so my gorg family have once again suprised me with a massive holiday to maldheives (if it was me who booked to go with my partner i would cancl) ( i should add its in 4 weeks to go away for christmas)

we are a super close family so i cant use work as an excuse

but they have booked or us all to go away and i feel like i dont want to let them down/ waste their money / make them sad

but obviously they did not know we was trying for a baby

i have spoke with my docotr who didnt even know about zika

2 questions what would you do ?

if you was to not go what would you tell them ?

Thanks Anna x

Three years ago went to maldives on honeymoon. Not actively trying but not not trying either. 9months later perfectly healthy baby born

Trust me, a holiday in the Maldives is likely to be much more enjoyable pre baby than post baby.
Just go and stop worrying

There's actually a fair amount of misinformation on here about Zika risk. If you go, you really should follow PHE's advice about delaying conception.

You have 2 options -

  1. go and stop TTC for now. Pay for tests when you get back to make sure you haven't got it and can carry on TTC

  2. don't stop TTC and just go. I wasn't aware of Zika being big in the Maldives recently? And if you check online, Zika is low risk now in most holiday destinations. We have family in Brazil and that didn't stop them having babies when Zika was a national emergency.
