Thinking of you @professorastrocat! Yay for the wait being over! So sorry to hear you've been feeling so unwell @Wise0wl. Hopefully things will start to pick up a little nowx
I'm a key worker and work put me up in a hotel for a few nights over Easter because I live quite far away and was worried about transport. It's an extremely posh hotel and they've been putting on a basic buffet dinner and breakfast for us every day, which is very kind.
I was about to start my final nightshift, so went down for dinner feeling really quite peaky. I've been managing the nausea by pretty much eating constantly- I'm going to be the size of a house. The smell of the food turned my stomach a little but I still queued up because I needed to eat and I had a shift ahead. The choices were sweet and sour chicken, which I don't really love at the best of times and quite a strong thai fish cake vegetable stir fry. I didn't want either, but figured at least the stir fry would be healthy. Got a really good seat by the window and sat there trying to avoid the smell of my dinner.
Had some bread roll, all good. Decided to man up and took a bite. Only problem was that it was now in my mouth. Managed to swallow a third, then did possibly the longest retch of my life. In the restaurant.
I hadn't been sick at all up to this point so was trying to work out if I should tough it out, then realised that I had nothing to vomit into, I had no idea where the nearest toilets were and that my room was on the 13th floor. Stuffed my trusty bread roll in my bag, speed walked put of the restaurant with tears streaming down my face and somehow, somehow made it back to my room in time, running and retching all the way.
Not quite the fancy dinner I had imagined. I wound up eating chicken pie and fanta outside the hospital before work, because, as a northerner, pie was what my stomach really wanted apparently.
