November babies - getting close now...

Thought I'd post another November babies thread as I haven't seen one in ages. I'll be 31 weeks tomorrow and it's starting to feel very real now! Not that the crazy heartburn and ever expanding bump wasn't enough of a reminder... anyone else due in November and want to chat?

Nobody panic but our due dates are next month.

Hayesdays · 01/10/2019 11:26

eeek! I'm so excited! I hope she isn't late and we edge into December..!

Mintypea5 · 01/10/2019 11:39

Pregnancy is turning me grey! At the chiropractor waiting for my appointment looked in the mirror and saw I have my first (small) grey hair! SadSad

Goostacean · 01/10/2019 11:54

Amazing! Although I'm pretty sure I'll have a December baby- DC1 was 12 days late.

Startingagain2 · 01/10/2019 12:32

Hi all new to mumsnet also due in November I’ve been searching for a thread but only just come across it. Well a little bit about me, I’m 38 and have 3 children (14,12,10) from a previous relationship and now expecting my 4th with my new partner ( I say partner but not sure how long for not getting on at the moment) we are having a little girl.
Anyway hope it’s ok to join
Smile

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 01/10/2019 12:58

I thought I'd have a December baby but there's been some mention of induction so November is looking possible.

MrBobLobLaw · 01/10/2019 13:24

Hi everyone. Due on 4th Nov for my second baby boy. We're moving house before hand though (hopefully!) so it's a bit full on. DS1 will turn 2yo next week so we're trying to make that special for him too in amongst all this madness.

Feeling big and tired now but I have very little time to rest as I work for myself at home so have to work through DS' naptimes. It's all go! Have had it easy so far eight just bad heartburn really. Hoping for another easy birth with no pain relief which is what I had for DS1. He was 9lb though so I want a smaller one this time Blush

BostonFern · 02/10/2019 15:37

@Weathergirl1 that's a good analogy!

@fabaga that's a really good suggestion about partners getting the jab, I've told mine and we are going to get him jabbed too!

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver isn't it weird to think we are due next month!

Is anyone else having growth scans and finding that baby's estimated size is quite large? Ours is currently estimated to be 4lb 10oz at 32 weeks.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 02/10/2019 15:47

I'm afraid I win @BostonFern

5lb 10 at 31 weeks!

BostonFern · 02/10/2019 15:52

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver you definitely win!

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 02/10/2019 15:54

@BostonFern there's been some chat about induction, I'm being sent for another GTT and I've been asked to join a study for women with giant babies. I'm just rolling with it.

BostonFern · 02/10/2019 16:00

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver my consultant mentioned the possibility of another GTT depending on the next scab, but reassuringly the numbers were all really good on the last one-looks like we might just grow larger babies.

Mintypea5 · 02/10/2019 17:36

@BostonFern my baby was the same at 32 weeks! Got another growth scan in 2 weeks so excited to see where we are then ... consultant said today I can opt for induction on or around due date if I like. If scan shows any issues may be earlier

brighteye3986 · 03/10/2019 10:47

@BostonFern and @smartcarnotsosmartdriver my baby measured at 5lb 5oz at 32 weeks and then this week at 35 weeks was estimated at 7lb 1oz! 😳

Waiting for my phone call for me to go in for steroids and then am having a c section next week. Am going to chase up today if I haven't heard anything by about 2pm!

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 03/10/2019 11:04

@brighteye3986 I hope you don't mind me asking but is your section because of baby's size? I'm trying not to freak out about how big he is but I can't help it. I have an appointment with my midwife today so I'll discuss it all with her.

brighteye3986 · 03/10/2019 11:09

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver there are several factors for me... baby's size, I have GD and am on insulin and am also at risk of pre eclampsia too as my blood pressure is high... got to go back in tomorrow just for a blood pressure check... I was told at 28 weeks though that they recommend for me to have a c section. Baby has measured big since 28 weeks... at my 20 week scan which was actually at 22+2 he was estimated at 1lbs 4 and by 28 weeks he was estimated at 3lbs 13 and has continued to consistently grown at each of my scans but is measuring on 97th centile.

