Hi all,

I am only 5 weeks pregnant (due 24th of July) with baby number 2! All went well last pregnancy (appart from horrific morning sickness from 6 - 23 weeks)

I have seen a few old threads with Ladies asking this question but would be nice to have some reassurance from other Mums to be on how terrifying the wait to 12 weeks is!

I'm so scared something goes wrong every time I go to the loo I'm checking for blood and any pains in my abdomen i feel I'm convinced something bad is happening 😭 x

@JackGordonsMummy so glad to hear the meds are working, and sorry to hear about your papa, hope he gets well soon.

@MiaAnn I’m sorry that’s really worrying for you. I’m not sure what the levels are supposed to be or whether everything can still be fine with low levels. It’s good that your scan showed the sac and all in the right place. When is the second blood test scheduled for?

I had more bleeding when I wiped yesterday. Even after seeing the scan it still freaked me out and I worried all day. It was after a rather difficult poo (sorry tmi!) where I’d had to strain though, and Monday’s was the same thinking about it, so now I’m scared to have a number 2 in case it starts again. My boobs didn’t feel sore at all last night however much I prodded them so I was panicking about that too, but they’re back this morning!

I had midwife on Wednesday. She tried to do the routine blood tests but I have rubbish veins so sent me to the hospital (where it still took 3 people trying). I now have lovely bruises on my arms and hands just in time for wedding photos! She’s put me under consultant care for the pregnancy due to a number of different factors, mostly my age. I also have to start taking extra strength folic acid and aspirin every day. I feel like I’m one big risk factor right now Confused

@JackGordonsMummy
Good to hear the meds are working! How was your Xmas night out?

@MiaAnn
Not sure why doc said that's low, for 5 weeks, it seems pretty normal according to google. The most important thing is that they are increasing by at least 66% every 48 hours I think it is. Have you got another blood test booked in?

@AliasGrape
Sorry to hear you've had more bleeding. Do you think it could be your cervix where the blood is coming from. I know they can get extra sensitive during pregnancy.

I had my booking in appt this morning, all went ok, quicker than I thought. Had bloods and wee sample done. Have to wait for my scan date in the post now 😩
Was hoping they would book it for me there and then.

squirrelnutkins1 · 20/12/2019 21:05

@pottypotamus thank you 😘 it was wiggling about, so cute 💕

MiaAnn · 21/12/2019 00:03

@ AliasGrape the doctor just said Is very low. I can see online that it’s very different how much women produce. I did another test today. I hope it has increased. I was told that my bleeding could be implementation bleeding. The black/brown spotting stopped yesterday, however my breast doesn’t feel sore as they use to. It is very difficult to stay calm and positive. I hope your bleeding has stopped and everything just continues.
I have a scan in two weeks, so hopefully I will see more.

@ pottypotamus the doctor didn’t even have another number to compare it with. If my result hasn’t increased next week then I know that it’s over.

pottypotamus · 21/12/2019 10:51

Got my fingers crossed for you @MiaAnn 🤞🏼

MiaAnn · 23/12/2019 19:40

@Pottypotamus thanks. I got my result from the doctor my HCG level is now 12000. Which is good, but yesterday I suddenly got a sharp pain and then I passed a small black cloth. It left red blood on the tissue paper. I got really scared. Afterwards I didn’t have any pain and only brown discharge. I haven’t had anything since then.

pottypotamus · 23/12/2019 19:59

@MiaAnn glad your hcg results were good. I think you should call the epu about the clot you passed. It's probably nothing but safe to get checked out anyway.

How's everyone else doing? I'm still feeling very nauseous throughout the day. And I've picked up an awful cold which is turning into a cough. It's making my nausea worse. Slightly worried as I haven't had the flu jab Blush

pottypotamus · 25/12/2019 07:50

Merry Christmas everyone 😘

JackGordonsMummy · 26/12/2019 10:05

Morning everyone hope you all had a wonderful Christmas was the firdtsober Christmas I've had in a very long time. Was a lovely day. I'm starting to feel less crappy the nausea is calming down but I am already starting to show. Apparently it happens sooner second time around. I didn't have a bump till 17 weeks last time. This time I'm only 10 weeks x

@JackGordonsMummy Glad you had a good Christmas! We were hosting so have told immediate family which was nice. It was my first christmas having no xmas dinner Envy my nausea isn't bad now but food aversions are still strong, and a roast dinner just sounds yuk. Going to treat myself to a carvery once I'm able to haha.

Wow you're showing already! I've lost a bit of weight so stomach is flatter than usual, so no bump for me yet.

JackGordonsMummy · 05/01/2020 08:50

Hiya @JackGordonsMummy
Happy new yeAr 🥳
I'm 11+1 today. Still feel nauseous but feel likes it's calming down. Still feel exhausted all the time. Had to take dc to a birthday party yesterday and that pretty much took it all out of me.

