I am really beating myself up about the smoking. I am currently 18weeks pregnant and smoker , since I found out I was pregnant I have really cut back a lot. I do not smoke a full cigarette I ask my partner or friends for a couple of drags.. all day in work I don't smoke it's just when I'm home. Does anyone know how truly harmful this is for the baby? I know people who smoked during pregnancy a lot more then me.. I know I cant justify my smoking but I really am only taking pulls and then literally downing a gallon of water to try make myself feel better :(
I've loads going on I've failed my driving test and an exam I was doing and my partner is between jobs and my mam is fighting with me and sometimes I just need the odd drag or two too calm me down

Long term smoker gave up for both my children no waffling and no I feel so guilty bla bla. Hardest time I've ever been through, lost my closest relative, terrible pregnancy and bed bound for 3 months and I was depressed and desperate to smoke and didn't. Infact I cried nearly every day bout it. So I dont buy your rubbish sorry . Do you not have google? Type in dangers of smoking on unborn baby it's all there obviously.

we had all paid for the food and the lady was clearing up the table the place was busy and I would have been sat on my own

This actually beggars belief. Grow up! I'm sorry, but this kind of childish and irresponsible behaviour from you makes me really worry about how selfish you'll be as a mother.

*A wider family who give not one shit about anything other than their disgusting, poisonous habit.

Your focus is on smoking while pregnant. I’d be looking wider at the world you’re bringing this child into and the selfish, selfish people (you included) who in it*

I agree with this. Your friends and family are disgusting. I’ve never smoked and the vast majority of people I know don’t either but out of the few who did/do not one would have smoked anywhere near me when I was pregnant.

As for not wanting to sit at the table on your own for 10 minutes you are going to need to grow up as that’s truly pathetic. I don’t think you’re actually mature enough to be a parent but I guess you’ll grow up once the baby is born.

I was a smoker before my first pregnancy, I quit as soon as I got the positive test. I couldn’t have continued smoking at all, not knowing how much damage it can cause. The miscarriage, stillbirth and SIDS risk is enough for me.

Must agree. But I'm also amazed sitting at a table alone is such a big issue. If me and DH eat out, we only go outside one at a time incase it looks like weve ditched, so never even considered it a thing for people to not want to be sat alone.

Tbh I would be also very concerned about the environment your child will grow up in if people care so little about the well documented impacts of smoking also second hand smoke on babies, even if not in the same room it can be very damaging over long term, such as getting in a car or going into a room that was previously smoked in regardless of how well ventilated you may think it is, or even physical contact with someone who has been smoking can be harmful in the long term. No nicotine is safe during pregnancy but vaping is definitely safer once baby is here (although I personally dont agree with filling a room with vapour with a child present just because its unpleasant for others who cant vape/smoke- me and DH both vape).

I don’t smoke myself but I have a friend who really struggled to quit during pregnancy at first.

Asking people not to smoke around you could be a big help, I’m sure they won’t mind and it takes away some of the temptation, I know my friend found this hard too as a lot of our friend group smoke. Everyone was happy to smoke away from her obviously as second hand smoke is also a thing! My friend used a vape to get herself off them completely as well so that could be an idea.

I know it must be so hard to stop but you can do it! I know a few people (not all pregnant however) who have went from smoking 40+ a day and managed to go cold turkey, so it is possible! You can do it 🤞🏼
