@stormtrooperjulian such a gorgeous bump! And I love your tattoo!! Beautiful 😊

BabySquid · 23/08/2019 13:58

Hey guys, I know I've been super AWOL again recently, just having time to read up on everything that's going on with you all.
@Bettythecat how was your appointment? I've got my 16 week apt this aft and REALLY wanna hear the heartbeat. Interesting about the placenta making a noise too (how dare it interrupt the heartbeat noise tho!)
How is everyone getting on?
@thumper59 that dress is beautiful 😍 I LOVE polka dots.

purplefig · 23/08/2019 14:02

@stormtrooperjulian fab bump! I can't remember - do you know what sex you're having? Oh pleaseeeee do add a picture of your kitchen, I'm a sucker for interior design.

BostonFern · 23/08/2019 15:18

Thanks for the lovely bump comments ladies!

@thumper59 I've been reduced to carrying gaviscon in my handbag😭

@Fivebyfive2 ah it's lovely when the movements change from flutters to something more noticeable! In the last few days we've progressed from feeling kicks to feeling and seeing elbows/feet/hands slide across the top of my bump-DP is convinced he felt the fingers/toes the other day!

@purplefig enjoy yoga and your holiday!

@Bettythecat So lovely you got up hear the heartbeat, and your homebirth idea has been so warmly received by the midwife.

@stormtrooperjulian That's a fabulous bump!

I've had a little trip out with my mum this morning, looked at baby bits and tried another car seat in the car-the Joie I-level I-size , think we need to check it in my DPs car before buying anything though.

It's got really hot here this afternoon-hope everyone is coping in this heat.

LokiCat · 23/08/2019 16:09

@MrsEG I've got my 12 week scan booked in on Oct 16th. It was originally 9th October but I'm away for work then. I should be 13 weeks by then! Hopefully the booking in appointment next week will make things feel a bit more real :)

@purplefig true, I shouldn't take chances with eyes, you're right. I'm seeing the midwife next week, so will most likely mention it to her and then make a GP appointment.
Haha yeah, I definitely need to clear my wardrobe out before I add more to it!! Thanks for the recommendation for the dungarees - will keep in mind when I'm in need 😊

@Fivebyfive2 How amazing that the movements are so much more noticeable! That's one thing I'm so excited to feel!!

@Bettythecat aww so glad you got to hear the heartbeat, that must have been so amazing 😍 I didn't realise the placenta made a sound! I wondered why white noise machines worked so well. So great that your appointment was so positive

@stormtrooperjulian beautiful bump! Providing the next few weeks go well, I'm hoping to book in for a private scan for mid-September (I'll be about 8/9 weeks). Last time I booked it straight away so it was horrible having to cancel it, so I'd rather wait to make sure this time.
Dark green and white sounds amazing - definitely share photo. I'm loving dark green at the moment!

@BabySquid I hope your appointment went well and you got to hear the heartbeat

I love reading about how far along you all are and how you're getting on. So much to look forward to in pregnancy (obviously I understand it's not all smooth sailing) 😊

thumper59 · 23/08/2019 16:31

@MrsEG weird how it goes isn't it! Our family has so many boys at the min!

@Fivebyfive2 there's loads of them! Boys are taking over!

@purplefig @PippaPug Thankyou 🥰 hope your both well!

@Bettythecat exactly, I think it's important to keep dressing as you usually would to an extent! I always wear dresses so if I was wearing leggings or jeans all the time in maternity I'd of felt weird!

@MrsR16 aw Thankyou 🥰

@stormtrooperjulian Thankyou, what a lovely bump! So close for you xx

@BabySquid Thankyou, me too! I can hide clumsy spillages quite easy into polka dots 😂😂
@BostonFern oh same! I daren't go anywhere without it. I have a small bottle in my bag at all times and a bottle downstairs and a bottle on my bedside table.😫 I've never suffered with it before pregnancy but wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy! I suppose I did well to get to 27 or so weeks with no real side effects though. Since then I've had non stop heartburn and the beloved SPD 😖😖. All be worth it though 💕

GemmaJen · 23/08/2019 16:33

@stormtrooperjulian that's an impressive bump, looking good 😊. Do pop up a kitchen picture. My life revolves around DIY these days and it's lovely to see a project come together.

