@MrsR16 - good luck!! I’m done with building works after the bathrooms 😂

@MrsEG - enjoy the scan today! Can’t wait to hear about it x

MrsR16 · 14/09/2019 10:26

@MrsH497 oh I bet that definitely helped! I'm so pleased for you that you're here 😊 and omg, Brendan?!? You lucky thing! I loved him on strictly - he always defended his partner to the high hilt!

@ELW85 thanks lovely, just waiting for the quote to come through now 😕 we bought a house that needed a fair bit of work to it! However, we're getting there now - only a couple of rooms left to do! But they'll take a back seat for now until we can afford to do them properly 😊

MrsH497 · 14/09/2019 10:54

@MrsEG enjoy your scan!!
@MrsR16 he was always so lovely didn't deserve the "bad boy" rep at all. I'm so unbelievably happy to be here still feels completely surreal though.

Had the best sleep and listening to the red kites calling outside our house is just the best! Only got to do 2 days at work next week before I'm off for a few days! X

MrsEG · 14/09/2019 12:39

We are having two boys!! 💙💙
The scan was amazing, she did a full well-being check and they both look great and twin 2 did a full somersault while we were there!! I burst in to tears as soon as I left the room haha!

MrsH497 · 14/09/2019 13:00

OMG @MrsEG that's amazing news!!! Congratulations on you boys!! So happy for you xx

Fivebyfive2 · 14/09/2019 13:54

@MrsEG, that's awesome news!! Sooo... Tommy and Arthur?! 🤔 Aaaagh, I love it, it is so exciting to find out and how brilliant that one did a little flip at the scan!! I'm so happy for you xxxx

We've just picked up some More baby stuff, a travel cot and extra steriliser for my mums house, IKEA High chair & blackout sheet for windows, all from my mums neighbour who is having a clear out 🙂 Also, mum and dad are apparently buying us an IKEA cot bed and mattress that we saw earlier this week! Dh is getting a bit overwhelmed with all the stuff, bless him... His exact words this morning "how many places to sleep does this baby need?!" 😂

Hi ladies, hope you're all having a wonderful weekend.

@TrashKitten10 yes, another teacher ☺️ I'm hoping I'll last until half term, just taking it day by day and if I can't last then I'll just have to accept it!

@ELW85 so pleased your scan went well! Lovely scan photos too.

@stormtrooperjulian Oh, turning over in bed- does it get much worse? I'm nearly 30 weeks here and it's already a twenty point turn or something ridiculous to turn over 😭

@MrsEG Both jabs are definitely worth it. I had whooping cough years ago, it was terrifying enough as an adult, I can't imagine what it's like for a child.
Just seen you are having two boys-amazing news! 💙💙

@LokiCat one of my closest work colleagues worked out I was pregnant (4 days after I found out!) because I could not stop running to the toilets to wee! Thankfully that seemed to get better in the second trimester, third trimester seems to be back to running to the ladies lots again though!

@Fivebyfive2 sounds like your baby is doing well already! I think my DP feels the same- we will have the cot, next to me crib, Moses basket for downstairs, then the pram 😂 Then there's all the other bits that'll be around the house for baby, like the playmat and bouncy chair. DP is however enjoying looking for anything dinosaur related, I really hope our boy grows up to like dinosaurs!

I've had a quiet couple of days, started to get visual disturbances and a headache on Thursday-and long story short ended up at the hospital being checked over for pre-eclampsia. Thankfully got the all clear, and they think it might have been a migraine. Still feeling a bit yucky today, so just resting up for now.

MrsR16 · 14/09/2019 17:24

@MrsEG super happy for you!! Two boys? Goodness! 😊 xxx

ELW85 · 14/09/2019 17:34

@BostonFern - thank you! Your migraine sounds absolutely awful. Are you feeling any better? Great that they were so thorough though and checked you for pre-eclampsia.

@MrsEG - congratulations!! What wonderful news!! Tommy and Arthur as per your DH’s suggestion?!

