@Lozzlepop so so sorry to hear this lovely. Everything crossed for you in your journey. You'll make an amazing mum one day! Hope to see you back here soon. Xxx

MrsEG · 30/08/2019 11:11

@Lozzlepop Don't even think about IVF yet; it could be something really simple. Even though my results read like I was bloody upside down in there all I actually needed was a steroid and blood thinners; I also take a thyroid thing but I understand now it's just a precaution. The NHS can do wonderful things and have miracle drugs, they really do. We only went private for the blood tests but yes, it did cost around £800 (I think I just felt desperate - it's still sat on a credit card not paid off). So if you can hold off a few months for your appointment they will do the exact same for you at the NHS - I was transferred there as soon as I got my results and the care was just amazing - all the money really did was help me jump the queue a bit.
Like you say, I'm sat here now very fat with twins so it will happen for you, it really will - they will find a way for you and you'll have your baby XX

cupcakesandglitter · 30/08/2019 11:12

Thanks @LokiCat I was super excited for mine too, it's quite boring really but also surreal to even be sat there talking about actually being pregnant! Xx

Thanks @Bettythecat that's exactly how I feel, I just want to know that my little baby is okay - I cried so much last night just praying that I don't lose it because I don't think I can deal with any more losses, especially after I've heard the heartbeat. I did throw up this morning but I've woken up still feeling more like my non pregnant self so who knows - I had a scan on Tuesday and feel like I'd be crazy to go back so soon but I honestly don't know how to cope 😭😭 x

Ahhh @LikeTheFruit lovely picture, glad everything is well xxx

Sorry to hear that @Lozzlepop look after yourself xxx

Lozzlepop · 30/08/2019 12:17

@LikeTheFruit thank you so much lovely, I really hope so too!!

@MrsEG oh no I’m not, I’m definitely hoping it’s something relatively simple, was more meaning I’m not sure what’s offered locally and that it would be a 92 mile daily round trip to Dundee, I am just having a look at a private option just now which is £170 for a consultation but I could be seen September or October. It’s very comforting to hear that fantastic treatment you are receiving from the NHS it really is! Thank you so much, your words have brought tears to my eyes!

@cupcakesandglitter thanks hun, I hope you are ok ❤️

MrsR16 · 30/08/2019 13:21

@LokiCat haha! Mums hey? They worry so much but now we're understanding why! That is absolutely awesome about your friend! Makes life easier having someone close to you 😁

@LikeTheFruit great scan picture!! Glad everything's as it should be 😊

@Lozzlepop oh sweetheart, that's awful news to read... take some time for you. Thinking of you ❤️

@cupcakesandglitter sounds like you're having a tough time of it at the moment... we're all here for you! Xx

Tropicana1 · 30/08/2019 13:51

@Bettythecat Late reply sorry only just catching up now but my bump has been very late to the party. I'll be 22 weeks on Monday and just have a small low paunch type swelling rather than a bump yet.

@Fivebyfive2 Glad your scan went well too 😊 definitely get the whooping cough in your other arm I felt like I'd been punched in the arm where I had it 😂

@MrsR16 @MrsEG @stormtrooperjulian @Fivebyfive2 thanks for making me feel more normal! We normally have a really active sex life so I'm not sure what's happened. Not DTD for about 3-4 weeks now.Time to get back on the horse I think 😂

Ladies I need help with a pregnancy pillow - I'm getting really uncomfortable at night with some hip aching and think I need to invest in one, but most that I've seen cradle you on one side.
My trouble is I toss and turn a lot and don't like to be restricted to one side, so ideally need a pillow that I won't need to completely sit up and flip over in order to comfortably change sides. Any suggestions??

MrsR16 · 30/08/2019 13:54

@Tropicana1 I actually got mine from Aldi! It's a long straight one, so when I need to turn over, I just grab it between my legs (which is where it normally is anyway) and roll over! Then shuffle back a bit to make sure DH has still got room...

MrsEG · 30/08/2019 13:59

@Tropicana1 I have hip pain on one side, my sister gave me her pillow and it's been a godsend - I've no idea what it's called but it's U-shaped so wraps all around you! It looks like this (I just googled 'massive pregnancy pillow' and it came up!!!)

stormtrooperjulian · 30/08/2019 15:08

@LokiCat how lovely that you and your best friend can go through all this together! How did your booking in appt go?

@LikeTheFruit lovely scan pic! Glad it went well.

@Lozzlepop I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you can get some tests sorted out and you're back here with us soon

@Tropicana1 I have this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QSF83Y2/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_y2sADbEJW6BAS I really recommend it, so comfy!

LikeTheFruit · 30/08/2019 16:40

@MrsEG @cupcakesandglitter @MrsR16 @stormtrooperjulian thank you all so much! So surreal. Off out for dinner with my dad soon to let him know the news! I'm sure by the morning there will be an announcement in the newspaper 😂😂

LokiCat · 30/08/2019 17:47

Hi all!

