@GemmaJen Congrats again lovely - I think Rosa is absolutely beautiful for a name!

purplefig · 10/09/2019 09:15

@GemmaJen and not to mention 9lbs+ is a big baby! I'm sure you don't need me to tell you, but you've done an incredible job getting her here ❤️ you should definitely enjoy resting up and recuperating with your gorgeous girl while DH keeps things ticking over for a while. Do you know in some cultures, women get 40 days of rest to bond with the baby while her partner and family cook / clean / childcare etc. I keep trying to swing it as part of my postpartum plan- not having too much luck so far! Ooo and Rosa Lyra is an absolutely gorgeous name.

@MrsEG omg you're so right - even when you go into labour and ring the midwife unit apparently it's "have you tried two paracetamol and a hot bath?" 🤣. Oooo your app sounds wonderful - animals?! And a 3D view?! Should I add a third baby tracking app? God I'm such a FTM cliche. Oh speaking of apps - what do you reckon to Squeezy? I know it's only £2.99 but I am so incredibly stingy about paying for apps 😳

MrsEG · 10/09/2019 09:32

@purplefig Yep! When my sister went in to labour, when she first arrived the midwife said ‘I can tell by looking at you you’re not ready yet!’ And then told her to go home and come back ‘when the pain begins to take your breath away’!!! Luckily she managed a few hours sleep, woke up, waters went straight away and she was right in. It’s crazy!!
I only have Pregnancy + I think I could only manage one app, I log all my appts and things in to it too though so it’s handy!
Squeezy is pretty good - focuses on proper technique and it is reminding me to do it too, which I guess is the aim!

purplefig · 10/09/2019 09:53

@MrsEG "when the pain takes your breath away" - wow, what an uplifting and inspiring thought to leave her on 🙄. I've downloaded Squeezy...looks good but I've brought down to once a day. I'm not sure I could go from once a week at yoga to their rather militant sounding three times a day schedule.

MrsEG · 10/09/2019 10:05

@purplefig I know! She does say now she's given birth though she realises she was overreacting when she first went in, with period-like cramps. She said if they'd kept her in she'd have been there for days haha. It's hard when you've never been through it before though, how are you supposed to know?! She said once her waters went though it ramped up really fast and that's when she really knew it was time!
I'm trying the three times a day and doing it most days. I do one set as soon as I get to my desk, one at lunch and one at home. I think making it routine has helped me!

stormtrooperjulian · 10/09/2019 13:06

@GemmaJen congratulations! She's beautiful and Rosa is a lovely name.

@thumper59 your baby shower looked epic, so kind of your parents to do that for you! I love your dress too, you look amazing

@cupcakesandglitter sorry to hear you're still feeling rough, hopefully you'll start feeling better soon now you're heading for the second trimester

@MrsEG I can't believe how quickly your bump is growing! Internal itches sound promisingly like movements, have you felt anything else since then?

purplefig · 10/09/2019 13:37

@MrsEG exactly! And precise sensations and pain thresholds vary wildly from one person to another. I read something about calling once you're getting 3 contractions in 10. But I bet even that varies. Good for you doing 3 times a day - your midwife is going to be so impressed with you!

ELW85 · 10/09/2019 14:04

@MrsEG - hopefully you’re shifting it! I think the cold distracted me from the nausea and tiredness. Back to be exhausted now!

@purplefig - they’ve just changed the What to Expect app, so you can scroll and get different size points of reference other than fruit! I had a little explore today 😊 I love the pregnancy + app though!

How’s everyone doing? I feel like this week is dragging!
Bathrooms have finally gotten finished though, so that epic project is over!

TrashKitten10 · 10/09/2019 15:15

@GemmaJen Rosa is absolutely beautiful! Well done and congratulations

@purplefig The sling sounds like a bargain! I know what you mean about work, I just want to be off with my baby, work has moved massively down my priorities.

@PippaPug Your risks are still really low. I think anything more than 1 in 100 they look a bit more into so you're way off that.

@BabySquid Can't believe you're 18 weeks already, only feels a couple of weeks ago you joined the thread. Time is flying! Lovely that your bump is showing, how is your cold?

@thumper59 Your baby shower is gorgeous! You and baby are so lucky to have so many loving people around you :)

@cupcakesandglitter Sorry to hear you're still in the land of morning sickness. Hopefully it will ease soon as you head towards the second trimester

@MrsEG Exciting that you might have felt movement. Hopefully it will happen again to confirm. Mine felt like a little muscle twitch but I've heard people describe many different sensations.

@BostonFern We must be starting our maternity leave at pretty similar times, I'm on 28 working days left and counting!

