@purplefig hey DD twin! I've been getting a few headaches recently. I've also got my 20 week scan in two weeks (and 2 days) but we're not going to find out what we're having. Just super excited to see Jr. again.
@Jessikka yes you'll need a full bladder, it's so that your fuller bladder pushes your uterus closer to your skin so the ultrasound is clearer.
@thumper59 bet you can't wait for your baby shower. I can't wait to start planning mine with my bestie.

We're watching bake off with a brew and cookies 🍪
Ok the topic of being well prepared... we've not bought a single thing yet!! But we're off to Oz when I'm 24 weeks so planning on starting when we're back and I'm 26 weeks. We've been to enquire about carpet for the nursery, and we know which travel system we want. I can't wait to start buying cute little clothes 🥰

BabySquid · 03/09/2019 20:36

Oh also forgot to say I think I felt movement earlier. Like bubbles! I can't wait to feel proper little kicks, although I'll probs regret saying that when I've toes jamming between my ribs... DH and I both did that to our mums so I'm not holding out for a comfy ride!!

PippaPug · 04/09/2019 06:38

Sorry I have been quiet for the last week!
It was my birthday and then just had a bit of a break from the internet Smile

How is everyone doing?

I’m on the train - going to work for the first time in 8 weeks and have cried so much about being apart from DH, this will be the longest stint we have done apart.
I’m feeling incredibly nauseas and very hot on the train too I’m hoping when I get to work I will get distracted.

When is it to early to wear my baby on board badge?! I won’t wear it atm but I think if I feel this rubbish I’m going to be brave and ask someone for a seat on the tube Confused so will let you know how that goes!

LokiCat · 04/09/2019 07:46

Morning all. Sorry I haven't caught up with the thread. I had some more brown discharge and light pink spotting this time last night and again this morning and symptoms seem to have disappeared. It all seems so similar to what happened last night
I'm waiting till 8am for the EPU to open so I can give them a ring about going in. So frustrated that things can't just be easy during this journey 😞
Will keep you all updated after my visit.

ELW85 · 04/09/2019 08:45

Morning all!
Survived the gym last night but struggled to eat afterwards. Feeling better this morning though!

@MrsEG - thank you, I’m sure the scan will be absolutely fine :) not long to go, I guess!

@PippaPug - sorry you’re feeling low about being apart from DH. How long will it be? I’m sure it’ll fly over.

@LokiCat - sorry to hear you’ve still got the spotting. Are you feeling ok other than that? Hopefully the EPU gets you straight in and puts your mind to rest xx

purplefig · 04/09/2019 08:50

@MrsEG Could you get your sister and friends with kids to look at your list? We got some friends to vet ours and they mentioned a couple of things we don't need (socks will the bane of our existence apparently...just get all in one onesies instead). It was really useful. Ooo I'll have to google a Gro egg...sounds interesting! My midwife was lovely and said not to panic as sometimes it can take a while as they're still little and there's lots of space for them to hide still, but luckily mine was sat smack bang in the middle. Less room for your two to wriggle away though I guess! So annoying about yoga being cancelled...mind you, GBBO + peppermint tea sounds like a lovely alternative. Although I'm impressed you haven't had something sweet...I can't watch bake off and not eat something cake-y!

@ELW85 No problem at all - I sound like I'm getting a commission from it (I'm definitely not!) but it is so, so, so interesting and packed full of practical, actionable tips. Both of us are loving it. I must admit, being self-employed and working from my home office has been an absolute godsend - I've definitely scheduled the odd call around nap time in the first trimester Blush. Go you getting the gym - I did NO exercise at all for the whole of the first trimester...paid for it when I started up again at 12 weeks - the aches, the aches!!! Grin

@TrashKitten10 ahhh people just don't know what to say / don't think. Imagine if we went around commenting on other people's bodies in a similar fashion! Just try and ignore them as much as possible - your midwife will let you know if there are any concerns with growth. Are you doing an in-person hypnobirthing course? You'll have to let me know how you get on.

@BabySquid hi due date twin! My midwife said headaches are super common and that paracetamol is absolutely fine. Mine finally went after 24 hours...so annoying though aren't they? How exciting about your trip to Oz! Are you out seeing family or having an explore? We haven't bought anything (of any practical use) yet either...nearly new baby and kids sale this weekend...it must begin!

@PippaPug crack out your baby on board badge now - it sounds like you'd have really benefited from a seat, so just go for it. How long are you going to be apart from DH? I hope work is a good distraction for a while.

