@MrsEG baby showers are fun! My sister was planning mine before she fell pregnant, so I have no idea if it's happening or not! 😂 I am very glad to be home - you're spot on about Mondays hehe xx

@LokiCat and hey, one day you may get one symptom and then never see it again! Don't worry, you will get a feeling if there's something wrong and until then, your midwife is there for you to help advise!

PippaPug · 19/08/2019 18:53

@MrsEG - I’m on 800 of Folic acid instead of the 400 recommended - and I think it’s the second dose which has just caused me to struggle to sleep, I have been exhausted. I had it this morning so I’m hoping that I sleep well tonight again!

Hope your home now and have a early night!

@LikeTheFruit - when’s your scan? Bet you can’t wait now!

Does anyone have a nickname for your little ones? Taken a while but finally come up with a nickname for them - Pip and Pop! Took me a while to come up with a nickname that I haven’t given one of children I have looked after before Smile

I’m still in the not eating/nausea phase....I was hoping it would be gone now, but no! Is anyone gagging at toothpaste too Hmm

LikeTheFruit · 19/08/2019 19:21

@purplefig I think if I hadn't been so symptomatic I might have had one! Looking forward to feeling more normal again soon. Really missing doing some exercise, think I'm going to start swimming.

@MrsR16 👋 hi! Nice to see you too!

@PippaPug its next Friday! Yeah looking forward to it if a little apprehensive. Really looking forward to just being able to talk about it openly too. Sorry you're still nauseous too. It's so unpleasant!! When's your 12 week scan?

MrsR16 · 19/08/2019 19:23

@PippaPug I have a Peanut 😂 my mum christened it almost as soon as we told her!

@LikeTheFruit I bet you're so excited! I totally get where you're coming from with the apprehension... it is definitely nerve wracking, but when you find out everything is ok, it's the most amazing feeling!

PippaPug · 19/08/2019 20:14

@MrsR16 - Peanut is a very sweet name! I looked after a little one and I nicknamed her Peanut, she is 5 now and will answer to only Peanut when I’m there Smile

@LikeTheFruit - you have your scan on my birthday, what a good day!
I have mine next Wednesday so very excited for it and to see little Pip and Pop Grin

LikeTheFruit · 19/08/2019 20:34

@PippaPug hopefully it's good luck for us as I'll be 13 weeks exactly (based on lmp). We call ours little peach. Pip and pop very cute

MrsR16 · 19/08/2019 20:41

@PippaPug that's adorable! 😍 my mum also nicknamed my sister's bump Monkey (monkey nut to fit with Peanut!) 😂 Pip and Pop are most definitely cute nicknames

@LikeTheFruit wow, 13 weeks already! Crazy where that's gone

cupcakesandglitter · 19/08/2019 21:00

@LokiCat @LikeTheFruit @purplefig highly highly recommend, I'd eat a plate of them by themselves right now 😂😩

Awww @MrsEG hopefully not long until you feel them xx

@PippaPug mine is Smidge, because when we first saw it on the scan it was a tiny little smidge 😂 creative 😂 x

I've bought a scan on groupon for next week (need to book it tomorrow) but I couldn't wait, I'm getting too impatient. I feel disgusting again today, starting to doubt whether I'm cut out for this, I feel miserable!!

PippaPug · 19/08/2019 21:13

@LikeTheFruit - I must be one day behind you, I will be 13 weeks on the 31st - really hoping they don’t move me back any days at all!

