5 weeks Pregnant

Hi all,

I am only 5 weeks pregnant (due 24th of July) with baby number 2! All went well last pregnancy (appart from horrific morning sickness from 6 - 23 weeks)

I have seen a few old threads with Ladies asking this question but would be nice to have some reassurance from other Mums to be on how terrifying the wait to 12 weeks is!

I'm so scared something goes wrong every time I go to the loo I'm checking for blood and any pains in my abdomen i feel I'm convinced something bad is happening 😭 x

@hermionelodge yeah it’s so hard not to google but just makes it worse. I’m technically 9+6 but when I had scan I was measuring about a week behind but he did say take with pinch of salt and I’ve read that no dates matter until dating scan. So for now I’m going by LMP which was 1st Nov :) How about you? my spotting is also always worse in morning too which is weird and then settles down by eve but they do say you grow most at night so 🤷🏻‍♀️ X

hermionelodge · 09/01/2020 09:55

@Newlands14 it really is as most is negative. And like you say, everyone is different so can't really compare. Yeah I'm the same, I should be 11+2 but going by last scan I am 10+6. Oh I never thought of that either. I just automatically go to the worst and don't think about any logical reasoning! I guess I'm always trying to be prepared for the worst just in case.. I don't think I used to be this negative haha! X

Newlands14 · 09/01/2020 12:02

@hermionelodge yeh my DH is keeping me calm and keeps saying that stress and worry are not going to change any outcome. I’m just taking each day as it comes and keeping everything that crossed that as I haven’t had any heavy bleeding or severe cramping that everything is ok x

pottypotamus · 09/01/2020 12:59

Got my fingers crossed for you guys @hermionelodge @Newlands14

Good luck with the scan tomorrow! @JackGordonsMummy

Mine is next Wednesday and can't come quick enough! I keep counting down the days, I really want to tell people!

JackGordonsMummy · 10/01/2020 11:36

@Jackgordonsmummy what a fab scan picture! So clear! Delighted everything went well for you! I can't wait to reach the same milestone. Are you going to tell people now or still hang off for a while? Xx

JackGordonsMummy · 10/01/2020 12:25

I'm still at the hospital my scan was at 10.05 then I had an appointment booked for 11.15 with a consultation because I've had a lot of health problems this year. (I had swelling in the brain causing double vision.) So they want me to see a consultant instead of a midwife but my Neurologist said pregnancy shouldn't be affected by it! Anyways. I'm still waiting to be seen! It's actually soo busy! I'm working today will be very late Haha!

How are you feeling now? The 21st will be here before you know it! I feel for you it's such a worrying time. I'll probably go back to worrying tomorrow lol.

Yes I'm announcing it now I'm over 12 weeks and saw baby moving around so I'm happy to tell people xx

Hi,

I’ve just in the last few weeks found out I’m pregnant with my first child. I’m a little worried though as I’m getting quite consistent pelvic pain, kind of like period pain and there’s been a few times in the last few weeks where the pain has become quite severe and then dissipated in a few mins. Is this normal?! The nurse on the phone basically indicated that because I’m so early, no one at the hospital will really give me the time of day so I’m hoping someone on here might be able to help! Thanks in advance!

hermionelodge · 10/01/2020 13:06

@JackGordonsMummy oh wow, what a morning! That's a long time to keep you waiting as well! Hopefully everything is ok with you!

The spotting seems to have stopped today. Still crampy but I'm hoping that's just the uterus preparing for some super growth this next week! I know, the reassurance doesn't last long haha. There's always something new to worry about! Xx

@T1diabeticmum congratulations on your pregnancy. I've had a lot of cramping, pulling and stabby type pains since I found out. I believe it's all normal and is the uterus stretching as the baby grows. Try not to panic too much. I know it's a lot easier said than done as I'm the worst for panicking, but there's a lot of growing to be done over these weeks so you should feel some pains. If it helps you can always boom an early reassurance scan, there's lots of clinics that offer this. You're best to go around 8 weeks if this is something you might like to do. X

T1diabeticmum · 10/01/2020 14:01

Awww thanks for the reassurance! All very new to me so that comforting to know!

pottypotamus · 11/01/2020 18:18

So glad your scan went well @JackGordonsMummy Smile

JackGordonsMummy · 11/01/2020 18:23

Thank you! I booked a gender scan for 16 weeks it's on the 8th of feb going to get my DS to pop the balloon with whatever colour (pink or blue) and surprise us!

