@Bettythecat - congratulations on the scan! How exciting 😊 and have a wonderful time at your Nan’s lunch today; 97 is super impressive, especially with her independence!

@cupcakesandglitter - I hope you’re feeling better after the scan! Spotting after sex is pretty common from what I’ve read so try not to worry!

Fivebyfive2 · 01/09/2019 11:16

@bettythecat, aaahh that's fantastic news!! Do you have any girls names in mind??

@cupcakesandglitter, glad you're feeling better after the scan, it's amazing how much changes in a short time! I think spotting after sex is quite normal, especially in the first trimester xxx

@Bostonfern, I don't have much advice for back pain really, it sounds like you're doing what you can to manage it. I hope it gets better soon xxx

We've had a pretty lazy weekend, mostly eating, watching telly and napping! Will be having a housework day today though, how rock and roll 😎😂 I can't believe how much room baby stuff takes up, we're not even done getting stuff yet either!

OP posts:
cupcakesandglitter · 01/09/2019 11:52

@Bettythecat nope, you didn't - after the scan I started vomiting again so stayed in bed pretty much all afternoon and napped 😂 I'm 8 + 6 today 😊 I've not had anymore spotting etc today but DH is now too scared to go near me! X

@ELW85 much better, definitely! My next one is in a couple of weeks so not too long to wait anyway 😂 x

cupcakesandglitter · 01/09/2019 11:56

Thanks @Fivebyfive2 definitely!! It's so crazy!! I've downloaded this app called Pregnancy+, and it has like a 3D picture that you can move around - shows all the features etc depending on what week you are, you can even touch the picture and watch how the baby reacts. So crazy! Your weekend sounds amazing 😂 what've you got left to get? X

Fivebyfive2 · 01/09/2019 13:29

@cupcakesandglitter, that ap sounds mad, in the best way! Might have to check it out 😀
We've not much left to get really. Mum and dad are getting us a cot bed, we're having a bedside crib off my friend (hopefully, if it fits!) so will just need a new mattress. Then it's just things like storage, change mats etc. I think we'll hold off buying stuff now until a bit nearer the time, we went a bit mad with bank Holiday sales etc and now need to set up the room properly so we don't just have piles of stuff everywhere! Xx

OP posts:
Fivebyfive2 · 01/09/2019 13:30

Oh and we need baby clothes but waiting to see how big he is going to be before we buy too many! Xx

OP posts:
cupcakesandglitter · 01/09/2019 15:51

@Fivebyfive2 I'd definitely recommend it, it's really nice and you can put notes and to do lists etc for each day 😊 eeek that's exciting!! I suppose you'll have a few more sales anyway before little Homer makes his appearance so plenty of chances to grab last minute bits x

Bettythecat · 01/09/2019 22:27

@cupcakesandglitter I've got that app and I've not seen any of the features you've mentioned- how do I do that?! I like the scan pictures and length tracker they have on there though! I know what you mean about scaring your DH- I lost a tiny bit of my mucus plug a while ago after we had recently had sex and it really put him off for a while! He was scared to hurt me!

@Fivebyfive2 my favourite name is Iris - I've loved it for ages and now that we are having a girl I'm hoping we can use it. Just trying to persuade DH to love it as much as I do. We were talking about it on the way to Nans party today and I was trying to persuade him it was a lovely name- when we were at the party his Mum was talking to his Nan about someone having bought his Nan Irises and then it turns out his Nans middle name is Iris! She's Ruby Iris and we didn't even know! I told DH this and I think he might now have come round! It's a sign! Have you got names for your baby boy?

cupcakesandglitter · 01/09/2019 23:15

@Bettythecat I've popped some screenshots on - the first one is the homepage, does yours look like this? If you scroll down you should see the "schedule" bit in the second picture, and if you click on the baby picture from the homepage the interactive bit pops up 😊 oh bless him 😂 I guess I get it but I'm also mega horny so it doesn't help 😩 iris is a lovely name! I hope your DH agrees to it xx

Morning ladies! Hope you're all doing ok 😊 I had an amazing weekend of camping (sounds horrendous but it was lovely!) - we just unplugged from the world and spent some much needed time together.