Aww I love all the nicknames, and the reasons why! @cupcakesandglitter I love Smidge, it’s cute! I know what you feel like, I feel pretty gross and say on the sofa and had a cry earlier that I was still feeling sick and I had no one to do me dinner (if I have to prepare food I just gag 🤨 I’m hoping I’m over this when I go back to work!) managed to make myself a sandwich. I keep telling myself that this will soon be over and I will be in the glowing stage of pregnancy 🤨😂

When is/has everyone told people? I am trying to wait to tell people at the end of sept - I have a job that I think (99% sure) will not hire me if they know I’m pregnant 😡

Also - got a weird rash on one of my boobs - it looks like the blood has come to the surface and made it very red - not sore/itchy but wondered if it was another side effect of pregnancy?!

cupcakesandglitter · 19/08/2019 21:23

@PippaPug it's horrible isn't it!! I'm thinking of taking some time off work because wfh is fine but I'm dreading going into the office!! I've told both sets of parents and siblings, both of our best friends but that's pretty much it, I reckon I'll wait until October! There's a job I want to apply for too and I know they won't hire if they know I'm pregnant!

ALSO PREGNANCY GLOW UNFORTUNATELY SKIPPED ME AND BOUGHT ME ACNE INSTEAD!!!! I've never had acne and only get a few spots (big pores instead but that's another thread 😂) but I am riddled with big painful stupid spots 😭

stormtrooperjulian · 19/08/2019 21:43

@MrsEG love the balloon! Your friends sound amazing

@LokiCat 6 weeks is early for the booking in appointment isn't it? I didn't have mine til 10 weeks.

@LikeTheFruit that's not long to wait for your scan now! Sorry you've been feeling rough though. I kept food in my bedside table so I could eat before I got up, it helped a lot.

@PippaPug I got bright red patches on my boobs from around 7 weeks. I went to the doctor just in case and he said it was increased blood flow due to the pregnancy and nothing to worry about. The redness has gone now (just left with the huge boobs and dark nipples 😐)

@cupcakesandglitter maybe the glow will get you later on? I think I had bad skin for a few weeks at the start then it cleared up and it's been great since then

I'm 35 weeks today and the baby has started to drop. On the positive side that means I can finally take a deep breath again. On the negative side it feels like he's trying to push out
through my pubic bone when I stand up.

LokiCat · 19/08/2019 22:04

@purplefig I was looking at Lake Como as well for a relaxing holiday. It looks beautiful there. Might be a good shout actually, thanks!

@MrsR16 thanks lovely. Currently I'm welcoming the sore boobs and bloating, as they're keeping me somewhat calm. It's useful having you all to turn to if I start feeling worried, as well! 😊

@PippaPug aww Pip and Pop is so cute! Me and DH refer to it as a sprinkle only because I explained to DH the apps said the baby will be as big as a sprinkle from 5 weeks and it just stuck 😂
We've told my parents and both our managers know. I think we'll wait till after the early scan to tell a few more close people. How frustrating about the job. I hope you manage to get it.

@stormtrooperjulian oh is it? I hadn't realised. I just went with the date she offered when I called up.. Does it matter if it's too early?
Yay for being able to breathe better, but not so good about pushing on your public bone. 35 weeks though, how exciting - not long to go!!

MrsEG · 20/08/2019 07:12

@purplefig Try not to feel pressured in to doing a lot - you have a pretty good excuse at the moment! Maybe chat to DH about it beforehand too so if there is any pressure on a day you’re knackered, he can back you up. I’m a big advocate for holidays being as much about rest as they are fun!

@MrsR16 Ha you’ll have to give your sister a nudge! Maybe you could do a joint one? Yeah I really enjoy going to my friends baby showers, they’ve all been loads of fun. Shame it’s me who’ll be the sober one this time haha!

@PippaPug Oh gosh 800 is loads! Hope you’re getting a better sleep now you’ve reduced it :) We’re still calling the twins Phil and Lil but my sister calls them Thelma and Louise!
We told our immediate family at 8 weeks and close friends/family after the 12 week scan. I actually chickened out of DH doing a social media post (it just felt weird!) so I’ve asked him not to post anything til after our 20 week scan now. Couldn’t tell you why - just the thought of everyone I ever went to school with knowing felt too much haha!

@LikeTheFruit Good luck with your scan next week!

@cupcakesandglitter Don’t worry, it will pass! I’m just past 13 weeks now and slowly feeling like my normal self again. Super tired but my appetite is coming back. Even starting Pilates tonight!

