@Luckyhuman2020 I hope you get seen today and get some answers. Fingers crossed it’s nothing.

canueve · 20/03/2020 08:03

@daffodilrosedaisy I am having something similar, very on and off, it's not a pain, more like an ache that comes and goes with no pattern, but yes, I keep thinking it might be ectopic.

I have an early scan in 10 days time and hopefully by then these cramps are long gone.

daffodilrosedaisy · 20/03/2020 08:18

@canueve I hope it clears up soon, at least you’ll get some clarity at the early scan. It probably is just stretching I’m just a bit of a worrier!

MysteriousSheep · 20/03/2020 08:32

Can I join? Am 4+5 (I think!) with what will hopefully be my second child. It’s my fourth pregnancy, I already have a 12year old and have been trying for a second for years! Got pregnant on my 5th clomid cycle and so hoping this one sticks.
I work in frontline NHS and also have an underlying health condition that puts me in ‘vulnerable’ group so I am going to have to tell my manager about this pregnancy a lot earlier than I would've if we weren’t in the midst of a ‘pandemic’! Feeling quite anxious about all that stuff.
Symptoms-wise I have slight breast tenderness and occasional waves of nausea, but generally feel fine. Didn’t really have much symptoms as far as I can remember when I had my son either.

Have a scan arranged via fertility clinic in a couple of weeks, I think to check for multiple pregnancy due to clomid.
Looking forward to sharing experiences and support with you all over the next months.
So sorry for those having miscarriages or uncertain times- I know from experience how difficult it is.

Is it normal that the doctors will not give me booking appointment/midwife appointment and to call back after im 8 weeks?

i will be 6 weeks tomorrow

Thanks :)

Whatatimetoseealine · 20/03/2020 08:52

With my first pregnancy I called at 6 weeks @Sacho and was given an appointment for 8.

My worry about waiting until 8 to get the appointment is then would the midwife be able to book dating scan in time? It's really important for us to check for abnormalities as we are at higher risk due to DD's condition

I tried to book a private scan as a precaution but the clinic won't book that far ahead for when I'm (hopefully) 11-12 weeks

Bumble88 · 20/03/2020 08:58

I’ve got an NHS scan this morning, I’m 6+3 and so nervous. It’s due to a previous ectopic, although I’ve already had one to confirm it’s in the right place. This was meant to be my reassurance scan at 7 weeks but they calculated my dates wrong as I have a 31 ish day cycle. So nervous this isn’t going to show us anything 😕 Partly because I just don’t “feel” very pregnant, I just don’t believe there’s anything going on in there! Secondly, I just don’t feel lucky enough for this to all go to plan. Trying to stay positive, but so nervous x

ParisInTheSpringtime · 20/03/2020 08:59

Thanks for all the responses. I swing between wanting to tell my mum so I can talk to someone about it, and not wanting to worry her. Maybe I’ll leave it another few weeks.

Welcome all newcomers to the thread!

Sacho · 20/03/2020 09:04

@Whatatimetoseealine - i will try calling the doctors again today and see what they say :)

i do have private early scan booked for two weeks time, if that still goes ahead etc.

SqidgeBum · 20/03/2020 09:28

Anyone a little concerned that due to the CV we may have issues with midwife appointments and scans? I put in my form to the GP 2 weeks ago and have heard nothing back. I am 7 weeks tomorrow. I dont expect they will want us to go into the GP either, and I know they are seeing less people for scans every day because they are cleaning thoroughly between each patient. I know we will all have to be accepting of changes but I hope we get at least the 12 week scan on time.

holypoop · 20/03/2020 09:35

Morning all,

I sent my self referral email to see a midwife yesterday, does anyone know how long in general it takes to get back to you?
I'm not 100% on how many week I am but I'm looking at around 5wks 6days or another app says 5wks 4 days? 🤷🏼‍♀️
First day of last period 14th February, I only have 24/25 day cycles.

