@professorastrocat - I said I'd set up a graduates group I'm tentatively on here though coz if the test at 11 is bad news I'll be back on a bus! Everything so far seems ok as the test this morning says 3 + weeks got the midwife appt tomorrow xx

@professorastrocat I'm glad your spotting has stopped. I also have insomnia and I've never had it before. I wake up and my mind is just racing? What's it like your you?

@BooMamaBear wow 15 weeks! Congratulations! That's so exciting.

Is there anyone having a surprise? I think I want a surprise.

My husband is already looking at cots etc... Is anyone else doing this or are they waiting until they're 20 weeks?

Sending all my love to everyone xx

professorastrocat · 19/04/2020 09:47

Thanks @Hatepickinganame and @Hhdxx it's stopped now. With the sleep I tend to wake in the night by the smallest thing then my mind just doesn't relax again, and I can't get comfy etc and takes hours to go back to sleep, then my little boy gets up and makes a noise....
The comfy aspect is just gonna get worse! Sorry you're struggling with it too.

We're not having a surprise - my oh says he wants to know and my little boy will probably aswell once we tell him 😊

@Hatepickinganame I feel for you with the nausea, when it's constant it's just awful isn't it. 🤢

Hhdxx · 19/04/2020 11:45

@professorastrocat that's exactly like me!

I still randomly get ewcm some days?!?! I did have sex two days ago, so might be that? So wierd x

Wise0wl · 19/04/2020 11:57

Thanks @professorastrocat - that’s reassuring 😊

calimommy · 19/04/2020 15:56

@Hhdxx cervical mucus during pregnancy varies from white to green tbh. It's related to the mucus plug in the cervix. The plug is constantly being 'maintained' by the vagina. The other purpose of mucus is to trap and germs etc to prevent infection. It's gross but normal and lasts the whole pregnancy 👍

My DH wants to tell our family and friends face to face, but if the lockdown carries on, he wants to do it by showing them a freshly painted nursery with a cot in it. I've told him that we aren't buying anything until after the scan (currently 9 weeks 4 days!!) but even then I almost feel a little uneasy about getting one so soon. He's really excited about doing it all this way and with him not being able to go to any scans or anything I'm just pleased he's excited and happy to go along with it. The only practical issue is that the room in question is in a proper state with holes in the plaster and ceiling, so it may come to nothing after all!

I love my bands @Hatepickinganame. I hope they work well for you too.

Anyone else finding that toast and crisps are LIFE??

Anon87 · 19/04/2020 18:59

@Lola871 I got a text about an hour after my booking in appt (done over phone) for scan booked in for 1st May. I'll be 12+4 by then. The lady did say she would ring back to let me know but it's all the same, as long as I know

Anon87 · 19/04/2020 19:15

Oh and can anyone tell me the actual difference between midwife led and consultant led. I understand the why but what is, if anything, done differently in the run up to finish line?

Wise0wl · 19/04/2020 19:43

@Bumblebee413 toasts and crisps ARE life. And today sausage rolls (can’t stand any other meat)!

I’m really hoping not to tell anyone until lockdown is over. Keep trying to picture it and can’t imagine not giving people a hug. So we’re going to try and hang on in there until we find out what’s happening next after this next lot of three weeks! The nursery idea is lovely though!

professorastrocat · 19/04/2020 19:56

@Bumblebee413 you may be glad it's done in the end! My partner was still putting wardrobes together in our room when I went into hospital to have our boy, and in between visits! 😬😬

@Anon87 I'm not 100% sure but will find out as I'm consultant led this time. I have my first app tomorrow by phone, my understanding so far is that we will discuss birth options and I will have two more scans than normal towards the end. I guess it's all down to individual circumstances and why you need it in the first place. Still 'seeing' midwife too though.

Anon87 · 19/04/2020 20:13

@professorastrocat The booking in call, after explaining DD emergency section, she very nicely put to me that I'm shit at giving birth as the progression was terrible in all that time 😂 She threw out the idea of if I want natural that's fine but I could also have a back up planned section date if nothing kicked off on its own by whenever which I really like the sound of. A plan for a plan!

So if we still see midwives for the pregnancy are the consultants just more for the big finale? 🤔

Needallthesleep · 19/04/2020 21:52

Ahhh @Bumblebee413 crisp sandwiches. All day every day. I’m going to be enormous after this pregnancy!

For those on number two...what are you planning on doing differently this time?

And I can’t remember who asked above what we were looking to buy now that scans have happened. I’ve started gently looking (I sold a load of stuff last time stupidly), and if I see a decent deal I’ll buy something now. If not I’ll wait.