Just had my midwife appointment at 31+6 and all is still looking good and low risk. We've been doing more hypnobirthing from the Positive Birth Company and DH is so on board bless him. He says it all makes sense how fear, panic and anxiety affects labour and birth and is now super hot on making sure we are not being negative around the thought of it. His mum is constantly negative and loves to tell me how absolutely awful and agonising birth is and DH keeps telling her all about the positive thinking, that I will be amazing and that it's what my body is designed to do, completely putting down all of her negative comments. He was reluctant to even have a go at hypnobirthing and now he's more into it than me! Grin I know that positive thinking won't stop interventions and problems from occurring but I love that we both now get the science of how it all works and have some strategies to keep me calm however birth progresses.

thumper59 · 10/09/2019 15:34

@MrsEG Thankyou I loved it it was a fabulous day!! I hope your feeling a bit better today. Colds and being pregnant are not a nice mix 😖. I can't really remember what the first movements really was, but I've read someone explain it was your tongue on the inside of your cheek and that was how the first definite movements felt. Sometimes now it feels like he tickles my lower belly and out of all the kicks and wriggles that's the weirdest feeling!

@purplefig Thankyou, they're great 😊. I don't know what the weather is like where you are but it's gotten much colder here the last few days and that makes me lose the will to work too!

@MrsR16 I can't believe your nearly 26 weeks already!! Aww Thankyou. I absolutely loved it xx

@ELW85 Thankyou, It was lovely to have our fave people and a lovely afternoon tea 😊 not long to go now. I'm sure everything will be fine! 34 is a great age to be pregnant x

@BostonFern it was amazing Thankyou! Haha I counted this morning that I have 28 working days left and I am more than ready for them to be done with!! I might still pop in afterwards, but it'll be nice to be 'finished' so to speak and I won't feel any guilt by not being here 9-5 and the work won't be directly on my shoulders!

@stormtrooperjulian aw Thankyou so much 💙 I'm very lucky to have them! Hope your well xx

@TrashKitten10 Thankyou, we really are! The hypnobirting sounds great. I haven't done anything much really in the way of learning hypnobirthing but I like the general jist of it and I am too hoping to use the breathing techniques etc through labour (if I can!)

BostonFern · 10/09/2019 16:35

@MrsR16 your two and a half months will fly by too!

@purplefig I'll be 35 and a half weeks pretty much by then, half term has fallen pretty well for going off on mat leave!

@TrashKitten10 sounds like we will be going off at similar times, I bet you can't wait either now! We feel the same about the hypnobirthing/positive birthing company course-I feel in a much better place mentally already.

@thumper59 I know what you mean about work guilt, I'm having to slow down now, and I feel a bit guilty, but baby and health have to come first so I'm just having to hope others understand.

Hope you've all had a good day, today was my 'quiet' teaching day, much needed as I woke up feeling exhausted! I guess that's how I'm going to feel for the next 18 years or so now 😂

BabySquid · 10/09/2019 16:53

@TrashKitten10 tell me about it! Cold keeps changing its mind, one min I'm fine with just sniffles, next min I fully can't breathe and eyes and streaming! Fml!
I love how your DH is so on board with the hypnobirthing, even basically telling his mother off! Wish my DH would have a word! He's an only child and she absolutely dotes on him but everything she says to me is about her one experience and thinking I'll go through the exact same! It's really annoying!!

@thumper59 I love how everyone reading that will be putting their tongue on their cheek!!

MrsR16 · 10/09/2019 18:10

So I've spent a couple of hours in hospital today! Had a real pain across my bump... wondered if it was Braxton Hicks or not. Called the midwife, as the pain got worse, they suggested I take paracetamol and see how I go. Ended up getting even worse so went to see them! Bloods taken, no real explanation as to what's happening, so I'm going to make the most of a quiet evening and just see how I go 😊 baby's still moving loads, so I know it's ok! Xx

BostonFern · 10/09/2019 18:48

Oh no @MrsR16 I'm glad you went and got checked out, hopefully it eases off soon.

MrsEG · 10/09/2019 19:14

@stormtrooperjulian I have, I’ve felt the same itch/tickle feeling again this afternoon in the same places, I guess I’ll just see if it carries on over the next few days!

@purplefig Ha I know, I’m hoping I’ll be like a stat pelvic exercise student! I think it was my sisters comment about Tena ladies that really sprang me in to action in the end!! I know - pain is so relative so who even knows when to go in or now - one friend of mine managed to breathe through her contractions at home for so long that she was 8cm dilated by the time she got to hospital! If she’d left it much longer she’d have given birth in the car!!

@ELW85 I am feeling better today, much less coughing! Think staying wrapped up at home must have helped. Ahh glad the bathroom is finished! All ready for those baby baths!

@TrashKitten10 How lovely that DH is getting so into it too! Sounds like you’re both in a really good mindset about it all :) not long at all now! How are you feeling?

@thumper59 I bet that feels so weird, in a good way!! What I’m feeling is definitely more of an itch/tickle so I’m either completely imagining it or they’re not very strong yet!

