Have you done this? Are you planning on doing this? Tell me your ideas! (It's baby #2, dc1 is 17 months old).

That’s very cute! Maybe get a ‘big brother/sister’ for the older child and watch him work it out?

Peanutty86 · 21/12/2019 18:22

@Lordfrontpaw thank you, I was trying to find one in the shops but was unsuccessful... and there's no good ones on amazon prime😏

If you are handy with a fabric pen...

Lordfrontpaw · 21/12/2019 18:25

I’m going to get one of these for DS (15 years) and scare the life out of him!

Peanutty86 · 21/12/2019 18:32

Haha yeah I saw that one. Will have a look in the local mothercare tomorrow. Maybe they have some left. If not I might try and give it a go.

Try H&M for big bro t shirts

Peanutty86 · 21/12/2019 18:35

@adhdme2019 I did. No success.

I put my pregnancy test in an envelope with Special Delivery on it.
What a lovely thing to find out 😍 congrats OP

yellowallpaper · 21/12/2019 18:36

I made a card for a mum to be with the older boys hockey skates parked by side of the ice rink, and a teeny new pair with a label attached saying 'do not open until....date.... older brothers were ice hockey kids and it was a Canadian client. Maybe something similar?

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 21/12/2019 18:39

@Peanutty86 next sell big bro tops at the moment.

Peanutty86 · 21/12/2019 18:41

@Chocolateandchats that sounds nice. I've done similar with dc1, also got him baby stuff for his favourite football club, one was a softball they play with together a lot so I ordered a second one, but not sure how to present it?

OP posts:
katewhinesalot · 21/12/2019 18:41

A "Congratulations on your new baby" card?

Peanutty86 · 21/12/2019 18:42

@yellowallpaper so cute! I think it'll be football related... also something along the lines of "sorry, your present on order but lead times are approx 9 months. Delivery expected in early September"... 👌🏼

Christmas is special enough, why not just do it now if you already know? I think you should tell your husband first, buying "big bro" tops for your DC1 and leaving him out of that process might not be the best plan.

Peanutty86 · 21/12/2019 18:43

@Justasconfusedwithnumber2 awesome I'll have a look there tomorrow too!

OP posts:
Peanutty86 · 21/12/2019 18:49

@KingBobra ....and why not make it extra special and telling him then? And maybe the circumstances to tell him right now aren't how I would like him to find out? Dc1 is 17months and cannot read, so no, it wouldn't be like I'm leaving DH out...

Are you sure you want to let your dc1 know this early on in the pregnancy? I would wait until after the first scan if I were you.

olllsss · 21/12/2019 18:57

Her child is 17months!

lyingwanker · 21/12/2019 19:07

Pretty sure 17 month olds can't read

yellowallpaper · 21/12/2019 19:09

@Peanutty86 I would have made the card for free except I've shut up my Etsy shop and my mind is also in holiday mode (ie sheer unadulterated idleness!)

If you have a good printer message me as I have a nice snowman themed 'don't open til..... card I can quickly alter to football and football boots so it would only take me a few minutes as the card is already done (client wanted ice rink theme instead) 😊

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 21/12/2019 19:10

I would have liked to (found about about DD2 on December 22nd!) but wasn’t patient enough. Did it for my parents by wrapping pregnancy test up in a HUGE box weighed down with books. Watching them work it out was really funny.

Boymummy3 · 21/12/2019 20:13

Have you seen the box's people are doing with the choc inside so when you take the lid off it all folds out? You could do similar but with baby related items.. Pregnancy tests.. A vest or top with born in 2020 on some little baby socks etcc.. Asda have some nice born in 2020 items then give to dh he won't know what it is due to it just looking like a box. X

peachypetite · 21/12/2019 20:17

Personally I’d just tell him, some of these seem a little like tempting fate. It’s very early days.

essexanon · 21/12/2019 20:20

I’m telling my partner tomorrow. I’ve booked a private scan. I also bought a book ‘mr grumpy becomes a dad’ which he will unwrap just before the scan, along with the pregnancy test.

On Christmas Day, I’ve printed a poem I found online, framed it and will give it to my mum and dad and sister. This is the poem, it would also work for your husband, just change the name to son/daughter.
