So who's breech at the moment and how many weeks are you?

I'm 33+1 and I don't reckon this LO will turn!

Will keep you updated

Ha ha - fancy meeting you again!

I'm 37 weeks - people have finally stopped saying that there's loads of time for it to turn. MW on wednesday and see how it goes from there!

By the way have you decided on names? How big are you measuring?

I'm still very stuck on names.

When I asked MW how likely it was for LO to turn she said as it's no.3 muscles not holding it into place so well (i.e. nice and slack!) but this is NOT a small baby! However, everyone I meet keeps saying I've got a very neat bump (not had time to pig out like the other 2 pgs!)

Hopeitwontbebig · 06/08/2007 21:38

hello loler

I had a growth scan on Wednesday which showed LO to be above the 50 centile, but they didn't give any idea on birth weight.

I'm the same as you, definitely smaller/neater bump this pregnancy. People keep commenting on how neat it is. Def not a small baby. So maybe we have super human abs!!!!!!!

I've got a scan at 36 weeks to see if LO turns.

Keep in touch x

Im 36weeks and transverse at 34 week scan
.Have a scan tomorrow but from shape of tummy reckon I am now carrying breech as can feel a head under right boob lol

PurpleLostPrincess · 06/08/2007 23:38

((hiya HIWBB!!))

I'm just going on lumps and bumps but I'm 33+3 and this one is doing somersaults - sometimes I'm getting kicks in my cervix and I think I can feel a head at the top of my bump, sometimes I can definitely feel her bum and kicking up around my belly button... This evening, I've had either a head or a bum at the side and all sorts of squirming going on!!!

Can't wait to see the mw on Friday to find out how she is lying! Saying that, she'll probably slot into a head down position by then...

Lovely name btw!! xx

Hi everyone!!

HIWBB - fab name! DH is irish so we were looking at irish names and that made it onto our top 10 names.

I am 32+4 and at my last check up (around 2 weeks ago) LO was still breech.

I dont feel any somersaults, LO seems well ensconced in the position it is in. Keeps kicking what must be nerve endings in my lower back and I can tell you, some kicks dont half make me jump!

Hopeitwontbebig · 07/08/2007 09:23

Hi lovelies!! Glad you like Niamh. I think it's probably especially appropriate now because my Mum has just told me that my great grandmother has died at the grand old age of 107!! She lived in Belfast. So I think the Irish link is a good thing.

morning all! I was small and neat with dd perhaps its because there was a bigger gap between ds2 and her?

mine has turned at 34+3. A relief as there is no way I'd consider a 'normal' delivery if lo was breech as I'm too quick, so good luck to anyone who does.

SeamonstEr · 07/08/2007 09:29

p.s. Niamh top of our girl list, along with Aoife.

Can't think of any Irish boys names, as I hate Kiaran and we have a Conor.

OP posts:
toadstool · 07/08/2007 11:14

Scan yesterday (33+3) and LO has gone breech - I'd guessed, from the kicking into my bladder! 'footling breech' whatever that is. A friend recommended acupuncture near the EDD, but I'm hoping LO will move before then!
Seamonster, I've posted some Irish boys' names on the antenatal thread, randomly.

Hopeitwontbebig · 07/08/2007 11:53

my hubbies name. i think it is fab! glad you like.

ejt1764 · 07/08/2007 12:31

Can I join in - I'm 32 weeks today - and baby is tranverse rather than breech at the moment - and has been for weeks!

lizziemun · 07/08/2007 12:48

I will join you,

Am 36+5 am still breech, saw the consultant last friday, LO is head under ribs, feet down although head does move down half way then back again.

I am booked in for a EVC next wednesday (15th) when i will be 37 + 6, hopefully it will either turn by then or they will be able to turn LO, as i do not want to have a C-Section.

dal21 · 07/08/2007 12:56

can i just ask - would anyone consider trying to deliver via normal birth if baby was breech? I would want to try...is that wrong?

lizziemun · 07/08/2007 13:08

DAL21,

Part me says yes i would try (as dd didn't turn untill last minute). But the sensible (sp) side of me say's if the consultant/midwife think that it is safer for LO and me to have a C-Section then that i will do.

lizziemun · 07/08/2007 13:11

Sould have added Annie75 on the August due thread is trying for a normal birth with a breech, she went into labour yesterday but i don't think she has reported back as yet If you want to keep an eye out for her.

MrsMar · 07/08/2007 13:46

hehehe this is turning in to an extension of the due in september thread!!

You're all very lucky in knowing the position. My doc last week said it was too early to tell (at 33 weeks) as there wasn't enough baby there. He thought from the location of the heartbeat he though the baby was ceph, but I'm sure he's breech, based on really low movements, kicks in the cervix, and a large round hard lump out to my left just under my ribs, which I'm convinced is a head. The doc said that could be his bottom, but then why are the kicks so low (unless he's got freakishly long legs!!)

Seeing mw tomorrow so perhaps she'll be more accurate. I'll keep you posted

MrsMar · 07/08/2007 13:52

dal - I asked my mw what they do at St Georges about breech babies and it's their policy to always do a cs for a breech birth. I think it varies from trust to trust.

toadstool · 07/08/2007 14:50

The doctor yesterday said she'd usually try a external versation (sp) thingy after 36 weeks, and that their policy is to do a planned CS if it fails. As I was breech and delivered naturally (mum put under GA and given an episiotomy) back in the Olden Days, I'd be OK about trying a normal delivery - also the leg issue means the last thing I want is more flipping surgery! I've been recommended the torch-on-tummy method and acupuncture, as going around of all 4s and sitting on a birthing ball are both out (could try a variant on limbo dancing under the zimmer frame for a laugh).

Hersetta · 07/08/2007 15:26

Hi,

I'm 37+1 and my LO is Breech (extended). First detected at 32 week growth scan when she was a flexed breech she decided to get herself really stuck by going extended at 36 week scan.

Have turned down an ECV as it looks horrible and don't want to risk distressing LO so am booked for a CS at 39+3 (Aug 23rd). Consultant says odds of her turning by herself are extremely slim due to her size - 7lb 8oz at 36 week scan.

One of our ladies on the August thread (annie) went into hospital yesterday for a natural delivery of her breech baby but no news on her yet.