TrashKitten10 · 14/09/2019 18:46

@thumper59 The theory begins the hippy candles and surges vs contractions is fascinating but I like that you can take as much or as little from it as you want and even just using the breathing techniques will help. Definitely look into it :) You poor thing, that sounds painful, hope the bath eased it a bit. Naps are definitely the way forward. I've been in bed by about 8 all week 😂

@LokiCat It's so unfair. When you really need all the sympathy and looking after is when you don't want anybody to know you're pregnant. Then as soon as you tell people and start getting all the looking after is when you get your second trimester burst of energy and feel on top of the world. I think I maybe spoke a bit soon as Friday was really hard and I was terribly uncomfortable all day at work. Hoping a nice restful weekend will set me up ready for next week. Hope you begin to feel better quickly.

@BabySquid Your weekend plans sound lovely. Hope it's as lovely and sunny for you as it is here! I've been to see my family today and ate lots of cake so the weekend is going great so far ☺️

@ELW85 so happy your scan went well and the photo is fab! Wonder if your baby and DH will end up sharing a birthday!

@cupcakesandglitter Bet it was fab seeing your baby, although a worry having to go in for pains. Also great news you are feeling better, hopefully that means you are coming out the other side of the first trimester yukkiness.

@MrsEG Two boys! Fabulous! And that was my guess 😌 I've got two sets of twins in my class this year and the girl/girl twins are FIESTY and had a full on physical fight this week with one twin pinning down the other twin and battering them 😳 (preschoolers so not as vicious as it sounds and they were easily pulled apart Grin) By contrast the boy/boy twins I had before were best mates. By my very limited experience you therefore have the easier combination 😂

@BostonFern Are you primary or secondary? Yeah I'm taking the same attitude about reaching half term. Some days I feel fine but others I think there is no way I will still be on my feet at 37 weeks. We shall see! Are your school being supportive?

MrsH497 · 14/09/2019 19:41

So DH is working I ordered a pizza thought ooh I'll treat myself to ice cream (caramel chew chew) pizza arrives it's chocolate fudge brownie and ice just shed tears omg get a grip!

LokiCat · 14/09/2019 20:46

Hi ladies! Hope you've had a lovely Saturday 😊 I met up with a friend for lunch which was lovely and the weather was absolutely brilliant!

@ELW85 ahh I hope you've had a nice Saturday with DH so far. How crazy that your due date is the day before his birthday!
I'm a lot better now, thank you. I had a very relaxing day today and I think that's helped as well. Ooh what's your theory? I've got one as well! DH is too busy critiquing them on the correct police procedures 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

@purplefig thanks!! I really recommend the show. I hope the bath helped you last night :)

@Fivebyfive2 I'm only 8 weeks, however I was feeling quite constipated this week and so I think having something quite high in fibre resulted in the increase in loo dashes 😂
I did read that pregnancy can cause increased BM/digestive issues so it's most likely that. I agree though it's very annoying when you're finally settled back to work and have to go again 🙈

@MrsEG awww two boys! Congratulations! So happy for you and that everything was okay at the scan. I hope you and DH have a nice evening of celebrating :)

@BostonFern I wouldn't be surprised if one of my colleagues picks it up, nothing seems to get past her!
Sorry to hear about the migraines, how awful - glad it was all clear re checks for pre-eclampsia. I hope resting helps!

@TrashKitten10 definitely! When my colleagues offer me something at work and I'm constantly refusing (which is very unlike me) I wish I could just tell them it's because I'll most likely throw it back up if I eat it rather than just being rude 😂
Ahh sorry to hear you had an uncomfortable day! It must be difficult being on your feet for so long. I do hope you have a very relaxing weekend.

So, I've been debating whether to book a private scan for next weekend when I'll be 9 weeks. My 12 week scan isn't until mid-October, which seems so far away. Also I couldn't see much at the EPU when I had my scan because it was still early (and I was too busy crying with relief 🙈).
Those that did have an early scan, are you glad you booked one in the end (I imagine most will say yes as it must have been nice seeing your baby early haha)?

cupcakesandglitter · 14/09/2019 21:00

Ahhhh @MrsEG fantastic news!!! Tommy and Arthur would be so cute 🥰 x

@MrsH497 omg no definitely worth crying over 😂 if it makes you feel better, I had to sit in EAT earlier to stop myself from throwing up in public, and I welled up because I imagined myself ordering cake and they told me they didn't have any (in my head) ... queue the tears. Pregnancy joys eh 😂

Ooh yay @Fivebyfive2 how exciting!! How nice of them to get you the cot too 🥰 x

@BostonFern as crappy as it is that you're getting migraines, glad to hear it's all okay and not pre eclampsia xx