How are we all doing? @Bettythecat @cupcakesandglitter I love the Pregnancy+ app - I'm still using it! Some of the articles aren't relevant to me, but most of the bits and pieces are pretty good! My virtual baby doesn't move much when I touch it anymore! 😂😂 xx

purplefig · 02/09/2019 09:25

Hi guys - a week off of mumsnet, that's a record for me! I had a fab time relaxing in nature, catching up with family and generally avoiding technology. I feel much more relaxed now compared to a week ago.

I'm officially 17 weeks today - I'm feeling pretty great, just the odd headache, bit of back pain and THE ITCHIEST BOOBS EVER. Stop growing, pleaseeeeeee!!! Oh and I've finally started the digital pack from The Positive Birth Company and I am loving it. If anyone on here is keen for a natural birth but feeling nervous/frightened at the prospect, I really can't recommend it enough. It's so reassuring and grounded in science. I'm watching it with DH at the moment and it's a lovely thing to do together.

I've tried to catch up a bit, but this thread moves gloriously fast, so sorry for any big news I've missed!

@stormtrooperjulian I specifically scrolled back to ogle your kitchen and I'm glad I did...my my what a beauty!! You've got to be over the moon with how it's turned out!? I love the green, so unusual and stylish. Love love love the french doors out onto the garden too.

@Tropicana1 congrats on having a girl! If it's any consolation, we haven't had any sex in a few weeks either. I think it's quite normal in pregnancy to not have a raging sex drive, what with all the glamorous symptoms. It's honestly the last thing on my mind at the moment, and luckily DH isn't bothered. It could be worth talking to your partner about if you're concerned though?

@PippaPug annoying to need another scan, but kind of cute that twin one was hiding behind twin two for comfort...and so that special bond begins! When are you due? Oct/Nov doesn't seem far away at all now we're in September!

@LokiCat that's amazing news about your best friend - I doubt there's much that's more special than going through pregnancy with a close friend at the same time. Gahhh, enjoy!!!

MrsEG · 02/09/2019 09:43

Morning all! Gosh this thread moves so fast now (I love it!) so forgive me if I miss anyone!

@purplefig Glad you had a fab holiday! I have itchy boobs and an itchy belly! I have to try very hard not to scratch!! Moisturiser and bio oil are supposed to be good!

@MrsR16 Glad you had a fab time camping! I agree @Bettythecat @cupcakesandglitter Pregnancy+ is the only app I use (I have serious beef with some others!!) - I’m 15 weeks now so the 3D bit is amazing, baby kicked back when I prodded yesterday hah!

@Bettythecat Iris is a lovely name and surely the family connection makes it a given now!

@Fivebyfive2 Gosh it sounds like you’ve bought basically everything!! I have NOTHING! Send some of your organised vibes my way haha!

@BostonFern My friend is 36 weeks and has been seeing an osteopath for rib and hip pain - something worth looking in to?

Had a fab weekend! Went to a clay sculpture workshop on Saturday and made a bust of my dog (of course!). Then yesterday I was at a friends baby shower and it was so, so lovely. A very relaxed affair just lots of chatting and catching up and loads of food! She is due in 4 weeks!! And looking absolutely blood marvellous.
We have decided to book a private scan for next weekend to try and find out the sex of the twins! For some reason I just keep thinking that knowing that will make it all seem so real and will kickstart my baby shopping!
We also have a twins workshop to go to next weekend which I’m so looking forward to, it’s run by TAMBA and the facilitator is a mum of twins so I have a long list of questions ha! (Trying not to panic that it is called ‘Parenting Survival’). There was also a mum of twins at the shower yesterday - she said they’re the best. All very exciting!

stormtrooperjulian · 02/09/2019 10:14

@Bettythecat congrats on your girl! Iris is a lovely name

@cupcakesandglitter so glad your scan went well. It's totally normal to have some spotting after sex during pregnancy, your cervix is easily irritated and has lots of extra blood flow

@BostonFern I haven't had any rib or back pain so can't really help with that but it might be helpful to see a physio?

