Anyone else 39+ weeks? Baby watch thread?

39+1 with DC2 today and getting very restless! Partly because I have no idea what to expect with going into spontaneous labour (I was induced for reduced foetal movement with DC1, and ended up with an EMCS). Anyone fancy joining me in a baby watch thread?

Thats a shame misspolly!

Kaiser1805 · 30/08/2019 17:08

39+6 with DC number 1. So sick of waiting now, had 2 sweeps and still no sign of baby 🤷🏻‍♀️😩 x

KHR1 · 30/08/2019 17:40

@greystar30 hope they get you sorted soon!

Huncamuncaa · 30/08/2019 19:23

Anyone else having a stop and start labour? Have been in early labour for 4 days. Keep having contractions which get intense for about an hour and then fizzle out completely always in the middle of the night! Its exhausting and only 1 cm dilated. Want to cry. My first labour was nothing like this. Started and finished in 10 hours. I thought second time was meant to be easier!

Kaiser1805 · 30/08/2019 20:25

Mine is the same, I can have two or three contractions and I get excited hoping they will continue and then they stop completely! 😩 it's so frustrating x

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/08/2019 20:37

I've been cramping on and off since mid afternoon, doesnt feel like its going anywhere though

Toastymash · 31/08/2019 04:49

41+2... So fed up! I'm being induced tomorrow but I'd really rather go into labour naturally... Do any of those old wives tales actually work? I'm willing to try anything Sad

greystar30 · 31/08/2019 08:24

Still no baby here 😩 had a pessary at 3 yesterday and nothing.... Feeling fed up and I just want to go home!

Toastymash · 31/08/2019 08:29

Just curios - have any of you ladies ever had a sweep that seemed to put you into labour? This is my first pregnancy so I have nothing to compare to but I've had 4 sweeps and they seem to have done nothing except caused pain. And I'm over a week overdue and getting induced tomorrow so I think we can safely conclude that none of them worked lol.

IVEgottheDECAF · 31/08/2019 09:24

I had a sweep in my fourth pregnancy at 39+5, dc4 was born the next day

Waffle12 · 31/08/2019 10:33

Oh @greystar30- how frustrating for u-really hope u get going soon. And to all u other ladies who are stopping and starting-fingers crossed for you too.

Another attempt at a sweep yesterday but head still not engaged so was refused again. But lost plug on wed, and then had bloody show last night. Very very mild period pains overnight so I really hope this is the start of something (40+5 now) but wont be counting my chickens. Seems like we all have very cosy, very stubborn babies!!

KHR1 · 31/08/2019 10:59

@greystar30 sorry that you are feeling so fed up :( fingers crossed the pessary will be working its magic and you'll be ready for your waters breaking when they take it out!

@Toastymash - I tried sex, eating entire pineapples every day, bouncing on birthing balls, walking miles and eating spicy food and at 41 weeks no dilation until I went for induction and was 1cm at 41+3. The wives tales didn't work for me but some people swear by them! Even though they didn't work, I was still glad I tried.

Huncamuncaa · 31/08/2019 11:51

My consultant said 15% success rate for sweeps. Mine hasn't worked. First night of no contractions but still couldn't sleep.

All my teacher friends are debating the pros and cons of Sep and Aug birthdays. Just had an urgent text telling me to 'hang on in there with my legs crossed, to avoid a summer born.' 😂 After a week of failed labour I can assure you I will be doing no such thing!

ThePolishWombat · 31/08/2019 12:14

37+4, been cramping on and off since Monday which has been most frustrating! But went for a trek around the market this morning, came home and have lost an impressive amount of mucus plug. I’m going to get my clary sage oil out later and see if it helps crank up the cramps!!
(Last two babies were born 38+1 and 36+0)

KHR1 · 31/08/2019 12:15

@Huncamuncaa I was the total opposite! As a teacher I know how summer born babies are perceived but august birthday means one less year or nursery fees!

Huncamuncaa · 31/08/2019 13:07

I know! I'm not worried and I'm a teacher too. Think we'll be paying that extra year!

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 01/09/2019 12:06

How's things @greystar30 hope all is well and you've had some progress!

Had another sweep today 5cm dilated now - without any labour. Induction booked for next Saturday. MW said they'll break my waters and see how I go, no need for pessary, has anyone had this type of induction and not required the drip?

greystar30 · 01/09/2019 14:09

Hey @MissPollyHadADolly19, sounds like you'll beat me to it! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I've had a pessary and two prostin gels now, still only 1.5cm! I'm waiting for a free midwife on the labour ward to break my waters so hopefully that will kickstart it! Having some contractions but nothing regular enough yet

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 02/09/2019 00:07

Ahh I doubt it @greystar30 this baby seems to be quite attached to staying on the inside!
Hopefully once they've broke your waters things should move along abit quicker for you.

The one thing I'm more fed up with than being overdue is people asking me if I'm still pregnant. Nope just sporting this massive bump for fun! Argghhhh

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 02/09/2019 15:03

We have a baby!
No idea the exact time she was born but it was around 9.30am. 10lb 4oz, 5 hour labour from start to finish.

TENS machine gets my full recommendation and would 100% use again.

elizzza · 02/09/2019 15:27

Wonderful news @MissPolly, massive congratulations to you!

KHR1 · 02/09/2019 16:10

Congratulations @MissPollyHadADolly19! Flowers

Kaiser1805 · 02/09/2019 16:54

Congratulations on baby! ❤️

I'm so jealous!

40+3 now, induction booked for Saturday, had two failed sweeps so clearly baby needs evicting!!

Totally understand what you're saying about people asking "are you still pregnant?" 😂😂

greystar30 · 02/09/2019 18:04

Ahhh congratulations @MissPollyHadADolly19!

After having my waters broken and being put on a drip I finally had my baby girl Daisy at 3:10am this morning. 🥰 She was 8lbs 6oz.
She's having a few issues with fluid in her lungs so is on a drip in an incubator in the Neonatal unit but hopefully that won't be for much longer and we'll be taking her home soon 🤞🏻

I hope everyone else waiting for their little bundles of joy to come don't have to wait too much longer x

KHR1 · 02/09/2019 18:35

Congratulations @greystar30! Flowers

Hope Daisy is well enough to go home soon!