We completed the nursery a few weeks ago, no got as that's in our bedroom, but really happy to have it done!

Sorry I've been so quiet lately, been getting pretty anxious with everything, not so much the fear of birth but just the uncertainty of when things are happening. Apparently I'm more of a control freak than I realized, though I suspect the hormones don't help! Had a growth scan Monday and baby is measuring big still, over 8lb at 36w. Consultant appointment today and been given the option for induction as we have a few risk factors. Not everyone's cup of tea, but with how anxious I've been getting I think we're going to go with it. So, likely being induced next week at 38w! Feeling all very real now! 😬

Bettythecat · 23/08/2019 17:46

@GemmaJen wow your nursery is so beautiful! How did you get the design on the walls? We've got the tiniest little box room for baby (going to save the other bedroom for granny and grandpa sleepovers) and wish we had a tiny bit more space to have a bit more fun with the decor. Sorry to hear you are feeling anxious, is there anything that you've found helps? Walks or meditation or anything? If induction is the right thing for you then just go with it- not everything is for everyone but that's ok 😘

@purplefig haha! It's a sort of whooshing noise, hard to explain. Not sure if you've heard of Ewan the Sheep but he's a sleep aid for babies and apparently plays the actual whooshing womb sounds!! It's apparently the sound of bloody going round!

@MrsR16 yes it was so amazing. Not sure why but I loved it more than hearing it at the scan. Was just unbelievable really, such a happy moment.

@stormtrooperjulian lovely neat bump! I love all the bump photos!

@BabySquid my appointment was great. How was yours? Our midwife asked what questions we had and I couldn't really think of anything!! I feel like as soon as a question comes into my head I google it 😂🤦‍♀️

@BostonFern thanks lovely. Your shopping trip sounds fab, so nice to get to go with your mum too 😊

@LokiCat thank you 🥰. She wasn't going to listen but said she was happy to as I'd asked. Apparently it can be a bit early to hear anything much as the baby is so little still!

@thumper59 totally agree although I do find I'm liking dresses more at the moment- somehow they are so easy and much more comfy with (the beginnings of) a bump.

Bettythecat · 23/08/2019 17:47

@GemmaJen also would love to know where you got your chest of drawers from it's fab! 👀

ELW85 · 23/08/2019 19:13

Hi all!

We’re officially on holiday! Have landed at our lodge and it’s gorgeous :)

@MrsEG @MrsR16 @LokiCat - Les Mis was amazing!! We had such a great time; DH’s first at the theatre and I’m so pleased he loved it!

@LokiCat - I still don’t have my 12 week scan letter through, so I’m pleased they’re actually on track with you! Going to chase the midwife on Tuesday.

How’s everyone’s Friday? All good I hope!

@purplefig @stormtrooperjulian - still getting massive night time boobs and then sore in the day (but smaller). How strange! But pleased to hear it’s pretty normal :)

GemmaJen · 23/08/2019 19:21

@Bettythecat thank you, the wall design was all masking tape and a lot of patience. My dh did it and came close to tears a few times, lol. But all worth it in the end 😊

The drawers were an upcycle project, just picked them up cheap on eBay and stripped and painted them.

I've been doing pregnancy yoga and hypnobirthing, they definitely help, but I'm now finding I'm getting irrational thoughts now that just go round and round. Much better since speaking with the consultant this morning though, weve accepted a date for next week.

BabySquid · 23/08/2019 20:18

@GemmaJen your nursery is so lovely. Love the idea of an eBay upcycle.

@Bettythecat I had a few questions for my midwife and actually remembered to ask this time haha. I heard the heartbeat and somehow it was nicer than seeing the scan! I can't wait to feel it move now. I've heard of Ewan the sheep and wondered what noise he played.