My scan is next week, also feel like it's dragging! Good luck with your scan on Friday! x

hermionelodge · 08/01/2020 13:32

Happy New Year! I haven't been on this thread in a while, hope you are all doing well.

Good luck with your scans @pottypotamus and @JackGordonsMummy.

I don't have mine until the 21st which is a lifetime it feels. I've been quite crampy the past couple of days and bad back pain started on Sunday. Now spotting brown today and have a heavy feeling down low so completely in panic mode again. Feel like I just can't catch a break to be excited at all, really gets me down. I called epu but because they seen me a couple of weeks ago they won't see me again unless it turns bright red.

Going by lmp I'm 11+1 today but my last scan has me at 10+5.

Sorry to put a downer on the thread, hope your symptoms ease up a bit soon once you reach your 12 weeks.

pottypotamus · 08/01/2020 13:48

Hi @hermionelodge
Really sorry about your spotting, hope it stays away now, fingers crossed! I can imagine it's very demotivating seeing that.
Good luck with your scan too x

babymomma1234 · 08/01/2020 13:49

@JackGordonsMummy I am due 23rd July! Hope you are feeling better now, I'm still having cramps, have had 2 scans and baby is absolutely fine. So i think it is just everything stretching, how are you feeling now?.

hermionelodge · 08/01/2020 14:15

Thanks @pottypotamus. Every time I start to get a bit excited or speak a bit more about being pregnant, something bad seems to happen! I don't know how I will keep distracted until the 21st! Hopefully everything is ok, I feel so attached now! X

JackGordonsMummy · 08/01/2020 22:23

Hi everyone

@hermionelodge so sorry to hear you are spotting again. It must be terrifying. You'd think the EPU would book you in a but earlier at least to reassure you.

I have had back pain and a stitch like feeling above my belly button then like shooting pains from my belly button downward that last a few seconds. I think it's just round ligament pain. As it's my second pregnancy I'm showing already. My mother in law even noticed tonight! I'm 11+5 I didn't show with my first till 15 week.

I've read that with second pregnancies you can feel movement from as little as 12 weeks so I'm hopeful for that to at least reasure me.

Once you can feel baby move it's a relief because you know they're ok.

Everytime I'm going to the loo I'm still wiping checking for blood.

Had my early private scan at 8 weeks and all was well but I'm still so worried something is going to go wrong.

Friday is my 12 week scan it can't come quick enough!

I hope it flies in to the 21st for you!❤

@babymomma1234
@pottypotamus

I'm still feeling terribly nauseous and am being sick bile daily. It does make me feel better for a little while. The only thing that keeps the nausea at bay is eating but its so difficult because I have went off almost everything! Also seem to be getting headaches daily this week! I'm not as ill as I was. I can get up and about but just feel sick constantly roll on the 2nd trimester!

How are you feeling?

Xx

hermionelodge · 09/01/2020 04:41

@JackGordonsMummy thank you. This is the third time I have had red/brown spotting now so it is becoming very stressful. Everything was fine the previous 2 times but that doesn't really anything I suppose. I know, my last scan with them was at 7 weeks so it's not like i was just in. They know themselves that things can change. Never mind, I'm just counting down the days.

Oh wow! That must be nice though having a little bump. I'm just all bloat! Every one must think I've went too far on the Christmas indulgence!

I can't wait to feel the baby move, will probably be ages for me yet. I hope you get your first flutters soon. And it's nice that you know what to look out for so will recognise straight away.

I get so nervous going to the toilet. Always expecting to see the worst! Does that ever go away?? I know, I downloaded the baby centre app and they have a chat board on there and there is so much about mmc's that I have convinced myself that's what I'm having. I never knew about them pre pregnancy and now it's all i seem to be reading. I do myself no favours!

Just one more sleep until your scan! So exciting! Please do update us afterwords. X

Newlands14 · 09/01/2020 07:15

@hermionelodge I too keep getting on/off brown spotting. Had early scan on 30th and all was fine so I’m just trying to be positive as I’m determined to not get stressed or worry to much. I have my first midwife today so hoping she can shed some light. Midwife at my scan was asking if I have ever had abnormal smear which I did a few years back and she said I could have a weakened cervix and with all the changes it’s just irritated. My friend also had spotting throughout her pregnancy and had a healthy baby boy so im really trying to think positive. Try not to google it’s the worst thing you can do. I’m starting to learn that everyones normal is different. ☺️ good luck to those with scans this week X

hermionelodge · 09/01/2020 09:02

Thanks @Newlands14. It is reassuring to hear others have it and are ok. I've had a fair bit more today and my stomach is quite crampy so I just don't know what to think. How far along are you? Ah ok, that seems like a logical explanation. I've never had an abnormal smear but always bleed after them so maybe my cervix is sensitive. I'm a nightmare, I can't seem to stay off Google and I know it's not good for me. I just hate the unknown, id rather just know even if it's bad news. I'm tempted to book another private scan but then also trying not too. Good luck with your appt today, hope you get some good reassurance. X