@Bettythecat hope your work from day was good. I had the same today - love working from home on a Friday!
Such a shame about the ASOS order, I generally find some okay things on there. Glad the jeans were decent at least!

@LikeTheFruit ah gorgeous scan picture, so pleased for you. Glad everything is well! Enjoy dinner Smile

@cupcakesandglitter that's exactly how I felt today. She even started talking about the kind of birth I could have and it was crazy to even be thinking about all of that!

@stormtrooperjulian booking in appointment went well thank you. She told me I'm low risk, so could even think about having a home birth if I wanted.
Have already booked my follow up appointment for 16 weeks.
The thing I find really great was that they upload everything to a system so I have access to it all through an app, including any blood/urine results. So I won't have to worry about carrying maternity notes.
She said she would give me a ring if anything concerning came up in the blood results, otherwise I'm good to go! Grin

Just off to the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London, which I'm excited about.

Hope you all have a great Friday evening xx

LokiCat · 30/08/2019 17:47

@Lozzlepop I'm so sorry again lovely. Take care of yourself. I hope that you can get some answers at your appointment and be back here real soon ❤️

ELW85 · 30/08/2019 20:59

@LokiCat - amazing news about your best mate!! It’ll be so much fun to go through it all together :) I hope you enjoy your Tower of London evening...what’s the ceremony about? Excuse my lack of knowledge 😂

@LikeTheFruit - congratulations on the lovely scan, I bet it was great to see!

@Lozzlepop - so, so sorry again lovely, you are awesome and will get your beautiful little one ❤️

BabySquid · 31/08/2019 08:06

Morning all. Hope you have some lovely weekend plans.
@LokiCat how was the ceremony? I like stuff like that.
@LikeTheFruit you're little one looks so comfy in there, such a lovely picture. I thought my dad was going to do the same in the Yorkshire evening post!

Well I was hoping to start my swimming today but my cold has finally got to that 'can't breathe without blowing my nose every two mins' phase! So I'll go during the week instead! Off to pick up my maternity jeans from dotty Ps today they had an amazing sale on (not sure if they still do) but my jeans were like £9 each! I'll let you know the quality.

Tropicana1 · 31/08/2019 09:49

@MrsEG @stormtrooperjulian amazing this is the type of pillow I was thinking I might need but I didn't want to spend £40 on some random giant U shaped pillow only for it to be shit 😂 good to hear some positive reviews about it from real people! Do you find they take up too much of the bed as they look really large?

@MrsR16 thanks I'll definitely look at that one too, I think that style or the giant U ones will suit me best with all my wriggling around!

LokiCat · 31/08/2019 10:36

Morning all! :)

@ELW85 I know, we still can't believe that we're so close in the pregnancy! How have you been lovely?
Haha that's okay, I didn't know much about it until DH mentioned it to me.
It's a ceremony that's occurred every evening whereby the Chief Yeoman Warder locks the main gates of the Tower of London at 10pm with the 'Queen's Keys', whilst escorted with the Queen's guard. It was fascinating to watch!
This current routine has happened every night since 1826 (only late once during World War 2).

@BabySquid it was brilliant. We got to have an hour walking tour of the Tower of London before the ceremony. The Yeoman Warder that took us round was hilarious. I also got such goosebumps when they played the Last Post. I really recommend it. Luckily DH got a few tickets through work so we made it into a family affair (apparently there's an 18 month waiting list!).
Sorry to hear you've got such a bad cold. Hope you feel better soon!
I think it's a weekend of relaxing for us after a long week at work.

Sorry I rattled on a bit to both of you 🙈

Hope you all have a lovely weekend Grin

ELW85 · 31/08/2019 12:45

@LokiCat - that sounds brilliant! I’m a massive history nerd so things like that really appeal to me :)
I’m good thanks lovely, felt particularly nauseous this morning so nearly didn’t make the hairdressers, but I’m currently awaiting a toner to develop, so made it!
I’ve had mild, dull aches yesterday and today. Intermittent, so I’m trying not to worry. I’m sure little one is just growing!
How are you feeling?

BostonFern · 31/08/2019 13:50

Hi ladies!
I've been off Mumsnet for a few days, had some trips out with DP to make the most of the last few days of our holiday.
@cupcakesandglitter really pleased your early scan went well and you're feeling more positive. Don't panic about symptoms coming and going, it's quite common I believe.
@BabySquid @MrsEG lovely bumps
@Jessikka glad to hear the spotting settled.
@Fivebyfive2 glad the 20 week scan went well, lovely scan photo too.
@Tropicana1 congratulations on your little girl! 💕
@PippaPug Really pleased to hear both twins are doing well!
@LokiCat How lovely to have a friend to go through pregnancy with.
@LikeTheFruit So pleased the scan went well, lovely scan photo too.
@Lozzlepop I'm so sorry to hear that, take care of yourself 💐

I'm 27 weeks now, got my 28 week growth scan and consultant appointment next week and the anti-d injection-anyone further along had this?
We've picked up the cot and mattress today, and the bedside crib for our room and car seat are on order, so we've pretty much purchased all the 'big' buys now.
Rib and back pain has really kicked in this week, I'm a bit worried how I'll cope with it being back at work next week, but we will see.

stormtrooperjulian · 31/08/2019 13:59

@Tropicana1 the pillow takes up quite a lot of room, I would have thought that it might make a standard double bed a bit crowded. We have a super king so we have plenty of room for me + DH + huge pillow + a couple of cats 😄

@LokiCat the ceremony and visiting the Tower of London sounds like a really fun evening!

