@professorastrocat - I said I'd set up a graduates group I'm tentatively on here though coz if the test at 11 is bad news I'll be back on a bus! Everything so far seems ok as the test this morning says 3 + weeks got the midwife appt tomorrow xx

@BooMamaBear I would never ask a woman if they were pregnant unless they were beach ball sized. Or in labour. It's so rude. Also most of pregnancy isn't terribly obvious despite how we feel. I have IBS and suffer badly from bloating, if someone were to ask me if I was pregnant at those times I might break their nose. And the flip of that is even when we are 20 +weeks lots of women still don't 'look pregnant'. Body shapes are all different. My father is a neonatologist and twice he has fucked up 🙈😂, the first time he mentioned to a junior colleague that it was wonderful they were expecting -they were not. Another time he met a patient and their mother in a supermarket and said "ah your expecting again, I hope I don't see you this time!" -she was not. He has learned at this point to shut his bloody mouth however well intentioned hahaha

calimommy · 13/04/2020 16:15

@professorastrocat my husband is the worst, he keeps almost letting it slip to the boys! I'm not against them knowing but let's wait until the first scan and negative bloods, eh?! 🙄

BooMamaBear · 13/04/2020 17:29

I know -we didn't tell our DD til after the 12 week scan she's just asked to listen to the baby again today so we heard the heartbeat again -obvs we'd never just rely on a Doppler but my GP dad did show my husband how to use it properly and not just pick up my heartbeat or that of the placenta-he also listened for my heartbeat first so we can distinguish it! I hate this stage where your symptoms have subsided but you can't properly feel the baby move tho i do very occasionally feel flutters but only maybe twice a day if that I not even sure if it's the baby coz I can't remember from when I had my DD Xxx

Had a call this morning to tell me my booking appointment will be in 4 weeks time and will just be over the phone anyway. I'll be exactly 10 weeks, hopefully they will have enough time after that to request the 12 week scan appointment at the hospital which I think will be combined with bloods and urine test.

professorastrocat · 14/04/2020 12:47

I'm sure it will be fine over the phone @littletandme , in fact possibly better than my experience where the midwife answered her mobile every 5 minutes!

I had mine at 9+6 then they do get straight on it with the scan app, even so mine is at 13+2 so later than some but still within the window it needs to be. I remember it being the same last time but then they moved me to over 14 weeks at the scan with my first.

Anon87 · 14/04/2020 12:50

@littletandme I'll be 10+5 for my booking in appt (this Friday) so far it's still at the hospital. Glad DP doesn't have to go to that one really. My health history, my business 😆

littletandme · 14/04/2020 12:52

@professorastrocat yes I had a late scan with DD as I stupidly hadn't switched doctors when we moved to a new town so soon realised I had to register with the local doctors to be able to get midwife care, so I think my booking was done between 10-11 weeks last time. I should have been 13+4 by ovulation but they measured me at 14+3 and then I had to go back for a quad blood test instead of having the NT measurement done. Hoping it'll at least be earlier than 14 weeks this time!

Talcott2007 · 14/04/2020 13:46

Had my booking in appointment this morning face to face with the Community Midwife (Well sort of I could barely see her face under all her PPE!) Which is a good thing really - I'm glad they have the appropriate kit to reduce their risk. It was same midwife who I spoke to on the phone originally about the need to get my prescription sorted ASAP - she remembered about my condition and had obviously read my notes so asked really relevant questions the traumatic induction i had with DD which was reassuring and frankly bodes well for things going better this time. I really liked her to be honest and she has already booked me in for additional appointments with her at 22w and 28w and I should get a phone call this week to confirm an appointment with the consultant haematologist but I wont be able to really relax until I've had that and got my meds!

Is anyone waiting to hear about primary school allocation for Sept 2020 for older siblings on Thursday??

professorastrocat · 14/04/2020 14:51

That sounds very positive @Talcott2007 especially seeing you for more appointments. Feel like I probably need some support like that after my first birth but I can't see it happening in the NHS here - will probably look around for private support.

@Anon87 that's true but I'd forgotten just how many questions are also about your partners family's health history!

I've just heard from hospital to remind me I have to come on my own and I no longer will be having my consultant appointment after the scan, that's going to be on the phone at some point.

