P.S was in a bad mood about a work email this morning so thought I would pop in to M&S on the way to work to look at baby stuff to cheer myself up. Ended up buying a little baby gro and at the till the lady said "do you want a gift receipt?" When I said no she said "oh gosh, I'm so sorry- your dress was camouflaging it there- congratulations!". So clearly I do have a bit of a bump if total strangers are feeling comfortable enough to comment on it!! Crazy!

MrsR16 · 22/08/2019 21:28

@MrsEG you're having twins though, lovely!! You're allowed to show 😊 everyone says it's a boy bump, as it's so compact and to the front 😂

@LokiCat thanks sweetie! 😊 it feels massive, but I guess it's not that big really!

@Bettythecat thanks lovely, I'm 23 weeks now! I had an urge to clean last night! Nesting's setting in 😂 but way more so for you by the sounds of it hehehe! Glad you had a positive experience at M&S even if she didn't spot the bump to start with...

MrsEG · 23/08/2019 07:34

@LokiCat I haven’t actually gotten anything from
ASOS but I hear good things about their dungarees and jumpsuits! Thanks for the tip!

@Bettythecat Jasper is a lovely name! Yep I don’t think you can plan for anything with birth, or at the very least, expect the unexpected! My sister had HG all through so ate crap and did zero exercise and had the most straightforward natural birth with just a minor tear. My friend ran and exercised throughout, was all bump, did her hypnobirthing course, and ended up with an epidural and a forceps delivery. What will be will be!! Ahh I’m glad the M&S lady spotted your bump - sometimes I think people are just too polite to say!

@MrsR16 It really is such a compact bump! I bet you’ll notice so much growth now though and especially when you get in to the 3rd tri, it’ll grow like crazy! This was mine this morning at 13+5 🙈 Twins are clearly gobbling up all the crumpets!!! All the bloat has gone now and it feels really solid. Madness!

Happy weekend everyone! I’m WFH today, just having breakfast with the dog :) Enjoy your Bank Holidays!

Bettythecat · 23/08/2019 07:50

@MrsEG yes very true! I've got a bit of a birth plan forming but will definitely keep an open mind and also do plans B, C and D in case things don't go that way! Your bump is absolutely amazing!! You're really showing aren't you! Twin babies = double the bump!

I'm also WFH today- still lounging in bed haha! Got my midwife appointment today at 10:50 too- really hoping I'll be able to hear the HB!

thumper59 · 23/08/2019 08:02

@MrsEG I did mention to OH I expect him
To have an Afro if that is true 😂. Your bump looks lovely!!

This was mine yesterday at 29+3. It's growing every day now I think, I'll be 85% bump by 40 weeks 😂

MrsEG · 23/08/2019 08:20

@Bettythecat Oh I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you do hear the heartbeat, that will be amazing! Enjoy your lounging - I’ve started working now but only because I want to log off early ha!

@thumper59 Haha! I’ll be waiting now to see if your baby has a full head of hair!! You look fabulous - you have such a lovely maternity wardrobe!!

Bettythecat · 23/08/2019 08:24

@thumper59 yes I'm loving the bump!! Where is your dress from its gorge!

@MrsEG I've logged on in my pjs too! Hoping for a chilled day of a bit of work, a bit of life admin!

LokiCat · 23/08/2019 08:34

Morning all :)

@Bettythecat ahh Jasper is a lovely name!
Glad that you had a positive M&S experience, especially after a bad morning. I know I'll be at the 'too much pasta' stage for a while at first; can't wait to see myself with a bump 😊

@MrsEG heard their maternity leggings are supposed to be great as well (just checked and the 20% off is still there!).
Your bump is so lovely! Almost 14 weeks, how exciting! Have a great working from home day

@thumper59 you look gorgeous, love your dress!

I'm 5+1 today, feeling slightly less anxious now that I've passed the 5 week mark (which is when I had my mc previously). I'll still be nervous until I've had a scan, I'm sure, but one hurdle crossed thankfully!

