Do you think girl or boy when you see this name....

Sacha....

Sorry not sure where to post this thread! I know I thought about names constantly for the last nine months so I thought I'd get most response here! DS2 born last Sunday, and as dh is Croatian we need a name that works in both english and europe. DS1 called Luka.

Sacha is known as a boys name in Europe but I don't want people constantly seeing his name and thinking he's a girl.

I'd really like to know if people's first impressions are that it is a girl's name, or if you knew it was a boys name.

Thanks!

My boss's son called Sacha so I would think of a boy

Juno however is for a girl!

Every man has his genius
every woman her juno...

MuminBrum · 30/07/2007 20:02

The only Sasha/Sacha (not sure how they spell it) that I know is a boy, so I would probably assume "boy". Juno, however, can only be a girl's name - she was the Roman Queen of the Gods.

I went to school with a Sasha and have also known boys/men called Sacha and never think of it as girly. Kelly on the other hand - GIRL!!!!

hunkermunker · 30/07/2007 20:07

Boy. One of the nicest blokes I ever knew was a Sacha.

And one of the most unpleasant girls was a Sasha.

LIZS · 30/07/2007 20:09

Without knowing the family's background I'd assume a girl , if I knew ds1 or your dh I'd probably think either but not definitely boy.

Spelt Sacha, boy; spelt Sasha, girl. But since most people will hear rather than see it written, they will assume it is Sasha therefore girl.

HOWEVER don't let that put you off if you want to call him Sacha! I think it's a lovely name - just that in Britain people are more likely to think of the girl version.

kipperthedog · 30/07/2007 20:20

Agree with Aimsmum, unless it's pronounced differently?

kipperthedog · 30/07/2007 20:21

Like it tho

ScoobyDooooo · 30/07/2007 20:25
