them so do the same and after breakfast and lunch have 20 minutes to sit back with your feet up and check they're wriggling' which i thought was lovely and I never do that. I did feel a bit silly going in but they never ever make you feel like you're overreacting.

cannotmakemymindup · 04/05/2020 10:56

@2020Aug I know it's frustrating not knowing when or if to be concerned on quiet days. These babies sure are keeping us on our toes!

sel2223 · 04/05/2020 11:02

@squashie34 pleased everything is ok...I was told that 24-28 weeks is a tricky time as baby is still only small so has space to move into some really awkward positions and hasn't really established a pattern yet. These little ones certainly like to keep us on our toes.

I've got an anterior placenta which muffles a lot of movements anyway and had about 48 hours last week where i could only feel very faint movements and a lot less frequent than I'd become used to. I felt happy as long as I could feel something though and my gut told me it was just her position.....sure enough, she was soon back to normal and kicking like crazy so she's obviously changed positions again.

2020Aug · 04/05/2020 12:03

Nice to know I am not alone with the worry of movements and quieter days. Sounds like from 28 weeks things will get easier movement wise.

Anyone keep wondering what their baby is going to look like? I don't know the sex so keep wondering whether it's a he or she! But my husband and I are so different in hair/eye colouring, I keep wondering who they will take after!

cannotmakemymindup · 04/05/2020 12:39

@squashie34 really glad to hear everything is okay. Phew! Also really great information recieved from that Midwife. So helpful.

Superscientist · 04/05/2020 13:26

I'm a red-head and I think it would be nice if she was too - my partner has hints of red in his beard so it's a possiblity, although his blonde hair is more likely
With eye colour, the odds are in my favour as I have dark brown eyes and my partner has blue eyes but my sister is blue eyed so I could be brown/blue and therefore she could get blue eyes.

Re movement, I have been mostly having small movements that come and go aside from when I'm trying to get to sleep! Some days they are more forceful I had been assuming it was down to her changing position its reassuring that some of you are having similar.

JMill13 · 04/05/2020 13:48

It's making me laugh how similar we all seem to be at this stage. Babies are just keeping us all on our toes it would seem.

Past couple of days I've felt light kicks/nudges really far down, like past my belly near my pelvis. Should they not all be round my belly? I'm so clueless with pregnancy.

Am patiently waiting for 'Hypnobirthing: practical ways to make your birth better' by Siobhan Miller arriving in the post. Have read so many great reviews on it and the Positive Birth Company IG page. Has anyone read it?

I to can't help wondering what baby will look like. I'm naturally blonde with super curly hair and my boyfriend is kinda ginger-y but both of us have a sister each with super dark brown hair naturally, my dad was white blonde as a kid but as he got older went dark brown. And my brother is blonde but has a gingery tinge and ginger skin. So it's going to be interesting to see how this LO turns out. I've a feeling it's going to be at least a little bit ginger though. Also can't wait to find out if it's a girl or boy now.

Beau2020 · 04/05/2020 14:06

They didn't say what the cause of the bleed was, but I have a feeling it's internal haemorrhoids. They did a vaginal and rectal scan but found no traces of blood whatsoever which suggests it's internal they said.

Baby is moving so much it hurts, my whole tummy is sore and haven't had much sleep lol! They also found I had a UTI so it could all be linked perhaps.

Glad to hear everything is okay @squashie34

kaxxz · 04/05/2020 15:28

Hey

I haven't had any strong baby kicks/punches in over 24 hours but I have been feeling bubbles, and lighter movements. I did receive some tummy pain but nothing too uncomfortable. Not sure whether I should call triage, last time I raised this to my gp who said it's normal for a reduction in movements until 28 weeks. I feel nervous waiting to hear a stronger movement.

cannotmakemymindup · 04/05/2020 16:28

@Kaxxz did you see the link above from Tommys? Also if you are worried best thing is to ring. Your Gp is not a Midwife nor specialist in obgyn so do what you think is best.
Just talking to triage may ease your concerns or they make think it's important to see you! They never mind us ringing or think we're wasting time!

sel2223 · 04/05/2020 16:39

@Kaxxz yeah, that's how mine were for 48 hours....just really faint flutters/pops and I had to really concentrate to feel them. She's back to normal now so was obviously just her position.
It does seem to be pretty common at this stage but always call the midwife or hospital if you're in any doubt as it's better to be safe than sorry.

squashie34 · 04/05/2020 16:41

@kaxxz how many weeks are you lovely? There's honestly no trouble as other ladies have said in ringing the maternity triage so they can advise you further- they're the experts. I'm really glad I went in this morning to put my mind at rest or I'd have been worrying all day for any smidge of a movement

Oldestchild90s · 04/05/2020 16:50

Finally found a thread i can relate to!! 15th August due date for my first ❤️😍 how is everyone feeling ?

sel2223 · 04/05/2020 16:52

@JMill13 that's where all my movements are.....low down, a good few inches below my belly button. I've got a high anterior placenta so think that stops me feeling anything higher up

@2020Aug I keep wondering what baby will look like too. I wasn't patient enough to wait so we know it's a girl but I'm fair skinned with blonde hair and blue eyes where OH is olive skinned with dark brown hair and hazel eyes.

JMill13 · 04/05/2020 16:59

@sel2233 it's weird down there. Feel like baby has it's legs or arms all the way down. Then other times I feel nothing but then a baby body part sticks right out of my belly near my belly button. Can't wait for another scan to see what it's up to in there

JMill13 · 04/05/2020 17:00

@oldestchild90s welcome and congrats! Hows it all going so far?

sel2223 · 04/05/2020 17:01

@JMill13 I agree, it feels really weird....I have no idea what position baby is in so don't know if it's arms, legs, head, bum or what.
I never feel anything at all around my belly button or further up. It's always really low down.

mable88 · 04/05/2020 17:03

Agggh is just written a whole response and now it’s deleted Confused

@StephD2020 feeling better today, went for a nice walk with hubby and had work to do, so keeping busy has helped Smile

My little madam has been quieter for the last couple of days - have felt the odd movement and when hubby shouted at my bump earlier (to try and get her moving!) I swear she elbowed me! But then last night she was super active, so I’m not too worried. Still quite early for her to be in a regular pattern (nearly 25 weeks for me!)

I can’t wait to see what she looks like - desperate for her to get my husbands eyelashes as they are so long and gorgeous like a jersey cow!! Eye wise I think she’s 50:50, I’m brown and he’s blue but my dad has blue eyes so I must also have the blue gene? (Trying to remember my GCSE biology! Dominant and recessive alleles?!) Hair wise I think she’ll be darkish, I’m brown and he’s dark blonde. So exciting to imagine what this tiny person will be like!! Grin
