That's good news uki x

MrsMcJnr · 03/09/2007 09:39

Fab news Uki, so pleased

fettleandminifettle · 03/09/2007 09:45

Great news, Uki Hope life gets bit more like normal now! [as much as it can with a newborn!]

Hope everyone had good weekends - I had to go for a quick check-up yesterday as I started itching badly on Saturday evening, which could be a sign that I've got obstetric cholestasis again. Thought I'd been lucky, but as I'm not itching so badly today, I'm hoping it is a false alarm - blood test results tomorrow will confirm either way, when I go for another CTG to check-up on baby.

Take care all

Goodness! You ladies have been very chatty over the w/end. I am despairing of never being able to catch up with everyone's posts

I'm 13 weeks today . Can't believe I've got this far this time. We are very pleased and relieved. My MS symptoms seems to ease off slightly but not gone completely. Heartburn seems to have calmed down too, which is very good news. If only I can ease my chronic pain slightly....

feedmenow, was meaning to see Knocked Up on Sat but didn't feel up to it as was very tired. Probably lack of sleep due to the pain. Anyway, glad to hear it was a good film.

oinker, I'm so sorry to read about your FIL and BF. Regarding your BF, you have to do waht's best for you and I'm sure she'll understands. It's really tough for you. Hope you are feeling ok.

uki, great news on the breast u/s. Hopefully they'll be able to give you the all clear.

Hello to mrsmc, bouncingturtle, ejt, ellie, beckle and everyone else that I've missed out. x

Mumpbump · 03/09/2007 11:17

Morning all! Will have to be quite quick and try to post more later...

Uki - likewise, very pleased to hear that the lump you can feel is nothing to worry about. My mum has quite a few fatty lumps which are similarly nothing dodgy, so perhaps it's something like that?

Oinker - so sorry to hear about your FIL and BF and the hospital. I agree that you need to prioritise yourself at this point in time. I am sure stress is not good for the baby. Hope things get better for you soon...

Fettle - what exercise ball? Having said that, we had our home risk assessment for the home birth yesterday and I do remember sitting on an exercise ball in the hospital quite a bit in my labour with ds so I have said to dh we might need to get one if we really are going to have this one at home! He's worrying about the mattress and bed linen and seems to have forgotten that last time, I couldn't stand laying down at all!

MrsMcJnr - you are a VERY brave woman. We had one of ds' friends from nursery around with his parents and it was enough of a shock to have two toddlers in the house... Same goes for EJT who sounds particularly mad for taking on those numbers. Still, I guess if you work with children, maybe you can cope better than me!!!

Beckle - m/w seems completely unfussed by the baby being back-to-back. She said it is not uncommon and most of them turn in labour. I have one friend who had a 40 hour labour in hospital with a B2B first baby and another who had a 12 hour labour at home with a B2B third baby. Hoping if it comes to it, I'll be more like the latter, obviously...

Hello to everyone else! Bought some new baby nappies at the weekend which makes it all seem even more real! Looking forward to joining Firststar, Daisy and Uki on the postnatal thread within the next few weeks!!

MerlinsBeard · 03/09/2007 11:53

just signing myself in after the w/e. been a v busy one and am still feeling thwe effects! Still no bleeding (phew!)

dolly1 · 03/09/2007 13:04

Hi Ladies
just a quick post to say that I had another scan this morning with a lovely female sonographer (much prefer dealing with women but maybe that's just me) and she said all is fine.
The yolk sac is still 6mm so hasn't grwon and she said she's expect yolk sac to be 5mm anyway at 7weeks and the baby has grown and has a strong heart beat so I shouldn't worry. She said I should never have been told about the large yolk sac in the first place.
Going back to see her again next week just because I find it so reassuring. Of course we aren't out of the woods yet - but then no one is at 7 weeks. Feel we have just been given normal odds again which is all I could hope for.

It was a very fraught weekend but I'm feeling much better now.
Thanks so much for all your support. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

One of the main reasons I'm posting all of this is just in case someone else ever has this problem in future and happens to find this when searching through the threads. There is hardly anything on large yolk sacs out there apart from terrifying studies on the internet.

