Second Trimester - who enjoyed who didn't?

Just a random question.... interested to hear how others found their second trimester? I'm 2 weeks away from being in the 3rd trimester and I have not enjoyed it as much as I'd have liked too.

Won't go to much into detail but just people at work being flakey, the travel to and from work, how bad my skin has been, how hungry I always am, I'm emotional about almost everything (dramatic I know lol!), I'm always exhausted and I hope the next 15 weeks go by quickly Grin

That's good, I've been referred to the physio now at 25w so I'm hoping that can help me :) I didn't have any ahces in first trimester back pain wise but now it's pretty uncomfortable almost the full day for me

Almost 31 weeks and the 3rd trimester is going better than the 2nd. I am more tired but less pain. This is my last pregnancy so I am trying hard to enjoy it but it's not always easy!

ejmay90 · 28/11/2019 12:58

@nicannie I'm only 5ft4 and a size 8 before getting pregnant but feel i've now ballooned! Hate putting jeans on so have lived in dresses/leggings/tights lol!
Haha yea everyone at the gym knows i'm pregnant now but probably thought it was a winter bulk at first lol!.

3 weeks till christmas, bloody months until maternity :( as only 19 weeks this weekend!

Thank you, yea i think i done the right thing but feel i've just puffed out and if i had gone in the first trimester i may not feel so crap about myself now lol.

Yea walking definitely helps, sometimes the dogs make you go out when you don't want too which is good. Oh being that far away must suck! i should feel lucky being so close, but just wish the gym wasn't 30 mins the opposite way, may make me go more lol!
Something is better than nothing so were doing fine :)
I trained to be a PT last year alongside my current job, so have loads of equipment in the shed but the effort of getting it all out in the wet/rain and trying to do a workout in my tiny house with a dog is too much haha! :)

nicannie · 28/11/2019 13:03

@tisonlymeagain ahh you have gave me hope I might feel better in the 3rd lol. I could probably do more tired with less pain right about now! I hope you do manage to enjoy the remaining weeks x

@nicannie My PGP has practically gone! I have a few aches when I've been doing too much but at about 25 weeks I was crawling on the floor in tears. So relieved! Hopefully your aches and pains will ease.

Sweetooth92 · 28/11/2019 13:10

I think it’s pot luck. My first pregnancy was a breeze. No issues, no Illness and I never had to slow down or cut back on gym classes or anything. I still hated it as I can’t stand people thinking they can tell me what to do and feeling like my body wasn’t mine-but physically it was a dream.

This time, I’ve felt crap since about 6 weeks and it’s only got worse! 35 weeks in and still throwing up most days, exhausted, anaemic, uncomfortable and very much counting down to it all being over.

Never. Again.
I’d take giving birth sans pain relief weekly over the pregnancy part

nicannie · 28/11/2019 13:22

@ejmay90 Oh god, the jeans defo aren't a good look for me HAHA! I live in dresses for work and leggings in the house - so similar but it's really the easiest way forward and most comfiest!

Awwww oops sorry misread that! Blaming it on baby brain! That's me hit the 25 week mark today - I'm glad I only have 15 weeks left as I'm so impatient to meet baby now :)

Oh I feel you there, I keep saying if I had just kept a little bit of it going I wouldn't be so wide around my butt n thighs n arms right now haha!

Yeah it does suck, but it is what it is and I've done it for over 2 years now so almost used to it. It's just bad when there has been an accident or something as can sometimes take 2 hours to get home, it happens quite often.

Oh that's excellent! If you trained to be a PT you will have even more knowledge of what you can and can't do being pregnant I guess as well?? I'm currently using one of the spare rooms that's a 'junk' room to do the at home work outs, it works but isn't the most motivating lol!

nicannie · 28/11/2019 13:23

@tisonlymeagain oh wow. I really really hope that helps with me. I practically look like an old woman when I get in and out my car especially. And it's almost like I'm scared to move sometimes as I know how sore it's going to be when I get up out my chair at work. Praying they ease up!

I enjoyed second trimester. I was sick as a dog until 16 weeks so it was relief to be back to normal and able to eat as much as anything. Also people started giving seats on the bus etc, which I could have really done within the first trimester instead!

nicannie · 28/11/2019 13:25

@Sweetooth92 Your first pregnancy sounds like the kind of pregnancy I dream about lol! Yep, I found out at only 4 weeks due to how crap I felt, I knew before I tested. I am too counting down the days! You only have 5 weeks left, hopefully it goes in quick with Christmas just around the corner too!

HAHA! People keeping saying to me that I 'may' have an easy labour due to me struggling for most of the pregnancy, but I am NOT getting my hopes up!

OP posts:
nicannie · 28/11/2019 13:26

@ValancyRedfern I'm glad the sickness cleared up for you, crap you went to 16 weeks with it though. Are you in third trimester now and if so how's it going? Or have you had your baby now??

