@professorastrocat - I said I'd set up a graduates group I'm tentatively on here though coz if the test at 11 is bad news I'll be back on a bus! Everything so far seems ok as the test this morning says 3 + weeks got the midwife appt tomorrow xx

@Needallthesleep so with you on not having another after this!!

I'll be taking as much as I can mat leave and going back as part time as I can! I found going back to work so stressful with my first in the end went back 4 days but really was full time crammed into 4 days, and nursery settling was hard for my boy. It's hard as it always comes at a point when they are going through a rough patch in sleep and separation anxiety! So the plan is either leave as long as I can or start the settling sessions a bit earlier before I go back say 9 months.

professorastrocat · 30/04/2020 10:02

Thanks for doing the summary if you can @Needallthesleep aswell that's a great idea. My dd is 23 Oct xx

Talcott2007 · 30/04/2020 10:07

Glad its not just me that's been more 'worried' about things this time around - I've been trying to process my feelings/thoughts around it all and if you'll all indulge my rambling - I think it boils down to the fact that when I was pregnant with DD it was very much a 'pregnancy' not a 'baby' because as much as I'd have been devastated if things went wrong having an actual baby was still an abstract concept. This time I have the expectation that there will be a baby at the end of this - I know what is it to be a DM to DD and I understand more fully what a new DC will add to my family and by virtue of that, the hole that the absence of that potential existence will also leave if things are not meant to be.

In terms of Mat Leave - I took 11months with DD. I will definetly be off for min 6mths as I plan to ebf again. This time around we have mused about the idea of doing shared parental leave. Maybe me going back at 8/9months and DH having a couple of months with them. DH's company has a very generous paternity package for shared care so financially it would be crazy not to use it, plus as I now only work pt based in an office 10mins walk away from home I'd be close if there was a problem

professorastrocat · 30/04/2020 10:22

Yes! @Talcott2007 that's exactly it you've hit the nail on the head 💕

Wise0wl · 30/04/2020 10:49

I feel v worried about how much time to take off as no other women have gone on mat leave before from my office. I was thinking 9 months with a phased return... but I have no idea!

Anon87 · 30/04/2020 11:24

Before getting my 2 lines I had it in my head that I'll do 6 month and DP can take the rest. I earn more so it made sense but I think I maybe a bit more attached now lol

I don't even know how maternity works in a sense. I understand you get the sum for the set number of weeks. That's fine. Is there a tax credit or something as a "top up" whilst on leave? I wasn't working with DD1 and can't remember the last time I was entitled to any benefit.

BooMamaBear · 30/04/2020 13:05

I'd not lost any DC before DD so I didn't worry as much but having lost 2 DS through TFMRs I am more anxious.
My EDD is 11 October 2020 I'm now 16w + 4d xx

@Anon87 I also don’t really understand it. I wish I could do SPL with DH but he’s recently started a new job so hasn’t been there long enough! Which is a real shame.

Needallthesleep · 30/04/2020 15:37

@Talcott2007 such an eloquent way of saying how I’m feeling about no. 2 and the worries I have. Also, so jealous of your commute! I live in SW London and my office is in Camden so a delightful 1 hour on the tube every day. I’m debating finding another job after.

Interesting those thinking of SPL. We hadn’t even considered it but I think my DH would love it. Definitely something to think about.

Hatepickinganame · 30/04/2020 16:25

@needallthesleep im seriously hoping it will go away in the 2nd trimester! Not even toothpaste takes it away. The only thing that works for a little while it salt and vinegar crisps!!

On mat leave, im taking 9 months. Then ill still have 5 weeks annual leave to take in 3 months of the year so hoping they will let me use that to phase myself back in 3 days a week or something.

Oh has had his blood test today, we should get the results in 3-5 days, so probably middle of next week. Fingers crossed please 🤞🤞🤞

professorastrocat · 30/04/2020 21:15

@Hatepickinganame 🤞🤞🤞

Hi ladies, sorry I dipped out of MN. I had an 8 week scan on the 20th which showed a good sized baby but lacking a heart beat. I waited a bit but I'm still so sick and sore (if I hadn't had the scan I would never have known things were going to end badly). I'm scheduled for a D&C tomorrow morning. Just picked up all the meds I need to take. Ugh. Pretty allergic to it all tbh. I had said before this that if I lost this pregnancy that I wouldn't try again but the urge is so strong. I'll see how I feel over the next while. All the best to everyone else. X

professorastrocat · 01/05/2020 07:51

So so sorry to hear this @calimommy, I had wondered how things were with you. Will be thinking of you today.

Lola871 · 01/05/2020 07:57

I'm still here, 11+3 now, got my scan at 13 weeks. Generally busy with work so haven't been posting but have been reading!
Sorry to hear your news @calimommy

Hatepickinganame · 01/05/2020 08:50

@calimommy so sorry to hear this, i hope you're as ok as you can be. Will be thinking of you.

Piglet11 · 01/05/2020 08:55

Aww @calimommy I’m so sorry to hear that.

Piglet11 · 01/05/2020 09:02

Sorry guys need to go back and read messages. I’m doing ok at the moment I think. I had some pains and phoned the midwifes and they think it could just be stretching so 🤞. I’m just a bit of a worrier and I’ve had a bit of a long crazy road to get here. My latest concern is that I’m meant to stop taking the hormone medication I’m on (I had a frozen embryo transfer and you are told to stop taking them at 12 weeks which I think is just generic) I’m quite slim and my natural hormone levels were quite low before I Started treatment so I’m worried if I just stop taking them I might miscarry.

Hope everyone else is getting ok.

sparkler07 · 01/05/2020 10:29

@BooMamaBear. Hi sorry not been on . Been trying to homeschool 3 kids which is fun lol.
I'm good suffered badly with nausea and lack of appetite and went of most food. Nausea has just about vanished but still lacking appetite.
Had my scan all is good although was a wriggler so struggled with measurements but managed to get them. I'm due 1st November which is spot on, I'm 14 weeks this Sunday. We still havent told anyone due. Hope everyone is well. Xxx

Talcott2007 · 01/05/2020 10:31

professorastrocat · 01/05/2020 12:34

Sounds understandably worrying @Piglet11

@Anon87 hope scan ok today, enjoy seeing bubs!

Anon87 · 01/05/2020 13:40

Scan done. Bloods took. Midwife seen. One healthy wriggly baby that likes to flash it's bum a lot with a new EDD of bommy night!