Anway, hope you are all well.

x

MerlinsBeard · 03/09/2007 14:07

Doly, am so pleased thingsw ent well today. YAY for baby growing and showing you his beating heart

Bouncingturtle · 03/09/2007 14:24

Dolly1 -I'm glad you got a sensible sonographer - hope you feel much better not - sounds like beanie is doing ok!
Fettle - poor you with tichies - hope it turns out to be nothing serious
UKI - yes have been stocking up
MrsMc - you were brave indeed
Hello to everyone else, hope for a good week for everyone!

MrsMcJnr · 03/09/2007 14:26

Dolly, that's fab please tell me you have complained though!

Hey everyone else, back later

AnguaVonUberwald · 03/09/2007 14:49

Had my scan on Friday. The little one was in fine form, kicking, waving arms around though was very difficult about showing neck to measure nucal fold. Eventually measured it, but then found out baby isn't big enough yet so have to go back this week. Can't say I mind as it means we get another picture, and makes me feel better to see it at 12 weeks (it was 11 on friday).

Can't believe the littleone was there and moving around happily, burst in to tears when we got out - definatly in the "hormonal" stage of this pregnancy.

fettleandminifettle · 03/09/2007 14:51

Dolly - that's great news! Still can't believe your treatment last week. Glad you've got another scan next week, as reassurance is fantastic in these early few weeks.

Mump - get a ball - they're so comfortable to sit on and you can use it for exercise afterwards. Actually after birth, our ball came into its own when DD had colic/gastric reflux and the only way to stop her crying was to walk with her - she'd notice as soon as you sat down, until I discovered that sitting on the exercise ball obviously gave her enough movement to convince her that she was being walked and it saved my energy!! To put it into perspective, she screamed from the moment she woke up, until the moment she went to bed everyday for about 7 weeks from 6-13 weeks - pretty tiring at the time, I seem to remember! Hence why I love exercise balls!!!

I also bought baby nappies, breast pads, maternity pads and bottle teats, if for some reason breast-feeding doesn't work, at the weekend - suddenly seeming a bit nearer. If I do have cholestasis again - I may be induced at 38 weeks, which isn't that long away now!!

take care all
love Grande Dame Itchy!!

sorry crossed with you Angua- congrats on your good scan. Hope you enjoy next week's too!

Mumpbump · 03/09/2007 15:29

Dolly - very pleased to hear your news. If I were you, I would still complain though! Otherwise, he will carry on being equally insensitive with other mums to be!

Angua - great news on your scan! It is so amazing to see them waving their little limbs around isn't it?

Fettle - out of interest, where do you get those exercise balls? I had a couple of weeks when ds was really young walking around, rocking him to sleep - absolutely killed my back so I had to stop, but perhaps bouncing on an exercise ball might do the trick if this one is anything like him!! I can always pass it on to my sister who is a fitness fanatic anyway...

Mumpbump · 03/09/2007 15:29

PS - Fettle - like your title, although I sincerely hope it isn't CO - can't spell it!!

fettleandminifettle · 03/09/2007 15:38

Mump - I got mine from Boots - but I think you can get them from any sports shop or probably internet store like amazon.

Off for some homemade (ok so part-baked, but still smell nice!!) cookies and tea - think I'm going to enjoy my mat leave!!

MrsMcJnr · 03/09/2007 15:41

Fettle ? fingers crossed for the all clear for you tomorrow .

My1stbaby ? yay 13 weeks

Mumpbump I got one of those balls from Tesco and have hardly used it for its proper purpose ? must get it out of the garage to sit on at night DH was being sweet with the kids yesterday, playing with them and changing nappies ? he?s going to be such a great Daddy

Just remembered, my hospital clothes the babies so I don?t need anything clothes wise for the baby other than clothes to go home in! One of my friends told me that she was frightened of the neds in the other beds in the hospital and that she thought they were eyeing up her stuff and her baby ? she felt threatened ? same hospital as me too!

MOM ? healthy and well

Hey Bouncing

Angua ? that?s fab news hon and a bonus that you get to see it again soon too!

Feedmenow · 03/09/2007 16:02

Mrsmc, are you saying the hospital provides vests/sleepsuits, etc while you are in there?!? Isn't that rather unusual? Do they also provide the nappies, etc?