@LokiCat really sorry to hear that, but you're doing the right thing by contacting the EPU. Just try and remember that spotting in early pregnancy is pretty common and isn't necessarily cause for concern. But I appreciate you've been through this before and it's practically impossible to always stay positive. I'll be thinking of you - keep us posted when you can. xxx

BabySquid · 04/09/2019 09:02

@purplefig yes headaches are very annoying. We're off to have a look around... 90% set of moving there in a couple of years so off to look at areas and hubs is talking to a couple of companies. Also my bestie and her hubs moved out nearly 3 years ago so off to see her too and her little ones. Super excited.

purplefig · 04/09/2019 09:11

@BabySquid ahh amazing! I used to live out there - whereabouts are you looking at? Having an inbuilt support network with your friend and her family will be invaluable, as in my experience isolation/loneliness is an issue a lot of expats struggle with initially.

BabySquid · 04/09/2019 09:21

@purplefig we're looking at mainly Perth, we've got 4 days each, central, more south and then more north where they are. We're also hiring a car so can go lots of places. Can't wait to see the Quokkas too 😍

purplefig · 04/09/2019 09:27

@BabySquid that's where I was! Feel free to DM me about anything. The wildlife out there was insanely gorgeous - can't beat a baby roo imho!

MrsEG · 04/09/2019 12:59

@BabySquid Your trip to Oz sounds wonderful! My aunty and uncle moved there a decade ago and love it; of my cousins two have come home but one stayed out there - they love the place. They keep trying to get me to visit but I’m a total arachnophobe so I just can’t do it!!
I think buying stuff from 26 weeks sounds fine; some friends of mine think I’m being over-organised even having a list at the moment!

@PippaPug Get that badge! You’ll be showing soon (if not already!) with two and the aches are a pain so you bloody well deserve that seat!

@LokiCat Hope everything is okay lovely x

@purplefig I actually sent my list to three mum friends this morning and all they did was add more things haha! So many I’d never thought of. Some I’d never heard of!! So I have lots on there now. Good recommendations of brands and stuff too. My sister uses these sock clip-on things now (her daughter is a bit older so needs them - agree though at first leggings and baby grows are way better) they’re like a wee elastic band thing that keeps them on! She’s not far off wearing shoes now though so that will solve it all :)
Oh I had biscuits with my tea also, absolutely. Can’t watch bake off without a snack!
Yeah, movement is very very personal to each woman and baby - the fact the NHS gives such a broad range for when it may start is proof!

Hope everyone is good! I’m trying a different preggo yoga class tonight near work as I was a bit miffed yesterday’s at the gym got cancelled. It’s quite a long class though, but looking forward to it. It’s also my dogs birthday today (yes I celebrate this) so big walk for him once I get back! I keep ‘borrowing’ my niece for a few hours at the moment so my dog can get used to a baby in the house - he doesn’t seem too bothered by her really. Sniffs her then walks away!

MrsR16 · 04/09/2019 13:35

@BabySquid I bet you're so excited about going to Oz! I would be for sure 😊

@LokiCat any news, lovely?

@PippaPug happy birthday for last week! and definitely crack out the badge... people can't feign ignorance then!

@BabySquid ooh! First movements are weird, but so exciting! I still love feeling baby move, but am nearly at the point where I can't wait to put them in their cot where they can kick air and not me haha! 😂

I had someone at work say to me yesterday "oh, I didn't even realise you were pregnant!" I was like "it's fine, I'm only 25 weeks tomorrow!!" 😂 with this great big baby bump showing... people do make me giggle. MIL keeps going "god you're getting big!" Helpful... 🙄

PippaPug · 04/09/2019 14:10

@LokiCat - how did you get on?

@ELW85 - 9 nights, longest we have been apart and I just feel so sensitive about it and keep crying Blush I know it will fly by as such but I just don’t feel right not being at home. What did you do at the gym?

@purplefig - I almost did but felt a bit silly?! Luckily when I got the tube at 6.45 there was a space so I managed to somehow get it in the priority seats anyway, which is a rare thing! How are you getting on?

@MrsEG - haha I didn’t need it in the end but I think in the next few weeks I’m going to have it attached to my clothes! I struggled today with a pram up two flights of stairs, got a long way to go yet! How are you getting on?

@MrsR16 - Thank you! Didn’t need the badge even during rush hour surprisingly, but I know it won’t be long now! How are you getting on?

thumper59 · 04/09/2019 15:03

@TrashKitten10 I think so too, although the busy time at work has just started so I might have to plod on until maternity! I know what you mean about people commenting on bump size. It's so frustrating especially when people say opposite things!!