Me and DH are out to dinner with some friends tonight; can't wait for the long weekend to start!!

Fivebyfive2 · 23/08/2019 08:35

@bettythecat, good luck at your appointment today, hope they do the heartbeat thing! The baby stuff in M&S is soooo cute, have to really control myself in there 😂

@MrsEG @thumper59, loving the bump pics! Absolutely fab! Xx

So I'm still quarantined, work have said to stay off until after the bank holiday incase I pass germs on to anyone else for the weekend... Ah well! I do feel better, although we'll see what happens when I attempt more than toast later on. Wish me luck!

Happy Friday everyone 🙂

thumper59 · 23/08/2019 08:42

@MrsEG I have Visions if him having a big blonde Afro now 😂. Aw Thankyou!

@Bettythecat aw Thankyou! The dress is boohoo. All my maternity clothes are except the last bump pic I put on which was ASOS and in the sale 🙂 I know a lot of people don't rate boohoo but I've found them all to be fab really especially for the price!

@LokiCat @Fivebyfive2 Thankyou Ladies, so kind 🥰 xxx

Bettythecat · 23/08/2019 09:08

@thumper59 I'm impressed! I've actually never bought stuff from there before but know it gets a bad press.

@Fivebyfive2 I know the stuff in there is soooo cute! Are you finding out the sex of your baby by the way? I'm going to ask the midwife to do the heartbeat if she doesn't volunteer it! No harm in asking!

Bump watch update: it seems to have disappeared today 😑. I actually think the day after I've been to the gym it's less like a bump- maybe tummy muscles holding it in?! Either way I'm desperate for a bump- come on baby! 😫

BostonFern · 23/08/2019 09:17

So sorry to hear that @Lemonysherbet 💐 Be kind to yourself.

Fivebyfive2 · 23/08/2019 09:21

@bettythecat, we had a scan on Saturday just for fun and found out we're having a boy 😀💙 Our NHS scan isn't until this time next week, when I'll be over 21 weeks so I cracked and got an 'in between' one! Don't worry too much about the bump coming and going ; I'm 20 weeks and I swear it still seems bigger in the evening then smaller in the morning?! Xx

OP posts:
BostonFern · 23/08/2019 09:27

@MrsEG great news on the low risk results.

@thumper59 I feel your heartburn related pain too! Mine is starting to make my ears ache when it's really bad-it's really odd!

@Fivebyfive2 Good luck with the toast!

@MrsR16 @MrsEG @thumper59 lovely bumps!

@Bettythecat could be your stomach muscles holding it in!

This was my bump on Wednesday, at 26 weeks:

LokiCat · 23/08/2019 09:45

@Bettythecat ah good luck for your appointment, I hope you get to hear the heartbeat!! 🤞🏽

@Fivebyfive2 hope the toast went down okay! 😊

@BostonFern gorgeous bump!

I definitely have the Friday feeling; can't stop procrastinating at work Grin

Bettythecat · 23/08/2019 09:57

@Fivebyfive2 sorry I did know that 🤦‍♀️ I think I already congratulated you too! 😂 how exciting for you! I had been 100% that I wanted to find out but now that I can I've sort of gone a bit wobbly with it and can't decide! Are you glad you found out?

@BostonFern beautiful bump! Can't wait until that's me!

@LokiCat thanks lovely!

thumper59 · 23/08/2019 10:10

@Bettythecat I find them all great, and the quality is great really. I don't know if some people are expecting unreal quality for 12-15 quid, I was reluctant to spend loads on clothes that I'll only be wearing for a few months though! Some stuff can be a bit see through but nothing a pair of nude knickers can't sort!

@BostonFern lovely bump! Urgh the heart burn is awful isn't it. I have it morning until night and it makes me want to be sick 😫.

@Fivebyfive2 yay another boy! I can't remember the last girl that was born within the people I know who have recently had babies, and all those expecting are expecting boys too!

