@professorastrocat - I said I'd set up a graduates group I'm tentatively on here though coz if the test at 11 is bad news I'll be back on a bus! Everything so far seems ok as the test this morning says 3 + weeks got the midwife appt tomorrow xx

@hatepickinganame. I told my boss the day after BoJo's announcement which included pregnant women in the high risk group recommend to isolate for 12w. I was only 7w so it felt really early but I work for a large charity which amongst other thing includes gyms, catering, childcare and housing provison. So although im in a a 'back office' role the buildings get a lot of foot traffic from the public so it felt sensible to mention it. I was able to WFH for since but now I'm being furloughed anyway.

Hatepickinganame · 06/04/2020 11:38

Ive told my boss, shes now having to call our next boss up to see what we do now. Luckily my boss is also a pretty good friend so telling her didnt feel like too big of a deal. Feels scarily real now, never thought id be telling anyone at 4 weeks!

Hatepickinganame · 06/04/2020 11:39

@Talcott2007 sorry to hear your being furloughed, not even really sure what that means 🙄 but from what ive gathered its not good?

professorastrocat · 06/04/2020 11:48

Congratulations @notetaker lovely to see all these familiar names!

It is weird having to tell people earlier than you would have. I had to tell work straight after bojo's announcement so I could wfh straight away. I'm 12 weeks tomorrow....and I still have to wait over another week for my scan....

professorastrocat · 06/04/2020 11:49

Hope your appointment goes smoothly today @Lola871

Wise0wl · 06/04/2020 11:52

@notetaker December is already expensive here too, that's why I'm quite glad that my due date is in November (by my calculations!) but I love having a December birthday Smile

Talcott2007 · 06/04/2020 12:22

It's not good but it's not necessarily bad either. My organisation is also topping up the difference to the governments 80% so we get full pay and will currently be furloughed be until 31st May. Without being too outing my role is part of 'governance' and legally required long term so I'm not too concerned about a redundancy (unless the whole charity collapses obviously) I can only do a limited amount from home anyway so it does make sense from an organisation perspective - charities are being massively hit by the lockdown and COVID19 so we have had to identify the roles and whole departments in some cases that either can't physically work or who's work can be 'paused' and take advantage of the government grants which in turn eases the financial pressure overall and reduces the risk of the charity genuinely having to close/go bankrupt etc.

My very personal (selfish) worry is that if the furlough continues and the organisation can't continue to top up to 100% once I get into my qualifying weeks for Mat Pay it will have a financial impact on me. Also I genuinely worry what would happen if things are not back to normal by the time I deliver and go on Mat Leave - took 11mths off with my 1st and would like to think I'd do similar this time so I could potentially be 'away' from the business for the best part of 2years at this rate!

Oh and also I had a really shitty experience with the company I worked for when pg with DD - very long story which ended up with me being made redundant. It was all very deliberate and discriminatory - like constant pressure to end my mat leave early or just do this bit of work and my LM demanding to know when I would stop BFeeding over night so I could be sent to work at a branch in Scotland! Etc (but I difficult to prove and didn't seem worth it the time to do anything about it)
My current organisation is totally different ethos so I am genuinely not worried about anything untoward like that this time BUT the whole situation has almost brought back all the old anxiety from my last Mat Leave.

Sorry that turned into a bit of a ramble!!

Wise0wl · 06/04/2020 12:58

@Talcott2007 so interesting to hear about your experience of mat leave (sorry it wasn't good).

I'm really worried about the lockdown/mat leave/being away from work for so long. I'll be the first woman to go on mat leave so it's terrifying because I don't know what to expect/how it will work/if I'll be able to come back (I know legally I can, but you know, some companies make it difficult..)

BooMamaBear · 06/04/2020 13:02

Ok my god ladies I am so happy! Totally ecstatic actually i know there is still a long way to go and the miscarriage risk from the CVS isn't over til a week tomorrow but having lost 2 boys in 3 years my little baby girl is not affected by the condition!!! Should be due about 9th -13th October - Datong scan differs from 12 week one!! Xx

Yay congratulations @BooMamaBear, you must be over the moon!

BooMamaBear · 06/04/2020 13:06

I literally cried down the phone to the Dr!!

OP posts:
Hatepickinganame · 06/04/2020 13:29

@BooMamaBear yay! Such good news! So happy for you! You must feel so relieved.

@Talcott2007 im now off work for at least 4 weeks, which is full pay. Anything after that will be ssp, which is terrifying. I also have 4 weeks holiday left to take this year, so already wondering if i should move that forward. Gonna wait and see where we are at in 3 weeks time, then make a plan with my oh and my boss from there. I think my oh is relieved im off though. Will probably take mat leave from end of nov, but if this carries on ill end up having to take it early i think.

professorastrocat · 06/04/2020 14:06

Eek that such good news @BooMamaBear I'm not surprised you cried down the phone. I'm so chuffed for you!! (Not sure ive ever felt so invested in someone I don't know!! ❤️) it's been quite a journey for you.
Can you tell people now that you're expecting?xx

BooMamaBear · 06/04/2020 14:12

Thank you everyone for your support I appreciate every one of you!
Thanks so much @professorastrocat I feel like you've been with me every step coz we've been in this group together since we started this thread
We've told family but I've not told my daughter yet she's been desperate for a sister and don't want to tell her til the miscarriage risk had passed! Xxxx

professorastrocat · 06/04/2020 14:28

Aw that's so lovely for your little girl I'm very happy for you. It's just nice to have some good news at the moment!
We're not telling our little boy for a while yet, probably try and get away with after we know if he's getting a little brother or sister, as he'll want to know that! Depends how big I get I suppose.

I'm getting nervy for scan next week though. Want to know everything's ok and it still feels ages off!

BooMamaBear · 06/04/2020 14:36

@professorastrocat - I know everyday seems to last for ever and it's dragging but it'll come soon enough -how far along will you be when you have your scan? I'm sure everything will be ok xx

Anon87 · 06/04/2020 15:03

@BooMamaBear Fantastic news. Hope there's a nice relief of your shoulders and you can enjoy your pregnancy xx

Work stuff - in the perfect world we'd all be back 15th April (3 week lockdown) but I really highly doubt that happening and even if it did I've told DP I'd still give it another 2/3 week before I ventured back.

Talcott2007 · 06/04/2020 15:20

Wonderful News @BooMamaBear! So pleased for you!!! Xxx

professorastrocat · 06/04/2020 15:38

@Anon87 I can't see how it's al going to work out at the moment. If the schools stay shut then people continue to have no choice but to work at home, where they can 🤷‍♀️

@BooMamaBear thanks I'll be 13+2 I think

calimommy · 06/04/2020 16:15

@BooMamaBear I'm thrilled for you x

Wise0wl · 06/04/2020 17:31

Amazing news @BooMamaBear! So delighted for you!

Hatepickinganame · 06/04/2020 17:34

Is cramping normal? If i hadnt had two positive tests I'd think this was period pain? 🙄

BooMamaBear · 06/04/2020 17:39

I had loads of cramping at the beginning sometimes it was quite severe just keep an eye on it and make sure there's no red blood associated with it! Xx

OP posts:
Lola871 · 06/04/2020 20:02

@Hatepickinganame yes I had a lot of period pain in the first week or so and am still getting it at 8 weeks although a bit less frequently.

Hatepickinganame · 06/04/2020 20:28

Thanks guys, its gone again. Really need to try and relax 😂 easier said than done right now though huh x
