I've conceived twice and both times I knew from day one. It's really weird, but during the first week when I'm pregnant I get dreams telling me in no uncertain terms that I'm pregnant. Anyone else know by instinct that they were PG?

I did first time. Within about a day of conception I started to feel crappy but strangely happy!

Am waiting to see if my instincts are right this time.

frumpygrumpy · 23/08/2007 18:56

I knew I was having twins. Long before my scan I just felt my tummy one day and thought "its twins, my god, its twins" Haven't told anyone that ever, not even DP. Didn't think anyone would believe me. Funny how these things happen.

madamspud169 · 23/08/2007 19:06

I didn't know I was pregnant until the doctor told me when I was 5 months gone.
I was so ill I had no idea, I thought I had some sort of urinary tract blockage or a cyst of some kind, it was only when the emergency room doctor performed an ultrasound on my tummy & told me that I did have a blockage, a blockage with hands & feet that I found out. I'd had no sixth sense of feelings but it was the best news you could have to slip away into a coma with.

IdrisTheDragon · 23/08/2007 19:07

I "knew" with both DS and DD.

juuule · 23/08/2007 19:23

Nope - never "knew" just suspected and hoped.

tiredandgrumpy · 23/08/2007 19:40

First time round dh actually suspected before we did the test - he reckoned I smelt different. Just by sniffing my neck. Apparently I smelt different all pregnancy. Wasn't vomiting or anything so no other tell take signs.

Second time neither of us knew. Even got light spotting at time AF due, so didn't bother doing test for a few days.

sportybird · 23/08/2007 20:04

Knew also within a couple of days....no signs or dreams or anything...I just knew - weird!

LadyTophamHatt · 23/08/2007 20:13

Suspected with Ds1 but being my first I wasn't convinved I knew 100%

Knew with ds2, 1st test gave a -ve and I was flabbergasted, tested the next day and it was +ve.

Knew the morning after the deed IYKWIM with ds3. I was making a cup of tea and rememebrr thinking " I'm pregnant..I just know I'm pregnant"

With Ds4 I knew before any test could tell me. I knew because the seat belt in the car irritated my stomach, I didn't believe it, I didn't think there was any chance I could be pregnant, not in a million years but my stomach being irrtated by the seat belt kept telling me I was. He's 7 months old now and TBH i'm still not over the shock.....

Chattyhan · 23/08/2007 20:18

I knew! With first i was about a week late and vomiting and it was obvious but with DS2 i was sure did a test the day AF due and it was negative i couldn't believe it as i was so sure. Anyway after no AF 3 days later the result was positive!

quint · 23/08/2007 20:25

I knew both times 5 days after they were conceived.

1st time pretty obvious as we knew we'd taken a risk (DD1 not really planned!), with DD2 although we'd planned and weren't using anything nothing happened the first month but I knew right away again - no one believed me though!

Leoladyofleisure · 23/08/2007 20:54

Same as Frumpy - I knew I was having twins before it was confirmed. I looked up signs of twin preganancies on the internet but tried to dismiss my feelings as I didn't have any common signs. The day before my first scan I told my sister I had a really funny feeling it was twins. I didn't have any reason to think it was.

turtle23 · 23/08/2007 21:18

5 days before AF was due, had a dream I was on top of a mountain trying to make my husband understand (by shouting but only mouthing the words?)that I was pregnant. Woke up thinking that was odd, dug out a test (thinking it was way too early) and it came up BFP!

Washersaurus · 23/08/2007 21:37

TMI I realise, but my wee smells different (stronger) when I'm pregnant so I knew I was pregnant really early on both times - despite negative tests (done too early).

....I mean I don't normally notice the smell of my urine at all, its not like I sniff the bowl after I've pee'd or anything

Bollywould · 23/08/2007 21:44

With ds2 we were invited to posh friend of dh who has big wine cellar. He got out lots of fab wine and I just couldn't even bear the thought of it.. I knew then I must be pregnant ! Very disappointing. he never invited us again..