MrsEG · 23/08/2019 10:31

@thumper59 Love Boohoo stuff! Never bought from them before maternity but got a fab jumpsuit and big shirt from them!

@thumper59 @Fivebyfive2 Totally opposite with my friends - there hasn’t been a boy born in over 4 years and just loads and loads of girls! So we’re all on tenterhooks waiting to know what the twins will be!!

@BostonFern Lovely bump! Sorry to hear you’re suffering with heartburn too!

@Bettythecat @Fivebyfive2 Enjoy the small bumps now - the rate mine grows I sometimes panic a bit at how big it will get; I even asked the midwife if my belly would explode 🙈 All people are different but I have to say my sister and most friends didn’t really ‘pop’ til after 20 weeks. Then they just grew and grew!!

@LokiCat Fab I’ll check ASOS today! Do you have a scan date in? I know it’s a long old wait those first few weeks but just hang on in there - your scan will be here before you know it!

Fivebyfive2 · 23/08/2019 10:32

@thumper59, funnily enough when I was at my nans home the other day, one of the carers mentioned all the babies seem to be boys lately?! How weird!

@Bettythecat, we actually weren't sure about finding out, but it is really exciting to know because it makes it seem more real somehow?! Like now I have a proper little picture of him in my head?! But I totally understand why some people want to be surprised 🙂

So, baby movements seem to be changing a bit. It's gone from the tickling feeling to proper nudges! Still quite small but definitely more distinct than before!

purplefig · 23/08/2019 10:43

@PippaPug sorry, but you are legit a pro and that answer proves it! I'm based in a town but we do have a dog and go on woodland/beach walks pretty regularly, so ideally I'd look at something all terrain. Both of your options sounds really good, but perhaps more suited to urban living? I'm currently looking at the Out n About Nipper 360 - which I've noticed quite a few people seem to have around here. I guess it's just a case of testing them all out. Thanks for highlighting some of the other issues to look out for e.g. warranty, repairs etc. All things I hadn't even considered!

@MrsR16 you look incredible! Men really do just know the right things to say sometimes don't they. A nice quick "yeah, thanks for that" usually does the trick for me Grin (it is, after all, 50% their doing).

@stormtrooperjulian Wow 15 weeks!!!! That is so incredible. MIL just told me she had hers at 16 weeks, but a friend of mine didn't get them until 20 weeks when she was at the scan. I get a sort of stretching out, ever so slightly crampy feeling but no actually movement. 10/10 move keeping a pack of digestive biscuits on your bedside cabinet. Enjoy catching up on sleep and I hope you have a fab BBQ. Is the kitchen all completed now?

@MrsEG two dinners for two babies...seems legit! I woke up ravenous AGAIN last night. Think I need to adopt a two dinner strategy tbh.

@LokiCat I'm pretty laidback about getting appointments for health things, but I really don't mess about with eyes. Freaks me out! I'd make an appointment with your GP if I were you, they can access and refer you to the eye casualty (not as dramatic as it sounds). Enjoy the bank holiday weekend - it's supposed to be glorious. Your family dinner on Sunday sounds lovely. Oh gawwwwwd don't tell me about another sale...I have already spent way too much on maternity clothes haha!! Grin I do actually have a pair of ASOS maternity dungarees (I got 2nd hand from eBay) and they are FAB. Highly recommend as they are super adjustable - on the tightest setting they pretty much feel like regular dungarees and I wear them allllll the time.

@Bettythecat I can't believe she was dilated to 9cm! You're right you can't plan these things. Accepting that really messes with my inner control freak, but it's a good lesson to learn before the baby arrives haha. I like the idea of having birth 'preferences' rather than a plan. Funny about your fringe - I decided to cut my own hair the other night. No idea what possessed me. Luckily it turned out alright!

@thumper58 fab dress - you look great!

@BostonFern gorgeous bump!

Have a fab bank holiday everyone! I've got pregnancy yoga tonight, and then we're off on our hols. Speaking of which, I probably won't be around much next week as we're away.

