@Jaffas22, if you feel up to it, i'd call again and insist you speak to someone else or if you have someone ask them to do it for you.

The way you feel is perfectly valid, the way you hope your pregnancy will go is for I think every pregnant women right now is not what they were hoping for at all.

I've felt a bit disappointed as I don't feel like the care we're getting is how it should have been but at least the midwives were apologetic when they forgot about my booking appointment.

BS9790 · 10/04/2020 18:11

@Emsnewmum, the same dates as me! 11 weeks tomorrow with edd of 31/10! I've got my dating scan on Thursday (16th), literally counting down the minutes. I also had a miscarriage in December, so tiny steps this time! Hope you're doing OK x

Jaffas22 · 10/04/2020 18:30

@1990shopefulftm, my partner has managed to book a private scan for sunday, luckily there still allowing partners so I guess if it is bad news I won’t be on my own.

I totally agree, we aren’t getting the care we should be at the moment but I understand that’s out of their hands and not their fault... but it shouldn’t affect their ability to care about people.

Maybe it’s just me and my first time mum expectations, I’m not so sure. Hopefully just had a bad day and I’ll feel better tomorrow after some rest... thanks for listening though!

Danielle95lab · 10/04/2020 18:33

@Jaffas22 that's absolutely disgusting behaviour!! Get them rang back and demand to go in. What a joke they are. I know the world is going to shit but you have a right to know what's happening with your body and baby. I agree with you, the lack of care for pregnant women the past few months has been a shambles.

Let me know how you get on! I really hope it's nothing serious lovely. I have everything crossed for you xxx

1990shopefulftm · 10/04/2020 19:02

@Jaffas22 you shouldn't have had to do that but I hope you get some reassurance on Sunday and I m glad you don't have to go alone.

Mc3209 · 10/04/2020 19:14

@Danielle95lab and @SophieJosie95 thank you, I feel better now.

@Jaffas22 I've got everything crossed for you. Stress and current situation does not excuse lack of normal human compassion. I am sorry you had such a terrible experience. I hope things go well on Sunday.

@Jaffas22
My understanding was that they'd see us straight away for a scan if we had bleeding so I really feel for you that they said that, I'll have everything crossed for you for Sunday

WaveStreet · 10/04/2020 21:49

@Jaffas22 sorry to hear about your experience so far. I was also under the same impression that blood combined with pain would be enough to be seen by the EPU to check on you and your baby.

How are you feeling now?

SophieJosie95 · 10/04/2020 21:51

@Jaffas22 I would ring 111 lovely and seek advice. Telling you to wait nearly 2 weeks is ridiculous no matter what's going on.

They'll ask if you've had any cramping as that's the most common sign. Even if it's just for some reassurance.

When I went into hospital for Hyperemesis they were appalled at the service I'd received from my GP & midwife not taking my sickness seriously to the point I had to be hospitalised.

It's not on and you're a first time mum going through this in the current climate too & you still deserve & have rights to care.

I'm sorry you're not getting good service xx

KitKatKit · 11/04/2020 06:17

@Jaffas22 I'm so sorry that you're having such a bad experience. It's really not ok and I am appalled that despite cramping and bleeding, they still wouldn't see you. Crossing everything for you that it's all okay. X

UpsyDaisy1234 · 11/04/2020 06:35

@Jaffas22 There's no excuse for such inhumane treatment. I am sorry you had to go through such experience. I am glad you have booked a private scan (which you should never had to) and I am hoping that its nothing serious. Please let us know how it goes. We are all here for you. Look after yourself pls xxx

Jaffas22 · 11/04/2020 08:19

Thankyou everyone for your kind words, honestly means so much.

Yeah they said under normal circumstances they would give a scan but with the current climate with covid they aren’t inviting any pregnant women with bleeding to the hospital for a scan.

I’m still disgusted by it all, but iv slept and feel better. Woke up at 3am with pain in my back but the bleeding has stopped.