TigerFeet · 23/08/2007 21:47

I knew. I had loads of BFN's though (including a blood test @ GP) so had a Big Night Out, hangover lasted days and I got a BFP three days later.

I think next time, I will trust my instincts

thereandbackagain · 23/08/2007 22:30

I didn't know 'til about a week after period due (weird smelling wee a dead giveaway and drinking gallons of water), but six weeks before I'd sat down and worked out when a baby conceived after my next period would most likely be born. Wasn't TTC particularly (though not taking much evasive action) but it's the only time I've ever done anything like that.

miffys · 24/08/2007 01:33

had 2 pregnancy tests done on my first child and they were both negative , it wasn't until I asked for a 3rd test that they told me that I was 8 1/2 weeks pregnant, I just knew I was but the nurse kept saying that I wasn't

eidsvold · 24/08/2007 04:37

i did with dd1 and dd2 - with dd3 - more planned and so knew when to test but was not sure. Probably not from day one but certainly before I did the test I knew it would be positive. In fact with dd1 I had to go and buy the test to see if I was right. As someone else said - the metallic taste gave it away with dd2.

LieselVentouse · 24/08/2007 05:16

yes but then there were other tines before i was pg that i thought "this is definetely it" when it turns out it wasnt

DANCESwithDumbledore · 24/08/2007 06:50

Yes with dd - the infamous 'boobs of fire' situation - man were they sore and heavy!

No with ds - had what I thought was terrible pmt and some stomachache, thought I was due on, took a test but line was so faint I thought it was just an evaporation line and told dh, it's not this month, was really upset. Next day took temp (was charting) and it went up so ran downstairs and did test which came up with a strong positive. Woke DH at 5am by whispering 'I'm pregnant' in his ear. I swear he had NEVER woken up so quickly and completely before and never has since (especially not to the sound of crying children )

mrsmalumbas · 24/08/2007 07:23

With DD1 I did - I had sort of fleeting moments of awareness that "something" was different - swollen boobs, a flash of nausea, really bad insomnia. That is what led me to buy myself a test which I did in the toilets of a ahopping centre in my lunch hour! With DD2 I had absolutely no idea and was merrily taking heavy duty antibiotics for a sinus infection - only bought the test because it suddenly dawned on me I had been carrying tampons around in my bag for when I came on for about three weeks - thankfully she turned out ok but I was worried for a while.

Like other people I sometimes "feel" pregnant even when I turn out not to be though - once I was a week late and then had a very heavy period, unusual for me, ater I did wonder if this was a very early miscarriage.

Last month I really felt pregnant - even nauseous - but knew I could not be - I wasn't, but I was almost on the point of buying a test! I think I know my body pretty well, but I wouldn't rely 100% on feelings.

laurentian · 24/08/2007 12:07

Hi....I knew within the hour of the deed being done!!! Seriously it felt like the whole of my system was pulsing with electricity

scoobysw · 24/08/2007 19:47

I had a dream telling me I had a lump growing in my stomach a few days before I found out that I was pregnant. I was really disappointed when I woke up realising that it had all been a dream.

I think this was caused by wanting to be pregnant, but I did have a feeling that it could be possible, and I was suffering with heartburn.

We had only just decided to start trying and I was pregnant within a week .

MrsTittleMouse · 24/08/2007 21:15

We were TTC for ages and ages, and so I was so neurotically tuned in to every twinge in my body that I'd had several "false alarms". I therefore had no trust at all in the actual thing. Mind you, I was testing before AF was due, so not much time to develop symptoms. Had I not tested until 2 weeks after AF I would have known for certain as I have never felt so blooming sick and tired.

MamaMaiasaura · 24/08/2007 21:40

With ds and this one I knew I had to do a test. Dont know why, just knew in an irrational and emotional way. Didnt eactually think i was either time but knew i had to test so perhaps subconsiously did (also wonder whether prepared myself not to be with this preg and didnt want to be dissapointed).