@stormtrooperjulian 35 weeks! Not long at all now - when are you starting your mat leave?

So after discussion at work I am going to be finishing for maternity leave at the Christmas break! It feels so soon, especially as I break up on 18 December! As the date I’ve been given as the ‘final’ day they’d leave me is 1 Feb, given the probability I could have them earlier than that, and how massive and uncomfortable I’ll be we’ve decided I’ll take 2 weeks annual leave in Jan then start mat. I actually can’t believe how close it sounds when I say it! 4 months!! I am so not ready at all haha!

Lemonysherbet · 20/08/2019 07:16

Hey you lovely lot, recognise a lot of names here and it's given me all warm fuzzy feels 🥰 @LokiCat kindly told me this is where you all are.

Officially 5 weeks tomorrow, due end of April 2020, don't feel very pregnant apart from sore boobs and the odd cramps, and in shock, then super happy, then scared. Trying to play it cool though...

How is everyone? Anyone due soon? Any words of wisdom for someone so new to this?

Tropicana1 · 20/08/2019 07:57

@MrsEG haha love the balloon!! I'm such a huge friends fan!

Don't know if anyone's looking at Prams currently but Emma's Diary have the Occaro and icandy peach on offer for bundles around 600-700 if you order before the 31st of August! Great savings if you're considering either of those Prams!

TrashKitten10 · 20/08/2019 08:26

@LokiCat Aww, it won't be long until you're picking things out for your own baby! I think we are nearly there with buying things. We've certainly got all the big bits, it's just a few things like changing mat and baby bath to get. My bank account is not best pleased Grin

@cupcakesandglitter So funny 😂 glad it's not just me growing out of proportion! My boobs actually looked cracking in the first trimester as they filled out but now they have gone back to normal 😩 jealous of everyone else getting big boobs! Your dinner is a fabulous example of pregnancy beige haha.

@Bettythecat Yes I's definitely say CCN seems a more thorough routine. Their Facebook page is really helpful too and the admins will check your routine if you have problems.

@ELW85 gorgeous scan! So pleased things are going well :)

@MrsEG twin wrestling sounds interesting! Your 4 months until maternity leave will fly by :)

@PippaPug Our little one is a Pip too ☺️ pip and Pop is super cute!

@Lemonysherbet Congratulations and welcome! My tip would be to enjoy eating normal food before the nausea hits and you're living off beige and retching at the sight of vegetables Grin

MrsR16 · 20/08/2019 08:37

@LokiCat these ladies are amazing (as you know!) - they've helped so much!

@MrsEG a joint baby shower would be great fun! Ooh, only 4 months! I'm so on the countdown to going on leave... I think my dates work out that my last day will be 26 November 😊 so excited!!

@Lemonysherbet the best thing I can advise is to not panic. You will worry, and things will pop into your head that make you absolutely petrified, but enjoy the pregnancy! It's such a magical time 😊 if you get no major symptoms, don't worry... you'd be one of the lucky ones!

Lemonysherbet · 20/08/2019 09:26

Thanks @MrsR16 and @TrashKitten10
I'm loving the advice. It's really reassuring 😀

stormtrooperjulian · 20/08/2019 10:13

@LokiCat I don't think it matters at all having it early, and much nicer for you as you're not waiting around for ages with nothing happening!

@MrsEG my last day will be at 39+3 - 20 working days to go including today! Although now I've just counted that out on my calendar I'm panicking slightly.....

@Lemonysherbet I didn't start feeling any different really apart from sore boobs til around 6-7 weeks. I found the first few weeks passed so slowly it was like time was standing still so try to break up the time til 12 weeks somehow to make it feel more manageable! Not sure how though 😄

LokiCat · 20/08/2019 13:00

@MrsEG wow, the 4 months will flyby. I'm sure as you get nearer to the time you'll feel more prepared :)

@Lemonysherbet happy to see you here 😊 I'm officially 5 weeks on Friday - what's your EDD right now? Mine works out as 23 April 2020 if I use ovulation date.