Hoping and praying tomorrow brings good news. I will keep you all posted. Thanks again💕

DressingGown87 · 11/04/2020 09:14

@jaffas22 Sorry I’ve just caught up. Hope you ok? Patient care shouldn’t be compromised in this current climate, the Government has made that clear. You’ve followed the guidelines, and Called them. If that’s their “strict guidelines” they should be more sympathetic and try help you the best they can. They need to understand the impact that this will have on FTM, and anyone for that matter. Have you tried speaking to your midwife?

Glad you’ve got a private scan booked. Have everything crossed for you. X

roarfeckingroar · 11/04/2020 09:47

My darling partner informed me this morning that the baby doesn't grow inside the placenta. I knew it was inside the amniotic sac, I knew it was attached the umbilical cord, but I always thought it was also inside the placenta, somehow. I did biology bloody A level!

WhatWouldPennyDo · 11/04/2020 09:57

@Jaffas22 thinking of you at what must be a scary time. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that everything is ok at your scan tomorrow.

roarfeckingroar · 11/04/2020 11:07

Gosh that's not good care @Jaffas22 . Can you go in to the EPU? I hope you get answers and better support soon.

1990shopefulftm · 11/04/2020 13:02

To those that have had babies before, are antenatal classes particularly helpful? I m wondering whether to bother with online ones or just spend the money on more books that could be useful.

Flora20 · 11/04/2020 14:25

@roarfeckingroar 😂

@1990shopefulftm I didn't do any last time round. Planned to do hypnobirthing at the hospital but they kept being oversubscribed and I ended up just buying the book and downloads that they used. Which I would recommend, I really liked that. I read quite a few books so I felt I had a good understanding of what would happen and why, and that plus the hypnobirthing book worked really well. Had a fab birth and I certainly didn't feel under-prepared.

1990shopefulftm · 11/04/2020 14:36

@Flora20 I'll stick with the books then :) i have a rough idea what i'd like my birth to be like but having to wait and see if corona is over by then as I really want to be in the midwife unit that is attached to the hospital.

I'll be having baby in the hospital on the channel 5 maternity ward documentary so that's been helping me feeling more informed.

Mc3209 · 11/04/2020 16:39

@1990shopefulftm Giving birth in front of a camera? That's cool. I like that program, watch it more since I got pregnant.

OP posts:
Mc3209 · 11/04/2020 16:40

I am not even thinking about birth at present, trying to get through all the scans first, hopefully with sanity intact.

OP posts:
1990shopefulftm · 11/04/2020 16:40

@Mc3209 no it's just called maternity ward :)

roarfeckingroar · 11/04/2020 22:29

I've gone from not showing to obviously having a bit of a bump over what feels like about five days. It's very very weird. I'm 14 weeks tomorrow, going to be huge in a few months Confused

FirstTimeBumps · 12/04/2020 07:56

I don't come on here for days and then I feel like I'm miles behind sorry!

@Jaffas22 that's appalling treatment. Have a look on maternity action. I know some trusts are going against government advice (Norwich & oxford I believe are particularly appalling) and not giving women the basics they should receive in antenatal care. Keeping everything crossed for you today.

@1990shopefulftm I did hypnobirthing & parent educationwith one to one midwives last time. It was fun but I wouldn't say particularly useful. I was literally the most calm person ever when my home water birth went to . My OH was flapping. My mum was on the phone flapping. I was like "okay csection let's do this" but I think I would have been like that without the hypnobirthing. I had three birth plans, A was home water birth, B was hospital water birth, C was appropriately for C section which I think made me feel like I had more control even though I didn't 🤣

FirstTimeBumps · 12/04/2020 07:58

@roarfeckingroar I've definitely got a bump now it's ridiculous. I look about 16 weeks. Wee decided were just not announcing it until this whole lockdown is over so going to appear like a semi detached house like suprise I'm due next week 😁