@BabySquid i am super excited, I don't know what she's planned but she's had be banned from her house 😂 so exciting that your going to oz! Its on my bucket list

@MrsEG happy birthday to your dog!! We do mini parties for ours to 🙄😂

I had my midwife app this morning, baby is grand he was as naughty as ever punching the Doppler off! He's head down for the moment and was at my last app but I think he has been moving around sometimes as my belly has done some big movements that's felt like full flips! All looking good and still heading for a water birth at the MLU so I'm hoping we stay that way 😊😊

LokiCat · 04/09/2019 15:06

Hi all! Good news, they saw a baby and a heartbeat at the scan 😊 I burst into tears when the Dr showed me and had to ask her to repeat because I didn't believe her! I feel so much more reassured now, so glad I was able to get a scan today. Measuring at 6+5 which is just about what I worked out as well! She thanked me for having lovely ovaries to scan as well, which was an interesting compliment that I appreciated 😂

@MrsR16 where are you planning on going away in October? My mum gifted us a two night stay away for our anniversary so going to book that soon!

@ELW85 hope your sharp pains have stopped (but it is nice to know that it's because the baby is getting bigger 😊).
Haha cabbage is an interesting one but spaghetti hoops on toast sounds brilliant! Don't think I've had any since primary school.
I'm feeling okay, some slight nausea and a bit of a headache but otherwise all good thank you 💕

@MrsEG your bump is so beautiful!!

@thumper59 ah how exciting that it's your baby shower this weekend. I hope you have a brilliant time - I'm sure your mum has done a lovely job organising it!

@purplefig ahh how exciting you got to hear the heartbeat at your appointment, that must have been amazing!
I'm sorry to hear you've been getting headaches. I hope the paracetamol helps?
Thanks for your kind words. I think even if the spotting had stopped I would constantly worry about a MMC, so this early scan was the best thing for me.

@TrashKitten10 glad you had a nice week with your DH, it's great getting a chance to spend some quality time together.
People do seem to love commenting on everything, regardless of how it's coming across. I always wonder if they think they're being helpful when they're really not.
I'm sure your baby is growing perfectly :)

@BabySquid eeek how exciting you're getting to feel movements, that must feel amazing!! That's one thing I'm really looking forward to during pregnancy.
I've already been browsing through shops and looking at all the cute clothes but have stopped myself from buying anything. Can't wait to start as well :)

@PippaPug definitely get the badge out. I can't wait to order mine. I've still noticed that so many people look away even if there is a woman with an obvious bump standing up. Asking them outright is the only way sometimes, unfortunately.

@MrsEG happy birthday to your dog! I hope you enjoy your yoga class tonight.

Had a big bowl of pasta bake when I got home from the scan. I'm loving the carbs at the moment! I feel like I'm constantly hungry though. Trying to snack of fruits now and then so it keeps the hunger/nausea at bay.

Hope you're all having a great day x

ELW85 · 04/09/2019 15:16

@purplefig - haha I wish I could give you commission, it’s been really helpful advice! What did you recommence, exercise-wise? It’s such a slog!

@PippaPug - I totally get why you’re feeling as you do. Time apart is awful especially when you’re feeling as you are. We’re all here for you!
I did a circuits class last night, just kept an eye on my HR.

@LokiCat - fantastic news!! I burst into tears when I had my reassurance scan too 😊
I’m so pleased it went well and you got to see the heartbeat! Did they explain the spotting or was it just random?

thumper59 · 04/09/2019 15:43

@LokiCat amazing news! So glad they got you in for a scan today. So happy for you- eat all the carbs you like! X

MrsEG · 04/09/2019 15:48

@PippaPug Oh you poor thing, make sure you’re taking it nice and easy! Do your employers know you’re pregnant yet?

@thumper59 We threw our dog a big party last year as he was 3, so 21 in dog years - I even had a cake made 🙈 Glad to hear it’s not just me!! Ahh glad your midwife appt went so well; waterbirth is the dream!

@LokiCat Oh I’m so pleased for you. Carb up! I was exactly the same at your stage and it only got worse for me - midwife said it’s your body telling you what it needs (for me, carbs and cheese!) so go nuts. I was hungry from waking to sleeping, I ate all day long!

LokiCat · 04/09/2019 16:09

@ELW85 thanks lovely! There are such an overwhelming amount of emotions during the appointment, especially while I was waiting to be seen. I think it just all came out in relief!
Tbh, I was so happy to hear about the baby and heartbeat that I forgot to ask about the spotting. They said everything looked normal though, so hopefully nothing to worry about it.

@thumper59 thanks sweet. I'm definitely enjoying all the carbs 😊 Sorry I missed your update earlier, glad your appointment went well and you're on track for a water birth. Great news!

@MrsEG thank you!! It does sound like my body is telling me to go for the carbs and cheese as well, it's just so good! I'm trying to eat healthy when I can with all the fruit, but won't restrict myself too much as at least I don't have any aversions to it right now.

purplefig · 04/09/2019 16:39

@MrsEG oh gawwwd, the ever growing list!! At least you'll be prepared though. The sock clip-on things sound like a great invention! I hope tonight's yoga class is good and helps with any aches and pains, I always leave mine feeling so zen (and sleep incredibly). As a fellow fanatical dog mom, you enjoy the heck out of your first baby's birthday!! I always make mine a doggy microwave cake Blush - he'd love a professional one even more I'm sure Grin.