OP posts:
ValancyRedfern · 28/11/2019 14:01

She's actually 5! This came up on active convos and brought back memories! I found the third trimester ok apart from the tiredness - I had 4 weeks of mat leave before DD came along and I just napped, ate mince pies and watched TV, it was by some distance the best part of my mat leave! For me the first trimester was definitely the worst. Good luck!

nicannie · 28/11/2019 14:05

@valancyredfern Awww that's lovely! Some good memories I hope?! lol. Currently planned I have 6 weeks mat planned before baby is due, I'll probably do the same!! Thank you x

Second trimester was super boring!! Nobody really knew in work, it was the end of the summer so wasnt really going out anywhere. Also wasn't showing much - just had a nice bit of podge around the tummy for ages! Felt ok physically apart from an undiagnosed UTI - wasn't super painful but was weeing a lot with a few weird cramps. Thought it was just the baby growing but turns out I needed antibiotics.
28 weeks now and bump has popped out! Really looking forward to Christmas the it's the final countdown!! Can't wait to have a proper drink Grin
This is my second though and tbh I remember getting to the end of the third and just being SO over being pregnant. Only 10 weeks or so left now!

ejmay90 · 28/11/2019 14:13

@nicannie Yea i agree! i have brought loads of maternity jeans and sent them all back lol. Can't see to find any that are comfy and i don't just want to rip off the minute i put them on haha!

Haha that's ok! Lucky!!
Wish i was further along to meet my little boy (also hate my job lol)

Omg same! I feel my thighs/hips and bum have gone outwards and spent sooo long before pregnancy getting them shaped :(

Not long and you won't have to do the commute for a while!

I know some bits but haven't done the pre/post natal module yet so not as such during pregnancy im afraid. I've kept doing what i've been doing and made sure i can hold a conversation, i don't hold my breath, don't do anything lying on my back or any really heavy weights.
I bet, going home and motivating yourself to work out is not fun! it's why i have to drag myself to the gym lol but going from 2 hour sessions 5 days a week to 45 minutes is hard :(
Can't even squat my warm up weight without getting out of breath, which is depressing lol

Xyzzzzz · 28/11/2019 14:13

I’ve had my baby but I didn’t enjoy pregnancy at all. It’s good that people do! Everyone has different experiences.

nicannie · 28/11/2019 14:18

@LolaLollypop strange you say about the UTI, I'm weeing every 45 mins to an hour daily just now, no pain when I go but do have a lot of weird tummy aches and also bad back aches it's almost unbearable. Haha I think I might pop in the next few weeks as well!

I feel by the time I get to 30 weeks I'll be over it... not long now for you like you said!

OP posts:
nicannie · 28/11/2019 14:21

@ejmay90 I did the exact same! every time I tried on a pair I felt FRUMPY!!!! and like you say, overall uncomfortable!!

Hate my job too - but won't be long before your off and can meet your lil one! HAHAHA - honestly you sound exactly like me, I worked sooooo hard on my body pre pregnancy and was so happy with it, and honestly my butt is HUGE it's a joke lol.

Ahhh that's crap! That's a sensible way to do it all then. Aw I could only imagine, you miss it when that's what you have been used to right? And almost feel lazy..

OP posts:
LolaLollypop · 28/11/2019 14:22

@nicannie definitely go and get a wee test! Those were the only symptoms I had too. Feeling the need to wee all the time and a few weird cramps but nothing too painful. I actually did feel much better after the antibiotics.

nicannie · 28/11/2019 14:22

@Xyzzzzz I hear you..... I like hearing that some people do actually enjoy their pregnancies, it makes me think it isn't all bad lol!

OP posts:
nicannie · 28/11/2019 14:23

@LolaLollypop I think your right, that's what I'll do - I'll probs ring the doctors tomorrow! Thank you

With hindsight I felt great in the second trimester! I had energy, wasn't being sick too much (though did have reflux at night time that sometimes made me puke). My only issue was my hips were very painful and I couldn't walk very far or very quickly. I was still going on the cross trainer at the gym though, eating well and felt very healthy.

ejmay90 · 28/11/2019 15:17

@nicannie haha i know! i look at myself and i'm like just think your growing something amazing lol!

I feel so lazy! but i also have been told by so many people 'now is the time to enjoy yourself and eat what you want'
In my head i go nooooo because then i'll have to put in double the amount of work after lol!

R2D2abc · 28/11/2019 15:32

For me the second trimester so far it's not the best( and this is my 4th baby).

I taught at 13 weeks my all day nausea and felling all miserable was going away. Just for a few days. I'm pretty much feeling it daily, not as strong but enough to set me off. I've started to be really moody like in a bad mood, PGP is not helping. Daily headache ( don't worry, blood pressure is ok , I have it checked regularly due to PET in other pregnancy). Exhausted all the time.

I love my kids, love this baby, but it's fine to say not all have it all smooth and enjoy it. Who enjoys being miserable all the time? I know it's a fase and it will all get to holding my little baby next year, but not all lovely experience.

nicannie · 28/11/2019 17:04

@kinsters that's great that u were still able to exercise through the pain so to speak!! The reflux sounds like a right nightmare especially at night