Thankyou @TrashKitten10 god I hope so 😂 I am DONE with first trimester! Hoping I get that surge of energy and look/feel as good as all of you 😂 x

@LokiCat I've had so many but I couldn't recommend them anymore - my 12w scan felt ages away which is why I booked my first private one - they're nicer than NHS ones IMO and really really special, and reassuring too xx

I can't believe I'm 11 weeks tomorrow 😮 I'm sure my belly is starting to pop a bit more at the bottom but I have IBS so when I'm bloated I look 7months anyway 😂 I went out to find maternity clothes today but have pushed myself way too hard, didn't buy anything and I'm super tired 😓

ELW85 · 15/09/2019 07:17

@TrashKitten10 - I was thinking that they’ll end up sharing a birthday! I think as long as there is cake in abundance, DH would love it!

@LokiCat - so pleased you’re feeling better and you had a nice lunch with your friend 😊
Well my theory is that ‘they’ (whoever they are; military/CIA working with military/private corporation etc) have tested anti PTSD or anti fear drugs on certain soldiers, and the effects are that they can almost be programmed to carry out whatever the military needs them to, with no regard for their own safety, and suppresses the memories. The CCTV case at the start was just a red herring.
Not that I overthink anything 😂

Happy Sunday everyone! We’re going for brekkie soon and then dinner (much later) to a new Mexican place at the coast with my brother.
I was 13w yesterday and I know it’s early but I swear I felt movement. It almost felt like a light scratch on the inside!

MrsEG · 15/09/2019 07:24

@MrsH497 @Fivebyfive2 @BostonFern @MrsR16 @ELW85 @TrashKitten10 @LokiCat @cupcakesandglitter Thank you ladies, it was the most fabulous experience I can’t recommend a gender/sex scan more! She looked at their brains and all their organs and said they looked great. They were both very obviously boys too!! I have always imagined myself a boy mum, were very sporty outdoorsy people so I am so excited. DH is already looking in to how soon he can get them in to rugby!! By the time we had gotten to the car too we’d picked our names - it’s like as soon as we knew what they were it came to us so easily!

We then went to the TAMBA twins workshop which was really excellent, so much practical advice and loads of information re: official guidelines on all things twins. Some of it was a little overwhelming but I think all parenthood is! We just have to do it with two at once haha, but they stressed the importance of help and I have both my Mum and sister less than 10 mins away so I have help on tap :)

@Fivebyfive2 Sounds like a super productive day! I literally haven’t bought a single thing but the workshop has really inspired me to get a move on now! One of the facilitators had her twins at 33 weeks, I was counting like okayyyy that isn’t far off at all!!

@BostonFern Sorry to read you’ve had a worrying few days! Really good news it isn’t pre-eclampsia though. Look after yourself!

@TrashKitten10 Haha! I can so imagine it - there’s only a year between me and my sister (they call us Irish twins ha!) and we fought like boxers!! Took a very long time for us to become friends! I hope that boys will be much more chill!!

@LokiCat Private scans in those early days are a totally personal choice; as I was under consultant care I had 3 at 6.5, 7.5 and 9.5 and I would get sick with nerves beforehand which wasn’t great, but that feeling of reassurance when the scan was okay was amazing. I think it comes down to you - if you feel it would help with any anxieties, then absolutely go for it!

@cupcakesandglitter 11 weeks! That’s flown! I was extremely bloated in the first trimester, it went away around 13 weeks and just left the bump! I find mat clothes easier to get online, New Look and BooHoo are really good :)

PippaPug · 15/09/2019 08:04

@MrsEG - congratulations on the two boys, how very exciting for you!

Fivebyfive2 · 15/09/2019 08:39

@ELW85, it could be movement, I didn't feel it until about 16 weeks, but it was as you described, like an itch or a tickle, inside. I said it was like a ladybird walking across the inside of my tummy! It will proper come and go though, so try not to worry if you don't always feel it. I had a bit of a panic around 17 weeks but thankfully the ladies on here are fantastic for reassuring! Xxx

@lokicat, yep, stomach issues are the norm I think! Mine has been OK this weekend, not sure how long it will last though! Glad you felt OK and had a nice day 🙂

@MrsH497, omg I loved Brenden!! Don't feel silly for ice cream related sadness.... When we were on holiday when I was 11 weeks, I actually cried because the hotel buffet breakfast had ran out of croissants 😂

@cupcakesandglitter, 11 weeks already, that's gone so fast!!