BostonFern · 03/10/2019 16:31

@brighteye3986 @Mintypea5 we haven't discussed induction yet as he was just at the 90th percentile, I think the consultant said if he was heading above the 95th we would go through options then.

Hi everyone, I've been rubbish at keeping up with this thread as we've had so much going on.. trying to buy and sell property whilst heavily pregnant and looking after my almost 2yo full time (whilst also working full time from home!) has wiped me out!! Still haven't completed on our purchase but hoping to do so on 31st Oct so we will potentially be moving 4 days before my due date!

My son was a big baby (9lb) so hoping for a smaller one this time!

We have our 36 week scan at kings on Tuesday so really hoping baby is looking healthy and will let you know the estimated weight, not that they're very good because they never predicated DS would be 9lb!

brighteye3986 · 05/10/2019 02:47

So little update from me... was admitted in on Thursday for my steroid injection- just for reference they really hurt! Was discharged last night and am back in on Tuesday at 36+1 for my c section! Excited and scared all at the same time but can't wait to finally get to meet my little man!

KatieKat88 · 05/10/2019 07:52

@brighteye3893 exciting - good luck!! Please let us know how you get on. Must be feeling so real now!

Is anyone else struggling with their knees? Mine hurt so much - transitions from standing to sitting, stairs etc are agony. Paracetamol isn't doing a lot to help!

I had really bad pains yesterday and back ache like I’ve been kicked in it, so started to time them after about an hour of having them. Roughly 5 mins apart so called maternity ward. They said to come in but my local one was closed (4 mins from my house!!) so had to travel nearly 30 miles to the next one which was rammo! All good so far. 3 hours of waiting to seen all the while regular pains with some force. Told not early labour basically your over reacting with Braxton hicks go home and man up! It might be an infection but won’t know results until Weds/Thurs. Had them on and off all night still got them regularly now - any ideas what it might be? I’ve been active that and generally makes BH go but this is not shifting. I’m not a whinger either if I’m unwell I suck it up and get on with it, not one for tablets but I’ve been taking paracetamol regularly since yesterday lunch time to “help” but it’s not touching it. Now I feel really tearful (I don’t cry either very rarely) probably because I’m so tired and not to mention silly for waisting their time as they kept repeating how busy they were. Any ideas would be greatly received xxx

Hi there,

I hope this message isn't again the rules of the thread - please feel free to delete if so.

I am a student in South East London, studying child development as part of a Masters at the British Psychotherapy Foundation (jointly run with Birkbeck). Part of my training involves learning about the very beginnings of human life by observing an infant once a week at a regular time, within a normal family setting.

I am currently looking for a baby to begin observing in November/ December and would be very glad to hear from anyone who is interested in hearing more. I have an enhanced DBS check and would be able to put you in touch with my course leaders.

The aim of the observation is to learn about how a newborn baby comes to relate to its surroundings over the first 18 months of life. Taking part would involve weekly visits for an hour, over a period of about 18 months, ideally at a regular time (although of course this could be changed during holiday periods or when important things come up).

The only requirements during the visits would be that your baby is at home with you or another adult when I visit - my aim would be to act as unobtrusively as possible so that you can get on with family life, so you could generally behave more or less as you would if I wasn't there.

Any notes I write would be made after I leave, and I would remove any identifying details before sharing reflections on the observation for course purposes. All details would be fully confidential.

I live in Camberwell and would be able to visit anywhere within travelling distance of London. If you are potentially interested in taking part or have any questions, please do get in touch via direct message - I would be very pleased to hear from you.

Getting a bit fed up with feeling like I have a stitch at the bottom of my bump if I walk anywhere. I have however been on the spinning babies website and discovered that doing the inversion exercise on there relieves the pressure for a bit.

I also did a bit of an experiment on the bed the other night and turned myself upside down as though I was doing a headstand. Everything moved up my chest to the extent my lungs felt crushed, so I won't be doing that again 🤣🤣
