@professorastrocat - I said I'd set up a graduates group I'm tentatively on here though coz if the test at 11 is bad news I'll be back on a bus! Everything so far seems ok as the test this morning says 3 + weeks got the midwife appt tomorrow xx

About to have my 12 week scan in 15 minutes and sat in the waiting room sobbing. I’m so terrified that something will be wrong. Think I have probably had my head a bit too stuck in my phone looking at awful stories on forums in the past couple of days.

My last pregnancy I sailed through without a care in the world. This one seems to be so much harder.

professorastrocat · 11/04/2020 14:18

Oh @Needallthesleep I hope everything is going well as I type this, sorry you've been feeling so worried.

We're waiting until end of next week to tell rest of family and friends after scan but otherwise my parents know and some close friends. Wasn't the nice Mother's Day announcement we had planned but my parents were still chuffed.

Needallthesleep · 11/04/2020 14:33

Thanks @professorastrocat. It was totally fine. I’m ridiculous. We have a very wiggly, very healthy baby. The midwife clearly thought I was insane, I cried my eyes out.

professorastrocat · 11/04/2020 15:15

Wiggly and healthy is great! I hope they were kind to you!

Anon87 · 11/04/2020 15:23

@Needallthesleep Lovely to hear x

Talcott2007 · 11/04/2020 18:43

Great news @Needallthesleep!

Hatepickinganame · 11/04/2020 19:03

@Needallthesleep thats awesome news, glad it all went ok 😊

Talcott2007 · 11/04/2020 19:14

Random question - is anyone else suddenly super clumsy? Honestly in the last couple of days I have tripped over and dropped things like 5 times a day!! I'm hardly the most graceful of individual at the best of times but it's getting rediculous!

Needallthesleep · 11/04/2020 19:27

Thanks guys Grin

Anon87 · 11/04/2020 21:16

@Talcott2007 🙋🏻‍♀️ He's completely give up with me. I was the tit that would drop a jar of pasta sauce in Aldi beforehand, today I knocked the lightshade off with the laundry basket. It's on the frikkin ceiling. It doesnt even make sense!
I knock everything out of the cupboard just getting one thing and I'll always spill my juice somehow. It's getting pathetic 😂

BooMamaBear · 11/04/2020 23:18

So glad everything is ok @Needallthesleep!
We told family fairly early as we found out before we'd even heard of the corona virus so we thought we'd need child care and support for the tests plus I always have a drink with Sunday lunch at my in laws they'd know straight away if I refused a drink! We've only just told our close friends as we have a group WhatsApp that we've been very inactive on so we started getting messages asking if everything was ok! We told my DD last week showed her the scan picture and let her listen to the heartbeat with the doppler!! We're not planning on announcing on social media until after the 20 week scan maybe around 24 weeks all being well! Xx

Haha @Talcott2007 and @Anon87 I'm pretty clumsy too! Everything gets bashed, getting stuff out the dishwasher is a game of what will survive and I've dropped the pepper out the cupboard everywhere too many times for a normal person! Apparently I'm clumsy anyway but I don't think I am! But I am now 😛

Talcott2007 · 12/04/2020 09:07

I'm glad it not just me then! Seriously yesterday evening I was making fajitas and I had the onions in the pan first to soften and the chicken had been marinating in another bowl. I pick up the bowl of chicken to tip it into the pan and just as I'm tipping in - holding it with both hands as well - I somehow just let go and sort of throw the actual bowl into the pan on top of everything! It's a bloody miracle nothing broke - just raw chicken and passata splattered around the kitchen like something out of the shining!

professorastrocat · 12/04/2020 14:00

Good reason to get out of making tea for a few days?? @Talcott2007

Talcott2007 · 12/04/2020 18:20

To be fair DH normally monoplises the kitchen - he is a fantastic cook and really enjoys it so I mostly let him get on with it. But fajitas are one of the things that has sort of become my specialities - I make a really good Lamb Tagine too!

Hhdxx · 12/04/2020 20:27

Guys, I'm really freaking out about my scan this Friday coming. I had one and the lady thought I was 7weeks+2 but I really thought I was 8 weeks.

I'm worried that I'll go to the scan and there won't be a heart beat or it won't have grown. I know I'm being silly but I'm so worried.

So that means I'll only be 11+1 for my scan. Does this matter?

Help and sorry! Such a stress head xxxx

BooMamaBear · 12/04/2020 21:38

Pretty glad we're in lockdown coz I saw my neighbour over the fence yesterday and she was like oh when are you due -when I told her October she was like but you look at least 5 months pregnant!! At least she didn't think I'd just put weight on!! Wouldn't really want other people guessing if we weren't on lockdown! Im literally in maternity leggings or shorts everyday!! Xx

BooMamaBear · 12/04/2020 21:42

@Hhdxx - I usually have a scan at 11 weeks due to the CVS just last twice it's turned out that the baby was measuring more but the first twice they were 11 weeks - there's not that much difference between 11-12 weeks the baby is just a bit bigger at 12 weeks!! Try not to worry!! Xx

professorastrocat · 13/04/2020 09:11

Hey @Hhdxx I don't really have any advice re the weeks thing but as @BooMamaBear says I'm sure it's fine, and they may even make adjustments again at this scan! I imagine the sonographer would have mentioned any concerns at the last scan? I know it's hard not to worry, I am too!

My scan is this Thursday and I've had no scan yet so we can hold each other's hands this week 😊

Needallthesleep · 13/04/2020 13:52

@Hhdxx I’ve just gone through the same panic, so totally understand the stress. This might be ridiculous (but I was getting to the stage where I would have done it) but can you book a private scan this week to ease your nerves?

For what it’s worth, if you saw a heartbeat on your early scan that’s a really really good sign. Missed miscarriages only happen in about 3% of pregnancies. If you are like me and scanning the boards here it will give you a misrepresentation about how common they are. Also, most of those MMC’s are from earlier than 7 weeks.

Will be thinking of you on Friday x

Needallthesleep · 13/04/2020 14:03

And so funny about your neighbour thinking you were 5 months @BooMamaBear!! People always love a bump comment don’t they!

professorastrocat · 13/04/2020 15:03

I think I'm half and half excited and worried. I've had two close friends who had mmc at their scans. I don't remember this entering my head at all with my first. Maybe the current situation raises overall anxiety levels.

I do agree with @Needallthesleep re the fact if you've already had a positive scan recently is a good thing. I'm just keeping everything crossed and not reading any forums about it!

calimommy · 13/04/2020 15:14

Oh yes girls, I'm a week out from my first scan at 8 weeks and feeling terribly nervous. If this goes well I will be happy and might even tell people tbh. In my experience, a good 8 week scan hasn't gone badly afterwards. If the scan goes well they will do my bloods then so I'll know by 9/10 weeks what baby is. My money is on boy. Haha my friend is determined that this will be a girl and I even did the Chinese gender prediction for her as she insisted (I think they are garbage) and that said boy too 😂 I'll have to get a female dog!

BooMamaBear · 13/04/2020 15:47

I don't mind bump comments when you're a bit further along and they know you're pregnant but like last time someone I barely knew said something about it in front of my DD who didn't and still doesn't know I was pregnant that time coz it ended badly -luckily this time my DD knew but I think it's a bit rude if they don't know you're pregnant I could have just put weight on!! xxx

OP posts:
professorastrocat · 13/04/2020 15:59

I agree @BooMamaBear it is thoughtless. I'm not sure how to ensure people don't mention it too much in front of my boy before we've told him but that depends how long we're stuck in the house for..so may not need to worry...