@ELW85 Ive had loads of growing and stretching pains, particularly up to around 24 weeks, there's lots going on inside you so totally normal to feel aching etc

@BostonFern nice to be getting some of the big buys ticked off the list!

ELW85 · 31/08/2019 16:11

@stormtrooperjulian - thank you for the reassurance! It shifted when I moved, so I’m not letting it bother me 😊

@BostonFern - how exciting that you’ve got nearly everything sorted! Hopefully returning to work isn’t too painful.

Bettythecat · 01/09/2019 07:58

Hello lovelies, how have your weekends been so far? We went to see the new Tarantino movie last night- it was ridiculously long and ended with 15 minutes of gratuitous violence- it wasn't bad but could have been cut down a lot for sure! Had a massive hotdog, sweets and popcorn. Not the healthiest 😂. Off to DHs Nans 97th birthday lunch today would you believe! She's amazing and still lives in her own flat etc.

We also found out yesterday that we are having a girl!!! It was so amazing to find out- I cried! Then bought a gorgeous little girly dress and have bought a pink babygro and pink slipper shoes which we have wrapped up to give to DHs mum today when we see her for the lunch and my mum when we see her next week as a mini gender reveal! It feels so special to know and I really can't believe how lucky I am to be having a baby.

@BostonFern great news to be all organised- I'm itching to start decorating the nursery and buying things but will leave it a bit longer!

@LokiCat WFH was good but work itself is not so great at the moment- combination of having lots on, my payrise and promotion being pushed back to January and some issues with our Chinese team. Making me want to fast forward 5 months to mat leave!

@cupcakesandglitter How you feeling now lovely? Did you have a scan or anything?

@Tropicana1 thank you for the bump reassurance - even I have to admit that I've started to get one now and I'm trying not to obsess quite so much!

Bettythecat · 01/09/2019 08:00

@Lozzlepop I'm not sure if I responded to your news or not but don't want you to think I've read it and not cared- quite a few of us have been through MC on this board so we know the utter heartbreak you are going through and how there really aren't any words of comfort that help. But know we are all thinking of you and sending you lots of love and light at this painful time. Bunker down with your DH and just do what makes you feel good. We had a holiday to the Lakes just after mine and the walks, cream teas and lots of nights in by the fire were really a tonic for the soul and the space I needed.

cupcakesandglitter · 01/09/2019 08:44

@Bettythecat I'm good thankyou, I ended up going for a scan yesterday because of some cramping - baby was bang on dates, lovely heartbeat and had quite a wriggle too which was so amazing to watch! Crazy how in a few days it's gone from looking like a bean to an actual human baby 😂 I'm feeling better generally, I'm still vomiting but I don't get nausea if that makes sense? I did panic last night though, we DTD and tried to keep it quite gentle but I did have some pink stuff afterwards so I'm hoping it's nothing to be concerned about 😊 omg congrats on the girl!!! How amazing! The dress and slippers sounds like a lovely idea 😭💖

Bettythecat · 01/09/2019 09:10

@cupcakesandglitter oh sorry did I miss your scan update. That's lovely though that you've been and had the reassurance you needed. I've had loads of extra scans (about 4 private ones now 🤦‍♀️) but they really set my mind at ease and to be honest I can't think of a better way to spend that money on seeing our baby and having that reassurance. It's always such a high afterwards too. How many weeks are you now? Don't worry about the spotting after sex, it's very normal and I think is to do with the willy slightly irritating your cervix. Xx

BostonFern · 01/09/2019 09:23

@Bettythecat congratulations on finding out you're expecting a little girl 💕

Ladies who are 27+ weeks, can I ask about rib/back pain? When did yours start? Did it ease up at all? Mines all on my right side, in a sort of 'c' shaped band from the front of my ribs round to the back. I'm starting to get a bit down now, last night it was so bad that even after taking paracetamol I was close to tears, and my pain threshold is normally pretty high according to doctors. DP made me water bottles and I cocooned myself with those and lots of pillows in bed which helped a bit, but it still persisted. It's ok this morning after an hour soaking in the bath, but I know by midday it'll be back, which I'm kind of dreading. Might have to speak to the consultant on Tuesday about it I suppose.
