The lack of growth of my leg hair- that was a nice perk Wink

How quickly I would need to change bra sizes. Such a waste buying £100 worth of new bras thinking I would get ages out of them to get 3 weeks!

How hard it is to find nice maternity clothes that don't cost a fortune

The bloating in the first few weeks Shock

redexpat · 07/01/2020 20:51

Drool and dreams for me.
snapping back isnt as instantaneous as it sounds.
New borns on their way out look like voldemort.
Baby boys can be born with HUGE testicals.

Hopingforbabyd · 07/01/2020 21:04

Farting.
I remember once (about 20 weeks) I had such bad farts I seriously felt like I'd deflated. Hubby could not come down stairs because the room just smelt of broccoli.

PPopsicle · 07/01/2020 21:08

Not being able to get your socks and shoes on because you can’t see your feet

TheOrigFV45 · 08/01/2020 04:41

That some baby moves are visible from the outside, so if you're wearing a snug top other people can see. Alien!!

melissa1215 · 08/01/2020 04:44

Hairy belly

Aches and pains

Spots (I thought we all glowed)

Rings stop fitting earlier on than I thought

Snowflake9 · 08/01/2020 05:32

Rib pain. Oh my godddddd.
Wrists and hands hurt so much after a day at the computer
The gas, it's so loud.

Did I pee? Or was it my waters.

If you don't have a pregnancy pillow, I don't know how you would sleep.

Annoying comments from people "you look for to burst,"

"How are you Coping in this heat?" (I was 8mo pregnant in peak of heatwave. In an office without Aircon )
.
Smell - not just cravings but food aversions also. No garlic for me.

Kicks in your foof. I swea I thought he may just kick his way out.

Constantlurker · 08/01/2020 10:42

Oh another one I just remembered! My bloody eyesight changed!! Pre-baby I had laser eye surgery to correct long - sightedness, perfext 2020 vision, post baby lo and behold I'm now bloody short sighted!! It may not be pregnancy that did it but I'm blaming it!

shutupsteph · 08/01/2020 10:46

Here's an unexpected one for me, you can drool like a dog when asleep!! I hate sleeping on my side 😣

OccasionalNachos · 08/01/2020 19:53
  • The one thing that nobody prepared me for was how you feel yourself "slowing down" more and more towards the end. It felt like the radius of things I could physically do kept shrinking and I had to adapt my errands to distances I could still walk or planning stuff around access to toilets.

It actually hit me quite hard, and I imagined this was how life with a chronic/progressive illness must feel like. I felt a deep sympathy and sadness for people who must live like that all the time. It also scared me a bit that the line between health and disability is so thin, but most healthy people take mobility and energy for granted*

This. 100% this. The physical restrictions.

Also constipation, unbelievable amounts of vaginal discharge, sweating, moodiness, and the fact that any and all symptoms can come & go at the drop of a hat. I thought there would be more consistency.

This! You've described it so well. It really brought home to me how you don't have anything without your health. I felt so much sympathy for people with incurable conditions. Also I felt existential despair thinking about how that will be me one day - through illness or old age or whatever.

goingtoneedabiggercar · 09/01/2020 13:17

Completely agree about feeling debilitated. I was so resistant to using a wheelchair as I felt they were for people who were "really no able" however by the time I had him I could barely get from the car (which I was unable to drive) to the shop never mind her round the shop. I relented a couple of times so I could actually get out of the house. I hated it. I hated having to rely on people. I get out much more with a newborn. I found a while new respect and sympathy for people with long term health conditions and perhaps elderly people who've lost their mobility. It was something I had taken completely for granted.

GingerRH · 09/01/2020 13:27

Every fucking thing

And yes the sweat was needed

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 09/01/2020 13:48

100% about the gradual reduction in physical ability

The 'pregnancy glow' story was written by the same man who called it 'morning' sickness.

You will burp - 400 times a day.

You will poop - once every few days.

You will pee - 4 thousand times a day.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 09/01/2020 14:51

Oh and when you cough or sneeze, you will piss your pants.

LunaLula83 · 09/01/2020 14:55

Piles! Piles for months on end!
Restless legs for 9 months
After birth bleeding for days

After pregnancy:
Different size boobs. Not noticeable, but makes buying a bra awkward.
Bloat. Food makes me bloat
Stinky farts, loooooong farts!

Kcoffecakebubs · 09/01/2020 16:14

Burping, lots of burping!

ballsdeep · 09/01/2020 16:18

I have incredibly loose stools I think it's the iron tablets!
And black poo 😳💩

TheOrigRightsofwomen · 09/01/2020 16:58

Yup, iron tablets made me totally the opposite of constipated. I had to lower my dose.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 09/01/2020 17:06

I was on iron tablets for a bit and became incredibly constipated with black sticky poo. thank god I came off them. it was awful.

some newborn girls look like they have massive testicles...

we wanted to discover the sex ourselves at the birth, but when they held her up to look, neither me, or DH could call it...... it was like in Blackadder, a boy without a winkle.....it's a...girl. We both couldn't say anything, so eventually the midwife announced it. LOL.

BabyB19 · 09/01/2020 17:42

This thread has both amused and terrified me in equal measure, I'm currently only 7 weeks and can not wait to experience all of these weird and wonderful things 😭🤣

avocadont · 09/01/2020 18:26

My left, and only my left, nipple will just start randomly leaking at 23 weeks

I would be sat in the library and lean forward to get a book and let out a huge, uncontrollable fart

Customer service is no longer a good job for me to have, one day I'm giving the best service I've ever given and the next day I'll bark at a guest for asking something stupid (oops)

WHY ARE MY DREAMS SO WEIRD???

Fatigue goes in the second trimester? Good one. I sleep constantly but never at a normal time, and I can't control it...

People will run over to help you do literally anything involving any movement, I appreciate it so much but I have got this!

Wonkydonkey44 · 09/01/2020 18:37

Snoring , acid reflux and heart burn , piles and thrush !