@TrashKitten10 I can't wait. I'm already pinning Pinterest boards for nursery ideas! 🙈😂
Oh that's great, sounds like you're almost there! I was discussing with DH last night about how we spacing out buying things to give our bank accounts some time to recover

@MrsR16 yup, lots of support on the TTC thread and here! It's been great Smile

@stormtrooperjulian yeah, that's what I was thinking. Meeting the midwife will hopefully make it feel more real, because right now it feels like I've made it all up! Grin
How have you been finding it at work the last few weeks? I'm sure you can't wait to start maternity leave to have a little rest before your little one arrives!

ELW85 · 20/08/2019 13:07

@TrashKitten10 - thank you! I’ve since realised he looks like a little spaceman :) so adorable!!

@purplefig - what a brilliant reason to love Monday’s! I’m good thank you; nausea has waned again but to be fair it came back with a vengeance last time, so I’m more relaxed now.

@MrsEG - finishing at Christmas will be amazing! What a lovely festive season to have.

@LokiCat - symptoms are an odd one! The ladies will attest to my freaking out every time something fluctuates!
I think the first trimester is hard as you don’t really have anything tangible (like a growing bump) but I’m starting to relax. Sort of 😂
Italy sounds good! When are you thinking of going (sorry if I missed it!)

Lemonysherbet · 20/08/2019 13:47

Thanks @stormtrooperjulian I'll def get lots of plans in place to make time fly 😁

Hey @LokiCat I've put it in a few diff apps and it varies from 20-27th April, so I'm a bit baffled 😂 how do you work it out from ovulation date, is it 38 weeks?

MrsEG · 20/08/2019 13:57

Congrats @Lemonysherbet - the midwives will initially date you from your last period, there’s a due date calculator on the NHS site. Then you get your ‘proper’ date at the 12-week dating scan :)

@Tropicana1 Great price for those prams! Have you got yours sorted yet?

@MrsR16 Not long to go at all! So are you expecting a Christmas baby or a little earlier?

@stormtrooperjulian 20 working days will absolutely fly by! That’s no time at all! You can be on complete wind down now!

@LokiCat @ELW85 I know, it’s crazy but exciting! 4 months just sounds like absolutely nothing but at least I have a bit more time before babies are here!

So my sister goes to a spiritualist (I am very sceptical myself) but my sister thinks she knows the sex of our babies! I’m almost tempted to ask her just to see if she’s right or wrong after our next scan haha! For the record - she predicted my sister would have a boy and she had a girl!!

BostonFern · 20/08/2019 15:55

@Lemonysherbet congratulations! I second the eat what you can, whilst you can approach!

Hope everyone's having a good day, I've mostly had a lazy day, although spent a couple of hours with my nephew. Think I'm going to go put some more of the baby's clothes away before settling down with a book for a bit.

LokiCat · 20/08/2019 16:19

@ELW85 haha I don't blame you! I had a slight panic to myself today because my boobs didn't feel as sore anymore. Had to pretty much feel them up in the toilet to calm myself 🙈
I'm sure seeing the amazing scan on Sunday made it feel more real! I can't wait till my first scan.
We're thinking of either for October/November. We initially had planned for somewhere next year but I think I may be too uncomfortable by then.
DH has also mentioned Switzerland, so who knows where we'll end up going 😂

@Lemonysherbet one of the apps I'm using is Pregnancy+ which lets you put in conception date where I put my ovulation date. The NHS due date calculator said the day after, so they're all pretty similar. Dating scan will obviously be best!

@MrsEG haha interesting to see what the spiritualist thinks you'll be having - although she obviously doesn't have a great record if she got your sisters wrong!
What do you think you're having?

Meeting some friends for dinner after work, may also do a bit of shopping. They don't know yet so at least I won't be tempted by any baby clothes!
Hope you all have a great evening 😊