@MrsEG, glad the workshop was useful! Will you do a spreadsheet?? I find them really helpful 🤓 Oooo how exciting you already know the names!! We're still deciding. Think we're just gonna do a shortlist and name him when he's 'out'!

Ladies, dh finally felt Little Homer kick last night 😀 He seems to have stepped up he movements recently, I was in the shower and I actually saw skin 'jump up' a bit where I felt the kick! It's amazing 😍 Got a tad emotional!

I also can't believe it's Mid September... I swear it was August last week?! It will be Christmas soon ladies!!! 😂🎅

Hope every one has a lovely Sunday! Xxx

MrsEG · 15/09/2019 09:13

@PippaPug Thanks lovely!

@Fivebyfive2 Oh there will definitely be a spreadsheet haha! I also just managed to grab a brilliant baby bouncer on marketplace so I have finally made my first purchase! Ah that's so amazing to be seeing movement how awesome!!
Yeah, DH has one name he just loves so that was a given and then we said the other two we like out loud and immediately agreed on one over the other! We're gonna keep the names to ourselves I think, that can be the surprise for everyone when they're here (plus I just don't want anyone's judgement on them either ha!)

@ELW85 Wow that is really early, I was even told with twins to look out from 14 weeks! Mine definitely feels like a little itch from the inside though; I feel it a lot more on the right but I discovered yesterday one twin has a posterior placenta and one anterior so that makes sense - I'll feel one much more than the other! But yesterday I was feeling tickles on the right hand side lots :)

cupcakesandglitter · 15/09/2019 09:40

Ahhh @MrsEG how exciting that youve picked their names!! Totally understand you wanting to surprise everyone, can't wait to see them and hear what you've gone for! I've got a maternity dungarees from new look but they're far too big at the minute - I need some maternity leggings and jeans, but again with jeans I don't know if it's because of the bump or because I've lost weight, but they're just far too big!! I'm going to have to do some online shopping x

@Fivebyfive2 tell me about it 😓 I've never got this far though and so I'm just praying that next week everything's okay and I can let everyone know!! I'm thinking family at 12w and then friends etc at maybe 14w but then we don't have another scan booked so I'm not too sure what I'm waiting for 😂 oh how lovely he got to feel little Homer!! How amazing is that!!! 😭🥰

MrsEG · 15/09/2019 11:26

@cupcakesandglitter I’ve given up on dungarees, I’ve tried 3 now and none fit well at all! boohoo are good for jeans, cheap and very comfy!

I meant to upload this pic before too - I don’t know if you can properly make it out but when they first put the wand on my belly both twins were looking at each other! One was facing up and the other down - it looked like they were all snuggled up!! I still find it hard to get my head around sometimes that there’s two in there!!

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 6!
MrsH497 · 15/09/2019 11:36

Thanks ladies made me feel better for ice cream related tears! Ooh I'm contemplating a denim pinafore dress for a bit of expansion room! Barely did anything yesterday the tiredness is real but no real symptoms as yet.
5 weeks now!

MrsH497 · 15/09/2019 12:00

Also what pregnancy vitamins are best? I'm just finishing up my last of my folic acid so need to get some more x

Fivebyfive2 · 15/09/2019 12:07

@MrsH497, I take the Boots Pregnancy Plus ones. It's one vitamin tablet and 1 omega 3 capsule. They're pretty reasonable and didn't block me up like Pregacare did... But they do taste vial ☹️

OP posts:
MrsH497 · 15/09/2019 12:10

Thanks @Fivebyfive2 I'll head to boots and have a look

BostonFern · 15/09/2019 13:22

@ELW85 @LokiCat @cupcakesandglitter @MrsEG thanks. Migraine has gone but I'm feeling like I've got some kind of infection now, glands are up and I had such bad reflux last night (despite the prescription medication the consultant gave me last week) that I didn't really sleep as I had to sit propped up. Baby is still having a disco in my uterus though 😂

@TrashKitten10 I'm in 14-19 education, they're being really good thankfully. How about you?

@Fivebyfive2 how lovely that your DH felt little Homer kick!

@MrsEG that's a fabulous scan photo!

@MrsH497 I've been taking pregnacare max, I've got on ok with them but I know some people say they make them feel a bit rough.