@purplefig thanks! I'm really pleased with how it's turned out, it is exactly how I wanted it. Just need to get all the drawers etc rearranged, DH unpacked all the boxes while I was at work so things aren't in the right places, and if I don't rearrange soon then things will just end up staying where they are!

@MrsEG @purplefig I moisturise everywhere with sunflower oil daily when I'm still wet from the shower, then pat skin dry, it makes my skin really soft and smooth and I've had no itching or dry skin or anything during the pregnancy. Ruins towels but hey I find that it's worth it!

purplefig · 02/09/2019 10:19

@MrsEG I have been trying to apply as much moisturiser as I can but the itching is incessant!! Your weekend sounds absolutely fab - and I love that you (of course) made a bust of your dog. Great you got to speak with a twin mum at the shower too, I know a fair few twins (and even a set of triplets!) and the bond they have is so special. Ooooooo please do book a private scan....I'm dying to know what you're having!!! Grin Are you leaning any which way? The twin workshop will be a godsend too, I'm sure.

@stormtrooperjulian oh I hear you, definitely get things rearranged how you want ASAP! It's like that one box from moving house that never gets unpacked. Interesting about the oil - I was planning on trying coconut oil tonight.

MrsEG · 02/09/2019 10:25

@stormtrooperjulian @purplefig Oil is a fab idea actually - once I’ve finished up with the BioOil I’ll crack some open!

@purplefig We both think there’s definitely one boy in there, that’s about all we ‘feel’ and who even knows if that’s right as it’s just a hunch!! Yeah it was fab speaking to her - she did say she got pre-eclampsia but I am already on aspirin for that (🤞🏻) but she carried up to 36 weeks which is a really good outcome, kinda what I am hoping for! And she’s tiny too! She also then fell pregnant again when the twins were 5 months old haha, must remember how fertile we are post-babies!!

purplefig · 02/09/2019 10:41

@MrsEG I meant to say above - that's amazing you can feel them kicking already! I keep willing myself to feel movement, but I don't think I can feel anything yet (or if I can, it's more like a vague feeling of nerves/needing the loo...no obvious kicks)! Oooo I'll be so interested to find out what you're having. Oh my goodness - can you imagine having 5 month old twins and being pregnant?! Definitely the time to practice safe sex kids! Grin

MrsEG · 02/09/2019 11:04

@purplefig Oh no I can't feel them! I just made the baby on my pregnancy app kick haha! I've still felt nothing - Lady yesterday told me she felt her twins first between 16-17 weeks, so maybe next week! I was asking my sister also when she felt anything and she said 19 weeks, so it seems it's so so different for everyone! And that hers felt like bubbles popping inside her belly!

purplefig · 02/09/2019 11:21

@MrsEG gotcha! I wondered if because there were two you might feel them early - double the chance and all that?! I've heard up to 25 weeks is pretty normal. Pregnancy (not to mention TTC) is teaching me the value of patience Grin.

MrsEG · 02/09/2019 11:51

@purplefig Oh god yeah, depending on how they are positioned and where your placenta is it can take weeks to feel anything at all! Yes I apparently should feel movement earlier as there's two in there so they naturally have less places to hide! A friend bought me a twin pregnancy book and that seems to suggest any time from 14 weeks women have felt them (but again some say they felt nothing til closer to 19 weeks). I have my 16 week midwife appt next week though so hope I get to listen to both heartbeats!
We have gone ahead and booked the scan for next Saturday morning - I am so excited!
Hope your first day back working post-holiday isn't too bad!

cupcakesandglitter · 02/09/2019 12:32

Glad you enjoyed your weekend @MrsR16 😊 I Bet your virtual baby is looking quite big on the screen 😂❤️ x

Thanks @stormtrooperjulian x

I am currently waiting for a callback from my doctor, I really thought that I could be strong enough and do this whilst working and have no one at work know, I really didn't want to tell anyone because I know that it means I won't get the promotion that I want. I really am struggling though, and don't think I can do this without fully resting up and having a break from work, so I'm just hoping that my doctor gives me a sick note so I can actually rest and tell management! This is definitely the most challenging thing I have ever done 😩

cupcakesandglitter · 02/09/2019 12:33

Ahhh @MrsEG how exciting!! Imagine if you're right and have you have one of each?! Let us know!! X

LokiCat · 02/09/2019 12:57

Hi all! Hope you're well 😊 I had the laziest weekend after ages and I have no regrets whatsoever 😂 still did some house chores but otherwise binge watched tv! Grin
Hope you all had a great weekend!

