so my gorg family have once again suprised me with a massive holiday to maldheives (if it was me who booked to go with my partner i would cancl) ( i should add its in 4 weeks to go away for christmas)

we are a super close family so i cant use work as an excuse

but they have booked or us all to go away and i feel like i dont want to let them down/ waste their money / make them sad

but obviously they did not know we was trying for a baby

i have spoke with my docotr who didnt even know about zika

2 questions what would you do ?

if you was to not go what would you tell them ?

Thanks Anna x

If you aren’t pregnant yet why don’t you just pause TTC until the new year and enjoy a nice holiday before? Wish my family organised a holiday to the Maldives sounds amazing!

momoney1 · 29/11/2019 08:58

You posted this the other day (maybe twice?) and I'm pretty sure people told you to just go.

TheCanterburyWhales · 29/11/2019 08:59

I would go.

Whoops75 · 29/11/2019 09:00

I would go too

HollyBollyBooBoo · 29/11/2019 09:01

So you're not pregnant already? Could you skip a month and not try between now and when you return from holiday?

If you are pregnant don't go. IMO it's just not worth the risk.

qwertt12 · 29/11/2019 09:01

hi! thanks for all your replys so quickly, i just don't feel like i can pause ttc

sorry for asking again i just feel i am going out of my mind (silly i know) think i am hoping for someone to come up with a mircale

Then you can't go and you need to tell your family ASAP.

qwertt12 · 29/11/2019 09:02

@HollyBollyBooBoo no defianltly not pregnant now, i think we would need to wait 3 months when we got back which feels like a big wait when we have been trying for some time already x

MyDcAreMarvel · 29/11/2019 09:02

Well it’s 8 weeks for you 3 months for your partner . Would I put of ttc for 3/4 months from now for a holiday, definitely not.

qwertt12 · 29/11/2019 09:03

@Whoops75 would you go and wait the 3 months after, we are willing to pay for the zika tests when we get back x

OpheliaBee · 29/11/2019 09:04

Pretty sure current guidance is not to travel if there is an ongoing outbreak. The Maldives haven’t had a case for some time.

qwertt12 · 29/11/2019 09:04

@MyDcAreMarvel !! see this is the kinda message i want to be reading which makes me think... i have made up my mind?? xx

There was also some helpful advice on your third thread here www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/3752511-has-anybody-found-out-they-was-pregnant-after-coming-back-from-a-zika-virus-are

HollyBollyBooBoo · 29/11/2019 09:05

Have had a quick google - current advice is that you wait 3 months to ttc after coming back from regions where you may have been exposed to Zika as there has been cases of it being sexually transmitted.

I think you're going to have to say no to the holiday.

qwertt12 · 29/11/2019 09:05

@OpheliaBee my best friend lives in india and she says they know about it there but it is not a worry / a risk and maldhives is so close to india she was like no there wont be a problem there till she looked at the map and saw it was purple but she says there is no ongoing outbreak x

I would definitely go to the Maldives. Youre 21 I think so it's not like waiting a couple of months is a big deal. Might chill you out

HollyBollyBooBoo · 29/11/2019 09:06

Ha cross posts @qwertt12!

qwertt12 · 29/11/2019 09:06

@momoney1 yeah this is the other thing, i didn't know my age can be seen haha

i don't feel stressed that we havent conceived yet, i just dont want to come back and feel trapped that we need to wait 3 months
i just dont think its worth the stress x

Newbie1981 · 29/11/2019 09:09

If you pay for a private doc (think it cost me a couple of hundred quid) you can have a test when back meaning can TTC as soon as you get the negative result, which takes a couple of weeks

GCAcademic · 29/11/2019 09:10

i just dont think its worth the stress x

So don't go then if three months is going to be such a big deal.

mummmy2017 · 29/11/2019 09:10

I think you need too look at how many children have been born with Zika symptoms in the UK.
It won't hurt to take a rest from baby making and enjoy a holiday instead.
I also think you need to manage your worries, or once you have a child you will be a nervous wreck.

bobble53 · 29/11/2019 09:11

You’ve asked this loads already.

Just go.

If this is playing on your mind so much now and you’re not even pregnant, then sorry but you’re going to struggle when you are pregnant anxiety wise.