@GemmaJen I want to start pregnancy yoga but struggling to find somewhere in my area that does it. I'm also going to get a book on hypnobirthing, what's it like? Was trying to tell DH about it and he looked at me like I was a hippie haha

GemmaJen · 23/08/2019 21:00

@BabySquid your local nct site may have classes listed, that's where I found ours. It's been really good and a nice way if meeting people. We got the hypnobirthing online course from the positive birthing company. It's really clearly explained and easy to watch the videos. I've sat dh through the relevant videos too so he's all prepped to assist as birth partner. It's not hippie really, just common sense and a good chunk of science on how the body works and how to help with a positive birth. Fully recommend it 👍

stormtrooperjulian · 23/08/2019 21:38

@purplefig I'm having a boy 💙

@GemmaJen sorry to hear you've been feeling anxious. Sounds like the induction is the right choice for you, so exciting to know that you'll be meeting your baby soon!
Your nursery looks amazing, that wall design must have taken ages!

@BabySquid I did the online positive birth company hypnobirthing course too, I really liked it

Photo of my kitchen here..... still needs a final coat of paint then hanging pictures etc but the big bits are all done

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 6!
BabySquid · 24/08/2019 06:45

@stormtrooperjulian that kitchen looks amazing. So open and airy. The dark green is great, usually dark colours make things look smaller but this looks amazing.
When did you start getting into the hypnobirthing? I'm 16 weeks so don't wanna start too early but don't wanna leave it too late either.

MrsEG · 24/08/2019 08:03

@purplefig Hope you have a super holiday!

@Bettythecat I’m so pleased your 16 week appointment went so well! The 20 week scan will be here before you know it now!

@stormtrooperjulian Fabulous bump!! Your kitchen looks lovely - I think the green is gorgeous!

@BostonFern How exciting you’re seeing so much movement now! Yep it’s so hot here in Manchester too - digging out the sun cream in preparation!

@LokiCat That scan date will be here before you realise :) So pleased all is going well for you so far!

@GemmaJen That nursery is fabulous - what a labour of love that wall must have been! The very best of luck with your induction next week. I can’t believe how quickly that has come around for you already (I bet it probably doesn’t feel quick to you!!)

@ELW85 Have a fab holiday! oh my boobs do all sorts - currently it’s my nipples causing the issues, they are so sore I can’t even let water get on them in the shower!! DH has taken to calling me ‘filthy nips’ as I just have to stand with my back to the shower and wash around them 🙈

Im in the best mood ever today as one of my very best friends, who had a terrible ectopic a few years ago (ruptured tube and almost bled out) is pregnant and has had a fabulous 12 week scan :) I’m so pleased for her and also that we are so close together with our pregnancies!!

BostonFern · 24/08/2019 08:20

@stormtrooperjulian your kitchen is so lovely!

@GemmaJen I love your nursery, the mountain and woodland part is fabulous!

@BabySquid I can also recommend the positive birth company digital pack or the book by the founder Siobhán Millar. We've done about a third of the course and book and my DP has said he's learnt so much and it's really changed the way he thinks he will feel during the labour. I feel more positive about it already too.

@MrsEG that's amazing news about your friend!

ELW85 · 24/08/2019 08:44

@MrsEG - I actually lol’d at that! Husbands are great for nicknames 😂
Brilliant news about your friend!
I hope you’re having a lovely weekend?

LokiCat · 24/08/2019 09:47

Morning all!

@GemmaJen your nursery is absolutely gorgeous. I love the wall design! Sorry to hear that you've been feeling anxious, but glad that an induction is being offered, especially if it'll make you feel better. How exciting that you may be meeting your little one next week!!

@ELW85 oh no, how frustrating that they still haven't sorted out your scan. How far along are you now? I hope you get one when you speak to the midwife on Tuesday. Speaking of boobs, I was slightly worried last night before bed as my boobs didn't feel that sore, then got woken up in the middle of the night because they were so sore I couldn't even sleep on them! Now they're back to normal soreness. It is very strange!
Have an amazing time on your weekend away, sounds like it'll be great. I love lodge holidays! 😊

@stormtrooperjulian your kitchen looks great, so open and so much light!! Love the colour scheme.

@MrsEG Thanks lovely! I've got a few days away at work for trainings/meetings, so hoping that'll keep me distracted and make the time go faster!Thats great about your friend! How lovely you'll both get to go through this journey together 😊

Have a lovely day all, it's so nice and sunny here! Off for some lunch at my IL later today Grin

Jessikka · 24/08/2019 09:49

Morning! Just checking in.

