im not having a nucual fold done, im 27 so the chances for my age group are very low. not having the blood tests either as feel that terminating would not be an option for us.

scan is just a viability one but hopefully with lots of pics as its private

mom- im only beating it to you by one day, i bet one of us (or both) get our dates changed but we'll still have to be bump buddies

fettleandminifettle · 10/09/2007 14:37

Firstly Feedmenow - congratulations!! try and focus on the fact that your scan showed a healthy and well baby for the time being - don't try and prempt any other worries by scouring the internet. Having said that I'm the worse at searching high and low whenever I have any ache the pain!, so I can't really give you advice like that! I just don't want you worrying unnecessarily, if you don't need to. I don't know anything about nuchal fold scans and triple tests I'm afraid - DH and I decided not to have them with either of our pregancies that got this far. Hope everything is ok!. xxx

Spugs - my scan wasn't until I was over 14 weeks either. Not that that is any conciliation to you! I'd had one around 8 weeks due to some spotting, I'd had earlier. Good on you booking a private scan - reassurance is what you really need at this stage. Heard great things about the RVI - I had the option of having DD there, but from where we lived at the time, Durham was the easier option, especially as DH worked in Durham and we were very pleased with the care there.

Anyway - must go and enjoy some of this sunshine, in case I'm in hospital for a while.

take care all

Glad your scan was good FMN but step away from the Search Engine! Try not to worry about the results until you get them back, I don't think the measurement alone is enough to cause concern. I did not have Nuchal done but my blood results were with me within a week so hopefully yours will be too!
Spugs at your hospital! 14.5 weeks is far to long IMHO to wait for your first scan. At least though you will have a nice one this week and another one in a couple more weeks . As for dates changing, here they only change your actual due date if the scan puts you more than 7 days different to your LMP. On some of my records my due date is still 24th December (LMP) but on others it is 27th December (scan). I am going with 27th as it is closer to the date I worked out from my OV date.
Seem to be getting a few BH contractions today, definitely had one a week or so ago (it woke me up) but had 2 in the last 20 mins today - anyone else get/getting them this early (24+4)? Don't think I had them before 30 weeks with DS2 and not until the last week or so with DS1.

spugs · 10/09/2007 14:44

i think you can get them from 16 weeks, i had them from about the same as you with dd2.

Glimmer · 10/09/2007 14:52

Feedmenow -- congrats to your scan! So good that you could see a healthy baby! I second that it's best if you can wait until the bloods are back (mine lowered the chances fron the NT alone considerably!!!). I am like Fettle and cannot help but google medical information. I have learned that the thickness alone is not
an indicator -- it depends also on the crown?rump length,

Spugs -- how annoying. I think you did the right thing by scheduling a private scan!

Feedmenow · 10/09/2007 16:20

OK, am feeling better already. I know I need to wait and so I'll just enjoy my happy feeling of bubba being OK, and refuse to let myself worry until I actually have something to worry about!! I did have a little think about whether or not I'd go for amnio if I am high risk and have decided I won't even consider it unless the odds are worse than the odds of mc from amnio. So no more worry from me, only happy stuff (for the time being, at least )

It actually feels quite weird now as I am now happy for all and sundry to know about the pg. My daughter is telling everyone she comes across and all her little friends start grinning from ear to ear!

Spugs, private scans are def worth the money! What time on Wednesday?

Mumpbump · 10/09/2007 16:24

Bummer - just rang back for my blood test results and have to go back for more on Wednesday morning... Apparently, it's something to do with my liver so might be joining Fettle on the OC watch... I really thought I was going to get an all-clear!

Feedmenow · 10/09/2007 16:43

Mump, what a pain! I don't know much at all about OC but I never realised that it was something you could get this early on!

fettleandminifettle · 10/09/2007 16:46

Oh Mumpy, I'm so sorry to hear that - join the club. It's pretty rare though, so we are special!!

