@LokiCat I'm still doing fine at work, I've had an easy pregnancy so far, am feeling good, and I have a desk job (albeit fairly high pressured) so I'm happy to carry on til the end.
I was constantly prodding my boobs to check how sore they were at the start!

@MrsEG no chance of a wind down at work for me, the pressure will only ramp up over the next few weeks til I leave. I don't mind that though, I prefer that to being bored and I've always worked better under pressure.

ELW85 · 20/08/2019 16:55

@LokiCat - I also did the self-boob prod loads! It got to one point though (somewhere between week 6-7) where they ramped up and started hurting even when I walk so I don’t check anymore 😂
I’m sure wherever you end up will be amazing!

@stormtrooperjulian - we sound like we’re in similar positions, job-wise.
I’m still a way off letting them know, but I’ve got lots of pressure in my role and a big programme to deliver as well as a restructure so I think my boss will have a heart attack when I announce it. I’m thinking of going back after 6 months but I don’t know how realistic that is.

MrsR16 · 20/08/2019 17:38

@MrsEG hopefully it'll be here before Christmas! Due the 18th December so we'll see when it turns up 😂

Tropicana1 · 20/08/2019 21:30

@cupcakesandglitter oh god I had SUCH terrible skin for about the first 14 weeks, I swear I was just one, big, under the skin nothing to pop pimple.

@MrsEG I'm exactly the same - felt weird about a social media post but for no particular reason, couldn't say why I didn't want to do one! And I always love seeing other people's so extra bizarre. Now I think people find it odd when I tell them in person as I'm 20 weeks and still haven't "announced" it as such 🙈
Not chosen our pram yet but I think we might go for one of those. I want a good all terrain / off road type for walking the dog, but also am hoping / planning to do a lot of baby-wearing for the dog walks.

@stormtrooperjulian I'm so glad to see someone else working up close to their EDD. I was starting to panic that I'm mad! I'm planning to work up to around 39 weeks at the moment

Lemonysherbet · 21/08/2019 03:50

This middle of the night peeing malarky is totally messing with my solid 8 hours of sleep...

MrsEG · 21/08/2019 07:02

@LokiCat I honestly don’t know; I know some people say they were so sure they were having X or Y but I have no idea at all! I also have no preference either haha! I can’t wait to know though so we can finally stop bickering over names!! Hope you had a fab dinner

@stormtrooperjulian @ELW85 Feel for you both! My job is usually very high pressure (managing huge events) but since I told them I was expecting I’ve been pulled off anything stressful - I’m now mentoring junior members of staff instead! Some days it’s mind-numbing but it has been quite nice too! Although I think if you prefer it being all-go, you’d be SO bored of my workload at the mo!!

@MrsR16 My DH is a Christmas Day baby and he was a week late!! He did make it on to the news though ha!

@Tropicana1 Totally the same, I love other people’s social media announcements and get so excited for them but just could bring myself ha! DH is so keen so I’ve said maybe after 20 weeks instead.
I so want to do baby-wearing dog walks, I’m hoping to find a good sling library to chat about carrying twins - sounds like it’s possible, but gets tough as they get bigger!

I did my first pregnancy Pilates last night and it was fab. Nice small group of preggos all at different stages, it was relaxing and a good stretch but also just the right amount of challenging too. Slept like a baby afterwards! Have a good Wednesday everyone, that long weekend is in sight!!

MrsR16 · 21/08/2019 08:48

@MrsEG pregnancy pilates sounds like fun! I have done no proper exercise in months... I walk the dog every day without fail, but as far as proper exercise goes? Not feeling it haha! Glad you got on well, lovely 😊

ELW85 · 21/08/2019 10:36

@MrsEG - it’s great that they’ve been so thoughtful of you at work 😊 I get that it must be weird to do really easy things, but I bet your Mat leave will be here before you know it!

daisiesandpeonies · 21/08/2019 10:46

Here he/she is! All was well at the scan yesterday. I'm 13+2 so further than I believed! I'm due February 24th 🎉🎉🎉 Feels so real now!

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 6!
stormtrooperjulian · 21/08/2019 10:53

@ELW85 my boss offered me a promotion on the day I told him about my pregnancy! He's been very supportive. Our roles sound similar. I'm planning on taking 8-9 months off and trying not to worry about what will happen to my project while I'm away! I might end up going back earlier though depending on finances as I'm the high earner.

@Tropicana1 @MrsEG I felt weird about a social media post too. We didn't put anything on social media til around 22 weeks and even then it wasn't an 'announcement', just a holiday photo where I was clearly pregnant.

@MrsEG pregnancy Pilates sounds nice. I've been meaning to do some at home with YouTube vids but I haven't got around to it

@daisiesandpeonies lovely pic! Glad the scan went well

BostonFern · 21/08/2019 10:58

@daisiesandpeonies lovely scan photo!

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday!

PippaPug · 21/08/2019 11:27

@daisiesandpeonies - Beautiful scan photo!

MrsEG · 21/08/2019 11:34

@MrsR16 Ha all I’ve done is dog walks so far! I did really enjoy it - I can’t do much exercise wise with twins so it was nice to feel like I was moving again!

@ELW85 It is a bit weird! It’s nice working with some of the juniors though, they’re all so keen and eager haha!

