Quiet on here this weekend, hope everyone is OK?!

Collected my New Look order, the jeans are perfect but the dress is going back, it makes me look like a Victorian Widow 😂 Which actually I'd usually be quite up for, but might look a bit odd at work!

We've got a family thing on dh's side, he's a bit mift because they said it was a pig roast but has been downgraded to the usual buffet stuff ☹️ Should be a nice afternoon though.

@Fivebyfive2 did you win that wardrobe you wanted? I just tried expressing colostrum for the first time, with DH helping by sucking the droplets into the syringe. I got a full syringe from one boob but only 1/5 full from the other, right boob is definitely slacking!

ELW85 · 08/09/2019 13:52

@Fivebyfive2 - I’ve got such a bad cold; I’ve basically not moved in two days. Trying not to worry that it’s affecting little one 😢

Fivebyfive2 · 08/09/2019 13:59

@stormtrooperjulian, that's awesome you're able to express even a little! Love that your dh helped 😀 I have indeed won the wardrobe, just arranging the collection for next weekend!! Very exciting!

@ELW85, hope you feel better soon. Try not to worry, I think as long as you stay hydrated and rested you and baby will be fine. I'm a little worried my ongoing stomach stuff will affect Little Homer, but he is still moving around etc and midwife doesn't seem too worried. I keep telling myself that people all over the world, in all different conditions have babies... Not sure if it will help you but it sometimes makes me feel calmer! Xxx

MrsEG · 08/09/2019 14:23

@Fivebyfive2 Great news on the IKEA stuff! Enjoy the buffet today :) Yeah I've been quiet this weekend, I've got a stinking cold too like @ELW85 - I haven't worried once about babies though (terrible mother?) I didn't even think a cold could affect them!! I'm just drinking gallons of water and resting up. Annoyingly it's moved to my throat a bit today and I've a rotten cough but I don't have a temp or anything so I think it's the change in seasons!

@stormtrooperjulian Well done on expressing! Boobs must be good and ready haha!

I'm battling through a cold to try and clear our spare room at the moment - I can't believe how much crap is in there! It's actually shocking how much rubbish one couple can accumulate! DH is off to the recycling centre soon and I reckon his car will be completely full!
Although we did find our dogs first ever collar when he was a puppy and I cried my eyes out - hashtag hormones indeed!
Happy Sunday all - @thumper59 hope you had a great baby shower!

MrsEG · 08/09/2019 14:26

Oh also, huge news - I ordered a maternity support belt today on the advice of my consultant and yoga teacher AND some rather sexy over-bump maternity knickers too - DH said we could use them as contraception next year 😂 My bump is so big it now matches the size of my sisters on pics of her at 6 months!! I need all the support I can get!

ELW85 · 08/09/2019 14:29

@Fivebyfive2 - you’ve massively cheered me up with the Victorian widow comment 😂 I hope you have a lovely buffet but I’d be a bit miffed if I had a roast in mind!
Thanks for the reassurance; I’m sure the little one is fine, it’s just one more thing to think about!
I’m pleased little Homer is doing well and the midwife isn’t worried. He’ll be going from strength to strength and it’s just needlessly on our minds.

@MrsEG - sorry to hear you’re poorly too! Good on you for battling through; that’s usually me but I’m just zapped.
Hormones have got a lot to answer for but the puppy collar does sound adorable 😊
And you’re not terrible for not thinking about it; I just over analyse things!

MrsEG · 08/09/2019 14:59

@ELW85 It never once occurred to me! I just googled it too and apparently a cold won't hurt baby at all. The biggest kick in the nuts is that we can't just take a Sudafed and some ibuprofen and crack on!! So don't worry, baby will be just fine :)
Oh it was so adorable, it was so small it fit in the palm of my hand. Considering he's now a 5 stone husky I can't even remember him being so teeny!

ELW85 · 08/09/2019 15:10

@MrsEG - I know! I’ve had some paracetamol though; my head has been banging and I really needed it or I wouldn’t have slept last night. Kept it to a minimum though!
Aww - how old is doggo now? I’d love one but DH says we’re too busy with work.
I remember seeing a photo before I think, and your husky is gorgeous!

BabySquid · 08/09/2019 16:39

@Fivebyfive2 I quite like the idea of a Victorian widow haha as long as you can pull it off!

@MrsEG isn't it amazing how much stuff two people can put in one spare room haha! Too true about the sudafed too, usually I'd have popped a few day/night nurse to take care of my cold and it'd be gone in a couple of days... 2 weeks later and I'm still blowing my nose!!

Had a good look round the mamas and papas outlet today, picked which furniture set we want and it's £649 instead of £1199!! We also picked up an end of line bedside rocker crib with mattress and covers for £50 instead of like £135!
My friends baby shower yesterday was great too, her cake was so good and had a slidable top so you didn't cut into the people on top! Pic attached (taken at the best angle!)

Hope everyone's good??

