5 weeks Pregnant

Hi all,

I am only 5 weeks pregnant (due 24th of July) with baby number 2! All went well last pregnancy (appart from horrific morning sickness from 6 - 23 weeks)

I have seen a few old threads with Ladies asking this question but would be nice to have some reassurance from other Mums to be on how terrifying the wait to 12 weeks is!

I'm so scared something goes wrong every time I go to the loo I'm checking for blood and any pains in my abdomen i feel I'm convinced something bad is happening 😭 x

@JackGordonsMummy that sounds like a good sleep!! Definitely must have been needed! Rubbish you are still feeling nauseaous though!

What an exciting scan to have! And also you will get to see everything is well. I still can't decide whether to find out the gender or not. I think I will wait until the 20 week scan then decide from there.

That's lovely you are feeling flutters already! I cant wait to get to that stage. My bump has really popped so I'm hoping I don't have long to wait! Although I know what you mean, I will become obsessed with trying to feel them then panicking when I don't haha.

I had my 16 week midwife appt yesterday (slightly early) all is well but I have slightly low blood pressure which is probably causing my light headed spells and headaches but just said to eat plenty and drink lots of fluids. I'm still feeling quite crampy but hoping that's all normal! I'm just on the countdown to the 20week scan now! X

@JackGordonsMummy oooh how did you get on??? Got mine on Monday! Xx

pottypotamus · 08/02/2020 14:50

Sorry you're still feeling nauseous @JackGordonsMummy
How did you get on with the scan? 😃

@hermionelodge I'm still waiting to feel flutters too. Sometimes feel like I can feel them but I'm fairly sure it's just gas. I was expecting to feel them early this time as this is my 3rd one.

I had my 16 week appt on tues and she listened into baby which settled my mind a bit. Can't wait to start feeling kicks so I can have some peace of mind.

hermionelodge · 08/02/2020 15:40

@pottypotamus hopefully it's not too long for you then. It could well be the flutters already, I have no idea what to expect and did ask my midwife how you differentiate between wind and flutters but she just said as they get stronger I will know. I cant wait! Did you feel them earlier with your second than your first? That's nice the midwife let you listen, my midwife didn't mention that at all! I would have loved to have heard the heartbeat.

pottypotamus · 08/02/2020 16:29

It was earlier with my second, about 17 weeks and about 19/20 weeks with first.

I can only describe it as being poked from the inside Smile very cute. It's the loveliest feeling in the world 💓

JackGordonsMummy · 08/02/2020 20:37

So we got the scan and the balloon my DS popped it and it's a Girl! She was trying to do a forward roll in the scan photo haha!

Yes I had movement maybe about 22 weeks with my 1st I only feel it this time in certain positions but the bigger she gets the more I'll feel!

Can't believe I've got one of each feeling so blessed! Although I'd of been happy with another boy too!

@hermionelodge on still crampy too my blood pressure is always quite low even when I'm not preg not long now till the 20 week scan! It's all going so quickly remember when I first made the chat and you had only just found out! Feels like a life time ago!

@pottypotamus aww it's your 3rd? Amazing! So glad you got to hear the heartbeat we head hers today too was so nice! X

Aww congrats @JackGordonsMummy! Haha you've got a wee little gymnast there! Grin

Yes can't believe the thread started when we were 5 weeks!! I wouldn't believe I was pregnant until I saw the 3+ on the digi because I'd had a CP a couple of months before. Time's flown!

Yes it's my 3rd! I have one of each too! DS is 5 and DD is 21 months. So lovely watching them play together 💕

squirrelnutkins1 · 08/02/2020 21:36

@JackGordonsMummy yay congrats! X

WeeScottishWife · 09/02/2020 07:58

How long did the 16 week appointment last, for those who’ve had them? Mine is on Tuesday.

I can’t wait till movements are enough to differentiate from my normal bubbles, that will be so exciting! First baby though, so it sounds like it could still be a while yet.

hermionelodge · 09/02/2020 10:02

@JackGordonsMummy aww congratulations! How lovely! It's been a run of boys around me lately so it's nice to hear of a wee girl! Its definitely passing much quicker now! It does feel like forever since the beginning of this thread haha!

@WeeScottishWife my appt was only around 15 minutes. She just checked my urine, took my blood pressure, spoke a bit about the whooping cough vaccine and touched on breastfeeding and how important skin to skin is in the first hour the baby is born. Back in again at 23 weeks for the mat b1 cert and to speak more on breastfeeding and complete the baby box forms.