@daisiesandpeonies Ahh fabulous picture! I’m 13+3 we’re almost date twins!

@stormtrooperjulian I think that’s what we’ll do in the end, just upload a picture of me and bump - it’ll be fairly obvious then haha! Pilates was fab and it was nice to see so many other ladies there at all different stages - one was 38 weeks still going strong!

ELW85 · 21/08/2019 11:44

@stormtrooperjulian - snap, I’m the Hugh earner too! I’m negotiating the contract for my new/expanded role next month and debating whether or not to tell the boss before or after. She’ll be supportive but just need to feel like I’ve gotten the best deal.

@daisiesandpeonies - congratulations! What a lovely scan photo 😊

@MrsEG - ah enthusiasm...I remember that 😂

Lemonysherbet · 21/08/2019 13:12

Think I just had my first pregnancy emotion related cry. Although I may have cried about it anyway. Phoned the doctor's who said I self refer. Go on the website, it says do it after 6 weeks. Ok that's easy enough. Also says I need to take extra folic acid due to my BMI. So I popped to boots at lunch to ask the pharmacist as I already have pregnancy vitamins is there like a top up one I can take
Let's just say he didn't get what I meant, didn't know the NHS recommdation and started on at me that folic acid and BMI are 2 diff things and if I go to my doctor about BMI he will tell me to.exercise as I'm overweight. I tried to explain but could feel tears appearing so swiftly left.

I'm too scared to even phone the doctor's now. I suffer badly with anxiety and someone treating me like an idea has really upset me

Has anyone else had the same situation with their BMI and folic acid? How did you get the bigger dose?

MrsR16 · 21/08/2019 13:25

@daisiesandpeonies beautiful scan photo!! Isn't it awesome when they look like a little person?

@Tropicana1 @stormtrooperjulian @MrsEG I did do a social media post, well DH posted a picture of the early Father's Day present that I got him! Half my family's the other side of the world, so I wanted them to be able to share with their friends 😊 completely personal choice though!

@Lemonysherbet sorry the pharmacist was so unhelpful! I'd get another's opinion if you can bring yourself to. Anxiety's not fun at the best of times, let alone when you're feeling a bit vulnerable and scared of the unknown.

MrsEG · 21/08/2019 13:30

@Lemonysherbet I had to take a bigger dose as I’m having twins. It has to be prescribed - pop in to see your GP and they’ll do a prescription and provide the correct dosage too.

@MrsR16 I love other people’s, even took the photos for my sisters haha. We’re the same in that a lot of our family are in Ireland but between both sets of parents the entire Isle knows at this point haha!

@ELW85 Ha I know!! I keep looking at them like, ohhh you just wait for this place to ruin you! Youthful optimism indeed!!

Lemonysherbet · 21/08/2019 13:34

Thank you @MrsR16 and @MrsEG

Feeling a bit better now thank you! Husband was going to ask the go but in that case I'll just book an appointment myself

Lemonysherbet · 21/08/2019 13:48

I phoned the doctor's and the lady told me to go to the pharmacy. Ugh in tears again. Why will no one help

MrsR16 · 21/08/2019 13:52

@Lemonysherbet is there a different pharmacy you can pop into? Don't worry, it will get sorted and you'll get the right dosage 😊 xx

TrashKitten10 · 21/08/2019 14:08

@Lemonysherbet If he's a pharmacist and didn't understand that you need higher amounts of folic acid with a higher BMI then he's the idiot, not you. Why don't you print off the NHS advice to take with you if you need to go back. If he starts off about exercise just cut him off, you're here because you need a higher dose of folic acid as advised by the NHS, not lifestyle advice thank you. If you still get nowhere just book a GP appointment and don't specify what for. Don't let anybody make you feel like an idiot and too anxious to return Angry

MrsEG · 21/08/2019 14:20

@Lemonysherbet All you need is 5mg rather than 4 - I needed a prescription though, but maybe that differs county to county. I agree in trying somewhere other than Boots and try another pharmacist. If you still get no joy just book a GP appt. Please don’t panic too much though - 4mg is fine for now, many women wouldn’t find out they needed more until their booking in appt for example. There’s absolutely no rush, I didn’t start on mine til I was 7 weeks.

Lemonysherbet · 21/08/2019 14:24

Thank you all, I'm emotionally wobbly at the best of times but today it just pushed me over the edge! Very greatful to have such a supportive group of people on here so thank you!

MrsEG · 21/08/2019 14:48

Ladies, two very TMI queries for you:

Any top tips for the second tri constipation?? Good god, I thought the last few weeks were bad. I’m having bran flakes every breakfast and loads of fruit to little avail!
Discharge - this has seriously upped the ante too! Some days I feel like I’ve wet myself down there (it’s always just the usual clear or white/off white) - normal? I’m changing my underwear three times a day, getting close to investing in Tena ladies.

Gosh it’s just all so glamorous isn’t it.

Jessikka · 21/08/2019 14:54

Hey @Lemonysherbert congratulations!
Im due end of april too!

Either 5 weeks or 6 atm! (My period stopped for a few days and restarted and i don't know which date was really cd1 so I'm in limbo lol) though morning sickness has started today pushing me to think I may be more 6 weeks!

Exciting times 💖