ACatCalledLola · 20/03/2020 09:39

@SqidgeBum and @holypoop my gp put in the form but also advised me to refer myself online as it would probably be quicker. I did it online and got dates for the booking appointment and my 12 week scan emailed to me the same day.

HarrietM87 · 20/03/2020 09:42

My hospital does self referrals by online form, which I only did on Wednesday as I wanted to see how my early scan went first. They usually send out an appointment date in the post within a few days but not sure if will be delayed now 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think I’ll be 12 weeks just after my son’s second birthday.

Wise0wl · 20/03/2020 09:51

I'm a little bit worried about what maternity services will look like @SquidgeBum - I've had some spotting, my GP said the antenatal centre won't scan me! Not unless I'm having significant bleeding or pain, and I'd have to go and wait in A&E.

She was really apologetic, but recommended a private scan so I'm going to book one for next week. I'm 6 weeks exactly tomorrow, does anyone have any recommendations about when I should book it for? Is it better to wait til I'm nearer 7 weeks?

And @holypoop mine took a week to come through after I send off my self referral. Good luck!

HarrietM87 · 20/03/2020 09:53

@Wise0wl I saw the heartbeat at 6 weeks exactly on Wednesday, but I was certain of my dates. A day or 2 makes a huge difference at this early stage so it’s better to wait until 7 weeks if you can so that you can get a conclusive result.

Suki2020 · 20/03/2020 09:59

Hi, I have irregular periods since stopping the contraceptive pill 2yrs ago. I had my first period in oct 2019 since stopping the pill back end of 2017 and I had another one in feb this year. We have been trying for a baby since Nov 2019 and no success. It’s really hard to track when I ovulate due to my irregular periods. I take my body temperature every morning first thing and it suggests that I ovulate as my temperature dips and rises. Has anyone had anything similar?

FilthyforFirth · 20/03/2020 10:20

Hello, can I join?! Literally found out this morning, period was due yesterday. Elated as we have been trying for a while. This is my 2nd.

I suffered with bad HG in the first one and have already been retching for the past week or so. Due date 27th November Smile

holypoop · 20/03/2020 10:31

Thank everyone that replied, just another question.... how do you get an early scan? Once I get a midwife appt can I arrange one then? Sorry first pregnancy. X

PatchworkPals · 20/03/2020 10:50

The sickness is truly kicking in this morning and to make matters worse our water has gone off. No idea why. Can’t even rinse my mouth out Envy

HarrietM87 · 20/03/2020 10:57

@holypoop you will be scanned at 12 weeks through your hospital. If you want an earlier one you’ll have to arrange it privately unless you have a medical reason (like pain or bleeding or precious losses).

HarrietM87 · 20/03/2020 10:59

*previous not precious!

ParisInTheSpringtime · 20/03/2020 11:02

@Wise0wl I saw the heartbeat at 6w2d which was a few days behind where I thought I was

ParisInTheSpringtime · 20/03/2020 11:03

@holypoop I booked a private scan which was £70 in central London

uisage · 20/03/2020 11:50

@WiseOwl The places that I asked wouldn't do it till 8 weeks, there's a better chance of seeing a heartbeat then. I know it's worrying, but spotting is quite a normal pregnancy symptom. My private scan is £45 and I think it's worth it - I didn't have one last time, and worried all the way up to 12 weeks.

@Suki2020 This is a pregnancy thread, you might get better answers in the conception board. I'm guessing you're not pregnant - apologies if I've misunderstood you.

@FilthyforFirth Congratulations!

@PatchworkPals Hopefully your water comes back soon. Do you have anything you can have to take the taste away. Some crackers perhaps?

carrot88 · 20/03/2020 12:05

Just to let you know in my area they are doing the booking in appointments by phone currently - my midwife just called and said mine next Friday (8+5) is now a phone appointment and that then they'll make me an appointment at a clinic the following week to just pop in for bloods, urine and height & weight checks. Trying to limit the amount of time you need to be in a medical practice for to reduce exposure. It makes sense to me but is a shame I don't get to go in person.
