Second Trimester - who enjoyed who didn't?

Just a random question.... interested to hear how others found their second trimester? I'm 2 weeks away from being in the 3rd trimester and I have not enjoyed it as much as I'd have liked too.

Won't go to much into detail but just people at work being flakey, the travel to and from work, how bad my skin has been, how hungry I always am, I'm emotional about almost everything (dramatic I know lol!), I'm always exhausted and I hope the next 15 weeks go by quickly Grin

I'm 28 weeks and haven't enjoyed the 2nd trimester either. Maybe I was fortunate because I wasn't sick or anything in the first, just a bit tired, so the last few months of feeling uncomfortable and constantly emotional have been horrible. This is my second pregnancy and I haven't enjoyed either - love the baby at the end but totally hate the months getting there.

ejmay90 · 28/11/2019 10:39

Sorry to hear your having a rough 2nd trimester.

I'm nearly 19 weeks and the 2nd trimester feels like a breeze, to the point i don't feel pregnant at all! (of course that has made me worry)

All my sickness totally disappeared. My tiredness is better than the 1st but still have been going to bed at 8.30/9, until a few days ago i've managed to stay awake until 10!
My skin hasn't cleared up which i was hoping it would, but has got better since the 1st.

I'm guessing having such a good 2nd my 3rd may be hell lol!

nicannie · 28/11/2019 10:40

@Annie1109 what your describing sounds similar to me. I've only ever been physically sick once but in my first trimester the nausea and exhaustion was SO bad that I couldn't wait to just feel better. But it's almost continued into this trimester and now I have the cold as well which makes me feel even worse. This is my first baby, so I can't wait for the end already so that I can have her here with us x

I don't know anyone who has enjoyed any of pregnancy

nicannie · 28/11/2019 10:43

@ejmay90 I did actually have a few weeks where I forgot I was pregnant, I didn't get a bump etc until around 21 weeks so think it was just before that I was almost at the stage where I was forgetting! But it didn't last long.

Haha - I hope your 3rd is a breeze just like your 2nd. I'm really hoping for a good 3rd, although can't see it. If I don't, it will hopefully just mean I feel better once baby is here!

@mousemousse loads of people tell me they enjoyed pregnancy all throughout, some say they enjoyed the 2nd trimester..

Yeah I got told I’d have a burst of energy in the second trimester, instead I started being sick from week 16 and I’m now 37 weeks... still waiting for the burst of energy hahaha!!

ejmay90 · 28/11/2019 11:11

@nicannie Oh really! I've had a slight bump for a while but kept thinking it's getting smaller lol!
I was at the gym the other day and forgot, had to rain in my work out as i'm normally a heavy weights girl. Luckily my partner goes to the same gym and keeps a close eye on me lol!
Doing battle ropes and he walks up and shouts 'BREATH' to me :)
You will probably get a good 3rd and i'll have an awful one!
Fingers crossed for a good one for you!

nicannie · 28/11/2019 11:12

@Samantha1712xx that's awful!! I'm still waiting for the 'glow' or 'burst of energy' too lol!! I hope your holding up well, really not long for you to go now!!!

I absolutely loved my second trimester. I felt really good, empowered. Energy was back, eating habits returned to normal. I was able to continue at the gym. Then the third hit.. oh my.

nicannie · 28/11/2019 11:15

@ejmay90 yeah I'm 25 weeks now and people at my work still don't even know or are really surprised when they find out especially when I say I only have 15 weeks to go!!! Mines is most certainly getting bigger now, but I think I notice it more than others. I stopped the gym, I was a weight kinda gal before pregnancy too, but I had 8 weeks of bleeding at the start so was told to stop heavy lifting as well as exercising until it all stopped, I never got back in to it which was unfortunate as I wish I had kept it up!
Wish I had a motivation friend or OH like you in real life that would come to the gym with me, that would definitely have picked my spirits up this trimester I think! Thanks, I hope you also continue to have a good 3rd one. Not too long for us both now xx

nicannie · 28/11/2019 11:16

@Snowflake9 that's amazing! Until the third hit that is. I'm hoping my third doesn't get harder, or I will struggle. I feel like my body already can't cope with my expanding of bump and baby etc! I lie in bed at nights tossing and turning every hour or so throughout. I need the toilet almost every 45 mins at least day time as well which is driving me nuts!

whiskersonkittenss · 28/11/2019 11:19

I'm 26 weeks and still have no energy or motivation. I'm thankful I've only been sick once and that was due to vigorously brushing my tongue with a toothbrush Grin but I don't know if I'll have another baby after this one. He's my first baby.