I'm still feeling pretty crappy and nauseous going to a leaving night tonight for our friends who are off to Australia I really can't be bothered my hair is still wet and we need to leave soon Haha!

How are you all feeling xx

OP posts:
pottypotamus · 11/01/2020 19:19

Oooh that's so exciting @JackGordonsMummy !
Sorry I'm a bit clueless with gender reveals, so at the gender scan, the sonographer won't tell you and DH the gender?
You guys must be so excited!

I had a couple of days of feeling great, but I've gone back to feeling nauseous and crap and general feeling of not really wanting to eat anything. The other night I had a bag of Doritos for dinner Blush

I've also totally gone off tea which I would love to relax with in the evening, so feeling a bit like something is missing every evening.

Only a few days till my scan! Terrified and excited at the same time!!!

JackGordonsMummy · 14/01/2020 07:42

Hey

I've had a constant lower abdominal pain mostly I'm the left side since Saturday also some lower back pain

I'm hoping its round ligament pain but starting to worry!

Should I call EPU or just ride it out.

I've not had any bleeding but feel pretty unwell and in a lot of pain

squirrelnutkins1 · 14/01/2020 13:11

I've been exactly the same. I'm just hoping it's my endometriosis. Let us know what you decide x

pottypotamus · 14/01/2020 13:16

Oh no! Sorry you're not feeling great @JackGordonsMummy
Maybe give EPU a call because it sounds quite uncomfortable and painful from your post.
Even if they say it's fine, it'll hopefully put your mind at rest.

Newlands14 · 14/01/2020 14:53

This is prob TMI so apologies in advance but does anyone else have more bleeding when they have their bowels open? My spotting had eased off last few days- literally nothing but just had my bowels open and we’re back to bright red again 😫

JackGordonsMummy · 14/01/2020 15:07

I called the EPU and they said a midwife will call me back that was at 9am and I'm still waiting for a call!

I called my gp spoke to one over the phone she didn't seem too concerned but did offer to see me but all they can do is dip my urine.

I'm unwell anyway got a sore throat sickness shivers and going hot and cold. So gonna see how I feel again tomorrow if 9 still haven't heard from the midwife.

@squirrelnutkins1 I hope you feel better again soon

@pottypotamus thank you x

@newlands14 I'm sorry u don't have any experience with spotting but maybe call your midwife to be on the safe side x

OP posts:
JackGordonsMummy · 14/01/2020 15:34

I phoned the EPU back they said to go see my GP to make sure I dont have a uti etc and then they can refer me over to EPU. so got to go to the gp at 4.20 and sit and wait to be seen.

pottypotamus · 14/01/2020 15:41

Good luck @JackGordonsMummy
Let us know how you get on x

JackGordonsMummy · 14/01/2020 16:54

Basically said he has no idea what's wrong as my urine is clear and I dont have any bleeding.

So just ride it out unless there is any bleeding then i need to be scanned immediately x

squirrelnutkins1 · 14/01/2020 17:30

Glad there's nothing obvious wrong 🙏🏻 I can't keep up with everyone so can't remb if you have a scan coming up soon? I've got my 12 week on Thursday. I'm trying to be chilled and just thinking EPU wouldn't be able to see me before then anyway so just riding it out too. It's not been as bad today. Yesterday was painful but I had terrible rapped wind as well. Sorry for tmi! Just hoping it's stretching / endo pains @JackGordonsMummy

JackGordonsMummy · 14/01/2020 19:06

Well...( sorry if TMI but just had a really bad stomach and had to run to the loo so hopefully thats been the problem.) Can still feel the pain but it is not as bad!

Oh how exciting!!! Just think 2 more sleeps that's what I was doing last weel with the countdown! I had my scan on Friday they gave me a EDD of the 23rd of July. 1 day ahead of what we thought! Everything looked healthy with me and baby on Friday so hoping it is Just stretching too!

Please let me know how it goes @squirrelnutkins1! Xx