Angua, fab news! I have my 12 week scan next Monday. Although I have seen bubba at 8+6 and 9+5 I am still anxious. Just want the magic 12 week marker to come along safely. Did they confirm your due date for you? Only on the stats you have a different due date to me, but we are exactly the same gestation......

Dolly, that is wonderful! You must feel so relieved. Lets just hope that was the only "glitch" you have the whole of your pg!!

Fettle, sorry to hear about the OC. How does it get managed from now on then? Do you mind if you have to be induced at 38 weeks?

Re. balls, my SIL got one (I think from somewhere like Tesco as much cheaper than sports shop) and used it loads. It is probably coincidence, but she managed her labour really, really well with only TENS and gas and air. And this was her first baby, so I think it was bluddy good going! I'll definately be getting one in a couple of months as it is meant to be really good for opening pelvis and baby positioning.

Hope everyone else is not around cos they are feeling so happy and positive (healthy & well, healthy & well)...

Springflower · 03/09/2007 16:02

Thanks to everyone for their best wishes and especially to Becklespeckle. We did have tests after the first 2 miscarriages which were all clear although I dont know what the tests were for. I am 42 though and think its maybe just age - the stats they had at the hospital for my age and history were 48% chance of a positive outcome and I'm not sure that I want to put myself through more. I also think my pelvic floor has had enough so I'm just going to put my feet up and relax now! Thanks again.

MrsMcJnr · 03/09/2007 16:07

Feedmenow ? yup, all clothes provided but if you bring your own you have to wash them, seems fair enough. Nappies aren?t included.

Sending you lots of hugs and strength Springflower x

fettleandminifettle · 03/09/2007 16:17

Excuse my ignorance, Mrs - what is a ned? Sounds scary? Hope my hospital isn't like that!! I can't remember what we dressed DD in in hospital - she was just in a nappy and swaddled the first night and then she developed jaundice, so was naked for 3 days, poor girl under a UV light!

Thanks, Feedmenow - if I have OC, baby will be monitored twice-weekly and I'll have twice-weekly blood tests to measure liver enzymes and bile acid levels. Last time, I was given treatment with ursodeoycholic acid to try and reduce the bile acid concentration and vitamin K, as you are increased risk of haemorrhage, particularly during delivery. There is an increased risk of stillbirth, fetal distress etc after 37-38 weeks, so more than happy to be induced at 38 weeks, if I do have it! With DD, I was induced at 36 weeks, as my liver enzymes were going sky-high and I was a nervous wreck with worry about her, everytime she didn't move for more than an hour!! Anyway, hopefully it will be ok this time!

DD wants to play games, so better go now.

Cookies were very yummy - eaten too many though!!!

MrsMcJnr · 03/09/2007 16:22

must be a Scottish term ? god bless Wikepedia:

"Ned is a derogatory term applied to certain young people in Scotland (similar to the terms chav used in Wales and England, skanger in Ireland, and spide in Northern Ireland). The stereotypical view of a ned is a white adolescent male, of working class background, who wears fake Burberry, who engages in hooliganism, petty criminality, loutish behaviour, underage drinking and smoking or general anti-social behaviour[1]. They are often assumed to be unemployed."

Hilarious, there is even a photo of what a ned looks like!

So hope you don?t have OC, sounds horrible.

gingercat12 · 03/09/2007 16:39

Am so happy about the scans. Congratulations!

Sorry I was not in the forum, but we had VIPs in the building, and had to tidy up the office a little bit. There was also free tea, coffee and cakes, and a string quartet, which kept me busy all day

fettleandminifettle · 03/09/2007 16:47

gingercat - sounds like an exciting day!!

Mrs - now I know the term "chav", I should well imagine that where I live, my hospital could well be full of them!!! Now whether i'm one or not, I'll leave to you imagination!!!

I was obviously a naive 18 year old when I left Scotland, as I'd never heard the term ned, but then that was over 14 years ago, maybe it is a new word - chav certainly can't have been around that long!

Apologies to anyone who thinks I am being snobby - it's just hearsay - and my friend who told me about it is a Scouser and told me she could hold her own with the scallies (sp!) but these were in another league
