Hi all,

I am only 5 weeks pregnant (due 24th of July) with baby number 2! All went well last pregnancy (appart from horrific morning sickness from 6 - 23 weeks)

I have seen a few old threads with Ladies asking this question but would be nice to have some reassurance from other Mums to be on how terrifying the wait to 12 weeks is!

I'm so scared something goes wrong every time I go to the loo I'm checking for blood and any pains in my abdomen i feel I'm convinced something bad is happening 😭 x

So glad your scan was good and healthy 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

pottypotamus · 14/01/2020 19:34

Glad you're feeling better @JackGordonsMummy
Trapped wind can be a bugger! I remember being in agony with it in my first pregnancy.

squirrelnutkins1 · 14/01/2020 20:30

@pottypotamus any tips?? It's soooo painful!

pottypotamus · 14/01/2020 20:47

@squirrelnutkins1
I remember getting on the floor on hands and knees with bum up in the air and slowly raising legs one at a time behind you. Something like that. I looked like a right twat but I remember it helping Blush

squirrelnutkins1 · 14/01/2020 20:49

@pottypotamus thanks! will give it a go next time I'm suffering 🤣 this is just not at all glam is it 🙈

pottypotamus · 14/01/2020 20:56

Haha not at all!! Especially with the DH watching thinking Hmm. My DH knows better than to question any weird things I do in pregnancy 😆

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/01/2020 12:05

All good with the scan 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

AliasGrape · 16/01/2020 13:00

Hello again everyone. I fell off the thread a bit was busy getting married and then Christmas then honeymoon and we had a few more bleeding/spotting incidents so I’ve been a bit of an anxious wreck.

However I went for my 12 week scan today and all was well. So glad to hear the same for you @squirrelnutkins1

I’ve escaped largely without sickness up to now but totally with you on the trapped wind
pain, the burps are also out of control and I’ve had constipation a lot too.
Such a magical time Grin

AliasGrape · 16/01/2020 13:09

How are you feeling now @JackGordonsMummy ?

I was in bed all Saturday with really bad pains in lower abdomen/ into pelvis and in lower back and still getting them on and off but I do think it’s to do with the bowels!

Also @Newlands14 I haven’t had any spotting touch wood for last 2 Weeks but before that it did seem to happen after a poo and googling it seemed to show it was reasonably common. I also spotted after sex (when pregnant but also before) and have always bled after smear tests so I just think my cervix is a bit fragile and bleedy. Doesn’t take away the worry through!

With the constipation I’ve been getting my bottom sometimes has bled a little and then I still panic and have to do 27 extra wipes to check it’s definitely bottom related and not coming from anywhere else!

Honestly I really hope the magical pregnancy bloom starts to kick in soon although I’ve a sneaking suspicion that’s a bit of a myth!

pottypotamus · 16/01/2020 14:51

Glad all went well @squirrelnutkins1 🤗
@AliasGrape good to hear from you as well, congrats on getting married 🥳 good to hear your scan was all good too!!

Newlands14 · 16/01/2020 15:35

@AliasGrape yeah mine is always worse with a BM. My spotting has been pretty constant since I found out so I’m just thinking this is normal for me as my scan 2 weeks ago was all fine as nothing has changed since then. How far along are you as I’ve heard it does calm down as you approach 12 weeks?

Glad all went well @squirrelnutkins1 x

AliasGrape · 16/01/2020 16:04

@Newlands14
I’m 12 weeks today according to dating scan and that was definitely my experience that it calmed down from about 10 weeks on. How far along are you?

Newlands14 · 16/01/2020 16:20

@aliasgrape I’m 9 weeks so fingers crossed it settles down soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻X

JackGordonsMummy · 16/01/2020 17:16

Aww congratulations @AliasGrape on getting Married and your Scab what EDD did you get?

So happy your Scan went well @squirrelnutkins1 what's your EDD?

I'm 13 weeks today still no sign of the nausea going away!

The stomach pains moved from my lower abdomen to my upper abdomen yesterday and today they are basically gone so I guess it was just stretching who knows just wish I would hurry up and feel movement so I know baby is ok without panicking xx

I'm 13 weeks today too @JackGordonsMummy !Grin Snap! My scan yesterday put me 2 days ahead. EDD 23rd July.

I know how you feel re: the movements. Would love to start feeling bubs move. I've got my first bout of heart burn and reflux right now Sad
I remember it from my previous pregnancies but don't remember it starting so early. It was about 25 weeks last time. So uncomfortable!

JackGordonsMummy · 16/01/2020 20:13

Brilliant @pottypotamus Exact same due date as me!

I know just think it will be so reassuring when the movement begins!

Oh no I had terrible heartburn with my DS he came out with a head full of dark hair aswell!

Go get yourself a big bottle of gaviscon and take it with you at all time Haha! Hopefully it settles soon x

Congratulations on the scans @squirrelnutkins1 @AliasGrape and @pottypotamus Also congratulations on your wedding Alias!

Sorry to hear you are still having nausea @JackGordonsMummy what a nightmare! Doesn't seem fair once you get past the 12 week Mark! Hopefully it eases soon!

pottypotamus · 16/01/2020 21:30

@JackGordonsMummy
Top of shopping list is Gaviscon! Although I can't stand the stuff!

@hermionelodge thank you Smile
How are you doing?

hermionelodge · 16/01/2020 21:55

@pottypotamus I'm doing ok thanks. I haven't had any more spotting so that's a relief. I'm just patiently waiting for my scan on Tuesday... I'm still very anxious about it but trying to not to let it get to me. I can't change the outcome so I just need to be positive. Going by lmp I should be 12+3 today and my lower belly seems to have popped a bit already although I am still bloated but I'm hoping that's a good sign . I don't have much symptoms and haven't really had any throughout so I don't have much to reassure myself with other than positive thinking

squirrelnutkins1 · 17/01/2020 04:21

@JackGordonsMummy 26th July x

I'm awake with bellyache and nausea, feels like more trapped wind 🙄

Mummy2be20 · 17/01/2020 12:00

Hi everyone,
I found out last weekend that after over 2 years of trying to conceive our first baby and we have finally done it yay.
Although I am now a nervous wreck. I am about 6 weeks pregnant and have lots of signs and symptoms already which I was shocked about!!
I have a lot of tummy ache and back ache and and lower tummy pain. I done some research and most sites say it’s normal but some obviously point out other factors such as ectopic pregnancy etc. I am so worried about this and am finding it hard to be happy when I constantly worry at every ache, cramp or pinch!!
The dr said unless I’m bent over in agony or bleeding then not to worry but I just can’t help my self.
Any advice, help or reassurance would be greatly appreciated

pottypotamus · 17/01/2020 13:00

Hello @Mummy2be20
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I know exactly how you feel. I am now 13 weeks but because of previous mc I've been extremely nervous straight after getting a positive test!

Just take each day at a time and try not to google too much. Easier said than done I know. Also if you can find an affordable one around you, maybe book an early reassurance scan for piece of mind.

Mummy2be20 · 17/01/2020 14:28

Thank you for your response @pottypotamus !!
It's so hard not to google everything as I'm sure your aware. I also had a miscarriage, exactly this time last year!! (I didn't know I was pregnant until I did a test and it was too late)

I may have to have a look at the early scan options, I have a midwife appointment in a week on Monday as they are trying to get my first two appointments done before I go away the second week in feb so I may ask about an early scan when I see her.

I hope these cramps and aches are normal? I constantly check for blood every time I go to the loo which seems to be a very common thing to do early on. My cramps are low down and my tummy hasn't felt right in a couple of weeks. Like I said before,every niggle, cramp, ache or twinge panics me. Breasts are so so sore and I can not stop weeing!! Nightmare and it's so early on haha.

hermionelodge · 17/01/2020 16:51

Congratulations @Mummy2be20. From my experience, the pains are normal. I've had cramps most of the time and stabby pains and twinges. Also had back ache quite early on which then disappeared and came back with a vengeance at 10 weeks!

The anxiety is awful. I've been a wreck since I found out. I haven't allowed myself to get excited or talk too much about the future with my partner. I have my 12 week scan on Tuesday, I should actually be 13 weeks then, and I'm hoping I can then relax a bit and enjoy it.

I hope everything goes well for you, try not too stress too much. And I would also recommend a private scan just to put your mind at ease.

Mummy2be20 · 17/01/2020 19:04

@hermionelodge thank you!!
I can't stop worrying, seems very common. I have horrible back ache today and pains that feel like period pains. I'm sure it's just stretching and things but dr is checking for a UTI just to be sure!! No one warns you of these awful early symptoms!!!!

I have a week Monday to wait for my midwife appointment and I'm hoping that it will all be ok until them. I don't want to be a nuisance to them!!

I think I will look in to early scans or even speak to the dr. I don't know why I have ectopic pregnancy stuck in my head!!!! I can't wait to have clarification just to put my mind at slight ease!!