Anon87 · 19/04/2020 22:47

@Needallthesleep I'm going to use people!! That sounds awful but 13 years ago at 18 I felt like I needed to tackle everything myself to prove my worth. This time round if people offer they better be ready to bring the goods 😆 This can include 10 mins freedom for a shower, off for a stroll so I can nap or making me lots of meals to freeze. Whole different ball game with support 🙌🏼

I'm 100% going to be better and stricter with routine though.

Bumblebee413 · 19/04/2020 23:22

If there are no health complications for Mum or baby throughout pregnancy, then technically you never need to see a doctor at any point (birth included). Midwives are experts in 'normal'. If there's ever a concern about the health of mum or baby, then you get referred for 'Consultant lead care', which basically means that doctors evaluate your care and may make some form of plan- for extra scans or blood tests etc. They may actually say that nothing special needs doing and you don't need to see them any more.

It may be that later down the line they recommend a type of place of birth, but ultimately nobody makes that call but you. Your body, your baby, your choice. And the role of your midwife is to support you in your decision, whatever it is. Hope that helps! X

Bumblebee413 · 19/04/2020 23:24

@Anon87 I love that. Accepting help is a wonderful plan!

@Wise0wl oooh. Sausage rolls. Now that's a plan...

BooMamaBear · 20/04/2020 00:19

@Anon87 -I'm always consultant led -a midwife will still deliver your baby if a surgeon doesn't! You still see the midwife but also see consultants with my first I saw them every 4 weeks and they did all my scans I didn't see them on the day I went into labour or gave birth you just talk through your birth plan with them- like they advised me to get an early epidural in case my muscles didn't work properly ( I have a type of muscular dystrophy) as I'd need a C-section if they didn't work and as I can't have general anaesthetic if they gave me an early epidural thru could just increase the dose and take me to surgery if needed as otherwise an epidural or spinal take 20 mins to take effect and they don't always have 20 mins! That was my backup but in the end I was able to give birth naturally without a c-section!!

@professorastrocat -my date got changed at my 12w scan I thought I was 11+5 but they said I was 12 +2 which makes my change over date a Sunday! Xx

This before you want to get up wee is literally pissing me off now.
In these furlough days i'm a 7.30am-er and a 6.30am wee and no settle afterwards is just not cutting it for me. How do I request a full kip? Is there a manager I speak to? 🥱🥱😑

Hatepickinganame · 20/04/2020 10:12

@Anon87 if you figure it out let me know, i drink soooo much water to try and combat the nausea that i get up at least 3 times in the night to pee. So frustrating cause apparently being overly tired can make nausea worse and im stuck in an endless cycle 😂😵

@Bumblebee413 i think the bands help, i aways wonder if im wearing them right though 😂😂😂

Bumblebee413 · 20/04/2020 10:38

I definitely bought the adult version but mine appear to be made for children and I have pathetic small wrists. Unless I am objecting to the manner in which they actually work, which is possible...

professorastrocat · 20/04/2020 15:52

Hope everyone enjoying the sun today!

@Anon87 the weeing is a total pain in the bum, if I manage to get back to sleep during the night I just wake up early needing a wee anyway!

Spoke to consultant today, I need to start taking aspirin everyday. Also threw a load of stats at me re why it's still better for me to have a vaginal birth this time....

BooMamaBear · 20/04/2020 17:05

I'm up about 3 times a night to wee between 12am-5am! I don't seem too bad in the day but I go before I go to bed then when I get up but if I don't drink before I go to bed I wake up with a dry mouth in the middle of the night and if I drink I need to wee loads!!

Does anyone have a pregnancy app that they would recommend? I've got baby buddy and what to expect. I don't quite know exactly what I'm looking for, but wondered if anyone had one they really liked?

Anon87 · 21/04/2020 11:14

@Bumblebee413 I've still got FEM app, I used it to get here, so going along with their updates too. Also got Baby centre and Emma's diary on my phone.

On my iPad I got pregnancy+ and Bounty.

I like the day to day info from FEM and Pregnancy+ but they don't really match up. Pregnancy+ has great imagery and timelines though.

professorastrocat · 21/04/2020 11:14

I think I used baby centre with my first, liked it from the perspective of info about baby growing etc. How do you find babybuddy? I'm not using any but if did use one would be babybuddy, mostly as it would be good to see first hand what we recommend using at the baby groups I help at!

I think there's lots more recent apps appeared in the last 5 years I don't know about!

Talcott2007 · 21/04/2020 14:49

Has anyone come across a pregnancy app where you can amend the EDD? They all seem to just use LMP but I've come up smaller in my early scan (which may change again after my 12w scan next week anyway)
