Hi All,

Not been on for ages. Been feeling sick so really pleased about that although at the time I have to keep convincing myself!

Am 7 weeks this weekend. I asked gp for an early scan but not heard anything yet - how much longer should I wait before chasing?

Oinker - keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Uki · 31/08/2007 09:42

Hi all

I raise an apple cider toast to the new grand dame Purple also to Rubles and fettle for the count down, no drinking here yet LOL

Oinker- Poor hun I'm thinking really positive for you and praying on the 50% positive.

Unfortunately I've had some more health dramas over here, I just want to be normal but pg and me don't seem to work. i've had some bad post natal bleeding, and may have an infected uterus or have left products. So on antibiotics. I've also got a lump in my breast , and have to wait till monday to get a scan on it. trying not to think the worst, not fun.

Springflower so sorry honey.......

Uki, try not to worry about lump. Pg and post natally we are so revved up with hormones that I'm sure it will be that and nothing else.

MOM and Spugs, I still haven't joined March antenatal for exactly that reason. Might manage to put my brave head on after 12 week scan and make an introduction.

Bumpkin, how long ago did you speak to GP about early scan?

I have had a letter through this morning asking me to attend the top-dog obs consultants clinic in January! I am rather surprised as I don't know that I warrant the attention of the top dog!! But I managed to wangle an appt to see her last year to discuss my possibilities of VBAC for when I got pg. She was wonderful - very thorough and honest - and spent over an hour with me, and all when I wasn't even pg yet! When I mentioned this to the mw when I booked in she said she would have to find out whether or not this particular consultant would want to see me again, and it has obviously been decided that she is the one for me! Appt not til January, which is fine seeing as there isn't actually anything wrong (touch wood! Healthy and well, healthy and well.....)and hopefully it will just be a case of going over the birth plan for the vbac. But quite exciting none-the-less!

EllieG · 31/08/2007 10:54

I've just found out my best mate is also PG and due the week before me! How cool is that?! Spent the whole of last night texting each other with symptoms - was like having MN in RL

Mumpbump · 31/08/2007 12:12

Springflower - sorry to hear your news...

Uki - likewise, you sounds like you're going through a bit of a tough time! Hope that things improve soon...

VV - pleased to hear that all is well with bubba!

Glimmer - my m/w appointment was with the NHS m/w. With ds, I had really good care at East Surrey Hospital, so am only worried about lack of resources causing problems with the birth. The independent m/w said they would do the birth and postnatal, but since we don't want the postnatal privately and would be paying over £1000 for this part of the service, we've decided to stick with the NHS option. Turns out that the hospital has closed due to lack of space in the Special Care unit, rather than lack of m/w, so I'm feeling a bit more reassured about having an NHS homebirth now...

EllieG - that's nice to have a RL friend pg at the same time!

Feedmenow - didn't realise you were such an important person!!

Bumpkin - I'd start chasing. I think early scans tend to be around 8 weeks so I would have thought you should have had something through by now...

Turns out bubba is back-to-back, but at least head down so I will be doing lots of floor scrubbing when I start my maternity leave. Have to grout the kitchen floor and utility room floor anyway, so that should help.

Mumpbump · 31/08/2007 12:13

Sorry - hello to everyone else I haven't mentioned!!!

Mumpbump - I thought maternity leave is for generally not doing much? I will be extremely disappointed to get to mine and have to do lots of DIY as am already trying to get DP to do more of the housework by saying I should take it easy adn am only 7 weeks!

MerlinsBeard · 31/08/2007 12:59

springflowers, am so sorry to hear your news

am wobbling (again) today as i feel empty inside. I doin't really know how ro describe it, i have felt full up since a few weeks pg but now i feel like whatever was filling me has gone.

EllieG · 31/08/2007 12:59

When's your next scan MOM?

