So who's breech at the moment and how many weeks are you?

I'm 33+1 and I don't reckon this LO will turn!

Will keep you updated

How do you all know when your bub changes position? or turns round? maybe i dont know about it because it hasnt happened. Have a check up tomorrow - so should know by then!

I don't know if it because i am 37 + 5 or because i haven't realy put on any weight other then that of the baby. But my whole bump moves and changes shape. I have to say DH finds very odd to look at, he realy doesn't like it.

dal21 · 13/08/2007 21:15

Thanks for that lizziemum - i do feel the bub wriggling lots but can never figure what it is doing. I am quite tall and 33+3. MW says baby still has lots of room, so that could be why. The turning lark sounds painful/ uncomfortable tho! Is it?

lizziemun · 13/08/2007 21:19

DAL21

Yes it is painful/uncomfortable when it moves.

I am only 5'1" but i am carrying all out the front. I have to say i think i may be carring a big baby anyway (dd was 9lb 4oz) although she didn't measure big. I was told she would be an average size as per this time.

icet · 13/08/2007 21:26

Helloey! my little darling was breech up to 37 weeks, I had an ECV (much to my dismay) but it did the job, she got so comfortable kicking like mad once turned, that didn't arrive until 11 days over and even then it was after a sweep. Really bizzare experience! Good luck all you new mummies to be, mine is 14 weeks old now already and time really does fly! make the most of the rest now whilst you can!!! x

Ceolas · 13/08/2007 21:27

Midwives thought my baby was breech but scan at 36 weeks showed cephalic.

I was so relived as I'd spent about a month hanging upside down!

Anyway, I have a box of moxa sticks I'd happily send anyone who would like to try them. There are 8 left.

Are you set up for CAT? If not, I'll CAT you for your address.

Nettee · 13/08/2007 23:32

my baby turns fairly often and I don't find it uncomfortable at all or even know when it is happening - just feel the head in different positions. Maybe I just have no stomach muscles. Definately likes to be breech though...

ejt1764 · 14/08/2007 10:20

Thanks for the tip on the cushions MrsMar - and I already have a wonderful working relationship with a superb acupuncturist who has helped me through miscarriage and hyperemesis ... I have an appointment with her in a couple of weeks (I'm 33 weeks today) so we'll get going on the moxa then if madam is still breech.

She's not going to be terribly big - ds was born at 40 + 16 and weighed just 7lb 3oz - and there's every indication that this one is much the same.

MrsMar · 14/08/2007 11:18

good luck with the acupuncturist ejt!!

I'm pretty sure this one's still transverse... last night I could feel a really obvious hard round bump slightly to the right of and about an inch above my tummy button. It felt so head like I was convinced it's his head... I could still feel what I'm sure is his bottom too, over on the other side, slightly lower than his head, poking out from just under my left ribs. So much for my "turning" sensations yesterday!

Alfie72 · 14/08/2007 18:18

I tried the moxibustion (at 32 weeks) I'm now 33 weeks...I unfortunately got contractions after it. I don't think it wasn't related actually. My baby does just not want to budge, way too comfy. I think I'll end up having the ECV at 36 weeks or a csection at this rate. Every time I try to do the bum inn the air position- I feel sick. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh !!

MrsMar · 14/08/2007 18:22

What a pain Alfie!! I know what you mean about feeling queasy when sitting with bum in the air, the few times I've tried it it does make me feel very strange, I think it's cos the baby's head is rammed right up against my stomach and possibly my diaphragm as I feel a little breathless too (so I guess he's squashing my lungs!)

Alfie72 · 14/08/2007 19:05

You're spot on there Mrs Mar, must be squidging my guts !!

I've tried the frozen peas- the baby just seems to like the cold ( I would too after that brief heat spell we had !!)

I tried the torch and the music the baby's head moved left and right then he/she just gave up and settled back in his/ her fave position ( the middle) and kicked me in the groin for good measure.

CTG pads makes him/her wriggle for 5 seconds then he/ she settles again.

Does anyone have any non invasive top tips ? Times are getting desperate !!

MrsMar · 14/08/2007 19:10

I wish I could help alfie, I'm no expert. Though it did just occur to me that if you try this early you may find the baby will turn back. I'm only guessing this cos I know most hospitals won't attempt ecv before 36 weeks as the risk of the baby turning back is so high. I wouldn't worry too much yet, you've got a few weeks for him/her to turn.

dal21 · 14/08/2007 19:12

Hello all - scan today confirmed bub is still breech. am 33+4 and consultant not remotely worried as lots of babies are still spinning up til 37/38 weeks.
Goes to show hiccups that i get lower in cervix are no indicator of which way the LO is!

Alfie72 · 14/08/2007 19:18

Let's hope that the miracle happens and he/she decides to make the move !!

I have to admit, it is becoming a bit of an obsession now. Mainly because he/she has been lying this way for 8 weeks and I can feel little feet dancing in my pelvis. Which makes me think he/she is going to stay put. I reckon he/s he needs a sofa and TV to add to the package !!

Because of my contraction episode I have to be super careful now...Need this bubba to stay put for another 4 weeks at least !!

Thanks for the words of encouragement and will keep you posted. Good luck with your Breech Little ones too !!

MrsMar · 14/08/2007 19:45

alfie - I know what you mean about obssession, I've been prodding my belly non stop to work out where this LO is... Mine has been in this position for about four/five weeks now, I've had a pair of feet digging in to my ribs since early July at least - he's transverse, feet stick in to my left set of ribs, head in to the right... hmmm nice!

MrsMar · 14/08/2007 19:53

Actually, scratch that, I've been having a feel around (again!!) and it's definitely his bum that's digging in to my left ribs, his feet are wacking my cervix!!

teuch · 14/08/2007 20:17

hullo all! my boy was breech until 36+ erm something (seems so long ago now!)

I did lots of sitting on exercise ball, the wrong way on a dining chair, forward on all fours and...the best yet...pelvic scoops!

Honestly, if you can find someone to show you a pelvic scoop I reckon they do the trick, I just don't think I can describe it!!!

He turned and was born 2 days later (more than 3 weeks early) - I reckon he burst the 'mini' waters himself with all his fuss!

MrsMar · 14/08/2007 21:15

crikey, I've never heard of a pelvic scoop, sounds painful!

Alfie72 · 15/08/2007 11:08

I'm intrigued as to what a pelvic scoop is too. Any ideas ?

Hopeitwontbebig · 15/08/2007 13:21

Yes... me too.... what's a pelvic scoop... which page of the Kama Sutra is that on

OP posts:
Alfie72 · 15/08/2007 13:24

I google- d it. There weren't any diagrams but it's a callanetics move apparently. Maybe it is a karma sutra jobbie too ? !!

lizziemun · 15/08/2007 18:25

I had my ECV today, and it worked i just have to wait to see the midwife on friday to see if LO has stayed in the right way.

I have to say it wasn't painfull in what the consultant was doing, i got more pain where his gloves got struck to my skin.

It the actual EVC only took about 5 mins, then monitored for 10 mins to make sure the baby wasn't stressed and then another 10 mins to check for movement.

I just feel abit sore now.