PippaPug · 23/08/2019 11:21

@Purplefig - That changes my opinion then 🤣 I haven’t pushed a Nipper out and about 360 as a single - but it was a great double (was about 10 years ago now!) and I loved it.
If I was you I would also go and have a look at the single mountain buggies (just not the Nano) as they are designed in NZ they are for city life as well as country and they are sturdy. Most of them have three wheels - but it doesn’t matter, they are solid buggies. My friends bosses come from NZ and they had a single mountain buggy (before needing to get a double) and it was used all over fields etc in NZ and then London life in the UK.

Due to what you want to use your buggy for (beach/woodland) I would ideally steer away from bugaboo/I candy type makes - which IMHO are suitable for city life.

@thumper59 and @BostonFern your Bumps are looking lovely!

Bettythecat · 23/08/2019 11:27

@thumper59 yeah I know what you mean- seems silly to spend lots on stuff you will only wear for a few months but then again I suppose I can save it for the next baby. I've also been looking at less fitted stuff that's non maternity and might buy a few bits of that so that I could wear after too although I do love fitted things that show off the bump 💕

@Fivebyfive2 yep totally get that- I think I'm the same really! I think we will probably find out at the 20 week to be honest!

@purplefig haha yup I was exactly the same- no idea why I felt the sudden urge for a chop! Luckily I'm loving it too although DH not so sure about fringes (but I can get over that 😂).

Just got back from the 16 week scan and asked to hear the heartbeat. She did it and we heard it for a few seconds although baby was moving about like mad. Also heard the sound of the placenta- makes sense why they they white noise when you hear that! Was totally amazing to hear the HB I'm so happy. And midwife was lovely too and super positive about the idea of a home birth. 🥰

purplefig · 23/08/2019 13:21

@PippaPug oooo that's super useful. Right I shall make a note to road test a out and about 360, and check out the Mountain Buggies brand too - they sound awesome. I do have the icandy and bugaboo on my list, so I'll deffo be wary of them in that case. Thanks so much for all your help, really appreciate it.

@Bettythecat wait...the placenta makes a noise?!!? What on earth did it sound like?!?!?! Also congrats on your 16 week scan - must've been amazing to hear the heartbeat. Good for you planning a home birth. I was so tempted, but we've got a brand new midwife led birth centre 30 minutes from us that's got things like proper plumbed in birthing pools, low lighting, various birth equipment etc. So fingers crossed I stay low risk and I can labour there. But if not, it's right on the hospital grounds.

MrsR16 · 23/08/2019 13:40

@MrsEG such a beautiful bump! And yes, I feel like I'm growing every day at the moment! 😂

@thumper59 OMG you look stunning!

@Fivebyfive2 Oh yay for a little boy!! 😍

@BostonFern that's an awesome bump!

@purplefig aw thanks lovely! I do remind DH that this is all (well, mostly) his fault haha! 😂 I've had about 6 different people comment on bump today going "god you're getting bigger now!" Every time I'm like "yeah, thanks for reminding me!" 🤣

@Bettythecat so awesome you got to hear the heartbeat! It's magical isn't it?

stormtrooperjulian · 23/08/2019 13:41

@thumper59 love the dress!

@LokiCat glad you're feeling a bit less nervous now. Are you planning to have an early scan?

@Bettythecat @Fivebyfive2 I knew from the beginning that I wanted to find out, having as much information as possible helps me feel a bit more in control and it feels more real calling the baby 'him' rather than 'it', more like he's a real little person rather than an abstract concept

@purplefig the kitchen is all done, I love it, it's exactly how I wanted it! Will take a photo later if anyone wants to see how the dark green and white colour scheme worked out - everyone gave me strange looks when I explained what I wanted but they've all said that it works really well. Have a lovely holiday!

@Bettythecat It's so lovely hearing the heartbeat isn't it!

Seeing as we're sharing bump photos, here's mine at almost 36 weeks.....
