pelvic pain and the cracking sound of your hips when rolling over in bed - which is an ordeal itself

all the crying - for no reason at all

3rd trimester sickness - its the worst, just randomly vomitting!

on the plus side, for me its the best bloody diet as i have no capacity to eat rubbish due to the heartburn!

BayHorse · 07/01/2020 09:48

Doing a wee test in a standard wee test pot is an impossible task.

Meshy12 · 07/01/2020 10:03

“Doing a wee test in a standard pot”

Haha yes this - I forgot this. Really struggled to do it without causing a puddle

But despite it all - obviously it’s all worth it and I loved every single of being pregnant personally

wondering7777 · 07/01/2020 10:09

That the nausea and tiredness doesn’t magically disappear in the second trimester.

1300cakes · 07/01/2020 10:19

I was going to say that everyone complains so much about pregnancy (with good reason) and tries to scare you with horror stories, that there isn't one symptom that suprised me or that I hadn't heard of.

But reading this thread I remembered there was one:
Not being able to easily wipe after peeing as you just can't bend that way any more.

paperplant · 07/01/2020 10:22

brushing my teeth would make me gag. And then the gagging had me pee my pants.

wondering7777 · 07/01/2020 10:44

Also that once you start feeling movements, it's the most nerve-wracking thing ever! I'm constantly on edge when the baby has gone quiet and worrying whether everything is ok. The baby was moving around loads two days ago but there's been little activity since Sad I've found it the most stressful time of pregnancy so far (I'm 23 weeks).

TheOrigFV45 · 07/01/2020 10:47

A lot of my previous issues like sciatica actually disappeared with pregnancy.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten this. Prior to pregnancy I had had a few episodes of really throwing my back out. Not sciatica, more muscular - where it just 'goes' when doing something like bending to make the bed, or fill the bath.

I haven't done the same since pregnancy, so maybe relaxin helped ping things back to where they should be.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 07/01/2020 13:39

This has made me giggle!

Ive got a puffy face and puffy thighs now.

Also though, nobody mentions that moles change shape or size. I booked an appointment with my doctor because I was convinced said mole had turned cancerous.

@doodlejump1980 I forgot about the night sweats! They are horrendous- I got sick of smelling myself! 🤢

ballsdeep · 07/01/2020 13:59

Not so much in pregnancy but in childbirth - the ring of fire.
Oh... My..... God....... I thought my foof had been sat on the 7th circle of hell.

PrincessMarm · 07/01/2020 15:24

Supersonic hearing and people breathing normally annoying you, night sweats, ribs constantly aching/hurting..

No pregnancy glow!! 31 weeks and still waiting!!!!

BayHorse · 07/01/2020 16:23

No pregnancy glow!! 31 weeks and still waiting!!!!

@PrincessMarm due tomorrow and still waiting for mine too Grin

NearlyOutedMyself · 07/01/2020 16:33

How strong the baby can kick (or punch), particularly if they've been asleep for a while and suddenly wake up.

My dc developed a trick of booting me until I ate something, presumably it crossed the placenta and they settled down again. Talk about service on demand Grin.

Oliversmumsarmy · 07/01/2020 18:35

I don’t think I ever got the pregnancy glow.

My 2nd pregnancy was horrendous

I have photos of me a few weeks before I got pregnant.
I didn’t look too bad. I was 40 but looked mid 30s at most.

Then there are photos of me taken when I was about 8 weeks pregnant

My hair has turned grey, my body has doubled in size and I look like I am nearly 60

Showed photos to dc and even they were shocked.

melissa1215 · 07/01/2020 18:40

That I would get a hairy belly!! I honestly never knew that was a potential side effect

Unbelievable thirst

I never thought my belly could stretch so much!!

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 07/01/2020 18:46

The need to wee. I mean I know you expect the need to wee more but it's utterly ridiculous when you wake up in the night BURSTING, go for a wee (which is usually a disappointing amount compared to the niagra falls your body had prepared you for) to waddle back to bed, break both hips getting back into a 'comfortable' position spooning a maternity cushion that's the size of a car transporter, to then realise you need ANOTHER WEE!!! 😕

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 07/01/2020 18:46

But otherwise its a hoot Blush

kemosabeimalone · 07/01/2020 18:58

Snoring - you can produce epic levels of snoring to the point that your partner can hear you like a drill from another room. This is caused by the ligaments softening and exacerbating the muscles dropping down at the base of the throat. If you are a throat snorer like me (rather than a nose snorer) the effects can be phenomenal. Last pregnancy I got fitted for a orthodental guard which I still wear now as it helps me sleep so much better (and saved me from divorce! Wink)

The other random thing is that morning sickness can be triggered by sounds and feelings and images as well as food and smells. I’m currently 14 weeks and having a shower (the sensation of the water hitting my skin) makes me want to chunder. Previously it was the Butternut squash character on Mr Bloom. My friend was similarly affected by the siren noise in Octonauts!!!Grin

kemosabeimalone · 07/01/2020 19:02

Adding: I miss having a rational sense of smell - even lovely Diptyque candles smell like wet dog to me atm!

WellTidy · 07/01/2020 19:15

How emotionally all over the place I would be. It was Children In Need night when I was about 7 months pregnant. I had started maternity leave (as I was poorly with hyperemesis and basically went on maternity leave so that I wouldn’t feel the need to be in touch with work about when I would be back) and we had moved house. An expensive time. I was so upset that I felt the need to donate all the money in our current account to Children In Need. It was £££. DH topknot well when he came in from work, considering.

MerryDeath · 07/01/2020 19:17

THIS is what panty liners were invented for. i'd always wondered.

today i am 40+1, someone take me outside and shoot me.

teenmom2be · 07/01/2020 20:10

Heartburn/Acid reflux
Vivid dreams
Loss of sex drive
Hair on body growing in thick and dark🙄

teenmom2be · 07/01/2020 20:10

Oh , and the involuntary farting in the worst situations

pastaparadise · 07/01/2020 20:40

I'd forgotten some of these! I really enjoyed both pregnancies but

  • random bleeds with dc1 - made me very anxious but all ok.
  • linea nigra
  • bigger moles and more skin tags
  • aching feet at night - even when i hadnt walked anywhere
  • glorious swishy hair that i only needed to wash once a week (then 9 months of grease landed on me about 3 months pp)
  • the complete joy of seeing and feeling kicks.