MerlinsBeard · 31/08/2007 13:04

i haven;t had any scans yet EllieG! Not yet got my appt thru but it will be in 2 weeks (when i will [hopefully] be 13 weeks)

EllieG · 31/08/2007 13:05

Apart from feeling 'empty' have you noticed any PG symptoms dying down? You might just be feeling a bit paranoid maybe?

Mumpbump · 31/08/2007 13:07

MOM - bear in mind that a lot of first trimester symptoms start to ease off around now anyway. The fact you have got this far is really encouraging and all I can say is now is the time to use the mantra...

MerlinsBeard · 31/08/2007 13:08

paranoid is not the word for it lol!
My symptoms have come and gone for a few weeks now, could be just settling down as placenta takes over rather than me (iyswim) but the paranoia of a mmc is not leaving me

MerlinsBeard · 31/08/2007 13:09

healthy and well healthy and well healthy and well

Hello ladies
I really hope no one minds me posting here but I have a question and a concern that i think you might understand and maybe be able to help with.
To cut a long story short I had a very early miscarriage then got pg straight away and went for private 6w scan on Tues. Saw the heartbeat but doc said yolk saw was too big (6mm). He was truly horrid and said there was nothing to do but wait but that it was a bad sign. He actually laughed when I was asking if my baby would die. 'Ha ha to early to say'.
When I called him again this morning because I'm going out of my mind with worry he said he would terminate the pregnancy if I wanted! He says I have a high chance of mc or probs with baby.
Feeling horrendous and wondered if any of you had experienced this or could remember your measurements.
Have booked a scan with the fetal med centre for a week on Mon but the wait is tearing me apart. My midwife says not to worry and try to stay calm as heart beat is a good sign but can't get what the doc said out of my head.
Any advice would be so incredibly appreciated.
Thanks
x

MerlinsBeard · 31/08/2007 13:40

could you be further along than you think? what a horrible Dr

dolly1 · 31/08/2007 13:43

No def not - was using a clear blue fertility monitor and oved on day 18 so if anything I'm a few days behind.
Yes he was a terrible doc and my dh is furious because he thinks I've had the fear of god put in me for no good reason - he agrees with the midwife that we shouldn't give up hope yet.

Mumpbump · 31/08/2007 13:53

What an arsehole of a doctor!!! I'd complain to the practice manager and change practice or at least doctor. If he was part of the private scan, you are a paying customer and if nothing else, this is appalling customer service, let alone incredibly insensitive in the circumstances.

I have not heard of people posting about problems with the sac being too big. The main cause for concern is if it is too small! Also, if you have seen a hb, you have a very good chance of having a successful pg. Ignore what the doctor has told you - he is clearly an idiot...

Mumpbump · 31/08/2007 13:54
Angry
dolly1 · 31/08/2007 13:59

Thanks Mumpbump. I am thinking about complaining. My dh was so annoyed that he laughed at us. It was as if it was completely insignificant and I felt like screaming 'at what point to you consider this little human being important enough not to laugh when it's mother asks if it will die?!'

I'm going the EPU at my local nhs hosp tomorrow morning and hopefully they will be able to give me a second opionion.

Have never felt so worried in my life.

EllieG · 31/08/2007 14:01

What a horrible Dr! I'd complain about that. Not sure about yolks but I would trust your MW, they are generally good and sensible people x

Feedmenow · 31/08/2007 14:44

Dolly, so sorry to hear what an arese of a doctor you saw! I sometimes wonder if they have any idea of bedside manner at all! What an insensitive jerk!
I had an early scan at 5+4 and have got my report out so I could tell you my measurements. I don't know if this helps you at all, but the report says my gestational sac was 13.3mm, my yolk sac 3.6mm and GSD volume (???) 1.0ml. So my yolk sac was smaller than yours, although a few days "younger". Were you exactly 6 weeks at the scan?
I'm so sorry you are going through this time of limbo, and hope you get a good and speedy outcome. xxx

Mumpbump · 31/08/2007 14:47

By the way, Dolly - congratulations on your pg and welcome to the thread! Afraid the wave of red rather took over there!!