If you have any questions ask - I had OC when pg with DD, so been through it all before - thank goodness this time it's started later - the itching started at 31 weeks with DD. We could start another thread if you'd rather!

At least it sounds as if your hospital are aware of it and are going to monitor you - prepare to feel like a pin cushion though!

Take care
xx

gingercat12 · 10/09/2007 16:47

Spugs Although I was at the RVI on the NHS, it was great. My only worry is that because most hospitals changed to MW-led in August, almost everybody in the conurbanation will be forced to give birth there. I can see myself giving birth in the car park

fettleandminifettle · 10/09/2007 16:49

Crossed with you Feedmenow - OC generally appears in the 3rd trimester as it is to do with how your liver metabolises the extra oestrogen produced during the 3rd trimester - however it can start much earlier on - sometimes even at the start of the 2nd trimester, but I don't think that's very common (although the whole condition is pretty rare).

Very good patient support websites about it - but obviously have the normal scary bits to them that you have to ignore. Best official advice is on a link in another thread I posted on yesterday - call Obstetric Cholestasis, generalised itching or just hands and feet? Not very good at linking stuff, or else I'd try!!

take care

Feedmenow · 11/09/2007 09:57

ejt, are you around? I just wanted to ask you how many weeks you were when you got your vbac hypnobirthing cd? Is there a suggested time to start using it, or is it just whenever?

ejt1764 · 11/09/2007 10:27

hi feedmenow ... just had a look at threads I'm on, and spotted my name!

I already had it when I got pg this time, as I was sent it by a friend for my last pg.

The one I have consists of 2 discs - disc 1 is called "letting go", and I think they say to start using from about 16 weeks if you want.

The second disc is called "birth preparation" ... and you start using it from about 32 weeks.

You're welcome to borrow them if you want ... send me your address (my email is eirian dot thomas at gmail dot com) (preferably after I've had the baby ), and I'll send them to you!

Hi to everybody else ... havne't actually caught up with other posts!

Am going to see consultant again this afternoon - he is in today, so I need the image of you ladies following me (as in the Lords of the Rings army!!) to give me support!

Update later!

becklespeckle · 11/09/2007 10:53

Good luck with your appointment Ejt - I have my virtual [insert LOTR style weapon of choice here] in hand and am sending my support to you!

Mumpbump · 11/09/2007 10:55

Morning all! Bad night in our household. Started off well with dh getting home earlyish so I could go to bed at 8pm. Then ds woke up at 1:30 and again at 2:30 and would not settle properly. After 1.5 hours of getting up every 5 minutes or so, I lost my temper with him and wound up shouting at him - poor little thing was terrified and obviously wouldn't settle after that! So poor dh got up with him until about 6:30 this morning...

Feeling really bad about it, but I'm so knackered all the time and feeling quite stressed about how things are now developing with this pg. I was SO hoping for a straight-forward end to this one after all the worry of being pg after m/c and then the anaemia.

FMN - I was 37 weeks yesterday, so for me the OC (if that is what it is) is a very late development.

Fettle - thanks for your offer of info - I might take you up on it depending on what happens with the next lot of bloods. At the moment, I'm just trying to sit tight and hope that I'm just worrying for nothing.

Emmsy - sorry to hear that you're still bleeding. I hope things are okay!

Feedmenow · 11/09/2007 13:05

Ejt, that would be great, thanks! Will email you later with my details. I'm more than happy to wait til you have definately finished needing it!!
As for your Lord of The Rings posse, am I allowed to bring my virtual axe, and can I feel free to drool and snort to my hearts content? At least my excessive pregnancy hair growth on legs and bikini line will make me look the part!!

Anywone got any ideas where Mrsmc is? She hasn't been on since Friday.....

Emmsy, any update?