Absolutely zonked today. Woke up about 5x to pee last night. Literally every 1hr45. I am beyond tired!

Off to shop for new pillows in a very weak and feeble attempt at combatting it a bit. My stupid and probably incorrect theory says if I'm not uncomfortable and tossing and turning I may not notice it so much a d may sleep a little longer!
Ha we will see!

Have a lovely BH and loved the bump pics!!

Lozzlepop · 24/08/2019 12:28

Hello ladies 👋🏻

I see a lot of familiar names which is lovely! I hope you don’t mind me tentatively popping by, got my BFP last Saturday and really hoping it’s a case of 3rd time lucky for us 🤞🏻 Hope everyone is doing well and has a lovely weekend ahead of them!! X

Fivebyfive2 · 24/08/2019 12:49

Hi all! We're off to see fil later as he's still in hospital, then meeting up with a friend who is up from London.

@gemmagen, your nursury is absolutely fab!!

@stormtrooperjulian, wow I love your kitchen, it looks so sleek and airy!!

@Jessikka, good luck pillow shopping! We got some good ones from Sainsburys and Next if it helps xx

@Lozzlepop, congratulations sweet, so happy to see you on here!! Xxx

@MrsEG, fantastic new about your friend and always good to have a pregnancy buddy 🙂 I love your new nickname by the way! Xx

@purplefig, enjoy our holiday 😎

In other news, my 20 week scan has been rescheduled again (5th time!) it's now on Wednesday... Hopefully!! Apparently sil has gone little mad in the bank Holiday sales and got us some baby stuff, bless her 😀 We're also popping to my mums tomorrow and apparently her neighbour has said she's got loads of baby bits they're about to charity shop so we can have our pick!!

Dh has been reading the baby book and got a bit freaked out bless him! I think I've reassured him we'll be OK. We're very lucky to have family and friends nearby which is a massive reassurance for me! 🙂

MrsEG · 24/08/2019 13:03

@ELW85 I’m not too bad, although DH is hungover today and I have no patience for it at all! He promised me we’d be out the door today by 1 to head to this farm day thing; he’s only just peeled himself off the sofa to get ready. First time I’ve played the ‘I am making your children right now, and you’re not doing anything for me!’ card! How is the lodge?

@LokiCat I definitely found keeping busy helped those earlier weeks fly by! Enjoy the sunshine :)

@Jessikka Oh no! It’s rubbish isn’t it; I find the nights I sleep through now I wake up and am actually in pain needing a wee. I’ve tried to stop drinking at 7pm but it isn’t making much difference!

@Lozzlepop Ah, delighted for you - I hope everything goes perfectly for you xx

@Fivebyfive2 Wednesday, how exciting! Ahh how lovely you’ve got all those gifts coming your way! I’ve had two friends text today who have had babies this year to say they are putting all the stuff they’ve grown out of to one side for us!
Oh bless DH - mine got a ‘pregnancy for dads’ app the other day and he loves it. Although it made him really freak out a bit about money - he was like ‘They need how much stuff?!’ - like, welcome to the club haha! I daren’t show him my list until he’s relaxed a bit about it!!

Enjoy the sunshine all - have fab long weekends x

Delilah7 · 24/08/2019 13:16

I miss you ladies!! Bloody babies are hard work 😂 how are you all??

Ethan's 9 weeks today. He had a sleepover at his nannies house yesterday as mummy and daddy are feeling overwhelmed. I've been diagnosed with postnatal 😔

Fivebyfive2 · 24/08/2019 13:29

@Delilah7, hi hun! Sending a massive hug your way xx The important thing is you've been diagnosed and are getting help and support. You'll get through this 💜

@MrsEG, ha ha I don't blame you for pulling the 'carrying your children' card at all 😂 Hope you two make it to the farm! Xx

So my bro and sil just dropped off a heap of stuff they got us in the sales! Big picture frame for month by month pics, some clothes in various sizes and a big Teddy cushion thing for baby to practise rolling (or something?!) which has had to be bagged up immediately before the cat claimed it as a bed 😂

OP posts:
