Baby wipes?!

Just wondering..
I need to get some more nappies and wipes in ready for when little one arrives. What brand wipes did people use on their newborns?
I was going to get water wipes but they're quite pricey! Any suggestions?!?

Washable wipes - you can buy them new or just cut up an old towel or fleece.
Naty nappies are a good disposable alternative to reusables.

I've just bought reusable wipes from Cheeky Wipes. 20% off at the minute too with choice birthday11. Worked out around £50 for 50 wipes and all the kit to go with them

We went with water wipes for DS - his big sister came out in a rash with every other wipe around so we're not chancing it. I order a bulk box off Amazon every month, and that brings it down to reasonable.

Lidl newborns nappies though, only things that didn't leak on my long skinny baby and they go through them at a rate of knots.

Aldi do their own version of water wipes but much cheaper. Used those for the first few weeks then switched to reusable wipes.

I've 5 kids and have only used cotton wool and warm water until they were all 6 weeks old, wipes are cold on their little bottoms. I only used wipes when I was out and even then I used to run them under warm water before using them.

We bought huggies wipes, they’re really dry so used loads to clean a poo, pampers brought him out in a rash once they changed the packaging, don’t mind dove ones just since he’s had eczema we’ve only used water wipes. There’s nearly only water so it’s less likely for a reaction/flare up with him and they’re really wet so I can do a decent sized nappy with 3 max.

I keep meaning to stock up on pound shop face/baby cloths n just keep them in a tub of water as he only goes once a day now it’d really not add loads of washing.. previously he exploded through every outfit several times a day so I’d have needed loads of cloth wipes/a mid day wash

First DD I used cotton wool and water, then aldi's own wipes which were 50p a pack (no way was I spending £2 a pack on water wipes! - it they're 99% water why are they so expensive??)

This time round we will be using washable wipes from cheeky wipes. More effective, environmentally friendly and work out much cheaper in the long run.

We use Tesco wipes.

I really wish I’d invested in the washables though. I wouldn’t go near reuseable nappies (found them v confusing), but the wipes are a good way to reduce the environmental impact. They would also be much more efficient at cleaning - a nappy change that might need 6-8 wipes would be managed with one or two washables.

The dc are 2 and 7 months now though, so I think that ship has sailed for us in terms of getting really good value out of a set of washables.

Washable wipes are so much better at dealing with the poo.

Cotton wool and wayer for the first year a ds1 only ever got a sore bum if I used wipes. The Sainsbury. They are wetter than most others.

Use them for faces, hands, everywhere and everything. Buy a set and try, you don't need the fancy boxes etc. Just damp as you need. It'll cost about a tenner. You'll definitely spend more than that on disposables and you aren't causing as much environmental damage.

Buy reusable, 24 (2 packs of 12, 12 for top, 12 for bottom) got me through two kids and ended up as dolly nappies! Ditto nappies (though wait until after the newborn size because they outgrow them in in 2-3 weeks)

I’ve loved Cheeky Wipes.

Cloth wipes at home, Water Wipes when out and about.

Cotton wool for the first week then discovered cheeky wipes! Spent about £30 on 50 wipes which will do forever and a single pack of water wipes has lasted 3 months in the nappy bag for emergencies!

Teacher I am very very tempted! The number of times I’ve been on the cheeky Wipes website and added the starter kit to my cart, only for the voice inside my head to say “You can’t pay £45 for arse cloths” is immeasurable.

Cloth wipes and cotton woo0l for early days. AS baby gets older disposable wipes are good for out and about but get most basic you can freee from all the additives. And continue cloth wipes. (sooo much better.)

Didn't use wet wipes until DS was about 1 month and used Aldi since. They seem to be okay.

I'd bin off the tub as I wet as required and shove them straight in the washing machine. They're stored dry in a pile under the sink. They are the best easiest eco substitute going.

Reusables are so much more effective than disposables. You can do with one reusable what you would take four or five disposables to do. I had to use disposables in a pinch the other day and the amount of smearing drove me mad!

We've used loads with DS (hes 2 ready for potty training now).

Water wipes we used for the best part of a year or more. I think I used one for wee and 2/3 for poos (depending not a poo explosion). They are a really good wipe, very wet too. Cons with those though are they are very pricey (Costco would sell them 22 quid for 12 pack).

Huggees water wipes are what we use now (if I can get them), not as wet as the actual water wipes but I can get away with doing the same but 4 for a poo.

We also use Aldi Mamia, they're really reasonable, we buy the boxes when I can't get Huggees. They're OK wet wise, same as Huggees above but way more cheaper.

If DH will let me I want to get Cheeky wipes for baby number 2 as he wouldn't do it with first. If I had to choose I'd probably stick with Mamia for value and we've never had rashes or any problems.

I think we spent so much on water wipes I could of bought cheeky wipe kits over and bloody over :/.