Mump, sorry to hear about your crappy night. And just when you could be doing with as much rest as possible!

fettleandminifettle · 11/09/2007 13:09

Hi girls

Ejt - larged bellied supporting officer reporting for duty!!! Sure it will all go fine this afternoon - just remember what the MW said last week.

well, as you'll be able to tell I wasn't admitted today thank goodnes!! My liver enzymes are still up, but not as much as last time. Doctor did an internal, but my cervix is nowhere near ready, so I'm booked for an induction next Tuesday, when i'll be 38+3. I have to go for baby-monitoring and blood tests every other day between now and then and if anything changes in them, or my iching becomes worse then I'll be induced sooner! Feel relieved, but a bit deflated, was all psyched up for things happening today, or at least towards the end of this week, but now we've more time to make sure we're really ready!

Mumpy - hope it is nothing in your case! Don't worry too much about DS - I've had some awful moments with DD recently and she hates it when I shout, as I so rarely do it, but you're under a lot more stress than usual at the moment. He'll be absolutely fine - just make sure you give him extra big cuddles today and that he knows that you love him! DD's attitude culminated last Friday with the worst tantrum I have ever seen (on top of someone's grave in the Church Yard, which was a bit embarrassing hopefully whoever it was, loved children and understood!), closely followed when we got home by an amazing wee accident (she's been dry for well over a year now!). We had a long chat and she admitted she was scared about the baby coming and then I realised she thought we wouldn't love her as much when new baby came around - she's only 3! where do they get these ideas from? Once we'd reassured her on that front - her behaviour has changed completely, back to the little angel (with tired, emotional moments as expected!!) she normally is - thank goodness!!

Emsy - hope you're doing ok today? Anyone know what time her scan was?

Take care everyone - going to take advantage of this extra time I wasn't expecting and go and have a lie-down before picking up DD from school later.

fettleandminifettle · 11/09/2007 13:10

crossed with you Feedmenow - heard from MrsMc on another thread - all well with her. i'm sure she'll be on here soon.

take care

Mumpbump · 11/09/2007 13:15

Thanks Fettle and FMN...

Fettle - looks like you're going to be the next graduate in all likelihood! How exciting! I can imagine it's a bit of an anticlimax, but as you say, at least you've got the weekend to get ready. Might try having a similar chat with ds about the new baby. Think he knows it's on its way and he understands an awful lot of what we tell him so it can't do any harm. In fact, dh and I are thinking of moving his cot back into our room since he does seem to be suffering from separation anxiety quite badly at the moment...

EllieG · 11/09/2007 13:55

Fettle - your LO sounds sweet - really nice that she was able to tell you she was scared, not many 3 year olds could articulate that. What a lovely mummy you are.

Hello to everyone, hope all OK.

Hey to Emmsy x

MrsMcJnr · 11/09/2007 14:38

Hey ladies sorry for being AWOL, here to catch up now, hope you are all ok.

Emmsy · 11/09/2007 14:58

Hi all,
I had my scan this morning, and as I had expected, I have had another "complete" M/C.
The lady who did my scan asked if I was sure of my dates, I wish I wasn't!
They did a pregnancy test and it still showed positive but they said that was to be expected! I don't need a ERPC (or D&C as it used to be known) and was told that my womb looks healthy and the lining looked smooth?
She said my body has done an excellent job of ridding everything! Good old body hey
She said I can try again when I want to and that they prefer to leave it until you have had one normal period to give your hormones a chance to get back to normal. I was told by a nurse that one of the hosp consultants (after researching it)now prescribes 5MG of Folic acid to his women who have had recurrent miscarriages, but you can only get it on prescription. (I have a phone consultation booked with my GP for friday to ask him if he can prescribe it for me!)The folic acid you buy Over the counter is only 400 micrograms? you would need to have about 12 of them aday! I have just ordered some ovulation tests from the internet, not that I really need them as I chart. Anyway girls good luck with your pregnancies, I will be back when I can get pregnant again, I'm not giving up just yet! Goodcatholicgirl take care and though I feel sad that I can't go to the finishing line with you, I sincerely wish you a happy healthy babyI'm going to have lots of alcohol tonight!