BooMamaBear · 14/04/2020 17:07

Yeah my DD starts school in September so we're waiting for school places we have one school that is an 8 min walk away that I really want her to go to so fingers crossed!! Xxx

Oh good luck to those waiting for school places, I imagine it’s stressful. I’m in Kingston and it’s so competitive here.

@Talcott2007 your midwife sounds great. It makes such a difference doesn’t it?

I’ve got the same midwife as I had for my first, which I’m really happy about. She supported my maternal request c section the first time round and has been very supportive of the same this time.

BooMamaBear · 14/04/2020 18:33

It's really competitive here too -it's a bit annoying coz people rent in the area to get their kids into the schools then buy somewhere further out where it's cheaper coz this place is expensive mainly coz of the schools - they're all over subscribed so I had to apply to 5! Xx

@professorastrocat I've made little notes of the usual like anything that runs through the family etc but it's a good shout actually.

Can anyone give me a run down on general questions they ask about partners/husband's on booking in appt?

Hatepickinganame · 14/04/2020 21:41

I cant remember what they ask 😂 i have mine on the 30th at my gp surgery, ill be around 8 weeks. Theyve said my oh cam attend as long as he has no symptoms. I carry a blood disorder so they need to do a blood test on him as well, so he needs to be there really!

Good luck with school places for everyone thats waiting

BooMamaBear · 14/04/2020 22:14

I think they ask about any history of heart problems, diabetes, mental illness -can't remember all of it it's similar to what they ask about your family!
I forgot how graphic One born every minute is! A few of the series were filmed at my hospital!! I really shouldn't have watched I know I've been through it before but now I'm freaked out!! X

Talcott2007 · 15/04/2020 13:41

I'll try and rememeber what medical q's the midwife asked me yesterday - they are the same for your family and your DP and their family (I've slept since then so it might not be comprehensive!)

Any known hereditary condidtions
heart or blood conditions eg. High blood pressure
Liver and pancreas conditions - eg. Diabites
Kidney problems
Issues with bones or spine - spina bifida
Lung problems such as asthma
Any cancer diagnoses
Mental health issues
Prior family involvement with SS
Genetic issues - eg. Close family member born with something like downs syndrome
Other birth defects - cleft lip/pallet

Anon87 · 15/04/2020 16:36

Got the call today that the booking in will be over the phone on Friday.
I've been leaving my phone upstairs or on silent and only checked voicemails today. One from midwife at hospital who wanted to do booking in yesterday and one from midwife at doctor's who's going to do it.

The doctors one rang back and went through it all and told me the hospital midwife was "in transit" with a note. I got the note and it says pretty much what the doctors midwife told me on the phone. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Needallthesleep · 15/04/2020 19:35

@Hhdxx how are you feeling today? Only a couple of days until your scan.

Anon87 · 15/04/2020 22:29

@Talcott2007 Oh just high blood pressure on his side and heart disease with my grand parents. Be reet 😳😆

Hhdxx · 15/04/2020 22:51

Sorry I've taken so long to reply everyone.

@Needallthesleep thanks chick. I've researched and I can have a scan at 16 weeks and my husband can go at the moment. It's a private one. Only one more full day to ensure before my scan... Phew

@professorastrocat I'm alright thanks you, just wishing it was Friday. How are you feeling about tomorrow? Xxx

@BooMamaBear thank you for your support xxx

Wise0wl · 15/04/2020 23:03

Hi all, I’ve been offline for a while as I’ve had really bad MS and struggling with lockdown. I’ve finally got my booking in appt next week (when I’ll be 10+4) but haven’t had confirmation of it in writing yet as they initially booked me into the wrong hospital. No idea when my scan will be either - all in all I don’t feel hugely positive about anything!

Just wanted to check in to say hi, and @hhdxx good luck!! 🤞

Hhdxx · 15/04/2020 23:07

@Wise0wl thank you. I'm sure it will be fine and I hope you have your scan soon x

professorastrocat · 16/04/2020 07:11

Scan day is finally here girls!! I'm excited and very scared and nervous!

calimommy · 16/04/2020 07:30

@professorastrocat 🙌🙌🙌

Needallthesleep · 16/04/2020 07:31

Ahh bring it on @professorastrocat!! Let us know how it goes