Treacle81 · 09/02/2020 11:11

Hey guys, sorry to crash but can I just ask if you got the flu jab? Thanks

WeeScottishWife · 09/02/2020 11:33

@hermionelodge good to know, thank you!

@Treacle81 I would have done if I was offered it, but no one did! I wasn't sure when it would be offered; I've seen posters saying you can get it, but tbh I've not been concerned enough to ask specifically about it.

Treacle81 · 09/02/2020 12:07

Thanks very much for replying x

hermionelodge · 09/02/2020 12:24

@Treacle81 I was given mine before my 12 week scan. I received a letter about a week before saying i was booked in for 30 mins before my scan appt. Same as my whooping cough, I've to get that 30 mins before my 20 week scan

squirrelnutkins1 · 09/02/2020 13:39

I'd already had mine but it was being offered at my 12 week appointment x

Treacle81 · 09/02/2020 13:41

@hermionelodge thanks for that, I have my appointment on Thurs, should be around 6 weeks so I’ll give them a call tomorrow to check x

Mummy2be20 · 11/02/2020 18:41

Hello everyone 👋 I'm so much more relaxed since I had my early scan but sometimes (not every time) when I cough I get a quick cramp low down in my tummy all the way across.. does anyone else get this? Not sure if it's where I'm sat in a weird position or whether it's when I need a wee. I can't work it out but wondered if anyone gets the same 🙈

hermionelodge · 12/02/2020 22:32

@Mummy2be20 I think that's normal and its just muscle/ligament pain. Theres so much going on ita hard to tell what's what. I'm just over 16 weeks now and having so much different niggles and pains. Hoping it's all just normal. I had stopped stressing so much after my dating scan but I can feel the anxiety starting again and still 4 weeks until my next scan!

Mummy2be20 · 19/02/2020 12:44

How's every one doing?
I have awful lower back and low tummy pains too and a cramp like a trapped nerve too!!
Ugh feel awful. Any advice?

WeeScottishWife · 19/02/2020 21:38

I'm starting to feel uncomfy at nights now - I'm 16 weeks so trying to sleep on my side (when sleeping on my back has been one of my comfortable positions for the last several months) but my stomach/abdomen feels sore with the movement of rolling over from one side to the other. Not looking forward to seeing how that develops as my bump gets bigger! Oh well.

Mummy2be20 · 20/02/2020 18:24

@WeeScottishWife I can't stop eating rubbish!!!
I am having major aversions to veg and stuff, I lost 2 stone before falling pregnant and I'm not really stressing I'm going to be huge when pregnant :(
I've never been majorly over weight- but I am conscious that I don't want to put loads of weight on!!

hermionelodge · 20/02/2020 19:26

I'm having some strong stomach cramps and back pains too. Unfortunately no advise. This one might be tmi but I'm panicking a bit now, is anyone else finding they are feeling more wet? I've had to wear liners pretty much since finding out but this past week its really ramped up and now I'm panicking I'm slowly leaking amniotic fluid or something! Still 2.5weeks until my 20 week scan and its freaking me out. I just dont know how you tell what's normal and what's not.

I'm always just eating everything that's bad. I can feel myself getting bigger and wobblier in my arms and thighs. I want nothing nutritious. Everyone just says oh make the most of it and enjoy but I dont want to be huge and I want the baby to get all the nutrition they can!

squirrelnutkins1 · 21/02/2020 08:48

My appetite has steadied this week so feeling determined to get more fruit and veg into me. I've not got the same hunger pangs that mean I have to eat immediately (and I mean immediately! DH has been very understanding with that one!!) I made some veg soup yesterday and might make another batch later just to make sure little miss is getting nutrients.

I've def had more discharge since being preg and more the last couple of weeks. Think it's normal as long as it's white/clear and isn't offensive smelling. Speak to your midwife if you're concerned tho x

squirrelnutkins1 · 21/02/2020 08:49

Oh and cramps too. From what I've researched it's just round ligament pain so trying not to freak out!

Mummy2be20 · 21/02/2020 09:28

@squirrelnutkins1 how many weeks are you now? I am only 11 weeks so hoping it all calms soon and I can eat strictly fruit and veg haha?
Soup is a good idea!
I have so many cramps, and back ache but I am trying to ignore it