MrsEG · 08/09/2019 17:09

@ELW85 he's just turned 4! They are a handful - were lucky really as I can WFH a lot and DH is self employed so he's never usually without company for too long. Only problem now is that I want another 🙈

@BabySquid Oh man how I miss day and night nurse!! You'd have a cold shaken in a weekend!! I've been popping satsumas instead haha!
Ooh I'll have to see if there's any outlets near to us as that sounds fantastic!! Bet you can't wait to get it all set up now!
Haha I love that cake - especially the husband!!

BostonFern · 08/09/2019 18:14

Thanks @Fivebyfive2! What a lovely friend, 🤞 the crib fits!

@stormtrooperjulian sounds like you've done really well starting to harvest colostrum.

@ELW85 and @MrsEG I hope your colds go soon.

@BabySquid that was a really good reduction!
Your friends baby shower cake is brilliant too!

We had a busy day yesterday, attended a wedding ceremony and evening reception. In between we went to a nearly new sale, picked up lots of clothes that were 20p or 50p and I managed to get the Disney Finding Nemo play mat that I've been hoping for, it looks hardly used and I got it for a third of the price it would be new.
Today we've been out with my parents, brother, sister in law, niece and nephew-had a lovely time, but I'm tired now!
Here's a picture of the baby bump yesterday at 28+3.

MrsEG · 08/09/2019 18:31

@BostonFern Fabulous bump! And lovely dress too! Hope the wedding was good fun :) We've been to none this year, compared to the 4 we had last year! Sounds like you've had a busy weekend. There's a few nearly new sales local to me in October so I'm going to pop along to a few - I know the Nemo mat you mean too, it's fab!!

Jessikka · 08/09/2019 18:38

Evening Ladies!

Got to see my little bubs today! Had a private scan and I'm measuring 8w1d which is spot on for what i thought which is great. Nice heartbeat of 157 which we saw flutter away and it was amazing!
Told our parents and close family today and there were alot of tears and hugs - I'm drained now!! Haha

Hope you had a nice weekend 🤰💖

ELW85 · 08/09/2019 20:27

@BabySquid - wow, some excellent bargains there! I don’t think there’s an outlet near us, but I’ve been keeping an eye on the Emma’s Diary offers.

@MrsEG - it’s great that you have the home time between you and DH to look after doggo. You’ll have your hands full soon enough with the little ones though, so maybe wait a while 😂

@BostonFern - lovely bump!!

@Jessikka - congratulations on the scan! It’s so wonderful to get that reassurance and to see the heartbeat isn’t it?

BostonFern · 08/09/2019 20:38

Thank you @MrsEG Yes, I love the light up Mr Ray on the play mat, hopefully baby will too!

How lovely @Jessikka , so pleased your scan went well.

Thank you @ELW85

MrsR16 · 08/09/2019 21:11

Hi ladies! I've been super AWOL recently! It's wonderful to see you getting on alright though. @BostonFern that's one gorgeous bump! And a beautiful dress!

@MrsEG my hound is 3 and they're just incredible, aren't they? I'd love to have another dog, but I think we'll see how we get on with the baby first! 😂

@Jessikka fantastic to see your scan was ok and your baby's all good! Isn't it wonderful to be able to tell some people now?

@BabySquid sounds like you did really well today! I haven't got a mamas and papas near me at all, let alone an outlet!

@Fivebyfive2 I was out with my volunteer role last night, so missed strictly but DH loves it too, so we watched it when we got home (at around 21:30!) 😂

Sorry to anyone I've missed! 😘

PippaPug · 09/09/2019 07:34

Hello everyone,

Sorry I have been very quiet, work has seriously been knocking me out doing up to 15 hour days and I’m exhausted by the end of it! I may be understanding what the midwifes are staying about it may be very hard for me to work till Christmas as I’m on my feet the whole day.

Thank you for all your mind messages last week, they did help (and make me cry more!) @ELW85 - it was supposed to be 9 days away but I only worked 62 mins yesterday Hmm so I ended up going home which was so lovely and split it up, I’m going back today however for the next 4 nights - but did me the world of good going home. Your cake looks fab, did you have any in the end?

@LokiCat - I was brave and wore my badge today! Got a seat within 2 stops and the babies are very happy I’m sitting down - I don’t have much balance now I’m pregnant, nothing to do with bump interestingly, my balance and judgement about spacial awareness just has gone!

@MrsEG - I’m temping but this employer knows I’m pregnant, she spotted the sea bands and I ended up telling her as we were going out for the day and I knew I would need snacks! She is lovely about it - and I knew she would be, but sadly other employers are not going to be.

@purplefig - I am wearing my badge with pride today! Managed to get a seat which is awesome but I’m now conscious someone will tell me I’m not pregnant enough for it or someone I know will see me wearing it!

@MrsR16 - glad your doing better, hope your still good!

Did anyone do the testing for Down’s syndrome/Edwards and Pataus at all?