Snowflake9 · 28/11/2019 11:20

After I had my son. I was shocked at how little I peed. Haha. My third was hard as I have kidney problems and the increased pressure made them a bit bad. I also struggled with back ache and it was 32 degrees. Eughhhhhh.

ejmay90 · 28/11/2019 11:22

@nicannie Ohh really! everyone has noticed my bump but that's because i usually wear tight tops and i did have a small waist, not any more lol
I wish i only had 15 weeks to go!
Looking forward to the christmas break to be honest, only 3 weeks left at work.
Ohh that's rubbish you had to stop but definitely good idea if you had lots of bleeding. I think i went to the gym twice in the first trimester as i felt awful and a previous miscarriage made me want to protect my little one until the 12 weeks.
I have been told keeping it up helps with labour, im only managing 2-3 times a week but i also walk the dog 45 minutes a day.
Aww i know, i need a push sometimes too! My other half does try but when you only live 5 mins from work it's so easy to go home and get into comfys when it's cold and wet. Determined to push myself to the gym tonight though.
Thanks, hope so too :) xx

RunningWild82 · 28/11/2019 11:22

I am currently 20 weeks and not enjoying my second trimester. I had about 2 weeks off nausea and vomiting and it's stupid started again. While the tiredness is reduced I'm still waiting for glow / energy increase everyone talks about. Hoping it gets better and sorry to hear about others people not enjoying it too

paperplant · 28/11/2019 11:29

I'm in my third now, and while i can't say my second trimester was enjoyable, it was better than my first (nausea and food aversions) and also, i think, a bit better than now - now the belly just gets in the way and is uncomfortable for sleeping and doing things, and I'm getting more and more exhausted day by day!

I have continued going to the gym twice a week for Bodypump class (ie lightish weights but many reps), maybe that'd be an option for you too OP?

nicannie · 28/11/2019 11:52

@whiskersonkittenss snap. sick once, but think it was something I ate. but the motivation and tiredness levels are strong lol. I have also already said not sure if I will have another baby, this being my first too!

OP posts:
nicannie · 28/11/2019 11:54

@Snowflake9 I hope I get shocked as my pee stops like that! I suffer from a lot of kidney infections, I've had one this pregnancy already as well which was agony. It's at least cold thankfully, but my back ache is mega, considering I don't usually suffer any back ache. It's mainly my tail bone, I have to like roll my body to get up and it hurts to sit down due to it!

OP posts:
nicannie · 28/11/2019 11:58

@ejmay90 I wear tight tops and dresses too, with a tiny waist lol. I am only 5ft 2 and was a small size 8 when I fell so I was shocked that there wasn't much happening. Although I think people just assume I'm putting on weight (winter bulking?? lol)

Only 3 weeks left? That's amazing. I have around 7 left to work!

Sorry to hear about your previous miscarriage, I think you did the right thing avoiding. I should have done what you did, after 12 weeks get back into it!

Yeah I walk the dogs daily, we have 2 so that is helping me. I also do a lot of walking around in the day time at work, as well as the car park being ages away. I've been doing the occasional pregnancy work out from an online video - I did hear the exercising helps for labour too hence trying my best to get into it. That's lucky being 5 mins from work, I'm an hour each way in the car it's torture. By the time I get home I want to do nothing and I leave at 6am every morning to get here so I'm defo not working out before I get here! xx

nicannie · 28/11/2019 11:59

@RunningWild82 that's so shit that it has returned again!! I hope it gets better for you as you approach the third trimester at least!!

OP posts:
nicannie · 28/11/2019 12:00

@paperplant yeah your right, maybe the body pump would be a good option for me, I think I might have a little look around online tonight and see what I can find!

Good on you for still doing all that even in your third trimester! Not long to go for you now x

As soon as I stopped feeling sick at 14 weeks I adored being pregnant. Went almost 2 weeks over and loved every minute of it. The only bad thing was carpal tunnel but it was dealable with. One of the happiest times of my life.

nicannie · 28/11/2019 12:13

@peachgreen ahhh see that's lovely! I'm slightly jealous lol!! Someone in this thread said they had never heard of someone saying they enjoyed pregnancy... so I'm really glad you commented Grin

OP posts:
peachgreen · 28/11/2019 12:53

I was very lucky not to have any of the associated aches and pains - I had back pain in the first trimester but physio sorted it and otherwise I was fine. So it was easier for me to enjoy!
