@Natopp I didn't even know the midwife had weighed me at my booking appointment - it was only when she commented that my BMI was the same as my last pregnancy that I realised she had! She never mentioned the figure. They do need to know for your BMI, as BMI over 30 can require additional care/monitoring, but if you're obviously not overweight then I can't imagine it would be a problem not to take it Flowers

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/04/2020 20:16

@FireflyGirl that all sounds fine with me! It’s at least getting a midwife’s name and face. If the appointment isn’t face to face by that start of May I think I’ll get bloods at my scan anyway.

EBM20 · 06/04/2020 20:45

When do you get the call for a booking appointment? I've not heard anything from a midwife and I'm 8 weeks tomorow! I've had an early scan a week ago due to bleeding which measured 5 days behind of what I thought I was, the scan was arranged with A&E not my GP so not sure if the midwifes will be aware of it?

EBM20 · 06/04/2020 20:47

Adding to my message above^ I saw the GP on the 17th March and they said they would refer me to a midwife who will be in contact soon

calimommy · 06/04/2020 21:01

@BuffaloCauliflower I've had one before, I went in expecting to be 9 weeks and it was measuring 6. I knew my dates were accurate and two days later the mc started spontaneously. I'm still happier I knew it was coming than to just start bleeding but I still don't want it to fucking happen this time haha 💀

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/04/2020 21:06

Sorry to hear that @calimommy. Hopefully one is enough for life and you won’t have to experience that again

Newmumtobe worried...
HELP: Whippscross or Queens Hospital

Hi Fellow Mums,

I am waiting to book my 1st appointment with Whippscross hospital via Barts Newham in the coming weeks and I am very confused as to the decision of where to give birth as I should ideally be having my appointments with that hospital too. This is going to be my first baby am worried and I have no previous experience. I have read a few horror reviews on Queens but whipps cross had a bit more negative ones. so am not sure which hospital to choose for my first appointment. (Both are the nearest ones from where Iive)

Any one has had any good experiences with either of them in the recent times (2019- 2020) please.

mamayoucefka · 06/04/2020 23:11

@Natmeme45 Queens is my local hospital too but there is no way I am going to give birth there. I would avoid it at all costs. Only heard negative opinions about them.
I self referred myself to the royal london as two of my friends had fantastic experience there- sadly it is a bit of a drive though.. I am still waiting for them to get back to me, I hope they won't reject my referral... 🤞

Hi everyone, has anyone got any experience with the following and any advice:

  • I'm sick about 4-5 times a day, mostly in the morning. The last 3 days I've been sick 3 times before 9am and before eating anything
  • I'm eating only couple hundred calories per day as that's all I can manage
  • I feel sick all day
  • I sometimes also have indegestion particularly in the evenings
  • I have been trying to keep drinking water
  • My sense of smell is ridiculous I can smell everything and everything apart from fresh air, makes me feel ill
anon5555 · 07/04/2020 06:37

Sorry I should add

  • first pregnancy
  • nearly 8 weeks
  • I can't do anything all day apart from sleep and lie down
  • I've had to call in sick to work because I can't concentrate and don't feel well enough.

Help would be much appreciated :)

burntpinky · 07/04/2020 06:44

@anon5555 try see your GP. They can give you medication. Probs won’t stop the feeling sick all day but might stop you actually being sick and mean you can eat a bit more. Have you tried ice lollies? Good way to get liquid down you plus calories from the sugar. Or sucking an ice cube?

Maggi85 · 07/04/2020 06:51

Hi all just checking in - not sure if it will be a late November or early December one - if all goes well x already have a DS who will be 2 on 23rd December 2020. Just feeling tired so far - hope everyone else is doing well x

WildflowerPetals · 07/04/2020 07:30

Why does the wait till the 12 week scan seem so long?! 2 weeks and 1 day to go! X

wannabebump · 07/04/2020 07:44

@WildflowerPetals 2 weeks and 1 day until first scan here too - it sure drags in doesn't it!

WildflowerPetals · 07/04/2020 08:13

@wannabebump It really does! I just want to know baby’s okay. When’s your due date? X

wannabebump · 07/04/2020 08:14

@WildflowerPetals same here! Just desperate to know everything is fine. Going by LMP, it would be the 7th November - what about you? X

SqidgeBum · 07/04/2020 08:16

I am 9+3 and I dont know when my scan is yet Confused I am hoping mine will tell me soon. I feel pretty calm and I try to keep my worrying to a minimum, but it would be good to know it's ok.

WildflowerPetals · 07/04/2020 08:22

@wannabebump I took an ovulation test so going by when I ovulated I’ll be due 1st November - So we’re quite close together 😊 x

@sqidgebum Have you had your booking appt yet? I had mine on the Friday and got my letter for my scan on the following Wednesday I think x

SqidgeBum · 07/04/2020 08:35

@WildflowerPetals yes I had an over the phone booking appointment about 2 weeks ago, and i am having bloods taken today. Maybe once the bloods go in it will trigger something. I think if I havent heard by this time next week I will ask my midwife.

bluebell94 · 07/04/2020 08:36

My NHS scan is 2 weeks today, counting down the days! I will only be 9+4 but going off LMP which my midwife is, she says I will be 12+3 (but I know I'm not due to long irregular cycles and my own private scan to confirm that). So already had my booking appt 2 weeks ago as they are treating me almost 3 weeks ahead of what I am. Just want this scan done so they can change my EDD and put my appointments to the right time!

canueve · 07/04/2020 08:50

@EBM20 We are in the exact stage, 8 weeks today and I also thought I was further along, but on my scan found out I was earlier.

I think each place is different, I called my GP and they booked me straight away with a midwife. I'd call them and say no one called you back and ask for an appt.

WildflowerPetals · 07/04/2020 08:54

@SqidgeBum I’d definitely get in touch with them if you don’t get your scan appointment soon. My bloods are being done at my scan so it might be different for you x

SqidgeBum · 07/04/2020 09:12

I think I am getting bloods done today and more bloods done at the scan. Today's bloods are for strep b and all that, and then I think I will have another batch done at 12 weeks for downs, pataus etc. I think that's the way it was on my last pregnancy exactly 2 years ago, and I think that's what my midwife said. I need to start paying more attention or writing things down.

excitednerves · 07/04/2020 09:19

Anyone having a second (or more) baby close to their first? My baby is now 8 months old and will be 16 months when I’m due with DC2. I wanted them close together but didn’t expect it to happen quite so quickly! Mostly I’m excited and know they’ll be best buds as they grow up, but after a sleepless night with DS1 teething last night, I do wonder how I’m going to cope through the newborn stage again.

Anyone in the same boat?

EBM20 · 07/04/2020 09:28

@canueve the number I've been given is constantly 'line busy' it's so frustrating!