@PippaPug totally normal to be feeling emotional at the prospect of being away from your partner for 9 nights - pregnancy makes me weepy at the best of times and yours is a seriously justifiable reason! Deffo crack out the badge though.

@thumper59 glad everything went well at your midwife appointment - fingers crossed he stays head down now! Great news your still on track for a waterbirth, that is my dream scenario (just trying not to get too attached to it).

@LokiCat YESSS!! This is excellent news - I'm so glad you managed to get a scan today and it was all positive. It's amazing seeing them for the first time isn't it? I was carb mad in the first trimester - my general rule was anything goes Grin. Ahh, I'm really, really chuffed for you :)

@ELW85 Hahaa no worries! Erm, not much Blush at the moment I'm just going to a weekly pregnancy yoga class and then daily dog walks. I'm going to try pregnancy Pilates next week and I'm going to start doing some longer beach dog walks too, for both of us really Grin. How're you coping with the gym? I must admit, I really miss my weightlifting - but I hadn't got into enough of a groove with it before finding out I was pregnancy, so haven't carried it on.

ELW85 · 04/09/2019 17:29

@LokiCat - that’s totally understandable! When you’re so relieved, very little else matters 😊 and definitely eat what you feel you need to! I agree with everyone that’s commented, you basically just eat what your body tells you to when you can. Enjoy!

@purplefig - I’ll swap you for dog walks any day! Totally right to not try and progress something you were just starting before pregnancy 😊 any activity is good at the moment, and I think yoga and Pilates (of the pregnancy variety) will be wonderful. Just need to get to the second tri to give them a go!

ELW85 · 04/09/2019 17:30

Oh, in the earlier note of GBBO, it’s my mothers 60th today, and as I was too ill to bake at the weekend, I’ve acquired this!!

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 6!
MrsEG · 04/09/2019 17:42

@LokiCat Fab! If you can eat healthy that’s great, but don’t force yourself if you really can’t stand it and just want the pasta. My midwife didn’t bat an eyelid at 9 weeks when I told her all I’d eaten for weeks was crumpets and spaghetti with cheese! It’s only now she’s encouraging me to get back to a healthy diet, and I feel great at the mo so it’s been no problem. I’ve even been eating green things!

@purplefig Yeah my list is crazy now - pram clips (what are they!?) and a toy that plays soothing womb sounds (again, what?!) were given to me as absolute must haves!! I’m glad I asked them now!! Ha, our dog is absolutely the firstborn!! We’re doing some pre-baby training (mostly stationing and keeping him on his mat) with him at the mo and it’s killing me - I hate the idea of him playing second fiddle but I know it’s the right thing to do!! A doggy microwave cake sounds amazing!

@ELW85 That cake looks so good I could like my screen!! Well done you still at the gym. I was an avid gym goer and runner before, DH actually owns a gym, so it pains me not to go but I know I can’t. DH keeps reminding me it’ll be there after the babies arrive, even if I do have to be a beginner again!

thumper59 · 04/09/2019 18:31

@LokiCat Thankyou lovely 😊

@purplefig Thankyou, arghh I am the same! I don't want to do a birthing plan because I think it's just pointless, and I'm trying to keep in the mindset if I can go straight to the birthing centre and have a water birth In the lovely rooms that's the ideal, but trying to not fixate on it too much because I know anything can happen! As long as he is here safely, it doesn't matter (to me) how he comes 😊 and even though it's only 9 weeks away (hopefully!) I know a hell of a lot can change in 9 weeks xx

@ELW85 that cake looks amazing!!

DP has just got in, I was going to do a salad for tea but I feel a bit tired so have suggested Chinese 🙄😂. Good job I'm already the size of a house!

MrsR16 · 04/09/2019 18:39

@PippaPug hey lovely, I'm not doing too badly! Had a down day yesterday (really struggling with body changes for some reason at the moment) but I'm back up today! 😊

@thumper59 that's great that your baby's doing good! And wonderful that everything's as it should be.

@LokiCat that is fantastic news! It's such a relief to know everything's ok 😊 literally made me lol about the ovaries comment 😂😂 We're not sure where we're going just yet, but we normally go for a glamping pod type thing... maybe we'll treat ourselves as it'll be one of the last times we're just by ourselves!

@MrsEG I totally missed your post about your dog's birthday!! We always get ours something (usually a toy and something edible like a doggy cake too!) 😍 love it!

@ELW85 that cake looks just incredible!