My bump is finally showing - although I still look like I have eaten to much! Talking of eating, I’m just over 14 weeks now - did anyone find they are still quite fussy with food? For me it’s about the smells and texture and I can make myself gag just thinking about certain foods HmmConfusedBlush I was hoping it would go by now.

GemmaJen · 09/09/2019 07:41

Hi ladies, I know I've been MIA for most of August as we neared the end, but I'm happy to say LO arrived last week at 10:20pm on the 5th, weighing 9lb6oz at 38w6d. She is beautiful, and seems to have my red hair. We came home on Saturday and it's been amazing but also such a big adjustment. Hormones really don't do you any favours in those first few days 😬 She's currently snuggled up in bed next to me - the benefits of post feed snuggles 😊 So so happy 🥰

MrsR16 · 09/09/2019 08:44

@PippaPug morning lovely, thank you! Yeah, I'm all good 😊 still have lots of days where I feel so unattractive it's unreal, but I'll figure it out! 😂 yay for bump showing!! It's exciting!

@GemmaJen oh wow, look at your little girl! She's just adorable! Congratulations!!!

purplefig · 09/09/2019 09:20

Happy Monday all! How're we all doing? I'm 18 weeks today - time seems to be flying!

We went to a baby nearly new sale yesterday and got some absolute bargains including a baby bjorn carrier/sling for £5! They have them monthly here, so once we know if we're having a boy or a girl we're going to go stock up on clothes (couldn't see a lot of unisex stuff).

Other than it was a pretty chilled weekend of beach dog walks (lovely now tourist season is winding down), dinner date and putting up frames and making plans for the nursery. Don't really feel like work today though! In all honesty, I do feel like pregnancy has lessened my ambition in that department.

@PippaPug good for you - you are doubly deserving of a seat mate!! We did the test at 12 weeks for Down's syndrome etc. It doesn't tell you conclusively just gives you high or low odds. If high they offer further tests, if low (mine was something like 1 in 6000) they don't.

@GemmaJen congrats on your beautiful babe - she looks so content! How're you doing?

@Jessikka ahh fab news - it's such an amazing sight isn't it??

@BostonFern gorgeous dress - where did you get it from? Slightly selfish request as I have a wedding coming up next month!

@BabySquid oh my goodness that cake!! 🤣 congrats on your discounted nursery furniture too, great when you get what you want for less 🙌🏻

@MrsEG we need a bump update pic soon! Love DHs comment about using the knickers as contraception next year!! I need to get some too - I bought normal underwear in a bigger size and they just aren't doing the job. How's your cold today? They're rotten things. And congrats on starting to clear out the spare room - we also started making plans for ours yesterday. It's a fair size room but I'm planning on keeping the double bed in there, so not quite sure how we'll also fit a cot and everything else in.

@Fivebyfive2 congrats on the eBay wardrobe score - I love a bargain! Great your friend has a crib for you too.

PippaPug · 09/09/2019 09:37

@MrsR16 - Think we all have food and bad days like that! How many weeks are you?

@purplefig - we had the tests done and I’m slightly concerned about one of the twins results - not as good as the other, but now hearing your results I’m now pretty concerned 😬
Twin 1 was 1 in 1500 (roughly in downs Syndrome) and 1000 for Edwards and Patau’s
Twin 2 was 1 in 970 (roughly for DS) and 1 in 1000 for Edwards and Pataus
Now you have said yours was 1 in 6000 mine seems so low 😬

purplefig · 09/09/2019 09:41

@PippaPug ahh sorry, didn't mean to make you panic! 1 in 970 is so incredibly low.

BabySquid · 09/09/2019 09:44

@PippaPug my friend had sickness throughout her entire pregnancy so I think, thinking about particular foods and feeling ill at 14 wk is still normal.

@GemmaJen look at that squishy face she's just beautiful. Well done you 👏🏻👏🏻

@purplefig do you think 18 weeks now just seems to be flying? My boss just asked me how far I was and guessed at 16 I was like no, 18 today! For me it's just going so quick!!
And I totally know what you mean, said to DH this morning now I've decided on a leave date I can't wait for it and just don't wanna come to work at the mo haha

I feel like my cold is coming back again, just when I thought it was on the way out 😭 and on my last two tissues in my desk box! #NotAGoodDay!! Bump is well and truly showing now too! Had a few (nice) comments from my team this morning.

purplefig · 09/09/2019 09:48

@BabySquid yeah since 12 weeks it feels like time has sped up big time. Glad it's not just me that feels that way about work. I keep feeling like a bad feminist 🤣 and then I remember that having it all is a dangerous myth and it's perfectly acceptable to just go with the season of life you're in. When are you starting maternity leave? I'm self employed and have loosely decided 1st Feb, but January is always dead in my line of work...so I keep thinking about starting a bit earlier! Great news about the bump - I keep thinking I'm not showing, but looking at pics I think I definitely am. Got a wedding in a month and looking forward to having a (hopefully!) more defined looking bump.
