Did you know you were pregnant before you did a test?

I've conceived twice and both times I knew from day one. It's really weird, but during the first week when I'm pregnant I get dreams telling me in no uncertain terms that I'm pregnant. Anyone else know by instinct that they were PG?

Me and DH hadn't been trying for to long. Woke up one morning - head spinning like mad, I couldn't get up. Tried 2X but had to lie down again. I couldn't wait to get up and do the test - I was certain I was pregnant! and I was.

theressomethingaboutmarie · 21/08/2007 12:40

Yup. I somehow just knew. We went out the night before and asked for my starter without the blue cheese and had only one glass of wine. My period wasn't late but we were trying to conceive. I knew full well that we were expecting before I took the test. To have my suspicions confirmed was just an amazing feeling.

Lizzzombie · 21/08/2007 12:40

I totally knew, almost straight away. Boobs had grown one or two sizes in the first 2 weeks!

scorpio1 · 21/08/2007 12:41

No, not any of the three times but was ttc, so not a surprise IYSWIM?

Gemy · 21/08/2007 13:15

About a week before my period was due, for both times, this guy at work asked me if I was pregnant. Each time I got all red-faced and said "no!" and each time he was bloody right!

The first time I have implementation bleeding and thought this was period. But, after this lasted 1 day and stopped, I kinda knew something else was going on (and the major PMT I had was still going strong!)

Second one I had all my dates mixed up so really didn't realise I was late when I was. When I did pick up my diary I got a definate lighbulb in head moment and was not surprised to test positive the next day.

Hurlyburly · 21/08/2007 13:18

No. I mean have been pregnant a few times, but the last time with DS I didn't know. I was complaining to DH about how ridiculously tired I felt. After about a week of solid whingeing, he turned around and told me to get a pregnancy test because he was sure I was pregnant. I told him I couldn't be because I had had my periods regularly. I remember telling him quite categorically that "I must have a virus".

Of course he was right all along and I was about 4 months pregnant.

rozzyraspberry · 21/08/2007 13:20

First 2 did a test when period didn't come and was surprised when BFP!

This time had implantation bleeding a week before period due and just knew. Would have been surprised if pregnancy test had come back neg.

yes, no symptoms, but knew.

pipsqueeke · 21/08/2007 13:35

erm yes with ds as I went out the sat prior and spent all of sunday with a stinking hang over - even thou i'd tested neg on the sat and also hadn't drunk much - tues got a v storng bfp.

this time DH asked me 'if it was pmt week or something' to which I said I don't know I think so did a test and was pos.

2 times pre ds - one was test on the off chance the other was a test on the day of AF being due as we'd had an accident with contraception and the MAP. expecting a neg but got a pos (as AF hadn't come)

Pinkchampagne · 21/08/2007 13:39

I had a feeling both times, although was clinging onto hope that I may not have been until taking the test.

MuffinMclay · 21/08/2007 13:51

Yes, both times. A gut feeling.

funnypeculiar · 21/08/2007 13:52

No, didn't have a clue either time.

Roskva · 21/08/2007 13:55

Yes, somehow I just knew. Then my boobs blew up to pmt size way before my period was due. Then I went off coffee - my morning brew made me feel sick. Then I did the test

Guitargirl · 21/08/2007 15:04

I had an inkling but it was actually DP who thought I might be before I did. I tested the day before my period was due as I had spent the week leading up to that absolutely knackered, gone off alcohol (definitely NOT like me ) and feeling sick at the smell of cigarettes. When I was on the train on the way home from work and could smell a man's Burger King chips from the other side of the carriage I decided to buy a test!

Yes, but then again, I suppose if I'd been wrong, I wouldn't say that, iyswim!

ChasingSquirrels · 21/08/2007 15:17

no 1 - no idea
no 2 - yes, from about 5 days before my period was due (but ditto aloha)

mezzer · 21/08/2007 15:20

Yes, I also had a "feeling" and was already starting to get a bit of morning queasiness within a week of becoming preggers.

Mumzarello · 21/08/2007 15:39

Yes 1 week before AF due - lots & lots of weeing (sorry if tmi )

Eaglebird · 21/08/2007 17:35

I didn't know until I did the test. However, even before AF was late I started getting painless migraines (flashing lights but no headache)which lasted only about 10 mins, and were totally different to the banging migraines I usually got before becoming pg.

Initially, at the time, I put them down to a possible allergy to American mustard (we were on hols in the US at the time), as each episode of flashing lights seemed to occur after I'd eaten something with mustard on. Then I got an episode of flashing lights one evening when I hadn't eaten any mustard...
Looking back now, I suspect these painless migraines may have been the first symptom of being pg. Who knows??

weebleswobble · 21/08/2007 17:38

With ds1 I thought something was up when Les Dawson was on "This is Your Life" (we're talking a few years ago) and I cried every time someone came through the doors. That same evening a smell in the lounge was driving me mad. I eventually pinned it down to wet earth in a plant pot.

With ds2 - not a sign until the test.

OrmIrian · 21/08/2007 19:02

I got very weepy too weebles. We went to see Twelve Monkeys at the cinema and I cried because I felt sorry for Bruce Willis 'cos I thought he looked like my DH (only when I was pregnant - beleive me!). In fact I used to weep over everything. Didn't know it first time round but it was a damn good clue second and third time round.