@ELW85 glad you felt better enough to make it to the hairdressers. Love me a good pamper session! Have the aches stopped? Does sound like he/she is just getting comfortable for the next few months
I'm good thank you! I've been getting some slight nausea the last two mornings, so stocked up on some Tuc biscuits at work! I seem to be loving everything salty at the moment, whereas normally I have such a sweet tooth! Smile

@BostonFern nice that you're able to tick off the big buys! Sorry to hear you're in pain though. Hope it isn't too bad going back to work?
27 weeks, how exciting!

@Bettythecat congrats on a little girl!! Iris is a lovely name. Sorry to hear things at work aren't that great right now. Hopefully the next few months to maternity leave fly by!

@Fivebyfive2 sounds like your weekend was similar to mine, it's great isn't it Grin
I was looking at a checklist on an app of the things to get for the baby and I can't believe how much there. No wonder it takes so much room! 😂

@cupcakesandglitter I love the Pregnancy+ app. It's been amazing to see how the baby changes and also reading what is developing each weeks. Ditto to you all, I love prodding the baby to see how it reacts 😂

@MrsR16 weekend sounds great! Time together away from the rest of the world sounds absolutely lovely.

@purplefig welcome back! Glad you had a brilliant time away.
Thank you! Funnily enough our birthdays are a week apart as well, so it's all so crazy, but we're both so excited!!

@MrsEG your weekend sounds great! Glad you got to speak to a mum of twins and also TAMBA next weekend. I'm sure there must be so many questions you have to ask!
Hope the private scan next weekend goes well - can't wait to hear what you're having!!

Hope those back at work today after a break haven't found it too difficult!
Have a great day all! Xx

MrsR16 · 02/09/2019 13:26

@purplefig it wasn't too bad! We were rained on for about 10 minutes and it was quite windy but aside from that, it was lovely 😊

@MrsEG the app does make me giggle sometimes - it can be quite Americanised! Your weekend sounds absolutely awesome! I'm excited for you to find out which flavour you're having 😂 xx

@cupcakesandglitter it's huge! It's very cute though 😊 have a look! That's actual size 😂 you are such a strong lady, you're doing amazing things! I hope the doctors help out xx

@LokiCat it was definitely just what we needed! We're planning on going away over our anniversary in October which will be one of the last times that we'll be away before the baby's here, so we have to make the most of it before life changes forever! Your weekend sounds fab too 😊

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 6!
ELW85 · 02/09/2019 13:27

@LokiCat - your weekend sounds very similar to mine! I definitely did some housework but also spent a lot of time doing nothing with cheesy TV shows!
I felt super sick this morning, which I still consider a positive 😂
I didn’t have any pain yesterday but have had a couple of pulling/sharp pains today.
I’m putting it down to being near the end of the 1st tri and it’s just the baby getting bigger 🤞🏻
I’m with you on the salty cravings! It’s been anything with a really strong salt and vinegar taste for me, as well as cabbage (don’t ask) and spaghetti hoops on toast. That’s about it as far as cravings go - so far!! Xx

cupcakesandglitter · 02/09/2019 13:31

@LokiCat it's brilliant isn't it! Weird but fascinating x

Thanks @MrsR16 I've been signed off for two weeks, have told management and already feel like a wait has been lifted! I need to remind myself to rest I think and to stop trying to juggle everything! Oh my god 😂 my actual size is tiny compared to yours!!! How cute that you can only see the face 😂🥰 x