@BostonFern Haha, Yep I guess now is the time to prepare yourself for feeling shattered!! Have a nice early night :)

@MrsR16 Oh gosh, hope you’re okay and good on you for going and getting it checked. Glad to hear baby is still wriggling about though! Maybe they’ve hit a rib or a nerve? Feel better soon!

I had such a stressful work day today but have ended the day getting my hair re-coloured so have had some lovely pampering and a fabulous head massage! All ready for bake off now!! Have a nice evening ladies

MrsR16 · 10/09/2019 19:43

@BostonFern @MrsEG thanks ladies, I'm doing ok! Just taking it easy for now 😊 xx

purplefig · 11/09/2019 07:58

@MrsEG yeah Tena ladies is quite the motivation 😳 how's your cold today? Hope you have a less stressful day at work.

@MrsR16 glad all was ok - how're you doing today?

@BostonFern oh excellent timing!! That'll be around before you know it. I can't imagine teaching and being being pregnant - you Wonder Woman!

@TrashKitten10 yes I was chuffed with the sling as it retails for £70 🙀 glad you got a lot out of TPB too. My DH sounds just like yours with it, he's so into it and I love that it's given him a clear role in everything.

@ELW85 oooo I'll have to check that out! I o my really have WTE for the weekly update videos, I don't pole around much in there otherwise. How're you doing today lovely?

Think my headaches might be down to not eating enough. Bit of a weird one, but I've just not felt much hunger lately, and, stupidly, haven't been eaten much. What a wally. Trying to make more effort this week and see if it makes a difference. Have a fab Wednesday everyone!

purplefig · 11/09/2019 08:36

@ELW85 hello typos 😳🤣 meant to say I only really have it for the weekly vids and don't poke around much in there otherwise 😅

MrsR16 · 11/09/2019 08:38

@purplefig I'm doing ok today, woke up without any pain! Car journey to work was uneventful too, no pain or uncomfortableness which is brilliant 😊 hope your headaches clear up! They're not much fun xx

purplefig · 11/09/2019 08:41

@MrsR16 ahhh that's great to hear! Hope you have a better day today.

Just reread my last post. The typos. My eyes!!! Remind me not to post before I'm caffeinated in future!!

ELW85 · 11/09/2019 09:38

@TrashKitten10 - pleased to hear it went well and you’re still low risk!

@thumper59 - thank you, what a lovely thing to say! I genuinely feel ready to have our little one, and that I’m in a relatively stable (as much as you can be!) place to start a family, so feeling good about it! X

@purplefig - haha! This site is terrible for not auto correcting to be fair 😊 I’m feeling pretty good thank you. The nausea was very real yesterday and I had a very pregnant day (if you know what I mean?) that has rolled over to today, but I’m feeling good for it!
I totally get the food aversion thing; you can only really do what you can do though, so be kind to yourself and stay hydrated x

@MrsEG - your pampering sounds perfect! I’ve got GBBO to catch up on tonight. I’ve heard it’s bread week. Only the best thing ever, so no doubt I’ll be trying to eat the TV whilst it’s on 😂

MrsEG · 11/09/2019 11:27

@MrsR16 Glad to hear you’re feeling better today!

@purplefig Cold is fairly awful today! I have actually felt similar recently about food - I don’t seem hungry or bothered much but I’m forcing it down to feed the babies! I’m finding just having a lot of snacks in is good as when I can’t be arsed making a meal I’ll just have a load of cheese and fruit!

@ELW85 GBBO was fab, all I wanted by the end was a big bread basket with a load of butter and cheese!!

Having a weird work day today; they’ve been fab with me, but I almost feel they are wrapping me in cotton wool a bit. I’ve had all major events taken off me (I’m more of an ‘over-see’ these days) but today I’ve also had both of my line reports taken off me?! I honestly don’t know how I’ll keep myself busy til Christmas if it carries on like this!

MrsR16 · 11/09/2019 13:30

@purplefig @MrsEG so far so good! I do wonder if baby was lying on a nerve or something, or if I'd strained my abdo muscles or something similarly stupid... but all is good!

@purplefig I gave up trying to decipher what you'd actually said 😂 genuinely made my day though! Hehe

@MrsEG i bet it can be a little strange! My workload hasn't changed yet... scared the crap out of people yesterday though, so we'll see!! This'll make you giggle - the first aider (the whole 1 we have for an office of 75 odd people) wasn't aware I was pregnant lol obviously HR decided it wasn't important to tell him! 😂😂😂

MrsEG · 11/09/2019 14:14

@MrsR16 Maybe! Definitely always worth getting it checked out though :)
That’s ridiculous!! Surely of all people the trained first aider should be one of the first to know! Our Ops team are giving me a hard time after I requested a back support for my chair, they’ve asked me a million Qs why - apparently ‘because I’m carrying twins and everything hurts’ wasn’t good enough!!
